    Cobblestones sucks...period.

Where the heck are the managers?  Who's running this place?

If I could give zero stars, I probably would.  As it is, Cobblestones gets one star for its beer selection.  That is really the only redeeming quality of this overrated hole in the wall.

We had one of the worst servers of all time.  Let me say that this wasn't entirely his fault.  He started our dining experience by telling us this was "his 4th night so take it easy on me".  ??  This was the Friday night before St. Patty's Day and you leave a 4 day server by himself?  Really Cobblestones?  We were a table of 8 and he also had another table of 8 behind us.  From their overheard conversations, their experience was just as bad as ours.  Long story short for them, they received 7 entrees and 1 person didn't get theirs.  About 1 hour later, this poor lady received her burger and several others in the party already had their jackets on.  Where was the manager during this??

It takes forever to get a beer when you are sitting at a table.  Forever.  If you have a table, you might be better off going to the bar and getting it yourself.  Bad part is the bar is a 1/2 mile away.

We ordered 4 appetizers for the table.  They were the fried pickles, calamari, crab dip on a pretzel, and spinach artichoke dip.  Another reviewer said the pickles were the only good thing about this place.  They might be right.  They were good but C'MON, they are pickles that are battered and deep-fried.  How can you screw that up?  The calamari were weird but they weren't terrible.  We wanted marinara sauce with them but they were out of it!!  You're kidding, right?  The crab dip was WAY too salty.  The spinach artichoke dip can be bought in the local grocery store freezer section.

We ordered our dinners sometime during this debacle.  At one point, the server brought 3 salads.  He said the entrees come with either soup or salad BUT we were all getting salads.  At no time did he ask us for this option.  That is terrible!  If I thought for one second that it wouldn't take 2 hours to get a soup, i would have sent the salad back.  Apparently, you can get some sort of rolls with your dinner as well for an extra charge but we were never given that option either.

The entrees arrived.  My wife ordered some Eggplant Tomato thing and i got the Guinness Short Ribs.  My wife said her dish tasted like balsamic vinegar and nothing else.  It was overdone and the cheese on top was gummy.  They screwed up the Short Ribs.  Someone teach the chef how to braise because he stinks at it.  The garlic mashed were good but mashed potatoes with garlic and butter are always good.  These were the worst Short Ribs I've ever had.  The server gave my wife fries with hers.  She didn't ask for them but they charged her an extra dollar!!

The beer selection was good but they were out of a few of them.  Of course, it took the server 15 minutes to find out this information so we started ordering drinks with an "alternate" just in case they didn't have something.  We usually got the alternate.

One of our party went to the bathroom.  On her way back to the table, she was accosted by one of the bouncers and asked for her ID.  C'mon you bloated idiot, you are a bouncer.  Pay attention to your surroundings and know what the eff you are doing.

One of our party arrived a little late.  She had already eaten so all she wanted was a Framboise and a water.  I don't believe she ever got the water.  The Framboise arrived 45 minutes later but not before the server said it was "tapped".  Hey D-bag, the Franboise is a bottle beer.

Cobblestones failed.  They threw a green server to the wolves.  That is all on them.  The food sucks, the atmosphere sucks, the beer selection is good.

    We won't be back.

If not for the awesome, awesome tap list, this is not a place I would typically hang out.  The place is huge, impersonal, and lacking in atmosphere.  But our purpose in York was to try as many new beers as possible, so we added Cobblestone's to our list of places to visit.  We had some excellent beers, a few of which were limited release beers and not super easy to find.  Score!
They let you do samplers for beer - you pick any six beers off the tap list.  An excellent feature if you want to try a bunch of different things.  We also had a few appetizers (got to balance some food in with the beer, after all) - Sweet potato fries (tasty!), and a quesadilla (they never brought out the salsa or guacamole - sadface!).
Our first server sort of dropped off the face of the earth, but luckily another staff member noticed that we were being overlooked and came by our table several times to refill water, clear away plates, etc.
Like I said, we came for the beer.  We were satisfied by the beer.

Not a bad spot, but not great either.  Good wings and ok beer deals.  The three times I've been there, there wasn't much of a crowd for the games on.  The main TVs are projection and aren't that great with all the light pollution.  Seems like a lot of regulars... Just discovered they have bubble hockey in the corner... Awesome!  Extra points!

Oh boy, Princess St. What an absolutely lovely location to be at night...or any time for that matter...

This is like the Wal-Mart of bars. It's as big as Wal-Mart, and has tons of beers (well, when they actually have them filled). It also has the Wal-Mart crowd. I can't really consider this a sports bar. I'm not sure how they got the rep of a sports bar.

