Great Sunday brunch items. Try the shearred eggs and bottomless mimosas.

Gave it a last shot. All we ordered was two flights of wine. Consumed, in and out. Two days later the amount charged to my card was $34 more than it should have been. Went to the place, bartender said I had to deal with the GM, he'll be back in 2 hours. Fine. Went back two hours later, No GM. Left receipt copy and my biz card, says he will call. Few hours later, no one calls. Call them after work, get GM. "I don't know anything about this but I'll look into it." No one calls me back. Next day I email GM. Finally get response will refund difference. Apparently a server "put someone else's tip amount on my CC"? Thanks for the warm email bud. Ridiculous. But the most ridiculous part is that nothing was done other than to refund the difference. No apology, no 'oh we'll go ahead and refund your total $22 bill, sorry for the bad experience', nothing. Industry 101 if there is a problem: Make it right and make me want to come back. Neither was done properly.  If I had purchased a bottle of Opus One and drove a Ferrari, they probably would have been groveling, but I'm just a peon I guess. Don't give them your money.

Tried to give it another chance.

They don't accept Discover cards; they don't get my business.

Nice place to drink wine and be classy and hip, if that's what you're into. I'm not.

I love the food here and the wine flights, but the service was not so good. The server didn't even bring us any bread until we asked for some (she could have offered), and she kept chatting at the bar with co workers when our drinks were empty. She hardly checked on us (only a minute after we started eating and to take our orders and when she passed by and saw we were done... That made us really thirsty and had to wait for when we were almost done with dinner to get to ask for bread). Meanwhile she was right in front of us chatting at the bar... (couldn't she see our empty glasses, we were so close to the bar!) the food was unique and paired with the wine so well. Love the originality and atmosphere of this place! Pricey.  Would love to come back during happy hour!

Not sure why this place has mediocre reviews, but I went here a week ago and enjoyed it very much.  I loved the cozy atmosphere.  Even though it is a wine bar, they offer a good variety of food!  I ordered the fillet Mignon and it was delicious.  I also had a Shiraz wine paired with it that was perfect!  The service was great, nice waitress, and quick.  My friends and I also shared the cheese fondue appetizer....beats the melting pot for sure!!!  I would say the cheese fondue is a must if you come here.

This place was pretty cool. We visited in the afternoon and took advantage of their happy hour. As you walk in, there is a real thick curtain hanging that you have to walk through. This must cut down on the amount of light and heat that get inside. This place is pretty chic inside and had a nice vibe to it.

We sat at the bar and I ordered one of their wine flights and we sampled a couple of their small bites. The wine flight was great. There were some interesting wines on there. My favorite was definitely the Muscato at the end. It was refreshing and slightly sweet. The staff was great at explaining how to taste the wines and in which order they should be tasted. They were really helpful in the experience.

The food was just okay. We tried the margherita pizza and also one other dish I cannot remember if that tells you anything. Food was definitely not the highlight of this place. The ambiance was great though and the varied selection of wines was good as well.

I would come back again and just stick to the wine drinking. You will be pleased with your selections and staff is very friendly and helpful. They will answer any questions you have about the wines. I am no wine connoisseur so I was just trying to enjoy myself. I had an unexpected good time here and will return in the future to sample some more wines.

What a wonderful place to hang out on a lazy afternoon with friends!  The atmosphere both inside and out is upscale yet unpretentious (ok ...except for the Ferraris they tend to park out front).  The wait staff was most accommodating on our most recent visit offering several "tastes" before we settled our wine order.  While we didn't order food, a lovely cheeseboard with all the complements was presented.  This is also a wonderful place for stopping in prior to or after dinner at Jasper's or any of the great restaurants at Market Street.

Where do I start?? One word--amazing. Bottomless mimosas on Sunday are what we get out of bed for..not to mention the salmon tartare which is just as delish. Favorite dish by far--pear Gorgonzola pizza or the breakfast pizza. Both are great and big enough to share. The wait staff is very knowledgeable about all of the wine as well. Hoping to make it out for Thursday's half price champagne soon! Yes it is a bit pricey but the chill vibe and great atmosphere at Market Street along with the great food make it well worth the splurge.

At Cru, pretentious, slow service and underachieving attempts at gourmet dining trump any value in their specials. The kitchen refused to accommodate a simple omission on my salad due to food allergies, something I've never experienced from a restaurant kitchen. Not couldn't omit- wouldn't omit- some b.s. about the integrity of the dish. I was instructed to order something else.  My entree was undercooked and greasy; the waiter acted like I was a heathen for sending it back.  Get over yourselves, Cru. Not a fan.

I have always enjoyed my trips to Cru.  I like wine and I like to try different wines, so the wine flights are just what I need.  So nice.  I do wish there were more wine by the glass choices, but that's because I'm the only one of my group that likes red wine and if I drink a bottle by myself, I'm sick sick sick.

