Came here on the VIP list and stayed for DJ Billy Lane, who tore the place up! Drinks were about the price you would expect to pay in a club like this. The place started off as a ghost town, but quickly filled up. The bar area always had space available for hanging but the floor area is off the hook. Overall I had a very enjoyable time.
Review Source:Not too bad!
I have only been here once, came here on a Saturday, but I had a good time.
There is one major bar, several VIP tables that didn't feel bombarded with people, it is actually nice for a change The vibe here is nice, just people looking to have a good time.
The drink prices aren't too expensive compared to most places.
The DJ was fun, the music was okay, I think he played some good ones and not so good ones. The dance floor was more of an opened concept, not restricting.
Girls got in free, guys have to pay$15.
Overall, the place was fun just to dance the night away with friends.
I really like this place and I don't know why!? Â It's pretty darn small, there's no place to sit, and the drinks are pretty pricey. Â It must be the bartenders who have been really nice, which goes a long way. Â Also the sound system here is legit. Â Since the place is small, the dance floor is small, but that sound system gets the place bumping. Â I think this place is great for a small group of friends. Â If you guys just want to dance together come early and own the floor for yourselves! Â Another thing that keeps me coming back is probably the clientele. Â Everyone seems nice, no drama, and not ghetto! Â I'll be back.
Review Source:One day I went into Dive Bar and thought, "God, this place is f***in' terrible." Then I went into District 30 another day and thought, "No wait, now this place is f***in terrible." Together, they the make up most awful area in Sacramento, and I am not without evidence. District 30 doesn't know if it wants to be a club or a bar. Because of this, you get the most random crowd ever assembled: douchie club guys, people dressed like shit, broke people who couldn't afford to pay cover at The Park and people who didn't really wanna go out, so they came here. There's no real dress code, they just want people to come in and drink, which gives the place a very "blaaaaah" atmosphere. The crowd doesn't know if they want to dance or pay another $10 for a watered down drink. Everybody looks like they are just waiting to go home. The music is crap and the dance floor is just awkward. It's not even like a designated dance floor. Imagine trying to grind on a girl in Pizza Rock. In summary, this place is wack, don't bother.
Review Source:A Very Polished & Stylish Club Venue
SITREP
I am a fan of District 30 and the event "The Hollow" which has taken place at this venue both on Sundays and Thursday Nights.
SETUP
I first came to appreciate this venue because of the wonderful Industrial-EBM DJ-Dance Event "The Hollow". Â It started out on it's Grand Opening night as a Sunday Night club. Â
CONFLICTS AVERTED FOR SUNDAY NIGHTS
But as a preference manifested itself to change the nights and also DJ schedules switched it up, "The Hollow" has become a fixture for Thursday Nights now and that makes me happy, since I did not like it when it ran up against and conflicted with the Sunday Night Gothic-Industrial-EBM night of "Factor IX" @ Midtown Barfly.
Peace reigns once again in the music-galaxy (at least for Sundays).
KUDOS TO PROMOTERS
A big shoutout to Jeremiah, Roxie and Nemmy for bringing a FANTASTIC Gothic-Industrial-EBM Dance event once again to Thursday nights in Sacramento.
I have missed the old Biomech days when that event was at the old Cattle Club (where Bislas is now on Folsom Blvd). Â Thursday nights were a great way to get into the an early weekend, especially if you did not care being a ZOMBIE at work on Friday morning.
AWESOME DJs
The Thursday night event features DJ Bryan Hawk, who also does Factor IX @ Midtown Barfly on Sunday Nights, and also DJ Davidara, the extremely talented drummer most recently of the Industrial band Savi0r.
But I would be remiss if I didn't also give a shoutout to DJs Megz and Dark Star for their Sunday Night run with the club, two outstanding female DJs.
THURSDAY DJ LINEUPS
Now Thursdays see DJ Davidara as the resident "go-to" DJ and most recently DJ Sir Ritch was partnered up with him. Â It makes for a fun night.
GO GO DANCERS!
I love the go-go dancing! Â There is a wonderful team of GoGo Dancers lead by Serenity, and she has cultivated a wonderful group of individuals, and I must emphasis, both women & men. Â One of the most recent events was a celebration of the Green Faerie and I had a blast taking pictures for this event.