If you have a table with some friends, it's difficult to get waited on, or get waited on correctly. If you don't have a table, it's a pain. You have to walk miles to the bar or talk to some server who might get you your drink sometime within the next hour. I'm certain there are times that I did not pay for all I drank, because between starting a tab upstairs, starting one at a table if we had one, and then playing pool and either walking up to the bar or flagging down a server, you have a bajillion tabs. If you can keep track of them all, you don't know who to tip.

The food is nothing spectacular, and mixed drinks are also nothing special.

I was there one time when a co-worker who was 19 was admitted. She was told "don't drink, we'll be watching you" (which she didn't, because she's not a drinker), but that should not happen. Not my problem, but it's unprofessional.

I want to preface this review with the following statements... I love dive bars, I love sports bars, and I am pretty much comfortable anywhere I go so by no means am I being uber critical of my experience here at Cobblestones.  I mean, they had deep fried pickles on the menu, so they get at least two stars for that reason alone.

The pickles turned out to be the only redeeming factor in this place (that and the one nice waitress who took over for the world's biggest moron who we initially had the pleasure of waiting on us).  Every beer my husband asked for they seemed to be out of... finally he found one that they did have.  After that first drink... our waitress disappeared into an abyss and seemed to be acting like she was working as a cocktail waitress in the busiest clubs in Manhattan.  This was definitely not the case at this place... they were NOT busy so this was inexcusable.  Finally, after a complaint to someone, we had someone new assisting us.

I am big on service... and it did not really seem to exist here until we asked for it... the beer selection was decent but since they were out of everything they seem to do a poor job of keeping a lot of it in stock.  Will I be back?  Maybe but it won't be because of my experience there or their service.  It will be because we are back visiting and it is one of our only options.

I have mixed emotions on Cobblestones.  About 10 years ago this was a pretty regular hang out for me, but the ownership has changed and so has the atmosphere.  The place is huge and at one time it was standing room only, unless you got there early enough to find a table or seat at the bar.  Alas, now you can go there at just about anytime and find somewhere to sit without even having to search.  The one thing many people will enjoy, is there is no smoking allowed here. The one thing many will not enjoy is the fact that there is no true parking for Cobblestones.  The best place to park is across the street in the Sovereign Bank parking lot.

There are actually 2 bars here.  There is a large bar on the ground level as well as a smaller bar upstairs.  The ground level bar is where you can watch all the sports and play pool or foosball and the upstairs bar is more of a dance club vibe, although the dance floor usually consists of several women of various ages dancing with each other.  On the ground level, you can find lots of pool tables and even a few foosball tables to keep you entertained, in addition to the numerous TV's they have to keep an eye on all the sports scores.

The food I've had here is nothing special and probably a little overpriced for what you get, but I'll admit it has been several years since I've even attempted to eat here.  If you like trying different beers, this place does have one of the best beer selections in York.  You can certainly find lots of different beers here that you will not be able to get many places in York.

All in all, I've never run into the horrible service that many people reviewing this place have experienced.  I do typically just come up to the bar to get my drinks when I am here though, so maybe I just know the right areas of the bar to stand to get noticed.  I am in no way saying the service is stellar, but rather I have never experienced the level of horrible service other people had.  If you like trying different beers and want to remain in the York area, this is probably the best place to come.

I'm new to York and this was one of the first places my boyfriend took me to. We went there because we knew both our favorite football teams would be on and its so easy to see the huge screens no matter where you sit.  I am a dark beer fan, and I love trying new brews. This place has them all!!! and the friendly bartenders will give you a sample just in case you are too afraid to leap into a whole glass.  Yesterday I watched my colts play and enjoyed $1.50 Coors Light Drafts. I can only drink them with Lime.. My bartender hooked me up with fresh limes for miles!!! Thanks.  I would recommend this great place, ps. try to cheese shaker on the popcorn they make.  YUM

Cheers for the food, jeers for the service.

I've been here several times, during slow and fast times, and the customer service I've received from the wait staff is always the same. It takes forever to get your waiter/waitress to wait on you, bring your order to you, etc.

But the wait for the food, in my opinion, is worth it. The food there is always delicious (try the crabcakes, filled with crab and spices and very good), and there are plenty of options for someone who wants to customize their meal (example: you can choose to had your burger on an English muffin if you so desire, or change that burger into a grilled chicken).

On another note, this place does tend to get overrun with the college crowd on Friday nights and weekends, so keep that in mind when you go.

