Great place to eat, it was super busy, the hostess didn't show up so the poor waiter
was doing two jobs. Tipped him well. Food was great; but didn't get appetizers and onion rings were way too greasy. Burgers were great!

This place is a hidden gem. It was enthusiastically recommended to me by a local who loved to encourage students to get out of the West Lafayette area.

At first I was skeptical as both the eating area and the bar looked a little run down and greasy. I have been twice, once to each side. Both times we were told to sit where we liked. The chairs were mismatched and uncomfortable and the table well abused.

However when our food came all of that was forgotten. OH MY ! It was some of the best fried food I've had in a long long time. The drinks were also quite good and the staff were pleasant.  The menu is HILARIOUS and I love the brutal honesty.

I docked one start because of the look of the place but I have to say, even that is growing on me. The eclectic look contributes to the over all vibe of the bar and enhances the experience.

This isn't one to miss !

The Bottoms-Up burger is the best burger I have had. Their food is very unhealthy, but the taste is wonderful. The owner is very friendly, and each time I have gone, he has been present and has always greeted us. Other burgers to consider are the truckstop, the macdonald, and the pretzel burger. While I have never had it, my friends have had bad experiences with the grilled cheese burger, so avoid.

What a great bar. The food is all fried, the beer is cold, and the owner is frequently behind the bar telling lies and slinging drinks.

I get back to Lafayette once or twice a year, and my last time in town I stopped in to see friends before a football game. I drank a massive beer and had a pork tenderloin (if you're reading this in Indiana, please remember not to take your pork tenderloins for granted.  They can't be found beyond your borders.) It felt like home, and I think that's what they're going for.  I hope I can keep coming back for many years.

This place is great, definitely a gem in downtown Lafayette!!

My sorority went here as a part of our bar crawl, and the owner/manager and the rest of the staff was super hospitable, and excited to have a group of 30 crazy sorority girls in his bar! He gave us free shots of Jameson, which was a really nice gesture!

Aside from that, the drink prices were fair, and although I did not get a chance to eat, I've heard the food is incredible, definitely something I want to try!

The atmosphere is fun, and lively, the perfect place for chill drinking.

Overall, if you are ever in the area do not skip this bar, it is awesome!!

A place for Bears fans!  Go for the DOGS! Oh man.  The menu here is extensive and has every type of heart attack you could possibly dream up.  I had a Pretzel Dog last night...  Spicy Mustard, Cream Cheese and CheezWhiz!  Yum!

Whoa, this place is like a heart attack on a plate and i LOVE it. The food is wonderful and greasy. Trust me, you will walk out pounding at your heart. The food also comes in HUGE portions and its damn tasty.

People always recommend the fish and chips, I am used to have crispier fish but their fish isnt heavily batter like i am used to. But i was surprised by how wonderfully seasoned it was.  They also have some great hot dogs and if you are feeling adventurous and your heart feels strong, go for the burger with the two grill cheese sandwiches as buns.

Its also a townie sorta bar, a dive which makes it SOOOOO much better. Its a pretty fun crowd and if the owner is in the house he will walk around, talk to you, share a drive and even give you a couple of free shots. He almost talked my friend and I into participating in a bacon eating contest. If there is a Purdue game on, the crowd there will make it so much more fun.

One look inside this place should tell you all you need to know about Kirby's....its Lafayette's premier dive bar. The beer is cheap, the food is delicious, and it's always a fun time. The service is hit and miss but I'm not there expecting 5-star service...my friends and I go for the awesome food and for the atmosphere.

We tried DT Kirby's for the first time today.   The bread is made by Great Harvest and was fantastic.   They make their own potato chips which were also very good.   I had a tenderloin and my husband had a triple hog.   Both sandwiches were really large and tasty.   We had iced tea, which was so-so.   If we go again, we'll bring a bottle of ketchup from home.   They have some kind of thing against ketchup, which is weird.  I asked for ketchup 3 times and still never got so much as a packet.   Our family consumes lots of ketchup.   One suggestion for the place, I never saw any kind of sign.   We weren't sure we'd found the right place.   They need a visible sign.

I love a good dive bar, but this place is missing the most important parts of a dive.  It is as bright as a supermarket (no one wants that late at night), and there is no music!  Terrible atmosphere for a bar.  I am really surprised by how many people like this place (though perhaps there are just no other options in Lafayette).