The food is always good and we enjoy ordering several things to share amongst us.  We generally go with a group and tell the server in advance that we are splitting things so that they can keep track of who got what.  It makes things easy at cash out time.

The ambiance here is really nice and relaxing.  Overall, this is one of my favorite places in The W.

This place spoke to the wino inside of me on my most recent work trip to the Woodlands last week. First off, the wine flights are a fantastic idea. They bring out 3 glasses 2 ounces each of three different types of wine with the same grape. I loved that it gave me variety and the selections were vast. Plus, they bring them out in this super cool wire holder which just made me feel special.

The group shared a bunch of things that were all pretty tasty. Some highlights for me were the cheeses, tuna tar tar and the pear and Gorgonzola pizza. The food was yum, the atmosphere was fun and the wine was great. Not to mention our waitress handled our large and rowdy group like a pro.

I'd definitely go back if I was ever in the Woodlands again!

We have the best time when we goto Cru. Don't miss the food. It's delicious. Try the cheese fondue, goat cheese beignets, and chocolate fondue. You can't go wrong!

Early new year dinner-fair priced champaign but amazing sea bass with the deadly crunchy bread sticks. Of course, we were the first people in the Cru at 6PM and it took several hours for other patrons to arrive.
My sea bass served with a light cream sauce was superb high quality, the mussels are quite impressive and those crunchy breadsticks are made to be dipped in the mussell sauce which of course, has lots of butter!
Sure, its another Chain, but the flights are always fun, and good service., This is also a good place to have a group of friends for wine tasting and sharing.
We have been to the Denver location many times, a favorite and the Woodlands location was just as much fun.

A solid 3.5 star experience, rounded up to a 4 because I'm feeling generous.

came here on Sunday for a chill brunch. not wanting to leave the woodlands, we opted for Cru due to the patio, location and mimosas. sure, we didn't want to rage but we also didn't want to be surrounded by kids. this was the happy medium.

our meal started with mimosas, per usual, and our service was present but not annoying. we asked to move the table out of the sun and she was more than cool about it. i opted for the sirred eggs which came with a small side of asparagus and cherry tomatoes. i was a little taken back by how small (and almost bland) it was. now, i hate huge portions but this was a little TOO small... especially for $13. my mom ordered the omelet (which was a nice portion) and she loved it. the gf got stuffed french toast which made me drool at the site of it. so maybe i got the short end of the stick, ill give them a pass this go-around.

we finished our meal with dessert and solo french pressed coffee, which was a nice touch.

reading the reviews, everyone seems to bash on the service. this is my second time here (first was for dinner) and it was consistency decent. not terrible, but I've had better. i would've liked to have heard some light lounge music or something, i was kind of over listening to other tables conversations and the valet guys weekend plans over my tables conversation. some light music would have balanced it out.

Cru, you're a good place to hang out. I'm convinced that next time I'm going to come for dessert and mimosas and skip the meal =)

I recently moved to the Woodlands from Houston and am always looking for new places to try for brunch without travelling back into town.  It was suggested that I try this place for Brunch.  I have only had wine and a cheese plate in the past and had no complaints.  I called and was told they open at 11 am on Sundays.  My friend and I arrived at 11:04 and sat down.  There was no on else in the restaurant.  We sat outside because it was nice.  A waiter was walking all aroung us setting up patio but did not acknowledge us at all.  At  11:10 I asked him what time they opened to which he replied 11 am.  Still no greeting.  At 11:15, he FINALLY asked if we knew what we wanted without even asking for a drink order.  I have not been in the service industry for a long time but spend a long time in it.  I NEVER EVER EVER worked anywhere that would allow a guest longer than 45 seconds to be greeted.  The omelet he suggested was great and my friend liked her steak and eggs.  Service was okay after that but they did drop check without asking if we wanted dessert or anything else.  I will go back because of the lack of choices but wanted people to be warned of the slow initial service.

If the owner does read these reviews, its not just the guests blowing smoke.... your servers are a little rude, some are a lot rude.  I spent $120 on my wife and myself last night.  We were not greeted at the door, we were not seated.  No one approached us after we were seated.  Our server was a friendly lady, but watching the others... they were not.  And for the place being about 70% full it was very slow service.

The server did not appear to have too much knowledge on $25/glass of wine... if your going to sell a premium product, know what it is...

Now that, that's out of the way.  Cru is a beautiful place, set in a great market place.  The ambiance is something out of a Hollywood movie.  The food & cheeses were great.  I had the 5 cheese pizza, arguably the best wood-fired pizza I have ever had.  The food quality was phenomenal, mouth is watering just thinking about it.... and truly the reason why this is as high as 4 stars, or you bet it would be 2 or 3 as the others.

