I am never going to host an event here ever again. Actually, this whole experience makes me never want to host events at clubs/bars again.
Did I mention this was a fundraiser for a non-profit? The general manager gave me a discount on the facility rental space because it was a fundraiser for a great cause, but the contract stated that as long as guests spent a total of $1500 at the bar for the whole night, I would get my deposit back.
I not only didn't get my deposit back, he insisted I had to pay more. This made no sense to me, considering I had a good number of people who were drinking a lot. I later discovered the bartender had been giving free drinks a lot, not charging people's cards, clearly not being honest with the tabs. That makes no sense to me; you'll get money regardless, I would appreciate it if my guests were the ones making sure your bar sales went up, not me who is doing this out of pocket to raise money for a non-profit.
I also had complaints from my lady friends that the bartender was being overly and aggressively flirtatious with them throughout the night, making them feel very uncomfortable. This is incredibly unprofessional.
There was also a huge mix up with what time the event would start. I had planned it for earlier, meaning my DJ and set up crew showed up on time, only to find out that the contract was not revised to what we had agreed on and they didn't let us in until two hours later. That's two hours of lost drink-buying time that could've definitely gone to this bar sale requirement.
One star is for the very friendly security guy who made sure guests who came in were paying the cover, proceeds which went to my non-profit. Too bad his bosses were shady as hell.
Do not host an event here.
Donot come here and waste money if the event is organized by Instantkarma or <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdesiclub.com&s=574601770c1dd9446346fe7deb63acc08fd5f9e10128b1a3afa4f93cd00fc639" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://desiclub.com</a>. I bought my tickets online at <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdesiclub.com&s=574601770c1dd9446346fe7deb63acc08fd5f9e10128b1a3afa4f93cd00fc639" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://desiclub.com</a> when i got to the club I told them that I dont have a ticket and then gave my will call name for them to look up. Instead of doing that I was asked to purchase another ticket which would have cost $20 per person at the club and online it was less than half the price. I literally had to call my bank there and then because I hate getting ripped off and I was told that my card has already being charged. When i went to tell the employee with my bank on line the girl who I was told later worked for the organizer Instant Karma was so rude, but all of a sudden they were able to find my three tickets purchased.
To top it of I even got a chance to talk to Bhavani who is the organizer as far as she was concerned she didnt care to listen to my whole story.
There is no excuse for rudeness so people dont waste your money - paying to go to a club or event that treats bad.
5 Stars for Club Illusions and its Crew!
Wow! Â We had our Whole Foods Market holiday party there last Tuesday night and were so happy that we chose Club Illusions. Â From the first phone call with the Club Manager, we were not only treated well, but delighted! Â Ask for Ulysses, he'll take great care of you! Â From helping to plan out the major and minor details of the party...to offering up his decorating skills...we were never unsatisfied. Â The food was delicious (Peruvian Grill!) and the music/bar choices were perfect! Â
My Team Members all cannot stop talking about this year's Holiday Party and I believe it's all because of this venue! Â
Thank you Club Illusions!!! Â We'll see you next year!

Free Geographer show? I'm in!
Found out about the free Geographer show on Pandora station and decided to attend it because, well, it's free and they're awesome!
After finding out about where the show was going to take place, I was wondering how a band is going to play in a club. I had images of a super small venue and bad sound system when I thought about how they were playing at a random club.
It turns out that I was completely wrong about this place. The venue was surprisingly spacious. It kind of reminded me of the Fort Mansion in SF except smaller. There were tables in the back, a bar on the side and an upstairs for the VIP members. The sound system was amazing. The music was playing clearly with no crackling sounds or those torturous high pitch sounds.
Would definitely come here again if another musician decides to play here! :)
I would give negative star if that is an option. Â DO NOT COME HERE.
I am a member of Event and Adventures activity club and we had an event in Club Illusions on Friday night (11/9/12) Â We were promised salsa lesson from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm, 2 dance floors with different music and a private VIP Sky Lounge. Â All of it were arranged about a month a head.
