Stopped in for breakfast this morning. Â They did not have their advertised special Swiss oatmeal with toasted almonds. Why advertise if you cant meet demand. Egg panini sandwich was ok, though the apple chicken sausage looked a bit pink.
Other baked goods looked delicious, I will try them next time
I have mad love for the chopped salad at Corner Bakery. This location has a little bar style table lining the window facing Washington for us single diners to people watch. I'm typically seen there...munching on a chopped salad and reading my book...and occasionally savoring a whoopie pie.
Review Source:I don't even know why I stopped in here for a sandwich. I think I would rather overpay for somewhat edible food at the airport than this. $10 to slap together an ice cold sandwich to go. I got the Poblano Fresco with roasted chicken. Everything from the bell peppers, to the chicken, and rock hard bread was cold. Subway does a better job of putting together a sandwich. Then they ingeniously (note sarcasm) put everything loosely in a takeout box. The smallest shake knocked the sandwich apart as I later found myself eating the pieces one by one. I can't believe there is more than one location of this franchise. From the outside, it seems like they serve fresh baked goods, but I was deceived with a cold, unappetizing, unappealing, broken sandwich.
Review Source:Corner Bakery is a good place to have a quick lunch. Today I had Chicken Pomodori Panini (sliced chicken breast, fresh basil and spinach, oven-roasted tomatoes, and provolone cheese with pesto mayo) on sourdough.Sandwich was pretty good. Tasty. I also had yummy baked potato soup garnished with green onion and shredded cheddar cheese.
My husband had Club Panini (smoked turkey breast, smoked bacon, white cheddar cheese, and tomatoes with just a touch of mayo) on sourdough. I tried it and it was tasty too.
They also offer fresh salads, pasta, breakfast sandwiches, scramblers and desserts.
Prices are reasonable. Sandwich combo, 1/2 sandwich with cup of soup or salad and chips is $6-$7. I think this a pretty good alternative to a fast food dining.
Staff was pleasant and quick.
This location is super clean.
And the word of the day is . . . WHY?
There are times when I stumble through my lunch hour, dazed or stressed and not understanding what's going on. There have even been times in my life when I order something or dine out and wonder if I missed some redeeming factor of my experience. But no part of my swiss cheese memory or general ennui can explain this; that I spent $6 for a bowl of chicken noodle soup with no chicken.
The price and quality lead to the logical explanation of Never Again! There are too many better options for soup just as close and cheaper!
No lines, lots of vacant tables to sit at, if you please, and quick service. Though, I'm guessing I missed much of the lunch rush. REALLY good paninis and muffins. I recommend the chicken pomodori panini. Their breads are excellent, and they have a broad array of baked items too, all look fresh and delicious. A nice lunch alternative for me.