As far as food goes... ick.  EVERYTHING is covered in grease.  I don't mind if a burger is greasy, or some fried food (it's expected), but I mean everything in this place is dripping with grease -  to the point where the entire bread on your sandwich is soggy!

Also, the service is also really, really, slow. And they can't really accommodate a group of more than 4 people.

I had heard this place was one of the more interesting restaurants in town to check out due to their creative take on sandwiches, so I was intrigued. I ordered the grilled cheese hamburger and had a veggie burger substituted in for the beef. As you can imagine, this was like 2.5 sandwiches in one, so I definitely went home with leftovers.  The chips that came on the side weren't terrific.  Their hot dogs sounded pretty interesting as well - they should definitely add in a veggie option for this!

After hearing rave reviews about this place, and how everyone seemed to have gone there but me i had to check it out. I don't go down town much but i will go more often now. First of all, the menu is a lot to take in as a new customer so i went online and checked it out  so i knew exactly what i wanted. Its not for the healthiest person, its a dive bar with really good food and atmosphere. I had the bbq bacon cheeseburger and it was crazy good. Extremely messy, but well worth it. The portions of food you get for the price is even better. There are plenty more things that i plan on trying next time i am there,  which will be very soon. Definitely go check it out if you're looking for delicious food and a fun atmosphere.

4 out of 5 doctors say this place is a nightmare for your heart, and I will completely agree with this statement! Although delicious, it might not be the healthiest place for you, but if you want health food, go to Subway. Order some whiskey and get the cheeseburger with two grilled cheese sandwiches as buns. Man up and make those arteries work. The restaurant/bar is split into two, one side mainly for people eating food, the other for people there to drink. Or do both! You will be glad that you did. 100% guaranteed.

I ordered the buffalo chicken strip sandwich and potato fries, and the sandwich itself weighed as much as a newborn baby. The bread was great, the different mess of things surrounding the chicken was great, and the actual buffalo chicken strips were... wait for it... great. The potato fries are wonderful and the dipping sauce it comes with was delicious. My total for this meal came to $11.11. Make a wish for more food and drinks! My companions ordered the veggie burger and potato fries and the wimpy burger and potato fries, alongside a lemon shakeup. It was a very satisfying experience. I will hopefully return to one day ruin the grilled cheese cheeseburger concoction that taunts me in my dreams.

Don, the 'D' in DT, told me he's always wanted to own a dive bar. Dive it is. It's also one of my favorite places on this planet...and it's friggen 950 miles from my now home. Whenever I get back to Lafayette (2x-3x/yr), this is one of the places I have to visit.

DT Kirby's, how do I love thee? The grill cheese cheeseburger is a cheesy, meaty beauty just waiting to harden my arteries. The Wimpy Burger makes me feel wimpy because I can hardly finish it. The 6th and Main makes me feel less-than-manly because I have to get a to-go container. The lovely Chicago Dog with chips gives my tongue goose bumps. And their breakfasts - I can eat breakfast there every day and never get bored. Plus they have Old Style on tap.

It's small, cramped and cozy, just like a dive bar should be. Don and company makes everyone feel at home.

Finally made it here!! I have been hearing about DT Kirnys since the moment I moved here but for some reason it took me over two months haha I had high expectations since everybody told me that their burgers were the best... I had the Bacon BBQ Cheddar with the breaded mushrooms instead of fries. I wasn't impressed with the burger for the first bites but then the flavor started flowing and I couldn't help myself and devoured it like if I haven't eaten in days hahah The mushrooms were a very interesting option and probably better for you but they taste wasn't very special but still I finish them all.... I have to admit that they have one of the best burgers I have tried in my life so far.

Glorious, juicy and occasionally exotic burgers. The portions are sizable and enough to send one into torporific bliss.

I loved the wasabi burger (the jalepenos are a bit much) and their wings are superb. The beer selection is so-so and the service is spotty.

If you want to wash down gorgeous, gargantuan burgers with a pint of  beer, this is the place.

    Yumm!
One of my favorite places to eat before or after bar hopping and just anytime I'm in the mood for some good simple food. Although there is nothing simple about DT Kirby's food. Yes, it is the staple of american food due to the majority of what they have on the menu is hamburgers & hot dogs. Yet, each individual entree is a complex mixture of ingredients and flavor!!!