On opening night, it was the Queen of Hearts Ball and the centerpiece of that was a dynamic costume competition.
I have pictures on this site of both events. Â Enjoy!
THE LOWDOWN
District 30 is very stylish venue for any kind of musical fun.
[The survey at the bottom of the review asks for "Best Nights". Â For me, that is Sunday and Thursday nights. Â For you, the more mainstream patron, I'm pretty sure that's going to be Friday and Saturday, just sayin.]
Oddly snooty.
D30 was on my list of 30 to try in midtown, and while I went with all blank-slate and wide-eyed willingness to embrace whatever met me, I did not expect the chill.
Long story short: not the friendliest people. $15 cover for ladies? Arbitrary letting in of some people free vs. charging others. I don't get it. Been 'round the world to many choice places more in demand than Sacramento and have never been met with such uppity attitude at the door.
Once in: it was decent. A fun night. Typical music. Nothing on the drink menu to twist up your panties.
Conclusion: Worth checking out once but kind of just want my money back now.
Went to District 30 for the first time this last Sunday for their new goth night. I couldn't help but wonder how well a goth night in a trendy K Street bar would work, but whatever, I wanted to check out the venue anyway.
District 30 is a long narrow venue with a bar in the middle and dancing space in the back... basically, the same floor plan as Dive Bar but flipped vertically. A few of the features I liked:
*the booth seating near the bar
*the aesthetics of the bar itself, particularly the back-lit wall
*the well-made and reasonably priced drinks
*the little dance floor with the low risers for elevated dancing
*the lighting and sound system
Onto top of District 30's features, the door staff and bartendress were very nice. Shout out to DJ Keyz, she had a great playlist that night.
Unfortunately, given the current cost of District 30 admission ($10 at the door and $5+ for garage parking) we probably won't come back too often... but overall the venue is very nice and my group had a great time.
Had so much fun at this place!! Saturday night had a large crowd and the music and dancing was great! The security guard Kareem hooked it up with a portable fan and hair ties for the ladies who couldn't take the heat!! I wish there was not a cover charge for girls ($15 after 11 pm), but all in all it was a great first experience!! I will definitely go back.
Review Source:First time here on a Saturday night, and it was a good experience. They do have a guest list and if you get in before 11 its free for the ladies and $10 for the men. I got there a few minutes before the guest list closed and there was no line, and went in without any fuss.
They do have a coat check, $3 for a single coat check. The dance floor isn't too big and gets crowded fast but aside the crowded dance floor the place itself wasn't too crowded, maybe the cold weather has a lot to do with it. I didn't purchase any drinks but my friends were able to get their drinks quickly. I really liked the DJ, he was playing a good variety of songs. Would definitely go back.
Ok so normally I only Yelp food. Â But after attending their first attempt at "2nd Sundays," I had to write about it. Â I've always been a fan of D30 because they are the only club in Sac open til 3 am. Wootwoot! Â I always liked hopping here after my rounds at the usual spots, even though the space is just one long narrow hall.
Sound System: Â oh yes. Love that special spot in front of the speakers where the bass is so strong it'll make any fat girl's rolls dance
Weekend Crowd: Â Typical clubbing patrons. You've got the sexy hoochies, not-sexy-but-think-they-are-sexy hoochies, douchey dudes, ninja booty grinders, sloppy drunks, drunks in la la land, wall flowers.. you know, the normal crowd. Hahah
"2nd Sundays" Crowd: Â TOTAL good move on their part btw. Â No dress code. Â Sunday is more relaxed and geared towards those who actually want to chill, drink, and DANCE! You won't see la la land drunks. Oh wait.. but I'm there. Scratch that! Just a good time in general
Music: Â Tends to be a mix of hip hop and house in the earlier hours and more electronic in the latter wee hours. Â There have been some great guest DJs here. Â LOVE that the Djs actually have some talent and don't mix the typical crap like at other clubs (no names, but we all know which clubs)
Always good times here. Â Get some Grey Goose, get loose, and let your tailfeather fly.. maybe flap your chicken wings too while you're at it. Â No one will care here =)
I never go to Clubs. Ever. So this review may not be for some of you.
The yelp reviews are pretty accurate. The Audio system is CRAZY Awesome.. Didn't know it was possible to hear music like that. The Later night DJ's are better than early night.