Ok maybe Yelp wont filter this review out. I use to love, love Cobbles. I use to tell all my friends and family to go there whenever we had a night out. The building is huge and doesnt get all crammed like a lot of bars do. This is the only good thing I can say about this place now. It has gone downhill so fast that I, once a loyal patron, will never step foot into this place again. I am sick and tired of the rude wait staff who act like you are bothering them, the tenders who are rude and will serve their friends 10 times before they even bother looking at you, and the bouncers. Yup, this place has bouncers. The kind that like to over-assert themselves with the customers. Once time a group of us were standing on the top balcony and a bouncer bumped into my friend causing him to spill his drink and the bouncer just says "you shouldnt stand there" and walked away. I just got sick and tired of going in there and seeing patrons be taken ahold of, by the throat mind you, and physically removed from the bar. I have seen it first hand. One kid was sitting at the bar on a bar stool and I guess he said the wrong thing to the bartender. Next thing you know 6 bouncers are grabbing this kid, calling him homophobic slurs and racial slurs, throwing him against the outside hallway walls. I just have seen that happen so many times that I cannot honestly think that this is ok. These bouncers need to be removed, the tenders changed out to people who care about what they are doing, and maybe some more mature waitresses. Shame on you Cobbles, shame!!!

Hostess got us a seat right away on a crowded night and we had a large group. Good atmosphere, average service. The food is good for bar food but nothing special. I recommend the pretzel burger, and the wings are good as well.

One word, BEER!  The beer selection at Cobblestone's is quite impressive.  In fact, I would go so far as to say it's the best I've ever seen.  On top of all of the wonderful beer goodness, they offer a great menu of delicious dining options (mostly your typical bar-food type stuff, but oh so good).  They offer a relaxed, sports-bar-like atmosphere including pool tables, video games and tons of flat-screen TVs (several of the booths have their own flat screen TV for patrons to choose what they watch right at their tables).

It is more of a college crowd than other downtown York establishments, which I sometimes find annoying, but its really nothing like obnoxious college crowds that fill State College's bars.

Beware! We have had several bad experiences at Cobblestone's and if you do have a problem, Chris the "Manager" will ask you to leave, rather than trying to resolve the problem.  Cobblestones is actively fraudlenty running drink specials which include a free glass with the beverage, however they will only honor this on your first beverage (even if you purchase multiple drinks).  We attempted to argue this point with Chris the "Manager", however he became rude and argumentive and had one of his employees ask us to leave.

This place has lost many of its customers, the food quality is low, service and management dont care about their customers..

    STAY AWAY FROM COBBLESTONES!

I have been coming to Cobblestone's since they originally opened and I lived around the corner diagonally from the post office years ago so I have frequented the place over the years. I wanted to go out for a birthday beer with my wife and for beer bars they have the best tap selection in York. Cobblestone's has increased the quality of their beer menu and service in general recently. I have been here on the weekend and it can become very crowded with local college students patronizing the bar. I prefer the week for a more laid back and relaxed vibe.

We came in before they opened and were allowed to chill until the proper opening since they just changed their summer hours to a few hours later(6:30). The beer selection is very good with choices from the West Coast -Stone, Rogue and Coronado and midwest: Dark Horse, Bells and Founders as well as local faves like Dogfish Head, Victory, Stoudt's and Troegs. We were served our drinks and my Rogue John John was in a soap streaked glass. I mentioned how it robbed the beer of the head and carbonation and the bartender replaced it with a beerclean glass.

I have had dinner and the food is decent with mainly bar type food, but some entrees that are off beat and the wraps are always fresh and delicious. We had Nachos which were loaded and the cheese was a mix of melted cheddar and liquid nacho which was flavorful with some jalapenos for spice. The pricing and portions of the beer and food are reasonable and I will definitely return as long as they keep up the fresh rotating taps which include Smuttynose seasonals and some interesting Belgian options like Saison Dupont and Allagash. They have brought Duck Rabbit, Lagunitas, Great Divide and Terrapin to the selection which is great.

Staying in York for a couple weeks and ended up here quite a bit along with White Rose.   Lots of beer, pool, buzztime and a good crowd on weekends.  Food is ok for bar food but stay away from the crab dip.  Good crowd on weekends.

Not in the best part of town but never had any issues.

It's easy to drive past this place - the bar is situated inside the building with no "store front" entrance - the front doors are saddled by retail store fronts.

