Meh, this place isn't stellar by any means. Came here on a Saturday night with friends and the place was packed. We ended up sitting right by the door, which was slightly annoying. Food came out after awhile, waiter wasn't really paying attention to refilling drinks. He was pleasant, but there was no personality, at all. We were seated SO incredibly close to the table behind us, it was hard to even get into my seat!
Ordered the appetizer trio as my entree since I can be pretty indecisive choosing a single entree. The trio was SO small. There is no way this could have been shared between 2+ people as an appetizer! It didn't even fill me up and just lacked flavor. The sliders had bacon which was NOT listed in the menu. Mozza sticks were kinda cold.
With 20% tip and tax, my meal came out to $20. Could've gone to Chipotle across the street for half the price, half the time, and more filling.
Hmphh.
1. Fajitas are alright...go to Uncle Julio's Rio Grande in Fairfax for some authenticity.
2. Burgers are on the greasy side.
3. Salsa and chips are mediocre...go to Cafe Rio for the real thing.
4. Low cal Margarita grilled chicken is pricey but okay.
5. Margaritas taste like a virgin limeade. Is there alcohol in these things? For an amazing margarita, go to Lauriol Plaza in DC!
This place isn't my top choice to go to with friends, but if they want to go, I'll go along. The $20 dinner for two is by far the best deal in town. My mom and I got chips and salsa, the chicken fajitas, and the classic bacon burger, all for $20! That's a good deal if you ask me, even if it's not that great of food. It isn't worth raving about, but it's not offensive.
We went on 11/11/11 - got a Veterans Appreciation meal. Â They were packed! Â The service took a while, but that was to be expected given the volume. Â Because it took so long for our appetizers to arrive, the manager came out and took one of them off the bill. Â He seemed very customer focused - we didn't complain or ask for him to comp us for the wait, he just did it. Â It's good to see that there are still folks "out there" who put the customer first.
Review Source:Ordered the mushroom Swiss burger it was excellent but what really stood out was the French fries. The fries were cooked to perfection! Wife got Santa Fe wrap low fat alternative she said it was satisfying but needed sauce inside. Topped it off with paradise pie. A cookie type with an Ice-cream top filled with chocolate and walnuts .

Review Source:Chili's revisited -
Man, this place sure does do a lot of business for a Thursday night. Â They were on a 40 minute wait, which was no problem to us, but when we asked the host if the bar tables were on a wait or first come first serve she shrugged, stammered, and then said she didnt know. Â So while waiting for our table we grabbed a stool at the bar and watched as both tables we had been eying were just taken by people that walked in right behind us. Â Frustrating. Â
So the pager goes off letting us know our table is ready, or is it? Â We get to the host table and shes no where in sight, when she gets back she looks puzzled. Â Shes puzzled because she believes she just sat us, and now doesnt have a table available. Â What a disaster. Â She finally gets us a table and tries to explain what happened, I cut her off because honestly no one cares why you suck. Â The host is the first person that greets you as you enter a restaurant, if anyone needs to be cool and organized its the person seating the guests. Â
The evening was saved by everything that happened away from the host stand. Â Our bartender was nice and very attentive for the short time we were there. Â Our server was super nice and cheery. Â The food was as expected with one exception. Â If you get fajitas they offer the option of beans and rice, the beans arent bad but the rice is dreadful. Â Has some sort of horrible citrus flavoring on it.
Compared to other Chili's in the area, this one is very good. Most of the time I have gotten good and friendly service here and the food has been very well prepared. The only issue is it takes the kitchen quite some time to get food out, even an appetizer. Since they have not been open for a year yet, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but hopefully sooner than later this gets solved. Other than that, it is a pleasant experience.
Review Source:Another good experience at Chili's. I believe they do things right at this concept. From store to store, the service and food is consistent.
This location is the newest I have been to and there are some subtle differences versus the older stores, but it is still very familiar when you walk in.
It was after the dinner rush and the hostess was slouching at the host stand ready to go home. Once seated, our server Erika, was very good. She was engaging and personable. She knew the job well and gave us great service at the perfect pace.
As an app we had the Nachos. Loved 'em. Their nachos are the best. Bar None. Why? Because every chip has plenty of toppings, never soggy and it's visually appealing.
The Country Fried Steak was good as well. Hand battered, yes one can tell the difference. Very tender, yet crispy. Great mash potatoes. Creamy and simple. Perfect.
Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was huge. Definitely hit the spot. The fries were fresh and crispy.
Paradise Pie for dessert and a cup of coffee. Nice finish.
I hear they have a great Happy Hour too. Looking forward to it.
I hadn't been in a Chili's in a while and since it was newly opened locally, I thought I'd give it a try. Â It took a long time to get seated we were a group of 6 with a handicapped person. Â Our waitress was overwhelmed and didn't visit our table often, but was very friendly when we did see her. Â
The chips and salsa were bad, the chips were too hard and salty. Â As a matter of fact, everything that we ordered was extremely salty. Â I had a mushroom cheese burger that was very average, but the fries that came with it were again, very salty. Â
I would not go back again. Â Although the bar looked nice and the drink specials look good. Â I'm sure it will stay in business like every bad restaurant in Gainesville.
Chili's food is always good, no matter what location. This location gets 5 stars cos it's brand new. The entrance is awkwardly placed, but as long as you stay on the path between Chili's and Mimi's, you'll be okay. Also, if you don't like kids, stay away from this place in the evening-- or sit at the bar; it's always crawling with small children.
Review Source:A friend and I were sitting at Starbuck's thinking of a place to eat dinner tonight, when she suggested Chili's. Â After a terrible first experience at this Chili's I was hesitant, but decided to give it another try.
We were promptly seated and I was surprised that there was no wait, considering it was around 7PM on a Friday night.
Our server was very fast and friendly! Â Pretty much the exact opposite of my server the last time around. Â She even had a refill on the table before I needed it, which is always a big plus for me!
The kitchen did mess up on our burgers, but were quick to correct them. Â Then, the meals were very good!
I am glad to see that my terrible experience the first time here was only an isolated incident.
I've been eating out more than normal since my surgery as it's easier to protect my elbow against any strain - AND to celebrate my good follow up office appointment today with my Orthopaedic Surgeon - I decided to go out for dinner at some place decent.
So I ended up at the new Chili's that recently opened up in Virginia Gateway in Gainesville - I think it opened some time in the last 2-3 weeks.
I opted to sit at the bar. The place was pretty busy on a Thursday evening. The three bartenders were friendly - they opened by asking if I'd like a specialty Margarita - I explained I was on medication and that no alcohol would be involved this evening. So I had water with a wedge of lime.
After looking over the menu, I ordered the boneless Chicken wings with Habanero sauce and the Baby Back Ribs with the Habanero BBQ Sauce. I wanted the wings first - for some reason all the food came out at the same time. The wings were tasty - but of course their version of Habanero is nothing like what Habanero should be - meaning it just was not that spicy - but still tasty.
The ribs were  flavorful - again - same problem about the heat level with regard to the Habanero. The ribs had a bit of char to them which I appreciate. The ribs come with an ear of corn-on-the-cob and mashed potatoes with a savory gravy. The corn could have used a bit of butter - it had a bit of salt on it - but overall both the corn and mashed potatoes were good.
Service was attentive and good - several of the bartenders came by to check on me throughout the meal to see how things were and whether I needed anything.
While I was eating I noticed the gorgeous brand-new flat panel High Definition Panasonic Plasma TVs throughout the bar. I asked what size they were - 50" Plasma's - very nice.
I am sure I will be back here again - as the "Fern Bar" concept goes - Chili's is one of my favorites!