It's a small place, but fun once it gets crowded. Some of the chosen music is just lame, Way overly sexual lyrics.. Anything from Ronald Jenkees from Youtube would be better..lol
If you wanna sit down, it's VIP only. if you walk around with your coat on, someone will tap you on the shoulder and ask you to check it in for a few bucks.
I think the weirdest part was getting blasted with Fog/firextinquishers from the ceiling, being able to see nothing for a few minutes, then suddenly see 2-3 couples dry humping the crap out of each other. 0.o
Overall, great place though. Again...dat Audio System.. wow.
I have been to this place quite a few times and have enjoyed myself every time. They have a really nice bartender there too.
HOWEVER
This last Wednesday 12/12/12 we RSVP'd to an event there and drove over an hour to get there and waited over an hour to get in (in heels in 38* weather) and when we finally got to the front, the bouncer, Ruben I think his name was, denied one of the girls getting in. When she asked why, he said, "you know why". Well come to find out, "Ruben" had been texting her 2 weeks before trying to get into her pants and she didn't reply because he has a GF, so now he was on a power trip. He said the rest of us could go but not her, as if we were going to leave her outside. I called the manager and told him what happened and he said he was going to have to uphold Ruben's decision, even though she had the text messages to prove her story.
This is how they treat loyal customers who have spent thousands of dollars there? AS A BUSINESS OWNER, I have never let my personal feelings towards someone dictate my professional relationship with them. This was absurd and the fact that they didn't even take into consideration the trouble we took to get there, was worse. I will NEVER again in my life give any business to this place and if the owner has any common sense, s/he will strongly consider the type of people he puts in charge.
Also, since everyone there that night had RSVP'd technically everyone was "on the list". The line was due to what Ruben says was "we are at max capacity, so it's one out, one in". Yet no one came out and quite a few hoochies were allowed in after rubbing up on him, a group of about 6. Nevermind the people that waited in line for seriously over an hour.
On a bright note, the gentleman outside of Dive Bar 2 doors down was a pleasure and has earned new customers for his kind and professional service.
First things first, great music!!
I've been really disappointed in the music played at clubs lately, but not at District 30. Even though the dance floor is pretty small and often crowded, I don't mind at all when I'm able to dance for hours because every song is good. When I've gone, they play a lot of old school hip hop mixed in with newer dance music. The mixes are perfect to dance to. For some reason I always have a good time there.
The drinks are decent. They definitely taste better than a few surrounding places, but are still pricey (as they always are at a club) for what you get.
Also, you can usually get on a guest list so don't have to pay to get in. And the line isn't too long.
IN MY OPINION: Clubs in the Sacramento Area aren't all that great. But if I were to choose one club in sac to go to it would be District 30!
The lines don't take long to get there and there is a light dress code. Light means black shoes and a decent shirt. Can't come in with a tank top and shorts.
The service is fairly quick and drink prices are standard.
I do not like the set up of the club because it's long and narrow. That means the sound of the music gets carries the music in a funky way. The only reason why I choose this place is because they bring A+ Talent. From Steve Aoki to Cosmic Gate and R3hab, they know how to bring good DJs to Sac. Makes sense though because they are the sister club to Ruby Skye
So I give this place 3 stars: Two for talent, one for good service but no stars for location and sound quality.
I love the floor! Â Yeah, I said it. Â I love the floor! Â
There's just something about that floor that makes the bass vibrate up your legs and make you feel like the room is shaking from under. Â And no, I was only a little buzzed when I felt this because I am always DD when I go clubbing/bar hopping...Can't get too drunk. Â The music is pretty mainstream and I love that! Â I mean, what other music can move you better than the songs that you know? Â They even played Gangnam Style! Â
This small place wasn't too crowded on a Saturday night. Â They were not strict about people sitting at the couches with tables. Â I hate it when clubs/lounges restrict you from sitting on the couches without VIP reservations and bottle service. Â They're pretty flexible here and the bouncer (tall, African-American guy) is way chill! Â We had fun with him and he let us use his body fan. Â Its pretty hot in there. Â I mean real hot like no AC hot. Â Only once in awhile do we get a fog of cold mist. Â The crowd mainly consisted of college students and more mature folks. Â Atmosphere-wise, its just clean, contemporary like any other club. Â Â
The only serious problem we had was at the line. Â The bouncer in charge of guest list said that we had to pay a cover fee, but everyone in our party of 10 plus other girls in line told him about the ad on their website for Ladies' Night on Saturday, September 15th (girls get in free before midnight). Â The bouncer claimed he didn't know what we were talking about. Â I told him I can pull it up on my phone if he wants proof, so he pretended to ask permission from inside and let us in for free. Â Hmm, they better let us in, because it wasn't even hoppin much anyways at 10:30 p.m. Â Geez, the length this place goes through to try to trick us into paying cover fee. Â I was close to leading my posse of 15+ girls to Social. Â That dude was messing with the wrong girls. Â We do our research before we even stepped into our cars. Â I hardly ever pay for club entry, even in Vegas, so I'm not planning on paying anywhere in Sac. Â Well, except when I saw LMFAO at The Park.
