I was teetering between giving City Limits a 3 or a 4 star rating, but decided to settle on a 4. Â I have fond memories of my latest visit because I stuck around long enough for all the epic line dancing to begin! Â I'm not a country girl. Â I grew up in suburbia on the west coast where there was only 1 country station and 1 country bar that I knew of but never visited. Â I'd never been line dancing before in my life, so please take that into account because I have no other country bar to compare my experience to. Â However, I had a fantabulous time trying to learn some moves at City Limits! Â I was actually able to master a dance other than the electric slide and felt pretty proud of myself. Â When my friends and I left I totally had it in my head that I was going to take up line dancing. Â We'll see.
I like that they have a patio, pool tables, and bouncers who will let girls in free if you refuse to pay a cover (accompanied by a smirk and a slight scoot toward the exit).
My biggest complaint about my first visit to City Limits was the freezing cold temperature inside the place. Â I didn't stay long because of that, but on visit 2 when I stayed long enough to really get down on the dance floor I understood why the AC was on full blast. Â So I decided I'm okay with that.
My second biggest complaint is that the specialty cocktails are just way too sweet. Â At this bar it's going to have to be Coors Lights, shots, or vodka cranberries for me from now on.
I seriously LOVE this place. It has a little something for everyone. Standard bar when you walk in with dance floor, mechanical bull to the side; southern style bar in the far back; pool, outdoor seating area, and upstairs area. The music they play is a little something for everyone. Since Wilmington attracts a lot of young people being the hub of UNCW, this place is a great go to spot with the variety of music they feature throughout the night.
They even have a great photographer who comes around some nights to take pictures up to put it up on a local NC website http://lazyday.com, which is so great, especially if you're not one to want to lug around a camera of your own to remember the night before with your honey.
If you're looking for a great time and a fan of line dancing or just dancing in general, this place is for you. Â I was visiting a friend in Wilmington and this place was HOT. Â It's a country themed saloon. Â You will even see people wearing straw hats and cowboy boots. Â To my surprise, they paid very good hip-hop music and mixed it up with line dancing music here and there. Â The best part about this place is the mechanical bull. Â Bull rides are $5 but it's completely worth it. Â The operator seems to take it easy on the ladies but much tougher on the males. Â The longest I saw I guy lasted on the bull was about 20 seconds. Â They have pretty decent drink specials even on a weekend night. Â Awesome place for an awesome time.
