Love this place. Good breakfast, friendly service, and good coffee. The Sandwich I Am (breakfast sandy on a pretzel roll) is really good, enough so that I am craving it right now. I like coming here for lunch with coworkers but they do complain about the higher prices. Either way I think it is fair for the area and the food is better than other breakfast shops.
Really enjoy this place but always a line out the door (good sign). Parking is terrible and rather non existent during breakfast to lunch hours.
I'll be back for sure.
There are lots of breakfast places in this part of town, but Dozens has a few different things that make it stand out from the rest. Â They have some very unusual combinations of ingredients in their omelettes and skillets, many of which are very good. Â I'd prefer if they made hash browns instead of home fries, but that's how I am everyplace, not just here. Â They have several flavors of coffee and many different muffins available each day, which is nice to see, and the banana chocolate chip muffin is very good. Â They don't seem to offer a plain stack of pancakes, which was odd since there is a pancake listed on the kids' menu, but between muffins and Belgian waffles and French toast I guess they have it covered. Â They do give you fresh fruit rather than canned, which is always a plus. Â It's a fairly big place, so even if it gets crowded you generally don't have too long a wait. Â This is a local institution that's been around seemingly forever, and I can see why.
Review Source:While driving down Havana on our way to a park and ride for a recent Broncos game, my wife and I were hungry for some breakfast grub. We noticed this place and it seemed pretty crowded so we loaded up the Yelp app to see what the real deal was.
It was around 930 and the place was indeed packed. We had to wait more than 20 minutes for a table but we didn't mind. The staff was friendly and our waitress was on the ball. It was a clean establishment with a mostly wooden and homey looking interior.
We ordered some brisket hash, eggs, biscuits and gravy and a cinnamon roll. Without a doubt the cinnamon roll was the star of this show. While the other two dishes were ok the Roll was amazing! Huge, hot, gooey and loaded with sweetness and butter! Should have ordered two!!
If for no other reason go here for one of these Rolls with some ice cold milk. I know I will if I'm traveling down Havana again!
This has become our go-to brunch place when my Mom visits. Â I have tried something different each time I am there and they are all pretty good. Â Most recently I ordered a sandwich and asked for no tomato or mayo. Â When the sever dropped it off she noticed the tomato and asked if there was also mayo, when I said yes she immediately went back and fixed my order.
It was very refreshing to see someone be so proactive and not ask just ask if I could wipe the mayo off.
The other thing I like about this place is that different servers will come by and check on us if our server is busy. Â Overall a super place to eat, and the only place we go not for brunch.
I was craving eggs for lunch (yes, lunch!) and I convinced a couple of other people to go with me. I got the omelette which was good for the most part except the fact that it was not spicy at all.
My colleagues ordered the sandwiches and they found them to be tasty but dripping oil. Not really very healthy. Overall three stars.
Who doesn't love a good, hearty breakfast to start the day off right!?! Dozens has been our pretty regular hotspot to hit up for breakfast when we don't feel like driving downtown and/or dealing with huge masses of people. If there is a wait, it usually is never more than 10-15 minutes.
Lately, I have found myself ordering the breakfast frittata. It is basically a cheese omelet that is placed on top of a tortilla and covered in fresh pico de gallo and served with a side of fresh breakfast potatoes. The last time I was there, we split the frittata and a strawberry Belgium waffle (which BTW was crazy tasty!). If I order an omelet, the server will let me sub out the toast for one of their delicious muffins or freshly baked cinnamon rolls (the cinnamon crunch muffin is REALLY good!).
They also offer freshly squeezed juice and coffees - pretty standard for breakfast places. All-in-all, Dozens is a pretty solid breakfast place on this side of town. Service is usually pretty good, and the food is always hot and delicious!
They do a really good huge, smothered, chorizo breakfast burrito. Â The potatoes are served on the side instead of inside, but it's sauteed with onions and topped with pico de gallo. It's really tasty, spicy, and very filling. Â My favorite thing here is the orange juice. Â It's fresh squeezed and served in chilled glasses. Â Best OJ ever!
The staff is friendly and they have big, clean comfy booths. Â If you're looking for a breakfast spot, this is the place to be.