Dresscode.
No dresscode.
Make sure you clue in the door guy next time. I waited 20 mins to be let in when there was no dresscode apparently, obviously cause i got in.
Ended up having to leave before even having a drink. It was almost my only chance to see a friend from the other side of the planet who was visiting. thanks for making sure I had enough time to enjoy your venue. It will be the last time I stand in front of this old folks home.
Thanks for nothing.
Alright, so I got tricked into coming here for the Annual White Party. Yes, I fell for the awesome advertisement on their website with the amazing electronica music on there as well. Yes, I got suckered in by will.i.am's This is Love. Â Unfortunately, that was not even close to what they played that night =(
However, I will agree that this place looks pretty nice with the white everywhere and awesome lights. It does feel a little Vegas (in Sac), but much smaller. This place is super dinky, and you can barely get in front of the bar or get through the crowd on the dance floor.
So why the 4 stars? This is probably one of the nicer places I've been to in Sac. And no, their clientele isn't as ghetto as what they have over there at Splash or Social. =X Oops.... I just said that didn't I?
I'd come back for sure. Hopefully on a less busy day. And hopefully they play better music too!
I've only been here once, and it's been a while. I'm not the biggest club/dance venue freak, but I enjoy it occasionally.
By the way, this was my first ever club experience at the time.
Out of the few clubs I've been to in Sacramento, this is probably one of the better ones. Drinks aren't as expensive as some other places. It's also nice that it's right next to Dive Bar and Social. Palares isn't too far away either. It makes bar/club hopping easier for you girlies in your sky-high heels.
Parking is literally right around the corner. It's a $5 flat rate for the night, which isn't that bad if you go with a group and DD.
I really enjoyed the music here. It had a good flow, and the songs were popular enough that I was able to recognize it and sing along. But the songs weren't so mainstream that I hated it.
The dance floor was a good size. Not too big like an awkward prom, but not too small like a ghetto house party. And you don't need to dress too fancy to get in, but it sure won't hurt.
I wouldn't mind coming here again. :)
I've had always had pleasent experiances at D30! The music is always great and the place seems to be packed all the time.
The employees who work here are very nice, It was one night I was here on halloween and I was in a full on Pirate costume having a blast and it was pretty hot inside and doing the cat daddy made me break into a sweat! The bouncer was kind enough to offer me a napkin LOL! The female bartenders are awsome. The restrooms are very clean and nice as well... BROWNIE POINTS!
I love coming to this particular place to dance and drink is because of the Location! This place is next to Dive bar and Pizza Rock, Who doesn't love pizza once they cut off your drinks at the club! ME!!!
Cons are that the Venue is a bit small and the bar is in the very front... So passing through to the Dance floor requires some shoving and bitch get out of the way.
Honestly I've been over my clubbing stage for a few years now, so that last time I went out to a club was...well let's just say The Park was still new, hot, and there was no such thing as Cafeteria 15L. Soooo going out to District 30 for a bachelorette party was a little out of my element.
We got a Groupon for a booth, which is why we chose this place. I will say it was good service. We didn't have to wait in line, we just went right up to the bouncer. They had our names and introduced us to our hostess for the night. She led us to our booth and let us know she would help us with anything we needed, and she did! She was great and so were the bussers, we ALWAYS had water and they never let our carafes of mixers get empty.