I normally order the Bacon Egg Burger (Big burger topped w/bacon, your choice of cheese, & a fried egg) with a side of the fries. Their fries are cut super thin so it almost has a home-made chip texture to it! The fires can be a crowd pleaser all on its own. You can also have them dusted with seasonings such as cajun, ranch, etc.

They come up with some crazy twists on their sandwiches such as the The grilled Cheese-Cheeseburger. This sandwich is made out of 2 grilled cheese sandwiches used as the buns, black angus, tomato, lettuce, cucumber & house sauce. Or how about their Deep Cut Dog that consist of a deep fried hot dog split down the middle, then grilled, cheese squirted down the middle, & then topped off with bacon, onion, and jalapeno.

The bar/restaurant maybe small in size but their portions of food are pretty dang big! DT Kirby's is normally pretty busy so try to get there early in order to get a seat of choice. Yes, they do offer other entrees other than just hamburgers & hot dogs but they tend to be standard american options w/a Kirby's twist to it....or chicago themed.

Sadly, I must admit that I have never had much luck with the actual service there. In my experiences, it seemed like you had to sit at the bar to get somewhat decent timed service. When you did get acknowledged, lets just say, they didn't seem so glad to see you. You could tell that it pays off to be a regular in this place! I have heard from many others that I have bad luck due to the fact I have not been there while the couple that owns the place, is there. Apparently they are very sweet, a lot of fun, and are very customer oriented. I hope I meet them on my next trip there.

ALSO, I have yet to have it but apparently the new rave in town that I have been hearing about is DT Kirby's breakfast! Have not heard one bad thing about it! Can't wait to try it!!!

The owner is a complete horse's ass. He is so full if crap his eyes are brown. I am a proud Chicagoan myself, but this guy is an IDIOT! First off, he refuses men a knife to cut their food in half, because "real men should eat it whole." What!?!- I believe utensils are created equal... I like cheese on my hotdog- you can not order a Chicago dog with cheese. Well-let me tell ya  something- A smart Chicagoan never turns down an up charge. FOOL! Oh- and he used to be a motivational speaker, in other words a con artist. I bet these sweet people of West Lafayette soak up his bullshit like a sponge. He couldn't believe that I didn't want an Old Style and belittled me ignorantly about it. Lol. Who the heck does this guy think he is? Capone? It is cramped in there and smug. I will take my Chicago pride back to the Southside where it belongs. And this guy can swindle somebody else.

If there are bars in Heaven I hope they're similar to DT Kirby's.  What more could you ask for in a restaurant?

The food is FANTASTIC, and the portions are HEARTY! (understatement of the day) The food/drink to price ratio is almost criminal, and that makes this restaurant one of the best in my book.  Every time I went there I got the Buffalo Chicken sandwich because I couldn't imagine anything on the menu being any better.

I'm glad I don't live in West Lafayette or go to Purdue, because if I did I would most certainly be 3x my size as a result of my food/drink consumption from DT Kirby's.

Sweet Baby Ray's this place is nothing short of incredible.

My only criticism is it's size! That place can be REALLY tight.

Went here with my hubby.  I got the wimpy burger, but there was nothing wimpy about the taste.  Perhaps one of the messiest burgers you will have, but by far one of the best.  I got fried mushrooms as my side, and they were awesome.  The house sauce that comes with the side items as a dipping sauce reminds me of Zaxby's sauce which I love!

Hubby got a bacon topped burger that for the life of me I can't remember the name of; however, he said was good.  He got onion rings which were good too.

The menu is also fun to read and very original.  Don, the D in DT, stopped by each table and is a very social nice guy.  There was a musician playing playing the Saturday we went.  The place has a very cozy feel, and we will be coming back again and highly recommend anyone else to stop this great local restaurant.

This isn't the kind of place you want to go to if you're on a health diet.  However, if you aren't and are looking for great burger, I would highly recommend it.  The mushroom and swiss burger is especially good.  Fried mushrooms and swiss atop a fresh half pound patty cooked to order.  Delicious.

Also, the owner is a real entertainer.  Don't be surprised if he cracks a joke or two with you.