I went with my sisters, and we all ordered something different. Â We were all thrilled with our food, which included the Biscuits and Gravy, the SINammon french toast (made with their homemade cinnamon rolls), and the Steamboat Scramble with added green chile. Â So yummy! Â We sat outside on the patio and loved the atmosphere. Â It was shaded, so it was pleasant even on an 80 degree morning. Â Â Will definitely be going back! Â (I want to try their famous waffle.)
Review Source:Went for breakfast on Memorial Day. Place was pretty full, service seemed way off. Took about 10 mins for our initial visit from our server after being sat, he dropped off waters as he came out then took our coffee order which also arrived about 5 mins later. Coffee wasn't the greatest, but not the worst either. Cocktails were way too pricey at almost $6.00 for a mimosa. I'm not sure if they had sections or not but our server was taking orders in an area about 3 tables around us, then he was also taking care of a table on the patio?? After the meal he bussed our table and we didn't see him for another 10 minutes, it seemed to be the trend that day because while were eating we noticed the table next to us trying to wave him down to pay as well. I'm sure it was just an off-day, but service was way slow that day.
Wifey got the waffle which she enjoyed, I got the "Arnold" which is their bennedict and was kinda disappointed. Â I thought the 2 plate presentation was weird, usually the cool thing about bennedicts is getting the hollandaise on everything else on the plate, in this case I ended up taking a spoon and scooping it on to my hash browns. Â As good as it sounded, I didn't care for the puff dough replacing an english muffin either, it was a butter overload. They were very generous with the hollandaise, but it wasn't too memorable. Hash browns were pretty bland even after a scooping of my hollandaise they still needed lots of doctoring with salt, pepper, and cholula. Ham was good, little bright pink overcooked shrimp they throw on top were weird.
Like I said I just wasn't too thrilled about it, I think the sweet side of the menu is where I'd stick if I ever went here again, the loaded waffle my wife got looked great and from all her moaning I'd say it tasted good too.
A good friend turned me on to this place last year and on my next visit to Denver I insisted on breakfasting here. Â I can't stop getting the How the West Was Won item (where they hide the biscuits and gravy) because -- and I swear this is true -- they're like crack to a southerner, they really do it proper.
The regular coffee is allegedly great but I can attest to the decaf being Folgers-y; that and the overall ambiance and noise level are the only minuses.
Overall it is an excellent place to nurse a hangover or to treat your overnight guest while you try to remember her name. Â Highly recommended!
We went here for Sunday brunch for the first time this past Sunday. Â The food is quite good, but more or less typical eggy breakfast fare (though I will say the ingredients seem very fresh). It was very busy but our waitress was still attentive. The green chile was flavorful but not exactly what I'm used to from New Mexico. It was definitely killer smothered over their version of the Denver omelette.
Review Source:Eggs Benedict is my litmus test for any breakfast joint. Dozens has passed with flying colors dozens of times! I find myself comparing the Hollandaise sauce from Dozens to every other breakfast nook I try. But, it isn't just the sauce that makes their Benny so good. Rather, it is their re-imagining of the dish that results in puff pastry instead of a English muffin that makes it so wonderful.
I have also had the breakfast burrito (nice spice) and cinnamon roll (huge and rich) on multiple occasions. The muffins are great as well and they sometimes (seasonal) carry a tangerine juice that is better than any I have ever had.
I've been here at least 5 times and every time I am a little more impressed than the last. I got breakfast 3 times. Always the Belgian waffle with whip cream and bananas with a side of 2 eggs scrambled. Delicious! Â I've also tried sandwich called the golden triangle. Turkey, cheese, bacon, avacado on grilled buttery sour dough. It's to die for!! Â and quite possibly could give you a heart attack from all the butter. Staff is always friendly. Not to expensive! I will be back for more!
Review Source:I was extremely pleased with my experience at Dozens. Â Only being in town for 3 weeks, I leaned heavily on Yelp to find a great breakfast joint before a visiting co-worker headed to the airport. Â
I saw a review mentioning the Pork Green Chili and I had my mind set on getting an omelet with that before I even looked at the menu. Â I ended up getting the Denver Omelet and yes the Green Chili was the perfect complement. Â Nothing I would eat in a bowl, but perfect dressed over a large portioned omelet.