As for the ambiance and the set up, which why I would come to a club in the first place, was just OK. When I told some of my friends we were coming here they sighed and said, "You're going to douchebag 30???" and I can now agree with that statement. The crowd was douchebaggy! The DJ sucked, which I understand was just an isolated incident, and the DJs friends kept coming to our booth and bugging us to get on the dance floor. Look, if I don't want to dance and I paid $$$ to sit my ass in a booth then I will, leave us alone.
Will I come back if I feel like reliving a night of my youth? Probably not.
Listen up my fellow Anthropologist: If you've ever wanted to see how [some] modern men survey and attack their prey to join in the ceremonious groin to ass mating ritual, have I found a place for you!
Seriously, this place is so hit or miss. Sometimes it's so deserted you wonder why the bouncers were giving you a hard time (like no seriously, no one was inside, what was the deal?) and other times it's like watching National Geographic the way dudes slink through the crowds pulling girls by their waist. The attention can be nice but sometimes it can make you feel like you're dancing in a show until you've been chosen for potential copulation. Vultures.
Anyways; the club space is kinda small, but they often get some of the bigger name Dj's in the EDM scene to come out and it's never as cramped as you would assume given the narrow design of the place. Drinks have been decent all the times I've went, security patrolling the club has always been courteous and helpful.
Essentially it's all a matter of timing and event - there's worse places to be and better places to be. I know at the least, if a favorite DJ of mine was making an appearance it'd make me think twice before making the trip to SF.
When I told my friend I was going to see R3HAB at District 30, he said, "Watch out for the speakers! I lost hearing in one of my ears last time!" And he was RIGHT. The sound system here is dooope!
The venue is more like a small bar/loungey type of feel. There's a small patio with couches outside and when you walk in the bar is immediately to the right with small couch seating on the left and the dance floor in the back.
The cheapest shot here is $6 but the nice bartender gave me a heads up and said, "If you pay $1, you'll get wayyy better quality vodka" so I said sure. He was right, I don't know what I drank but that $7 was smoooth!
The crowd here is mostly of the older type, maybe mid to late 20s and don't worry, this place aint an AZN INVAZN type place, there's actually a pretty diverse crowd.
Overall, this place is a really classy venue and super fun! They even shoot out compressed air and confetti during the set! (Trying to mimic the oh so famous Marquee). Would definitely come here again!
Came here last Thursday with my friends to see R3HAB and we had such a great time! Â I was very thankful that the event was 21+ because I did not want to be surrounded by babies!
District 30 is pretty classy and most of the crowd is probably in their late 20s. I even thought the area was pretty nice but I've been living in Stockton for the past 4 years so anywhere else looks better! Â The venue is kinda narrow but the space was perfect for our Thursday night because it was just crowded enough where it's not awkward but you still had your own space. It was a pretty good turn out despite the fact that it was raining. I LOVE it when they would blast the fog machine and throw confetti in the air, reminded me of Marquee at Las Vegas :)
Prices are pretty reasonable here. Â Cover was $20 if you bought tickets in advance and $30 at the door. Also, shots were $7 and went down pretty smooth. Â I had a great time, R3HAB was amazing, and I would definitely come again!
So I've been here on a Saturday night and a Wednesday night. Got a different vibe on both days, especially since I didn't drink on the weekday :)
Good things about this place:
Looks trendy
Good sound system
Nice Bartenders
Right next to dive bar and Pizza Rock!!!!
The bad:
drinks are expensive and not strong at all
wayyyyy to many guys here. seemingly, most of them are wall flowers and don't even approach the girls, so i guess that could be a plus for me
On Weds night, the DJ was garbage. He was playing Skrillex for 30 mins straight
The dress code seems pretty whack for how the interior is decorated. A guy with boots couldn't get in
So would I come back? Yeah probably, if I don't have to pay cover or if i come with a fun group of friends.
Wow. Â Does this place blow. Â When going to a club, there are certain expectations that must be met - including but not limited to - well-mixed music, well-mixed drinks, a space design/layout conducive to dancing & mingling, and people with SOME sort of fashion sense. Â
So either I went to District 30 on opposite day, or that place just plain sucks. Â I suspect the latter.
Poo poo on you District 30, poo poo on YOUUUU
I don't know why but my heart always takes me back to District 30!!!
Sometimes I feel like I'm paying $10 cover to watch people dance. Hopefully not trying to offend anyone, I love being amused but I always catch people dance in the most funny ways. For example, a guy salsa dancing to hip hop. HAHA
Asiiiiiiiiide from that, I really like how everyone has a good time here getting drunk off their asses and making fools of themselves. I've been one too! The vibe isn't snobby or elitist compared to other places so have a strong drink, be silly, and dance the night away!