I own 4 restaurants & 3 grocery stores.... customer service is the name of the game, if you have that down & great food, etc., you will do a lot better here.

My boyfriend and I had a date night and came across this charming little place. The wine was wonderful with affordable options and although we didn't try the food, it sure looked good. The waiter, Andrew, was friendly and knowledgeable and when I signed up for email notifications they individually emailed me special offers. I was really impressed, not only with the wine and the ambiance, but with the wonderful customer service. We'll definitely be back!

Service can be a little snooty, but most of The Woodlands is like that, so after awhile, you get used to it. I'm a definite fan of the atmosphere, but the food is only so-so. But most people don't go here for the food, we go here for the drinks.

Went here 2 other friends on a Thursday around 8p. We had an amazing time. They had a decent selection of preselected flights.  The food selection was good and tasted amazing.

If anything, I felt like our server was trying to sell us more, more, more, but in work in foodservice so I understand how the business is run.  No points deducted for trying to make a little more money.  The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was it was a LITTLE pricey. There arent many "budget" selections.  But i had a flight, tuna tartar, and another class for 50 bucks after a generous tip so I don't feel like I didn't get my money worth.  Especially given the service, area, and quality of the food and wine.

I can't wait to go back!

Love this place. Happy Hour is a super excellent sexy time to enjoy the huge sexy rooftop patio with super sexy and super nice bartenders. There are plenty of sexy couches, tables, and ottomans to relax on while you enjoy your super sexy adult beverage of choice. The margarita pizza is also an excellent and sexy choice to nosh on while you imbibe that super sexy adult bevie. The Woodlands grows on me more and more, especially after finding this sexy happy hour spot.

Cru gets 2 stars purely for atmosphere and a nice creme brulee. The wine selection was not impressive and the service was, in turns, rude and inept.

I arrived at Cru with a good size party of charming, well-dressed and well-behaved adults at 10PM on a Saturday night, after an amazing meal at Jasper's. The server asked how many people were in our party and we estimated between 10 and 12. He snapped back, "well which is it? 10 or 12?" I noticed his bile but set it in the back of my mind and was pleased when a couple of female servers took on our table instead of Mr. Attitude. There were only 2 other tables and the weather was nice so we sat on the terrace, which was very pleasant.

Our waitress reminded my date and I of Marla from Fight Club (your choice whether that's a plus or a minus). He and I split a glass of the mid-priced Pinot Noir and were disappointed by an underdeveloped wine, too high in alcohol and with a very short window of drinkability after breathing enough to release the aromatics before it fell flat. I was underwhelmed to say the least by the server's wine knowledge. With so few wines by the glass this is not a good sign. It's a wine bar, and thus the server's job is to know what's good and what's not and to facilitate the guest's experience. They're struggling.

Since we all had a wedding to be in in the morning, we asked for the check after a single round of drinks. It took nearly 45 minutes from asking for the check for the server to cash us out- and we were at that point the only table in the place. Our bill was not split, so we took the time to write down what each party had and how each would be paying in order to speed our exit and go easy on the staff. Instead of simply calculating the appropriate amount of tax on each order and ringing us up, she came back, confused, and said we still owed money. We had been waiting almost half an hour for our cards back and were all very ready to leave so someone just handed her a fistful of cash to cover the tax, since she couldn't figure it out. She was nice enough but unfortunately sorely incompetent. The service, I'm afraid, gets a big fat F.

Cru was the sour note in an otherwise exceptionally lovely weekend in The Woodlands. Steer clear.

I've enjoyed going to Cru with friends several times. The atmosphere is nice and I like their cheeses. For a wine bar, however, their wine selections are a little uninspired. Most are decent but nothing special. Also, I've been there a few times and been given the wrong win, which kind of defeats the purpose.

Sad to say but i would have rated this place 4 stars if it were not for my last visit there.
I loved this place for its vast selection of great wine, food and a patio with a view of Market street. I enjoyed having the Cru steak pizza which is really a great combination of arugula with a balsamic reduction and topped off with steak.

The last visit was with two of my best friends and we stopped by after brunch and just wanted some dessert and I told them to come here since I love this place. We had ordered the chocolate fondue which was plenty for only 3 girls. I decided to have a dessert wine to pair with the dessert and the waiter was really rude. He did not want to serve us. It took him about 10 minutes to even come to us when we first sat down ( we were the only ones waiting and only 2 other tables filled). He came to us and just asked us what we wanted, took the order and walked off. When I got his attention to ask about the dessert wine, there were 4 choices. The one I wanted was out and they only had two. The very highest at i believe 18 a glass and a medium at $12 a glass. So when he asked me which I wanted I said I will have the name which I can not remember but it was the $12 glass. He flat out said, " You want the cheapest one?" And when he served it to me he said, "here is the cheapest one you wanted." He should have just said the name of the wine.

