The food is a 5
The waitress is a 2 god awful
It's tough  to get a refill on water
The waitress forgot items on the pizza
Then brings them in a Bowl so you put them on your self. The utensils were worn out knifes especially.
Hostess were nice
Place was clean just a bitch of a waitress
With outstanding food
A little attention to detail this place could easily be a five
I've been to this Cosimo's a few times, and I've always enjoyed it. Â Some of the menu items are a little pricey for a chain, but the food is always good as is the service. Â The types of bread served prior to each meal vary, and are always quite good. Â The salads are pretty fresh. Â The appetizers are huge. Â I've tried the pizza & one or two of the pasta dishes, and have been pleased with both. Â The wait staff is kind and attentive, making sure your water glass is always filled and you have what you need.
Review Source:How do I start.......
A group of 3 walked in, got a table for 4 because we had another friend joining us later.....
The waitress walks up asks us what we want to drink and then disappears!!!!!
she comes back LATER and then says will you be waiting for your fourth or are you going to order..... Not knowing that was our plan all along, we know what time they close and we knew what our friend wanted to order... So we placed the order for all 4 of us..... The waitress does not come back. bus boy gives us our food.......
I had to drink the 4th parties water because I couldn't find anyone to ask for more. Finally she comes back I, yes, I had to ask her for the dessert Menu- she didn't offer. I almost didn't want to order because of her attitude but I really wanted dessert.
My first time there and its such a shame to have an experience so cold. I don't know if she was having a bad day or because it was close to closing, But the only thing that stopped this place from getting a 2 was for the fact that the food was actually pretty tasty- not perfect but good.
Its a shame the food choices are limited around here- which probably means I may end up going back there even if not by choice..... Ill try to order to go!
When you walk into this restaurant you smell the wonderful Italian foods being prepared and the gourmet pizzas coming out of the brick oven. The pasta dishes and pizza are quite tasty, but are only the beginning of their menu. They also have many well prepared entrees make with fresh ingredients and perfectly seasoned.
The dining room is comfortable and nicely decorated.
I went to this restaurant in April for my birthday celebration. Â We had a big group of about 15-16 people on a Friday night. Â The service was outstanding & the food didn't take long to get to us (especially considering the busy night & the size of our table). Â The food was delicious. Â I had the Tortelacci which was exquisite. Â :) Â I think everyone at our table was really pleased with their food. Â However, my boyfriend for the Herb-Roasted Chicken and said it was kind of bland & dry...however I think he actually liked it better leftover. Â Nice menu with some new foods I hadn't seen before. Â Good prices. Â Nice atmosphere inside also with some nice candles & good lighting, but not overly bright. Â 4.5 stars if I could.
Review Source:Stick with the simple pizzas. The pasta dishes always sound good, but you will be disappointed. The salads are usually fresh. The servers tend to be friendly and aim to please. It can get busy, so you might get neglected. Decent food for the Newburgh area. If you miss the one in Newburgh, don't worry there are Cosimo's in Middletown, Poughkeepsie and Central Valley. There's probably one opening in your town as I write this review.
Review Source:I was out of town on business and looking for a "decent" pizza for dinner. Wow, was I surprised! I had the margherita pizza with italian sausage and it was one of the best i have ever had. I am not sure if its the brick oven or just the crust recipe, but it was thin and delicious. If you are in the area, don't miss Cosimos'. I rate this one of the best overall pizzas i have ever had!
Review Source:This place appears small but seems to have a decent amount of seating space. Â They even have a small room for private parties which is a really nice addition if you opted for a party there.
Lighting is dim (somewhat romantic) though I thought some of the seating was relatively close to each other but it wasn't completely bothersome. Â Pricing is moderately priced but dishes are very plentiful so you get your monies worth. Pasta is cooked to perfection. Â Desert menu is even nice with several options priced at $5-7.
Overall it was a great experience and waiter service was top notch constantly checking up on our needs. This is a local fav.
This past Saturday evening, my husand and I joined two other couples for dinner. Â We had made reservations for 6 persons and our table was ready and waiting on time. Â We found the service to be pretty good. Â The restaurant was really busy. Â Generally, they do a good business and are usually packed on the weekend nights. Â
I've dined here before with my husband on two separate occasions for dinner, and then once I attended a private party at Cosimo's during a holiday celebration that was hosted by my husband's company. Â
I have always been satisfied with Cosimos on Union. Â NOT the one in Poughkeepsie- a VERY rude, young, snippy waitress attended (if that's what you call it) to our party of four last time in Poughkeepsie. Â I WON'T ever go there again!!
