Just left after eating a late lunch.  I had a platter which consisted of 3 meats and 2 sides. All 3 meats were dry and lacked smoke or flavor. I got a little flavor from the large fat cap piece off my brisket. Try sides other than the beans and slaw. Ice cream is free but not worth having.

Food is ok. I had the pulled pork and its nothing special. Decent BBQ sauce. I had the green beans with bacon and Mac and cheese too. The green beans were terrible ZERO bacon flavor but the pieces were there. The Mac and cheese was pretty tasty and quite filling. Portions were fairly generous but the price is a bit high for lunch. The decor inside was pleasant, kinda what I imagine what a southern BBQ Joint would look like inside.

Pit is an appropriate tag for Dickey's Barbecue in Schererville. This place has indeed become a pit.

We have been eating here off and on since the first week this place was open. Usually, we order and take it home to eat. Tonight, we dined in.

Our family of three used a 50% off Entertainment book coupon for our dinner tonight and still paid over $25 for two sandwiches with three sides and a three meat Manager's special plate with two sides and three drinks. For the portion sizes and food quality, $25 was pushing it. I cannot imagine spending $50 for three people in this place, which is what we would have spent without the coupon. For $50, we should have table service and good food, neither of which you'll get here.

Other complaints: the smell of soiled diaper by the utensil/salt/pepper stand; gritty soft serve ice cream, with an unpleasant chemical aftertaste; dirty restrooms.

We always notice that since La Carreta opened across the parking lot, no one is at Dickey's -- they even park in front of Dickey's and walk 100 yards to La Carreta. Guess it is time for us to give up on Dickey's and try La Carreta, which is a shame, because the idea of Dickey's -- Texas-style BBQ -- is a good one, just horribly executed at this location.

P.S. -- Yelp's listing says beer and wine are available -- they once were -- but not any more. You can get tea, coffee, or soda now, that's all.