When we got there, there was No lesson, NO salsa music, one small entrance hall way as the dance floor. Â Apparently, the owner/manager decided to close most of the club and cancelled the salsa lesson that night.
It was a huge disappointment on Friday night to say the least. Â It ruined everyone's Friday night and the salsa spirit. Â
The owner/manager's poor business moral and lack of integrity is a huge turn off.  I won't be coming here again and I will definitely tell all my friends not to come to a place with poor management  like this.
The place looks really run-down.
It gets really hot inside, but they only have a really small outdoor waiting/sitting area. Â You can't get fresh air anywhere else but that tiny rectangle.
The drinks are moderately priced (average of $10-14).
There are tables you can sit in on the back, but the bouncers don't let you go upstairs.
Came here on a Friday night and it happened to be college night for business kids or MBA majors? Â not really sure, but I definitely knew it was not my scene. Â I am sure this is not the their fault, it just happened to be one of those things where you walk into a club and your like? Â "Am I at the wrong place?" Â Big dance floor, 2 bars. Â However, there were only 2 bartenders working on both bars with tons of people waiting. Â The wait to get a drink is a long one that night. Â Staff was somewhat friendly, Â but seemed overworked. Â It was not bad or good. Â Just came on the wrong night. Â I have not had anything on the menu so I can't say if the food is bad or good. Â If you do decide to come here, the good thing is there is a parking lot right next door to the lounge so it is very close. Â Safe neighborhood, no thugs and clean bathrooms.
Review Source:So me and Jesse the BF came here. Â I was hoping to keep up my salsa practice. Â I'm really starting to get some moves down. Â Even my roommate who has been doing salsa forever is impressed. Â So we heard this place had salsa night that were pretty good and decided to check it out.
Do your remember that mojito commercial they used to have on late night with the bartender shaking up the mojitos while everybody dances--then he stops and everyone stops. Â It's like this place took that as they model and ran with it. Â
The dance floor is pretty big here and the lighting is pretty good. Â Some of other reviews complained about that, but it is no big deal. Â Early in the night (before 11 pm) the floor was okay, not too crowded. Â But as the night waxed, the floor filled, and I might as well have been back at Il Pirata because you just didn't have enough room to move.
Also, despite the watery mojitos there were a fair amount of sloshed dancers. Â At one point I couple of dancers banged into each other, glared at each other, and I thought we were about to have some trouble. Â Anyway, it got way too crowded and we were pretty much out of there by midnight.
My friend Sandria and I came here a few weeks ago. I did NOT know it was 18+. Being that I'm 22, this was such a huge mistake. Sorry kiddies, 21+ people party at 21+ clubs. Going to 18+ is just wrong!
My other friend was go-go dancing that night, so we came to support. I thought this place sounded familiar but I didn't think twice and just went. I realized I came here when I was 19! And nothing has changed.
Honestly, it's a large and clean venue with good music. They played house and trance all night long so I really enjoyed it.
The drinks aren't cheap, but they're strong!
There was also a nice patio area that was lit up for people to chill.
Overall, it's alriiiighhhhtt. It's just not my scene anymore.
I'm not trying to rob the cradle so I definitely won't be back. But for those of you who are 18+ I'm sure you'll enjoy yourselves.
This is a review for their club/bar space only.
I came here once and was not satisfied. The interior looked exactly like my high school gym, and the few seats scattered around were ripped. There were people all around the bar, and they did not check for IDs. I thought the crowd wasn't as "wild" as other clubs. I later found out that it was a Stanfurd party, which explained a lot. Luckily no one found out I was a Golden Bear, or I would have been jumped by everyone in the room.
DO NOT plan a teen event for your child here or allow them to attend one. there is no supervision, the bouncers are useless. The management is a joke. The police told me that every single teen event here ends bad...alcohol, drugs...the place is disgusting for teens. Completely unnecessary.