Here is the other catch. Â We were in a rush and Dozens got us in and out in 35 minutes! Â We informed the hostess that we were in a rush for a flight and she immediately sat us even though there were others waiting (Luck?/Good Looks?). Â The waitress was then informed and took any and all necessary steps to make this a quick but enjoyable experience!
I will be heading back and shame on anyone for the bad reviews!
The coffee was good, the mimosas...expensive ! 5.75 a glass for a champagne flute of sparkling wine mixed with OJ...(my fault for not checking the prices.)
I ordered the biscuits and gravy, I wasn't impressed with the biscuits, they weren't as much "fluffy" as dense and heavy. The potatoes were good, crisp and had onions in them, and my over-easy egg was cooked well. Breakfast for two including mimosas added up to nearly 50 dollars. Ooops !
I did not like the hard benches as some others have mentioned before either. I wonder how many older people have stumbled on the uneven floor plan in the dining area. Good thing we each only had two mimosas !
Dozens is a very non-traditional breakfast spot w/ no pancake dishes, but a very eclectic selection of egg dishes w/ vegetables, fruits & grains. The portions are smaller than normal but are very well prepared & presented, with extremely fast, pleasant service. Â Be aware, if you're expecting a classy, sophisticated interior, this is not the spot but it is casual & comfortable,
Review Source:Was disappointed right from the start with a couple of things. Â Service is just ok. But that might be waitstaff dependent.
Second, if you are gonna advertise freshly squeezed juice then you better freshly squeeze it. Â Ours obviously didn't taste like it. Â And we asked the waitress she laughed and said that it was freshly squeezed somewhere else. It was pretty funny. Â I will give her that. Â I just hate false advertisement.
The rest of the meal was pretty good.
Dozens is a great local place for breakfast. They have very good breakfast burritos and biscuits and gravy. They have a good menu selection, fresh juice and good coffee. I only wish they offered plain coffee in their coffee presses instead of only flavored coffee.
The service was prompt and friendly, and the decor is not fancy, but comfortable.
The best breakfast/brunch place in the area, hands down. Â It makes the Egg and I or Le Peep look like Denny's.
The omelets are always well prepared and they are gracious with the portions. Â You can add pork green chili to any omelet, which I really like. Â The pork green chili isn't too salty and has that good roasted/savory flavor of well prepared green chili (I lived in Santa Fe, NM for a while so I know what good green chili is). Â
Their restaurant is very charming inside and is a good place to relax with a cup of coffee with people. Â Their house coffee is very good too.
I've been eyeing Dozens for a year after seeing reviews on Yelp, and today I decided we'd give it a try. Â I was almost afraid that it wouldn't live up to the reviews, but it did and then some. Â My complaint is that the food arrived so hot I had to wait to eat it - I don't remember the last time I was in a restaurant that served food really HOT. Â
My omelet was perfect and was a decent size, the potatoes were great, the coffee was really decent and the server was knowledgeable and friendly. Â Randy's scramble was great, colorful, chocked full of veggies. Â The sausage patties were tasty, but smallish.
The dish names were not intuitive, so you do have to read through the entire menu to find the simplest dish. But it is really worth it.
We'll definitely make this a favorite spot and take friends.
By far THE best biscuits and gravy I've ever had!
With a name like How The West Was Won how could you go wrong? Â This gut busting, heart attack on a plate is the perfect hangover cure. Â What immediately stood out is the two huge sausage patties on top of two fluffy biscuits drowning in a mass of sausage gravy. Â Oh yeah. Â Now that's what I'm talking about! Â Not only is this a gastronomic mass but every guilty bite was better than the last. Â Spicy breakfast sausage with creamy gravy and warm chewy biscuits.
Your only problem will be trying to get up out of the booth!
Not to be attempted by the weak of stomach, consume this at your own risk of complete food coma.
The food was decent but over priced for what you get, in my personal opinion. First restaurant I've been to that only give you one slice of toast...seriously! That was not cool and I wasn't going to pay the price of a loaf of bread for another slice of toast...not that I checked the price.
My daughter had the biscuits and gravy. Much different and better tasting than most other restaurant's version but a little on the salty side. Not salty just a bit on that side. If you're watching your sodium intake, these won't be a good choice.
Waitress was okay and service is very important to me. I think I may have been a bit more satisfied had she had some spunk or something.
