    Two words: food poisoning

It's a dive.  Good food and spotty service.  I've never left unhappy.

This is my first time here, and based on the food and service I think it is an easy 4 stars.

I had the Reuben and Casey had the chicken salad club sammy. My Reuben was excellent!  Casey gobbled his sammy up so it must have been good.

The service was pretty good. Our drinks never ran dry.

The Cobblestone also referred to, as the Gobblestone is a tavern style restaurant in Purchase New York. We went as a group of 7 and after hiking for three hours we were starving. So the first thing we order was a spicy plate of nachos. Not soggy chips with meat and no flavor. These were good; crunchy with jalapeños, tomatoes, every style chip, meat and so much cheese we couldn't see anything else. It was large enough for our party of seven, with a little extra. After the plate was demolished, we took a look around. The room we were seated in had unique décor, a nineteen thirties feel with rustic flair. The lighting in our little corner was dim and obscured our view of what we were eating and our view of each other. But in other parts of the restaurant with more windows, it was easier to see for other costumers.  The restaurant is obvious a hot spot for people to get together for lunch, most of the tables were filled, but there was still room for more people. The service was great, our waitress was prompt and saw to our needs quickly. We found that the "Patty Melt" (a burger on grilled rye bread) was done perfectly. The burger was cooked to perfection, and the rye bread was phenomenal. On some of our orders they forgot a few minor requests that were promptly addressed. For some of us this was a first visit, and some have been in here more times than they care to remember. Either way, it was a great visit. One of the best things about the Cobblestone was the atmosphere, it was friendly and we had a great time. I really recommend the Cobblestone to anyone who wants good food, friendly service, and is in need of a good time.

This is where I go for a reasonably priced and tasty burger. Wait staff have always been accommadating and personable.

2 stars because the food wasn't bad but just for fun I'll share a quick story about the last time I was here.

My brother, a couple friends and I came here to watch the game and to have food & a few drinks at the bar. After eating and drinking at the bar for over three hours, not one buyback on even a soda which wouldn't have been an issue if (what appeared to be a regular) didn't come in and get his second beer on the house - granted by the bartender who had been serving us the entire time we were there.

Again, the food wasn't bad but a majority of our bill was on drinks. I might have considered going back if I felt the business we gave this place was even slightly appreciated.

Dark, old looking place that blends in with the neighboring houses... easy to miss.  The typical foods you regularly see on bar-restaurant menus will be OK here.  I had a spicy burger that was nice.  Pleasant service!  This place is in the middle of nowhere, and the beer prices seemed jacked!  $8 for a Yuengling (wow).  Nothing spectacular about this place at all, but I suspect it gets business because there's nowhere else to go nearby.

Just confirming everyone else's rating. This place has a monopoly in this area, otherwise it would be closed. Nice atmosphere, though, that's the 2 stars. With a decent chef they could make some money. At least they can't screw up a beer.

    11/27/11
Had lunch with my husband, sister, and brother-in-law. We waited one full hour for a our lunch. When it finally arrived , it was not hot. The four of us were not served at the same time. In addition, we were not informed that soda refills were an additional &1.99 each.
No one apologized for the terrible service. It was as though this was the usual.
We are not fussy people, but this pushed us over the line.

Ate lunch here this week with some coworkers, and it was truly one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I never give one star - and even THAT is generous! Service was horrendous. One waitress dropped a whole tray of food right next to our table. OK, that can happen to anyone. But then they proceeded to screw up TWO of our lunch orders. There were only four of us, and no one had ordered anything that was remotely complicated. By the time we got our correct order, the other two were nearly done eating. And the food.... Ugh. Cold sweet potato fries. Mushroom "burger" was completely drenched in balsamic vinegar with yet more balsamic reduction dumped on top. It was inedible. I had two bites and gave up. Avoid this dump at all costs.

if you have an afternoon with all the time in the world and like  e coli as a ingredient in your food ..this is the place for you
...50 minutes for a hamburger and  meat so raw they should be reported to the health dept..

.Gordan Ramsey of "Kitchen Nightmares" would love it here.  i guess people go there because they either do not know good food or because logistically it is one of very very few places in that area and i guess some people feel enduring anything is better than starving...although with the long wait you almost are before they get to you.....I KNOW GOOD FOOD AND GOOD SERVICE AND THIS PLACE HAS NEITHER.

I've been there a couple times for lunch, and it's always packed. Expect a minimum of 10-15 minute wait.

The food portion is good for the prices, and for quality, it's exactly what you would expect given the prices. A burger is a average burger - better than fast food, worse than others. Same goes for other dishes as well.

The dishes tend to come out on the colder side, and make sure you grab the waiter as soon as you can to get it heated up. When it's busy it's hard to get them to your attention!

I have been to the Cobble Stone a handful of times & each time has been pretty "eh." This last time I went was downright awful & spurred me to come on here and write a sassy review.