Perfectly fine and fun for 21 & over
Went here to see a salsa band, Grupo Niche. Luckily I had VIP and was able to enjoy it from the upstairs area.
But before I even got in, I was not all that satisfied with this place. The bouncer was very nice, the ladies behind the counter taking tickets were friendly and personable, but everyone else was not.
Not sure if it was the promoters or what but they were more concerned with getting their friends in the club. Lots of shouting going on at the entrance and way too many people trying to take tickets. I handed my ticket to one lady and another one asked for my ticket. They were standing next to each other so that made no sense. They seemed very disorganized.
There were entirely too many people here! I'm sure fire codes were broken. There was a good mix of people but when it got too crowded, it was hard not to get groped when you walked around. I smacked a couple of hands and gave a lot of stink eye that night. The club has really open floor space with some tables on one wall and the bar on the other. Then there is another area where the restaurant usually is that was also open. Another bar area there too. The space is pretty but it's hard to enjoy when there are so many people.
Thank the powers that be for VIP cause when all that mess got old, I went upstairs and really enjoyed myself listening to great music and dancing along.
Not a place I would willingly go to but if there's a good band playing, I might make an exception.
I'm a salsa dancer and I love Julio Bravo so I decided to try out Illusions night club to see the band last night. Â Well it was my first and last time at the night club.
1) All of the staff was rude and/or completely out of it (like on drugs)
2) They opened the doors late so the lesson started late and the salsa instructor was horrible. Â
3) The drinks are way over priced and small in size.
4) The crowd was shady and mostly NOT salsa dancers
5) The band started 1 1/2 hours late and took a long break.
6) The music was way too loud
I have never been to a salsa club that was this bad. Â I will stick to the salsa venues in SF and Alberto's in Mountain View!!
This review is for the salsa night only.
It was nice to see some familiar faces from Alberto's there. Â It's a pretty decent venue, the decor is fine and it's clean. Â My main gripe is that there's a really annoying strobe light that seems to flash constantly. Â That works fine as an intermittent thing in a regular club, but for salsa I find it really distracting since I'm looking for my partner's hand so I can grab it, and that's hard to do when it's flashing around. Also, the strobe should not be flashing constantly, in some jurisdictions they even have regulations against that. I ended up getting a headache and had to leave.
The dance floor was a bit crowded but you can hardly blame the venue for that. The wallflower gallery is pretty big here too, but again that's not the venue's fault. Â I just wish the non-dancing guys would spread out a little or go and find a seat instead of standing around the edge of the floor clutching their beers and acting like they're watching a movie.
On a minor point, I got a mojito and it tasted very watery, and it was served in a plastic cup which was very disappointing. Do they not trust us with glasses?
My biggest problem was getting yelled at by the doorman when I was trying to figure out my way out. "HEY!!!" he yelled after me. I was a bit shocked to realise he was talking to me - I'm used to people saying "Excuse me" or "sir" if they want my attention. Â "What?" I asked. "THE DOOR!!" he screamed. "What about it?" says I. "Can you close it?!" he yelled sarcastically.
I shut the door behind me.
never again,
this place is so cramped and ghetto looking. Went here on friday, stayed for about 30 minutes and left. the music sucked, the atmosphere in the room sucked, but my company was what kept it alive.
10 dollars a person, and parking is hard to find.
not much i could really say about this place but how small and lame this place is.
This is only reviewing their salsa nights.
So the place is pretty new (at least for salsa?), and the venue is awesome. Â The crowd here is pretty varied--the first time I went, I had some great dances, but the second time I got mainly sketchy dances or dances with no timing.
The place gets REALLY crowded. Â Like really really, making it impossible to finish a song without bruises and other battle scars. Â Think salsa bumper cars. Â People do not respect each others spaces. Â The second time I went, someone stepped on my jeans (which aren't that long) twice so I couldn't move for several seconds, then got glares from them. Â Okay...