The menu is an ordeal. All these clever little names as titles for meals so it took me a while to figure out what was what. Didn't like that at all. I came hungry and had to do school. Again...not cool. To me, anyway.
It's a decent place but I'm really not impressed. Could have gotten a lot more food and better service at a lower price at the Breakfast Inn.
My co-workers and I were in desperate need of food, there was no way we were going to make it to lunch. I remembered Dozen's wasn't too far, perfect for call in and pick up. Â
My friend and I split 2 omelet's.  I don't remember the names because they are all silly, named after different locations in the Denver area.  I believe one of them was called the Convention Center.  Anyway, they weren't bad.  The eggs were fluffy.  They didn't skimp on the ingredients inside, which were nice and fresh. One had chicken, broccoli and cheese.  The other had really good sausage, mozzarella and tomatoes. Each came with a side of potatoes that reminded me of the kind you make on a skillet over a camp fire.  They were pretty darn good.  There were thin slices of onions throughout which really gave them some flavor.  They did forget my order of toast, but my friend was willing to give me slice of hers.  I also ordered a side of guac, they filled a styrofoam coffee cup full. It wasn't bad, I enjoyed the fresh jalapeños that were in it.
This inside is a bit off-putting, it's pretty kitchsy I don't know if I could actually sit down and eat there and take it seriously! Â It's very yellow and there is lattice all over the ceiling. Â The booths didn't look very comfortable either. Â Take out is A-Ok.
I'm happy at Dozens. They have one of the best grilled turkey, guacamole pepper jack sandwich I've ever had! I also love their Aspen which is weird in theory but tastes so good and very healthy. Its roasted red peppers and garlic tossed in a scramble with feta and avocado. Love their other one w/ chicken and hollandaise too.
They have great coffee and service. The wait moves fast on Sundays but beware they close early at like 2 I think.
Also they have a slightly different menu than the downtown location so if your looking for the grilled sandwich I think its only at Aurora-
Nice Patio when its open:)
ALso if you want to take a picture of a cinnamon roll in another country they'll post it on their wall!! HA !
This has been one of my favorite places for years. Â It has some of the best breakfast omelets anywhere. Â I don't know what it is, but there is something different about the eggs in their omelets. Â I love the 6th Avenue Interchange, but I usually substitue tomatoes for the spinach. Â The potatoes they serve are cooked with onions which makes them just a little more special than the potatoes you get at most places. Â The meals are good size and definitely will not leave you feeling hungry.
If you are looking for lunch selections, the sandwiches are great and the salads are tasty. Â They have one of the best fruit bowls around. Â It is a large bowl of fruit, not just a tiny serving. Â The muffins are also delicious.
Service is nearly alway prompt and the staff is friendy. Â I have never had to wait very long for the food to be served, even when they are busy. Â This is one place I have never tired of even after 15 years.
I've heard so much about the breakfast places here in Denver from all of my classmates- Lucille's, Denver Biscuit Company, Snooze, etc. However, I do live a good distance from those places, at least a good distance at 8:30 in the morning. So, I decided to look up some places near me and Dozens on Havana came up.
As everyone has stated before, the decor is quite farm/country and the benches are a little uncomfortable but it didn't really bother me. I ended up ordered an egg white 38th Avenue omelet which has tomatoes, guacamole, and pepper jack cheese. I know this sounds like a weird combination but it was really good, especially with a little Tabasco as usual. I opted for the cinnamon roll instead of bread and it's just as good as everyone says. The potatoes were okay and a little bland but a little salt/pepper and Tabasco takes care of that.
I was really satisfied with this place and I would go back again if I'm starving like crazy in Aurora. Now, if I could only get up soon enough to venture to Denver before the Sunday 9:00 a.m. rush starts!
Hhhmm... I can't decide whether to give 2 or 3 stars.
Service was good. Tea was weeeeeeeeeaak!
Atmosphere was pleasant. Omelettes were dry and bland.
Menu was fun and alluring. But it really does take a long time to decode.
Cinnamon roll was AMAZING. But I think it's about 1500 calories.
Maybe I need to try again.
A solid four stars from me. Best breakfast I've had on this side of town. Service is always good and I've never had an empty coffee cup. Plenty of parking and seating, though I've never tried going on the weekend during the typical breakfast rush.