Friends & I always end up going to this place because it's right by our school. Last week a group of 6 of us went for dinner. We sat down and someone took drink orders...then she disappeared and this other guy started waiting on us. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it's happened every time I've gone there and usually leads to some kind of confusion.

Service was slooooow as always. I ordered the chicken pot pie. It was pretty good but wasn't really chicken pot pie, considering it was a dish of pot pie filling with a piece of bread sitting on top. My friend ordered one of the dinner specials, which was a chicken dish. It came with soup, which the waiter didn't bring a spoon for (& it took about 5 minutes to flag him down and get one.) It basically consisted of a chicken breast sitting in a pool of vinegar with some grape tomatoes and a blob of melted mozzarella on top. It was awful.

Things went to a whole new level of crappiness when it came time to pay. I paid with cash but everyone else had cards. Splitting checks there has never been an issue before so we knew they could do it and everything. Everyone wrote their names and the amount they want charged on the back of the check. The waiter took it and came back and we discovered he had simply split the check equally between all the cards. When we came back we asked if he could fix it because we'd written the amounts we wanted on each card on the back. He replied "uhhh, I guess, but it's kind of a pain in the ass." Um, really? First off, you should never use language like that with a customer.  Secondly, I currently work for a bar/restaurant in the city & have worked at many other places with credit card terminals, and so I know that it's not hard to correct an incorrect credit card transaction. It takes about 5 pushes of a button to either void it or do a refund. Does that really constitute a "pain in the ass?" I think not.

Shitty service + mediocre overpriced food = not going here ever again. Friends have told me they've seen roaches in the place too but I can't personally vouch for that.

Update alert! New chef at Cobble Stone has added BBQ and ribs to the menu with several other small upgrades, including organic burger option (and stuffed burger!). It looks like some of the attention that has been so carefully bestowed on the Creek will now be trained on the Cobble Stone.

Still among the best draft beers around and the place to go for a real bar and grill, but I have tried some of the upscale menu items lately, and I am impressed with the freshness and variety. Sweet potato fries are still great, but the mixed veggies as a substitute did not leave me unsatisfied. Very happy moves going on here!

In every great sitcom, the gang converges on the local watering hole after work or while out for play. To help support local business, my pals and I frequent the Cobble Stone. The menu is diverse, but has a soulful homecooked taste to every dish.

Being a fan of a low key place to unwind close to home, makes CS my number one favorite place.

I have been there a couple of times. Last time they finally had a new kitchen.

Food and service was very good, like always. Some complain about the service, but I can not agree. Even if I have to admit that other restaurants serve faster. If time is not an issue, you will leave happy!

For me it's more important to get my burger as ordered and not dry and as tough as leather.

Went here the other night with a large group...we stayed in the bar area and ordered drinks and food...  Quite possibly the worst and rudest service I have seen in a long time.  If it were possible to give 0 stars I would...............

The food wasnt great either, usual fried stuff...

Their kitchen is undergoing renovations. The food took 30 minutes to arrive. The food when it finally got here was good. I order the blacken catfish, well flavored and moist. The service was horrendous. I got a salad with no utensils. Asked three times and finally got a set of plastic knife and fork.  I understand that the kitchen is slow during the renovation but no reason for the bad service. If you want well priced food and do not mind bad service, this is the place for you. I think they can do better.

Unfortunately for the past several times I've been here, service has been extremely spotty.  It seems like the same two people are always serving and they disappear for 15+ minutes at a time.  I've been getting fed up waiting to pay for the dinner and end up finding them them hidden at the corner of the restaurant eating and chatting.

Solid standard well executed bar food.  B urgers came out cooked as ordered, Wings piping hot.  Sweet potato fries excellent.   15 beers on tap.  Keep things simple here and you will leave happy without much of a dent on your wallet.

LIke most college/local bars,  this could use a good cleaning,  but maybe the grittiness is just part of the atmosphere.   I will  definitely go back.

I went here almost once a week while at Suny Purchase. The sweet potato fries are so good! They have a really good turkey burger..and those are the only two things I ever ordered so I can't say much about the rest of the menu. A great place for casual lunch if you want a burger or a sandwich.

A cute place to have a conversation over lunch or dinner. Very standard array of decently priced salads, burgers, and sandwiches. The food came quickly.. the portions were generous..

4 stars compared to the campus food I'm subject to eating 90% of the time, 3 stars in the real world.

Damn I love this place. The food is always good and inexpensive. There's a bar area with several TV screens if you're so inclined. Being situated near several private country clubs certainly brings in the doctors golfing on their days off, but they're having dinner elbow-to-elbow with the guy who cuts their lawn and repairs their roof. Truly a place to satisfy the masses.

Casual out of the way restaurant and bar.  The menu has so many great choices at reasonable prices.  My picks for a good burger, sandwich, chili or salad.  Also try the popper they are extremely cheesey "mmm".  My favorite time to eat here is during off eating hours because the dining room gives you that intimate feel in lieu of the busy loud bustle during prime feeding hours.