There are a lot of reasons why I shouldn't like District 30. It's easily prone to all the elements of the club scene that I am personally no a fan of: expensive drinks, unrecognizable tunes and numerous girls in identical tube skirts.
Coming here for the first time on a Thursday night, I through a lot of those preconceived notions out the window. The music came bumping out of one of the most fantastic sound systems I've ever heard. The drinks weren't as outrageous as I assumed they would be and certain selections were half off because of Yelp Drinks. The tube skirt automatons were still there, but overall it lacked the elitist vibe you find at some high scale clubs.
I still can't say whether I'd enjoy it if I came during peak hours on a Saturday night, but for my evening out with friends it turned into quite the fun hangout.
Props to the people that designed this building. It's gorgeous on the inside and OUT. District 30 gives off a "Now-THAT'S-WHERE-I-WANNA-BE" vibe to any passerby. The bouncers look serious and firm, but they're not afraid to smile and be friendly to guests waiting in line. Most clubs with an upscale vibe will have the rudest, most annoying bouncers.
There is a nice lounge/couch area right outside the club. Huge plus! It's easy to get back in and out, too. The DJ and music had a little of everything, but house and dance music was the overall theme. The sound system is GREAT. Supposedly the owner of District 30 is the same guy that owns Ruby Skye in SF. There seemed to be more males than females, but unlike most 21+ clubs -- the guys weren't as creepy and old. In a way, the venue has a very intimate setting. It's pretty narrow and the dance-floor isn't outrageously huge, but the DJ has a set up that is close to the crowd. Â Drinks were easy to get. But then again, if you're a female it should be that way anywhere. Â
Overall, I'd definitely go back here again.
Been here twice now and both time I enjoyed my stay surprisingly. I say surprisingly because both time I was DD and completely sober. The DJ played some good hip-hop and a little more than some of it was some-what current. He played a lot of old school stuff though. Its good old school hip-hop but I would like to dance to more the recent stuff. What gives it 4 stars is the crowd that comes here. It seem like there more care free than a lot of the other place. I don't if its because the bartenders are putting extra shots in the cocktails or there is just some care free people that comes here. They are fun to dance with and they can dance.
What marked it down a star is that the place is really narrow and small. Dance floor is about the same size as any other night clubs I've been to in Sacramento. There is only one bar that is not that big either. They didn't have that many bartenders either both nights that I went. Outside lounging is what you see out front. Another thing is they're not that strict with the dress I saw guys with jeans, t-shirt and some sneakers. It could be a bad thing or a good thing I guess so half a star for that one.
Over all 3.5 stars. I would go here again so D30 I'll give you a 4!
We came here with a group of friends to celebrate!
The venue was happening! There was a positive energy and vibe throughout. The place was packed and the floor was moving.
The drinks were tough to get to with a crowded bar. Also wish there was a better place to sit for rest... No tables throughout.
But let's be clear ~ this place isn't for conversation... It's all about dancing! The sound system was amazing!!! Pounding bass, crystal clear treble and mid range with a DJ that kept the energy and pace up. No house music on this Friday night, just fresh jams from the Top 40.
This is the place for dancing for ages 25-35. If you are looking for conversation head next-door to Dive Bar or to The Park Ultra Lounge.
Cool little shotgun style club that brings in some of the best Dj's around. I give it four stars because the drinks are on the pricier side, but the bartenders are attentive and helpful, even with the loud music.
The sound system is perfect for the Djs (Sasha, Aoki) that play here, but the sound is a top 40 with a little heavy dose of electronic.
While the D30 crowd is always changing, its a pretty diverse crowd and is a hit or miss when it comes to being busy. Saturday is the only exception when it is usually slammed.
The other downfall is that the dance floor is a little too small but overall its a beautiful club on K street
I reserved a booth here for my birthday last Friday and I had a great experience. The staff was wonderful! The man in charge of the VIP list got my group and I set up in no time and our cocktail waitress was really friendly and super helpful. She worked fast and fixed a drink for everyone in no time at all and checked on us often enough to clear away glasses and napkins without bothering us.