But... Cobblestones is a HUGE bar with lots of seating and a bar that seats like 50 people. It has the best beer selection in York (including, national, local, regional brews). If you are a lover of all things made of hops and barley, you will like this place. The bartenders are really friendly, and they love beer too - which is nice because they can make recommendations based on what you want. They have lots of seasonal beer and change their draft lines often so you can really experience all that the regional breweries have to offer.  They also have "meet the brewer" nights, which is nice because you can ask all your burning micro-brew questions.

I was surprised with some of their food, even though it's bar food. The wraps are really good - and they have a big selection. My husband gets the wings a lot, and he thinks they rate about an 7 on a scale of 10.

We prefer to go here a little early because on certain nights, around 10:30, the college kids come out - college kids are not there every night but one or two nights for sure (I think there are big beer specials and those are the nights to avoid). We have heard that the service gets bad when the crowds come.

They have big TV screens, so I am assuming they have sporting events.

The wait staff is OK. We like to sit at the bar - the service is way better.

You can't smoke here, so the smokers usually congregate out front.

Worth the visit for all you REAL beer lovers.

Oh, Cobblestones, how you deserve 5 stars.

Food is...okay. It's good, really. Pretzel sandwiches, great chili, okay wings, good fries. Just a mish-mash of quality and selection. One thing isn't ever going to blow you away but they have enough for everything.

The beer? Absolutely the best selection in York county...in theory. Lots of times they don't have the beer you want, or the beer they have listed. 50% of the time the keg is kicked, 50% of the time the bartender can't find the bottle you're asking for or hear you over the loud folks playing pool.

Listen, they've got great beer, normally decent food, but the crowd just isn't my style. That doesn't mean it isn't yours.

I'm not a HUGE sports fan, but if I was- i'd be here weekly.

PS: The place is freaking huge.

Tons of beer, tons of food, and tons of square footage. We were there on a Saturday afternoon, and while it's a great place to go have your choice of beer (70 on tap) or game (many, many tv's), the service left me disappointed. For what I assume was the slowest part of their day, it still took 25 minutes to get a refill on a beer (and that was before the waitress had to come back 2 more times to tell me that they were out of both of my choices....stick with Miller or Bud and you may have better luck). The menu is upscale bar food- decent prices, lots of choices for sides, plenty of healthy options. The turkey pretzel sandwich was great, as were the sweet potato fries. I wouldn't make this a stop just for eats, but if you need a game or a beer, then this is your place.

This place is GIGANTIC with an amazing selection of beers on tap. They also run ridiculous drink specials. It is a great place to go and be reminded of why I moved out of York County too! I brought some friends here from Philadelphia for karaoke, and the crowd was filled with douchebags. Someone heckled my friend when she got up to sing, yelling "what are you wearing?", and then later we saw the same dude cause a huge brawl to break out.

Cobblestone's food is fairly decent. Not a bad reuben.  And the siracha wings are yummy. My wife digs the deep fried pickles.  But it's basically pub food.

That said, the alcohol selection in the beer arena is superb. On tap are dozens of microbrews, craft beer, belgiums, imports, etc.

We'd go a lot more if there wasn't smoking. Especially with out daughter, we try to avoid smoke.  Not really kid friendly on the weekend, but not so bad during the week.

They used to have some awesome Happy Hour deals for food. But now, eh, not so much.

Caveats: Parking, what a pain...this place would BOOM if they bought an old building and knocked it down for private parking.

Cobblestones, the cornerstone (or the keystone if you get the PA reference) to the 25-35 hangout spot.  It doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you walk down the hallway you step into an enormous sports club with pool tables, tv's on some of the tables, and probably the best selection of draft beers in town.

    THAT BEING SAID...

The drinks are a tad expensive and small at that.  I am a big "more for your money" type o' gal, and here, I'm not feeling it.  I was paying $4 for well mixed drinks... and they are small and the bartenders aren't giving a loose pour.  Service at Cobblestones is touch and go.  If you happen to be lucky enough to get a spot at the bar (read: come early) you will have the attention of the bartenders as long as you are fast with your order.  Standing at the bar waiting for them to catch your eye among the sea of other drunks will give you a longer waiting time than at most bars.  Have a table?  Maybe your best bet as long as they are fully staffed that night... again, a crap shoot.

I took a chance and ordered the crab dip when I was there and I have to say it was really really good.  I think the food prices are much more reasonable than the drink prices... but isn't that how it always is?

If you are looking for an after work drink where you can watch part of the game and order some chow, go for it.  For a serious night of drinking, go elsewhere and save some dough.

Great local bar that serves the usual pub grub. Has a large selection of local brews. Always a good time.
