Nice bartenders, cheap wells and keep the jukebox playing or pick up a book in their game/book corner.
They have an array of sandwiches on their menu along with Hank's creamy mac (which I haven't had but heard was amazing), nachos, chips and salsa, popcorn (can't argue with $1 popcorn with beer or a $2 well!). I can't remember what I ate here at hanks a few months back but all I can remember it was delicious, and my boyfriend says the same with whatever he ordered with me.
The bartenders are very friendly and take good care of you.
It's a nice place to take a bunch of people or come alone and leave with new friends.
I will be coming back here if I am in the area!
Keepin this short and sweet. Corner Bar had an amazing beer selection, pool tables, some arcade games, a jukebox, lots of seating for your big hang outs, and a pretty sweet tuna melt. They even made me a grilled cheese with tomato, which I don't think was on the menu but hey. I wanted it. And it was very decent.
They have a pretty non French dip French dip. It was more of a really sad Philly cheesesteak style hoagie. Gnarly. Ick. Aaaaarggggh. Seriously? Pepperjack on a French dip? Dude, though! No! And Pace salsa with just... not... even... good chips. For $5?
The bathrooms were aight and parking was ok. Was a little out of place looking in its suburban surroundings.
I'd go back next time I'm in town. But just for the beers and to watch the males play pool. Tsk, tsk.
Love it!
We have a tendency to be drawn to dives simply for the atmosphere and cheap booze. The corner bar definitely did not disappoint.
Great food options for a bar - and it's quality too; no rat feces or food poisoning!
Decent beer selection - I'm admittedly spoiled on the Parkway and Red Hot
Open pool tables! Â Wait, what? OPEN TABLES? Really? Awesome!!!!!
Phil Collins on the jukebox?!?! Haha! YES! Too cool.
Great place... most of the patrons seem like the overly-friendly, talk-your-ear-off drunks, but I'll take that over pushy douchebags looking to fight any day!
6 months ago I would have given this place a solid 5 star rating without question. Â Here is the good the bad and the oogly!
The good: My go to food order is the club with everything toasted and mac n' cheese....m'm'm'm'm good! Â The perfect bar food to soak up the booze. Â
The bar has been redone a bit with new bathrooms and a couple new machines such as Golden Tee. Â The bar is stocked with two pool tables that come complete with two 10 balls on one table and a few broken cue sticks. Â Still entertaining with the flaws. Â Next the full bar is accompanied with a all in one video machine, and old skool Nintendo (you know the ones you have to blow in to get the games to play) and a juke box that brings the entire bar to song when Jimmy Buffet comes on. Oh and strong drinks to top it off.
The bad: My favorite bartender Red has flown the coop to open his new bar. Â Now there are new bartenders who don't know your name and sometimes bill you for drinks you already paid for or didn't get to enjoy. Take into consideration I am an old patron of the bar so some changes are not always liked. Â New people coming in probably don't really care. Â
Now on to the oogly! I walked into the bathroom recently to two girls doing a line on the bathroom counter. Â Last night a drunken patron walked into the bar with his little dog tucked into his coat and aggressively forced another patron who was just as intoxicated to leave. Â Cause quiet a scene. A few hours later you are startled by another overly intoxicated patron yelling at another patron with the bartender running out after him yelling. Â Drama for yo mamma and it was only Wednesday. Â
I will still visit the CB (Corner Bar) it isn't so bad it's just not as good as it was.
I lived about four blocks from here for maybe 3 years and only went once... not because I didn't like it, but because I really never remembered it was there until the last few months of my Tacoma life.  It's really  a fun place, more entertaining still when someone is thrown through a window, but the ambiance is lively and kinda funny and the regulars are colorful and talkative.  Good prices and selection as well.  Strange location right in family neighborhood, but then, that's part of its' appeal.
Review Source:I'm going to give this establishment a 4 star and hope that my next visit is as deserving as well:)
One thing about the local spots I visit is that my good friend is from this area and always seems to know the owner, bartender or server when we go places, SO I try to be honest on my reviews knowing that I may be getting a little better service than the average Joe, I mean Jane:)
What I LOVED about this place is the location!!! To be honest I would need to look up the place if I was to drive myself because I can't remember exactly were it was, literally on the corner of a street in the cut of a neighborhood somewhere in the Stadium district, LOL'... and no it's not because of my alcohol content but REALLY it's a "hidden" gem. My girlfriend brought her dog and the outside seating area was "dog friendly" so Schotzy was able to wander around on her leash and get lots of loving from the other customers. We tried the food and had a delicious pasta dish and some parmesan fries, I only drank beer on tap this night but the bartender was a doll:)
The Corner Bar is a dream dive for me: solid food, lots of options on tap and in the hard alcohol areas, and I can walk home when I'm done. Â Every drinker should have a corner bar! (Well, this is half a mile from me, but it's a good "walk it off" distance) Â Also worth noting: Â two pool tables.
The cute biker looking bartender/chef is always conversational, friendly and professional all at once. Â $2.50 for my pint of PBR draft??? Â Yes, please! Â
This is not a place you make a special drive for, unless you have friends in the area or used to frequent it regularly. Â It's a place for those who live near, have no pretensions, and want to get their drink on.
This is my home away from home. When I was looking for a new apartment a year ago I made sure it was within walking distance of Hanks (the real name of The Corner Bar). Do not come here to be an asshole or start a fight. This is a chill divey bar full of regulars and all of my friends. There are always good microbrews on tap. FYI the ladies bathroom is for taking pictures or a quick pee only. There is only one stall and the door is so short that you are looking directly at anyone who is waiting in line. So all the bitches taking poops in there NEED TO STOP.
Review Source:I've heard a few people say they've never been in here because it "looks scary" from the outside. Â When I first moved to the neighborhood, I was a little leery myself, but my curiosity got the better of me. Â Once I stepped through the door, I knew I would be a fan.
Back then, it was called Hank's and the air was thick with smoke. Â Now, the name has changed (too bad; it will always be Hank's to me) and smoking has been banned, but it's still a great dive. Â Being in the middle of a residential area, it's always full of locals: UPS undergrads, middle-aged guys with non-ironic mullets, and older folks who never seem to get up from the bar.
They serve some food, and the nachos are passable, but you don't go to a place like this for the food. Â They have a fair variety of beers, including micro-brews. Â There's also a full bar if you're into mixed drinks.
There's a jukebox, billiards, and I think a pinball machine and/or some arcade games... Â I don't really pay much attention to those accessories, because for me, it's just a great place to hang with friends and have a chat over some brewskis. Â I always bring my out-of-town friends here and they always love it.