Later (11:30? 12?) it turned more into a club club--band that played mostly merengue, people waving their hands around, blah, meh.
Then it's back to salsa for a little bit--the crowd thins a bit, but by then only the super awesome salsa people remain, and it gets hard finding a dancer at the same level.
Overall, their main problem is they are too crowded. Â And a little too clubby for me, but most people I went with had lots of fun.
Service is great. Â It was very quiet there tonight. Â I just became aware that California is not "downtown". Â Oh well, sign me up!
Great service and place to ourselves. Â We got drinks and the veegie plate for share and two of the chicken kabob for share. Â It was an enjoyable time and worth a try.
Apart from opening an HOUR late, I thought it was pretty good. Since the restaurant only had 2 tables seated, we had the full attention of the waiter.
I ordered the veggie combo and liked it. Their hummus is to die for! I wish they had whole wheat, or better yer whole grain, pita bread though. Also, I thoroughly enjoyed the rice that came with the combo. Nice presentation as well. My father ordered the beef and said he wish he had stuck with the chicken entree.
The baklava is really good. Definitely have some!
I'm only reviewing the bar/club space.
I went here for a networking happy hour event. The interior of this place is pretty welcoming and the space is huge. I'm not sure if I'd visit when it turns into a club, but it seemed to be a good space for an event. That said, I paid $3 for a bottle of water. The bartender seemed a little overwhelmed. I don't think he expected as many people that showed up.
Sound, like every bar doesn't seem to travel very well. I probably would've been more into networking if there weren't so many people (no one's fault there really) and if it wasn't so loud. It's within walking distance to Caltrain. I just want to curse out the people who can't park in the parking lot across the street. They have weird rules too...2 hours for free til 6pm but you can't re-park in the same lot within 5 hours? I should've tried to find it on the street. The spots are bigger. Oh well. I digress.
The bouncers are extremely nasty. Arranged a meetup here and bouncers made some guys from our meetup stand away from the line and they were frisked thoroughly. They also made some angry comments to the women in the line and finally these folks from the meetup simply left the place. As an organizer, it was the worst feeling ever!
I also happened to call the owner recently to see if he could donate 2 hours of club space during an off-hour so that we could have a fundraiser for Haiti earthquake victims. His response "What's my benefit?" and then "Sorry, but my club does not have time for these things".. I was speechless!
Please don't let this place go under. PLEASE. The food is so good and the white tablecloths are a lovely touch. Yet when I went there today, there was COUNTRY music blaring. I asked the waiter to either change it or turn it down; there were 2 other tables full, so I didn't think it was a big deal. It wasn't, but he switched it to Reggae. Then after a while came the Boyz II Men station. For the love of god. How about you put it on something I dunno, MEDITERRANEAN??? and preferably instrumental.
But the food in this place really rocks. It wasn't busy and there was a general business is not so good vibe to the place today. I really hope I'm wrong.
This place is in the same building as the Illusions nightclub which has the same owners. The club is another story but the restaurants rocks.
I was surprised that this place was not very busy for dinner last night. Perhaps a function of being on California which does not get as busy as University in the evenings. We almost had the whole restaurant to ourselves. Tried arrack for the first which is a licorice flavored alcoholic drink. This is probably and acquired taste which I have not acquired yet, so cannot recommend except for the brave. Everything we ate was delicious from the baba ghanoush, hummus w chicken, kebabs to desserts. I high recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet restaurant where you can actually talk with great food.
How I got to five stars:
1. Service, top-notch
2. food:
 .a).swordfish kebab delectable
.b) cous cous so good it was named twice
3. ambiance, candles, lighting etc...
4. strong drinks
5. private location on california, I wanted to a be in a place where I couldn't hear myself talk I'd go to a sidewalk café on University
My friend booked her birthday party there, months in advance and was told that each person would pay for their food and 5 dollars for entry.
Everyone was okay with that especially because there would be good music and dancing.
