Woah, there are some GOOD dancers all up in here. Â I'm a dancehall chick and can't do these moves at all, but I'm still thinking of coming back. Â Where is the DJ for the downstairs non-Noize room? Â Am I blind? Â I couldn't see where that stuff was being issued from :) Â Things were still pretty energetic by 3...
Review Source:Old school original 1980s+ Goth here. Â Went to Das Bunker last night to check it out. Â My conclusions:
Large and spacious. Â Staff attitude friendly and welcoming. Â Guests attitudes: elitist, arrogant, not friendly or welcoming. Â Music too trendy, not Scene enough, and very... shall we say... "Youthful"... but the sound system was best in the city. Â Seriously.
Parking questionable (there's a huge parking area behind the building but they cone it off so patrons cannot park there). Â So you have to park many blocks away and do the Goth Walk of Shame to and from the venue. Â Le sigh. Â But, good exercise. Â And some do it in boots, which is insane, but... I can't criticize it, since I did that too.
Potential for Das Bunker: with slight changes, superb.
Present-day limitations: Noisy. Â Needs age limit. Â Too many Flayrah rave girls bowling for attention, and way too much Hot Topic goin' down. Â But hey: "If kids today wanna think a black surgical mask is truly Goth because Malice Mizer and other Visual Kei bands wore one in a music video, who am I to correct em, hmm?" Â
Skipping Das Bunker tonight (in fact it is Friday as I am editing this review to make it shorter; the first was TLDR) to instead hit up some sushi deep in suburbia and unspool my Disgusting Compleat Gothyness there, in front of the normals of Conservative America, which is far more fun, and I am GUARANTEED to find more true Goths by doing so, because they'll be out doing the same... which for this scene has always been the case :)
Not old and grumpy, but yeah, old and grumpy.
I don't go to a Gothic club spending money to feel like I'm watching a nursery at recess. Â What I saw was No Class. Â Goth can be better than this. Â And if you don't think so, see a few clubs in London and Berlin before talkin' at me.
You'll agree.
Final Answer: if you're 18-21 and think black clothes are so alternative and you need a place to show off, man is this ever the place for you. Â Do not hesitate to come here. Â Strip to naked. Â Dance your ass off. Â Take lots of selfies. Â Post them on Facebook. Â Don't forget rave glowsticks. Â Done.
If you're over 35 and know what Goth really is... avoid.
Hit Ventura Boulevard in your big black boots and scare the locals. Â LOTS MORE FUN GUARANTEED :D