I can highly recommend the biscuits and gravy and the raspberry french toast (or whatever crazy names they give them). Their potatoes are also great and have a nice homemade look and taste.
Not quite perfection for me just because I'm not a huge omelette fan and they seem to dominate most of the menu. My friends who've ordered them say they're good though, so I'll take their word for it.
Give them a try if you're in the neighborhood; apparently there's one downtown also, I'm definitely going to check them out too!
We came across this place by pure chance on our way  to Dennys for some breakfast and pulled I'm glad we did. I'm visiting from Texas and we ate here two days in a row it was so good. My wife and I enjoyed everything about our experience dining here. The coffees are great. The cinnammon bun is awesome, we shared one and I can't think when I've had one better. The servers were friendly and efficient. There are healthy choices on the menu and interesting twists to traditional breakfast fare.
Everything tasted fresh and cooked to perfection. We had late breakfasts both times dining here and were filled up till supper. Highly recommend if you haven't been here.
This is a charming little place. Â I met some friends there on a Saturday morning and even though the place was really busy, it didn't feel that way. Â We sat and talked (okay, I talked & talked & talked, my friends just listened) and didn't feel rushed to give up the booth. Â
Our server (didn't catch his name because, of course, I was too busy talking) kept our coffee filled. Â He was very attentive. Â
I ordered an omelet with ham, peppers, onions and cheese. Â The peppers and onions were very fresh, cooked perfectly. Â And the hashbrowns were real potatoes. Â Nice. Â All in all I think this is a little diamond waiting for you in the Aurora area. Â If you haven't checked it out, you really should.
I have been dining at Dozens for years and have never had a bad experience. The menu has a really nice selection and my kids always find something to devouer. My kids and I really enjoy doing the brunch thing however some of my experiences at Dozens involved a "recovery" effort on my part usually involving decisions made the night before.
The fact that they offer mimosas and bloody mary's among other libations is EXTREMELY helpful. Lasy year my oldest friend came to visit from Chicago. Needless to say after a night out we woke up feeling a bit "fragile" and headed directly to Dozens. The server was extremely kind and took good care of us. The seafood omlette and yes, I forget the name, is just about the most ridicuous plate full of heaven a girl has ever seen. It has REAL CRAB! It has Hollandaise sauce and cheese it's delicious. It did wonders. If seafood isn't your thing there is a pluthera of of satisfying choices to soothe ones soul.
So I say if your headed to brunch with the family or recovering with friends Dozens is the place for you! Â If you're there for the recovery you may want to bring a pillow, the hard seats are Dozen's one downfall.
Went there for breakfast this morning. Â I had the Eggs Arnold. Â It's really quite tasty, made with a puff pastry instead of the standard english muffin. Â And, there's shrimp involved. Â My boyfriend had an omlette, and thought it was ok. Â
I'll probably return, but I won't be running back.
This place is great, it was everything I could've hoped to find in a local breakfast place surrounded by chain restaurants. Â I got the Wash Park omelette and it was damn near perfect. Â Service was good, the waitress was happy and humorous, coffee and mimosa were good. Â All in all a fantastic place to head the morning after a night of sufficiently inebriated revelry.
While we were there I asked our waitress about the two slices of toast thing and she said it's true that they only gave one slice, but offered to give me another one if I really wanted it. Â Of course I didn't do that though, it would've been gluttonous. Â I mean, who needs more than one piece of toast?? Â +1 star though since she offered, because, you know, that's such a critical factor in judging the quality of a restaurant.
Fantastic breakfast. The group I went with all got omelettes and the consensus was that they were the best we'd ever had. Very affordable, all the meals were under $10. They also have mimosas and bloody marys available.
Great service, very friendly. We joked with our waitress about the review that says they only give one piece of toast. She said that she would be happy to bring us out another piece.
My husband says that it's a great place for hangovers.
I've been to both DOZENS and I prefer this one because no one knows about it. Â It's still busy, but doesn't seem quite as hectic.
I go and read the paper and wait for a table knowing full well that I'm going to have the best eggs and toast and rolls in town. Â
Yes, the cinnamon rolls ARE amazing and you ought to order one even if you just take it home for an afternoon snack.
My favorite breakfast place in Denver.
