Del Rio Mexican Grill

sittin in Texas Coral having a monday 50c draft.....who do i spy?  why its Lou, from Casa Del Rio fame....

Me: hey Lou, when is your new place opening?
Lou: mi chica ( lou is mexican, he talks funni )  we have already
Me: donde? ( as well as yu can sign mexican )
Lou: the old el pasano spot

lou continured to tell me that while waiting for the contractors to finish up the spot he was and is still opening in Schererville, the el pasano place had closed....Lou, ever so quick on his feet, jumped at the lease... voila !  Del Rio mexican Grill is now open in Munster....

not missing a chance to fill my mexican jones...we headed over the very next day ....basically a store front taco stand in a little strip mall.....mostly carry out but 4 small tables if you want to eat in and we did......

special lunch menu brought us a taco plate with 2 tacos ( pork, beef or chicken ) rice and beans for $5.00  WIN!!
2 pork tamales with beans and rice as well, again just 5 bux at lunch..

we split it all......chicken taco for me, cilantro and onion, flour tortilla....the  filling was very tender and a great flavor, salsa verde topped it off perfect.....the tamales were really good as well, topped with a chile de arbol sauce at Lou's recomendation....perfect heat and flavor...
my friend liked her pork taco as well, saying the chunks of pork were really tender and full of flavor...
rice--meh
beans were good but i love my beans...

after we ordered..

Me: Lou, donde es cervaza?
Lou: no es license de liquor  ( or something like that ) but, Munster liquor next door, go get what you want i will keep it cold in one of our coolers

so a 6pack of a hops and malt beverage and were good to go..
menu about the same as the old place with a few changes.....but the flavor?  muy bien.....gracias Lou.......thanks for comming back....

oh so you know....open for lunch 11-2  then 4-8:30 for dinner....cant wait for the schererville place to open as now im closer to there...and please remember, support your locally owned places whenever you can