That really bothered me and I have not been back since. I have been wanting to go back but with service like that its hard for me to step foot again.

Other than that, the food and wine are great. The waiter was something I did not appreciate.

    Poo on you, Cru.

BAD SERVICE. The waiter wasn't friendly and wasn't helpful with wine recommendations. I didn't even want to order anything after his not so warm welcoming. I saw other staff members there I'd rather talk to but they were busy talking amongst each other to notice the only two tables in the place who needed attention.  Bah, I'd rather spend my money elsewhere with a staff that's not rude and snobby.

I have walked by this restaurant many times at Market Street in The Woodlands. Out of the blue, my family and I decided to go to celebrate a birthday. The exterior has a nice covered patio that is usually full at night. Being summertime in Texas, there was no one eating outside today.

As I walked through the velvet curtain at the entrance, I was surprised at the small size of the interior and amazed at the floor-to-ceiling wall of wine. One of the wall adjacent to the wine wall had enlarged wine labels as decorations and the other held a large mirror over the bar.

We sat near the entrance by the window, but we could have sat anywhere. By the absence of people and the waitress' AM/PM confusion, it was clear that most of their business was made late at night. This was no matter to us, of course.

We all had the eggs benedict aside from my sister who had the omelet. The speed of service was average, but the presentation was very nice. The quality of the food was excellent, too. I was fortunate to have sampled two of the dishes and both were fantastic.

The waitress was very attentive and always kept my glass full. This is usually impossible for most since I tend to drink a lot during my meals. The women in my family opted for the $9 bottomless mimosas and said they were very tasty.

The rest of the menu has flights of cheese and small sampler items that can be enjoyed with a nice bottle of wine or two. There are some other higher priced dinner meals that sounded excellent. This will give me something more to try on my next visit.

Alcoholic friends and family would appreciate a visit here, especially if you want to loosen someone's tongue!

Delicious...great variety and a nice outdoor patio.  I tried the Chef's cheese platter, Sauv Blanc flight, and the pear and gorgonzola pizza.  It was all very tasty.  Great ambiance...as it's part of Market Street...more like a square of restaurants and shops.  Unique, local restaurants in this area - love it!

The server recommended the "Napa bento box" --  a deal at around $10-$12 for beef, chicken, or another protein, fruit salad, tomato soup, and green beans.  Large selection of wine flights built around different themes.  Felt like the kind of place that ladies who lunch would frequent (or our in case, the bridal party the day before a wedding!)  Sat outside and enjoyed the lush, manicured and wholly planned community of The Woodlands.

If you haven't sat on the patio and enjoyed Cru's excellent brunch, run - don't walk.  I met some friends there at 11:30 am and we enjoyed a 2 hour brunch on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.  The patio is perfect for people watching and the bottomless mimosas ($9!) are a great deal.

The Executive Chef greeted us after we ordered drinks and encouraged us to try the Brunch specials - goat-cheese beignets and the crab eggs benedict.  We ordered the goat-cheese beignets and American cheese flight for appetizers.  The cheese flight included a creamy camembert, soft goat cheese chevre and aged cheddar, with sliced pears & apples, grapes and almonds.  The cheddar had a wonderful tangy flavor and the chevre was soft & spreadable, with a mild taste.

The goat-cheese beignets were fantastic - light flaky beignet batter stuffed with creamy goat cheese, topped with sliced strawberries, pecans and drizzled with honey.  The flavors blended perfectly, not too sweet or too cheesy.  We followed the beignets with a crab omelet that was an ideal blend of lump crab, cheese and sliced asparagus.  The crab flavor wasn't overpowering and balanced nicely with the cheese and asparagus.

The service throughout was impeccable - with both waiters stopping by often to make sure our bottomless mimosas never saw the bottom and the Executive Chef checking in to see how we liked the beignets.  This was my first brunch at Cru, but after the excellent food and superb service, it won't be my last.

Love this place. We usually sit at the bar and order one of their themed tastings and then just order a glass of the favorite from the tasters.

We have also sat at a table, ordered a bottle of wine and ate from their appetizer list. Always Great! Knowledgeable staff!

I came here for dinner a couple of days ago.  It was pretty good.  I had a steak.  It was okay.  Potstickers were a good app.  The desserts are *really* good - esp the chocolate fondue!

I haven't tried the wine here.  I had a flight of whites a couple of years ago in the Austin location and it was good, but don't remember what it was...

I go down to meet with friends in The Woodlands often and I try to find time to also stop here for a drink or three. Great thing about this place is it's quiet and during the day there is not many people inside. I can't comment on the wine much, I usually order the Tawny port.

We have only eaten the cheese fondue so I can't really say much about there food. Anyways, great place and great atmosphere..