This place is definitely a lot nicer than some of the other clubs/lounges in Sacramento, with a good crowd. Most of them looked like they were in their late 20s-early 30s but everyone looked like they were having a good time.
If you're like me and don't like paying a cover, try and get on their guest list so that you can get in for free before 11!
District 30 succeeds where Dive Bar and The Mix have failed. Â It has the dance floor and seating amenities not available at Dive in addition to the quality customer service so severely lacking at The Mix. Â
If you are in the mood to dress up and dance without being harassed or haggled, District 30 is inarguably the best place to go in Sacramento. Â The staff is courteous, helpful, and fun. Â Unlike Mix, you're not going to be yelled at by pompous doormen in Men's Warehouse suits. Â Additionally, the District crowd is pretty on par with what you'd hope for- aka not the crowd you'd find at Azukar or Splash. Â The music is great- just think of what you'd hear at a Vegas nightclub. Â
I had my doubts about "Dirty District", but I have to say I was impressed. Â I'll definitely be back.
Not bad! Â Yes same pretentious younger crowd as The Park. Â The space is not that big and really nowhere to sit. Â The huge VIP spot is a waste because the club is so small. The space can be utilized better with some table and chairs for people that don't want a VIP booth.
Now the bouncers were cool. The bartenders were on the job and were not rude to me. (Hey!  I am Paul J everyone is nice to me  all the time-sometimes)
The DJ is why this place gets the NOD. Â I LOVE house music and the DJ spun house music all night long... so my friends and I stayed on the dance floor all night long until they kicked us out. Â Isn't that what a dance club should be about? Â Dancing and having fun, not standing around talking all night. Â
I would try this place again but it's not my first choice. I had fun!
Thought I'd take my sister out for her 30th bday here. My wife, brother and his wife came as well and my sister boyfriend. This was my fist and last time coming here.
Walked up at 10:30, there was no line. The door man looks at me, I'm 1st in line, he says"you cant come in with boots" I pull up the leg of my pants "they are not boots" I say. "ooh those are Doc's?" "yes" "well your wearing cargo pants" "no they are slacks" "they are kind of baggy too" "I'm sorry I'm not a very skinny man" "well I'll make and exception for you this time" Â
I get in the club and see guys wearing T shirts, flip flops and baggy grungy cargo shorts! But they have lighter skin than I of course.
Geez I'm 39 years old dressed up in slacks and a collar dress shirt and your sweating me because I'm tan naturally. How sad is that, ooh and my last name is Greenwood but I guess that's 1/2 too little for you.
Inside they were friendly, busy but the bartender was very friendly. They even gave the women I was with free chapagne for ladies night. It's a shame the door people and management are discrimenant. I could see if I was dressed down or thugish, but I was dressed up better than half the men in the club. If they want to make their club seem fancy and trouble free then maybe they should keep all people out that look like they stepped out the gym unless they truely do want to keep it exclusive in a cacasion sort of way. Your a shame and sad District 30.
District 30 was WELL WORTH the wait tonight. Doors opened at 9ish, two hours after the VIP started at 7. Before the debut of this dance club, M!X Downtown was supposedly THE scene... District 30 was everything M!X promised to be -- and literally deliver it on a silver tray with dark chocolate truffles. Â
I could do without the neon harlequins and the semi-nostalgic B&W visuals on the flatscreens. In a relatively small corner, the real show belonged to the man on the decks (yes, he even brought vinyl) and the sound system. Mr. & Mrs. K. invited a SF Bay Area resident DJ to spin the VIP party. (DYK even some in-house security detail double as DJs. *sigh* Good help is hard to find these days!) Guests weren't disappointed. I particularly enjoyed the MJ mash up with NIN.
Like Dive Bar, this space is deep and narrow. Booths are spacious and thoughtfully dispersed. I simply had to TOUCH the wall... what I thought were twisted strips of satin turned out to be an intriguing ripple, ridge in the concrete. (Please tell me this helps with acoustics.) Â
Insider tip: World-class DJs will grace Thurday nights before Friday and Saturday appointments at Ruby Skye in San Francisco. Steve Aoki 1/13 is already SOLD OUT. Tickets still available for Sasha 1/20... State-workers will beg to have Furlough Fridays again.. Don't be stupid and go home at 11 P.M. when internationally-renowned house and trance artists are here.