However, when we got there and everyone in our 25 people party started showing up, there was a different story. First of all the place is completely empty of people. There is no music playing. Then the manager comes to us and tells us that we have to give him $500 dollars upfront. Which is ridiculous because they never mentioned this in the 2 months before that she booked it. Then on top of that, the band that was supposed to be playing that night was not good dancing music. We decided to go somewhere else and our bill came out to like $452.
We just all felt that the management was being rude. And poor girl on her birthday was so stressed out.
I wouldnt book here or go here ever again for this bad service. It was just ridiculous that they couldnt have told her that before.
I'm writing this review strictly on the "club" they have here on weekends. I came here for a friends birthday.. I should've known not to go when I found out it was 18+. Anyways, we went and right when we stepped in we thought-- high school dance. The "dance floor" looked like it was a gym but they dimmed the lights and added a few flashy lights and a little stage. One of my girlfriends was asked "hey what school do you go to?" I haven't heard that since I was in.. high school! The place wasn't really packed, but what it was packed with guys that were hoping theyd be able to pickup/dance with a girl. To top it off, the music wasn't even that great.
Never again!
The main courses didn't seem to be so appealing so a couple of friends and I ordered several appetizers.
+1 for the hummus. Yum-o as an obnoxious Rachel Ray would put it
+1 for the yogurt, spearmint, and olive oil dip
+1/2 star for the falael- crunchy and yummy, tahini dip wasn't bitter. Bonus.
+1/2 star for the belly dancer whose navel was in our faces for a good 2-3 minutes.
-1 star. Their beef and lamb seasoning. We ordered beef filled phillo-dough dumplings that were soggy on the inside. The beef was too sweet and overpowered the pine nuts.
-1 star for the jerky bartender who gave us 'tude for having to take our drinks back. It was the wrong order!!! You work in the food industry, deal with it!
Decor, ambience, food...about a 3.5 overall. Â One of my neighbors is Lebanese so I've gotten a liking to some home-cooked Lebanese/Armenian food. Â Although this place doesn't disappoint, it also didn't impress me by way of their food. Â We had the Fattoush salad and Falafel to start. Â I like the Fattoush salad but the Falafel seemed a bit "over-fried" and dry. Â For entrees we had Kafta Meshwi (lamb and beef), swordfish kabob, and Farrouge Meshwi (chicken). Â Again, not as juicy and flavorful as some of the smaller mom & pop "mediterranean cafes I've been to. Â Wine list was pretty limited and marked up a bit pricey. Â They did offer a fav malbec of mine, Terraza, which I enjoyed with the meat offerings. Â
The restaurant has a larger back room that is set up to be a club (club lighting w/ DJ booth) after dinner so next time I may look into a weekend nite to see how the nite scene is here. Â Oh I almost forgot, during dinner there was a belly dancer that entertained the diners with her shake & jiggles which gave it a more ethnic experience.
The decent service and the nice ambience/decor brought the overall experience to a 3.5 rating. Â In my travels for work, every time I'm in Fresno there's a lil persian cafe, Pars Cafe, that I go and get my "kabob fix." Â The combo chicken and beef kabob w/ rice and salad for $14 fills me up and puts a smile on my face.
Excellent food, good service, nice ambiance
My coworkers and I had a big lunch here the other day. Highlights included warm, soft pita bread, tasty grilled meats and yummy baklava. I can't tell you about the prices since everything was paid for.
Ambiance was nice. Multi-colored lighting, nice furniture, 4 foot tall bottles of alcohol.. They have a nice patio, although it probably doesn't get much use this time of year (Dec).
What else? Parking isn't much of a problem since there are pretty big lots nearby.
The servers here are friendly and courteous, unfortunately our waitress didn't speak English to well which made ordering and getting more details about the Afghan food a little difficult.