BUT, the one in Newburgh is managed much more efficiently and the staff tends to be more professional while dealing with the diners.
Most in our party either ordered soup (Italian Wedding or Pasta e. fagioli) or Ceasar salads for appetizers (got mine with anchovies- yum!!) but one of our friends ordered the fried calamari, which I sampled and found to be excellent! Â We all enjoyed our appetizers.
Dinners varied from various wood-fired pizzas, the Spicy Chicken Fusilli, The Chicken Stack and the Slow Roasted Pork. Â Everyone in our party, including myself, really enjoyed their main dish. Â My Broccoli (pizza) Pie was absolutely delicious, with the roasted garlic cloves on top...Mmmmm.
The ambiance is very nice - kind of high-end and the cocktails are really great, also. Â There are lots of great alcohol-based concoctions to be had by the very thirsty and adventureous!! Â Thumbs up for Cosimos on Union (but NOT the one in Poughkeepsie!)
The lunch special is a great value. You can choose a large sandwich and a soup or salad and unlimited bread and olive oil for around $12. The fried shrimp and baby spinach sandwich is delicious, but the eggplant parm sandwich is pretty greasy. The house salad has a delicious balsamic dressing. Unfortunately, they do not serve lunch on the weekends and are not willing to prepare the same sandwiches as weekend entrees.
The waitstaff seemed well-trained and semi-professional, although when I was there with my sister she couldn't get her water refilled until she literally started choking.
Wish to eat junk food in a fancy way? :) yep!!!!That's what Cosimos is all about.I have been here twice and the Brick Oven pizza looks so tempting when you stand near the entrance and see them making it.But wait for it..when served its just full of greasy cheese and nothing else.
We ordered the Margarita pizza and the Waffle fries(assuming this would be same as the amazing Pittsburgh-"Fuel and fuddle" fries).the fries were okie, but they were soaked in cheese ,and after a point i was high on cheese. And my stomach couldn't take more than two bites of the pizza, the look of the pizza disgusted me.All i ended up saying was wish we had gone to a diner instead of spending so much. But guess it's all about the ambiance and service and the great list of wines too.The food is good as that's what they are supposed to be serving. But if you really wish to eat greasy food you rather not spend this much :)

This very decent restaurant is part of a chain that has locations in Middletown and Poughkeepsie. I've reviewed the Middletown location and I have to say that the Newburgh location is not only much nicer but serves better food.
Cosimo's on Union is more of an adult/date night sort of restaurant than its sister location in Middletown, which is more of a families-with-kids joint. Cosimo's on Union is a casual place, but it exudes a nice ambiance and a grown-up feel. I've eaten at this restaurant several times and have always enjoyed myself. The staff is attentive, the service is prompt, and the menu is a solid selection of tasty, if not necessarily authentic, Italian favorites. I always order the sun-dried tomatoes ala vodka, and each and every time I've gotten this dish it has been well-prepared and flavorful. The one time I deviated from this selection was when I ordered the gnocchi. The gnocchi here was quite filling, although I prefer the sun-dried tomatoes ala vodka - the sauce is more interesting and adventurous.
If the weather is nice then I recommend sitting outside. The outdoor seating features an arbor strung with fake grapes that look realistic and surprisingly non-cheesy. You aren't overwhelmed by traffic noise from Route 300 either, and as twilight comes on the waiters bring around small votive candles to each table. It can get a bit buggy once the sun goes down, but all in all the outdoor dining option is nice.
I do recommend Cosimo's on Union. It's a nice casual restaurant where you can have a good meal with someone special, and that's always a good thing.
Outstanding Brick Oven Pizza!!!! Â My girlfriend and I went here on a cold Saturday night- wanted to have a low-key dinner, not crazy fancy, but in a place where we could catch up on the week past. Â We ordered a bottle of wine- prices are VERY reasonable!! Â Each had the Pasta Fagiole soup- which was DELICIOUS! Â We split a Ceasar Salad and shared a brick oven pizza! Â It was out of this world. Â The salad and pizza were so fresh using the freshest ingerdients! Â I would reccomend anyone passing through the Newbugh area in the mood for pizza to stop at Cosimos on Union! Â You will NOT be dissapointed! Â =)