As soon as your seated you get a warm basket of pita bread and some hummus, very tasty. A cool thing to do would be to order a whole bunch of mezzas and eat here tapas style. Unfortunately, out of the three mezzas we ordered only one stood out, the Mosakka Bodenan - baked eggplant w/garbanzo beans came out to be delicious. The other, Na'anek, grilled lamb sausage came out luke warm and shriveled up, think bbq'd vienna sausages.
The mixed grill plate was phenomenal with the kafta, chicken, and beef coming out juicy and tender on a bed of onions, bell peppers, and pickled items. A definite must order.
The belly dancer was awesome and brought in a cool cultural energy to the restaurant.
If you sit near the bar, try looking for the biggest bottle of grey goose you will ever see.
I came here for an outdoor mingler event. Â The appetizers were good. Â However, these idiots charged me for someone ELSE's tab at the bar, even after I pointed out that it was not mine and made them re-do it and only signed the correct one (which I was charged for as well). Â I just don't have patience for that kind of bullshit.
Update: Up 2 stars because the manager promptly returned my call and refunded the overcharge. Â Mistakes can happen, I suppose. :P
Positives:
The atmosphere and ambience was awesome
Food was tasty and interesting. Let me tell you again. I am not a Greek Food fan, or a lebonanese food fan either. But it was definitely good.
There is a bar and t.v.
On some nights they have a live belly dance. Which is so cool,
Negatives:
The acoustics, is horrible. Its extremely hard to talk to other people. The noise bounces off the walls cancelling each other out. Its just plan loud there.
The service was not to good. It may be an isolated incident. But our help didnt tell us the specials. Didnt greet us. Rarely came by. And poured different bottles of wine in the same glass instead of exchanging the old with a new. one.
In general, I think its a defiinite place to try out. Things are looking up for this area.
I'd have to say that this restaurant is rather vegetarian unfriendly, with very few veggie choices. Â That said, the dish I ordered absolutely rocked. Â The appetizers were incredible as well, we went through all the pita and almost the second round of pita too. Â Simply delicious. Â I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place, with plenty of space, warm heaters, chill conversation. Â The belly dancer was an interesting twist, I can't say I've seen that in Palo Alto before. Â I found it somewhat disturbing when a 7 or so year old kid was stuffing dollar bills down her pants, but both parents were around and they seemed to approve, so what the heck.
All my friends seemed to dig the food, so I'd almost give it 5 stars, if not for the so so Turkish coffee and the lack of more vegetarian options for me. Â Service, atmosphere, food, and price were all impeccable.
Four stars for the club space at Illusions, 3 stars for the party actually thrown here.
Imagine being thrown in a room full of awesome first year Stanford Law students *but the music is too loud to talk to any of them*! Â And talk you must because the only other option is booty dancing with a 1L. Â And that's just ... not right.
The dance floor was oddly slippery and sticky for a club. Â Perhaps the open bar earlier in the night made people less careful about their precious drinkies. Â Something about having that otherwise 7 dollar drink be free must make people want to fling it to the ground, I guess.
I've been to Illusions (the party space you can rent out) for two entirely different events - a networking mixer for techies called Stirr, and that Stanford grad students' birthday party that Fen mentioned.
So for Stirr, I do have to say the wide open space of the area was a pleasant surprise for once, because we're usually crammed into smaller spaces (or just oddly shaped ones which make wading thru crowds difficult). And for the Stanford party... the DJs were able to play their mediocre music way too freaking loud.
And for some time, we were bewitched, bothered, and bewildered by shapely women belly dancing on the big screens scattered about. Kinda odd.
Is it called Illusions or Fayrouz? It took me a moment to realize that "Super Club" was a pun and not a typo. I'm not exactly sure where the nightclub ends and the Lebanese restaurant begins, but I am impressed by the decor and excellent service at this large venue, which used to be the Edge nightclub at the end of California Ave. in Palo Alto (Vortex and Keystone before that.) The food is pretty good, although I need to order more of the mezzas next time to sample a wider variety of dishes.
After we got settled, a basket of warm sliced pita bread arrived with a plate of sour cream and spiced olive oil. The dip created a perfect blend to whet the appetite. During our meal we asked for (and received) a refill of dip so we could finish the pita, since we scarfed up the first batch.
We ordered only two dishes on this first visit, both main courses. First arrived a fresh green salad, followed soon thereafter by dinner. This felt a bit rushed, as we had only started our salads, and had to shuffle plates and shovel food a bit to make room on the table.
Chicken Shawarma ($15.95) had a bright flavor profile, although it seemed a bit simple. A small mound of chopped marinated chicken white meat came mixed with bits of bell pepper, alongside some pickle slices, rice pallau and yogurt sauce. I probably wouldn't order this again, in preference for something more uniquely flavored.
The Kafta-Meshwi ($15.95) reminded me of the kubideh that I have often enjoyed at Rose Market on Castro St. in Mountain View. A tender and flavorful skewer of spiced ground lamb and beef arrived on a platter with rice pallau and sliced onion. Such skewers can become dry and mealy when overcooked, but this one was perfectly succulent. I made savory little bite-sized sandwiched with the pita and my extra salad.
We ordered a pot of mint tea ($4) which complemented the herbs in the meal nicely. The wine list struck me as rather overpriced, with some of the mark-ups hovering at 300% over retail. I've made this point elsewhere, but I'll say it again here: if a restaurant charges a fair mark-up on their wine list (double wholesale for example) they will sell more wine and make more money in the long run. I can't imagine paying $325 for Opus One or $225 for Dom Perignon. On the other hand, I do want to try the more affordable Lebanese wine that Illusions offers. Corkage fee runs $15, which might be a worthwhile option for connoiseurs.
Overall, we felt inclined to return to Illusions (or Fayrouz, or whatever it's called) to sample more of its cuisine. The club also advertises belly dancing on Friday nights, but we're likely to avoid those nights in preference for a slightly calmer environment. (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.flavornotes.com&s=250e48bc58f03b836eeb0f16f526f0823d06e67d5e701e17502da1a8a729ba2a" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.flavornotes.c…</a>)
Really good food, super nice staff, but the service was painfully slow. In the supper club area (the inner hall) they seemed to kiss ass for the "VIP" section and forget about us commoners seated only 10 feet away. That said, they have good entertainment (bands with dancers), though it is pricey.
But you do have the option of staying in the outer, non-supper-club area for just food/bar. Equally nice staff, and dancers on weekends.
Fabulous!
It's more tapas style Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food, but it's hella good (I emphasize the hella). Â We got about 8 dishes, all of them were wonderful. Â Also, we sat out on this beautiful little patio, it was great to just chat and take our time with dinner. Â
The service was great, the wine was excellent, and I really enjoyed my experience here. Â It's a great place for a date, or to make an evening of a slow dinner with friends.
***Visit number 2: Â Still awesome! Â All of the mezza (small plates) were very delicious, wonderfully flavored and overall just delicious. Â We hookah-ed afterwards, and it was really nice, relaxing on their patio.
Also, this place looks horribly tacky from the outside and has an even worse name... but it's actually very beautiful inside, and has excellent service. Â Highly recommended!
This place just opened up a month ago in place of the (good riddance) Edge nightclub, and I hope it stays around! Â It's confusing, but this place has two names- I think the "Fayrouz" part applies to lunch and "Illusions" is for dinner and the evening bellydancing shows. Â I stopped in for lunch and everything I had was delicious, even the spread that came with the pita bread at the start. Â The dishes are predominantly Lebanese (including several vegetarian items), and they even have Lebanese wine! Â (I asked and was told the chef is Lebanese, while the owner's Persian.) Â I don't think I saw it on the menu, but they have Turkish coffee if you ask for it. Â Also, there's a giant screen above the bar showing women doing bellydancing routines, if you're into that sort of thing (and I am :P).
Â