I ate here one time and I almost died of a heart attack....and I didn't mind at all. Before going out drinking, my friends and I started our evening here. We had hot dogs. Mine was wrapped in waffle fries before being deep fried, then coated in a spicy mayo, topped with fried onions and banana peppers. With it I had a long island because when a full bar is available, long islands will happen.

But here's the catch...They were low on seating so we had to sit upstairs and it was so hot up there that we literally had sweat dripping off of our faces. Ok, that's it, I'm taking them down to three stars because that SUCKED!

Everything on the menu is a heart attack on a plate, but you'll die happy!  Think two grilled cheese sandwiches as the bun for a cheeseburger. Think bacon wrapped deep fried hot dogs. Think paradise!

As delicious (and wrongity wrong) as the food is, the owner is what made the experience for me. He wanders around and chats up the tables. And he's a trip!  Ask him about the eating challenge.  Be sure to tell him you're a Cubs fan too. Maybe you'll share an Old Style (on tap there).

DT Kirby's is going to expand very soon to have a family dining side (read: no beer). The extra space will be helpful since they're always busy. I'll be sticking to the bar side myself, and I'll definitely be back.

This can be a fun place if what you want is pub food in a casual atmosphere. The sandwiches are among the tastiest in town, and even the potato chips are made in house. Yum! The bar is limited but adequate. The vibe is genuine; it doesn't in any way feel like some corporate pseudo-pub, because it's not. At the wrong time it can be overwhelmingly loud, but it's a great hang during off-hours.

Owner Don works the room with a vibrant personality, and is fun to banter with. On the downside, he takes lamentable pleasure in constructing large plates of dietetically challenging food while openly denigrating healthier choices. In all fairness, though, the Sandfranwhich is a nice plate.

Be warned: Don't you dare ask for a fork to eat a sandwich! In the right mood I can enjoy the over-the-top "Sandwich-Nazi" schtick (à la Seinfeld), but  I've seen it carried too far, when diners with dietary restrictions or other specific needs were given an obstructionist lecture, and served something that didn't work for them.

I wish this was around when I went to Purdue.

This place is the perfect dive... awesome bartenders (and the Don who I believe is the owner), its small and cozy, and the food is glorious greasy goodness. What more could you want? Oh yeah, its a Chicago bar too...so all you ChiTown folks have a place to go and talk Cubs/Bears/etc... and they love talking there, even if you aren't a fan they will talk sports. Its fantastic.

We sat at the bar and were instantly greeted with handshakes by Don. Very cool guy. We got some large mugs of old style (probably the only bar in the area with it)... and began chatting sports. Since I am a Colts fane Don and I had some fun taking jabs at each other haha... then we got to the important part - food. The menu is pretty big...and theres even specialties (like the food challenge) that aren't on it.

I went with the Uncle sandwich and it was fantastic. Kind of a reuben-ish style sammy but with a few different types of meats on it. My friend got a buyer with pulled pork on it (the name escapes me) but he said it was one of the best burgers he has ever had...he ate it too fast for me to try it. One of the my other friends got a sourdough burger that was great (actually got a bite in haha). The kettle chips that come with the sandwiches and burgers are very good, but if you are looking for an even better side get the deep fried mushrooms. WOW... I almost ate half of my friends basket. They are fantastic, especially with the sauce they come with.

I wish this bar was in Chicago...but if it was there would be a line down the street and it would quickly lose its charm.

Oh place-without-a-sign, how I love thee...

Available here are what are probably the best fries in Lafayette, perhaps Indiana.

They serve up some kick-ass unusual burger combinations.  The Overseas Burger rocks, as does a name-I-can't-remember burger we split what had eggses on it.  Eggses.  And possibly bacon. I shall refer to it as the Hobbit Burger now.  (NOTE: Hobbit Burger not made with real Hobbit)

An off-the-menu creation is the "Indiana dog."  It's not a "dog" at all, instead it's a pork tenderloin rolled to resemble a dog, and filled with ... bleu cheese. Mmmm.  Served on a pretzel roll.  Mmmmm.  Did I mention mmmm? :)

Their fried pickles are very, very good, as are their nachos.  I've also had their Chicago style dog, and it's just... yeah.  Goooood.

They're also famous for a "grilled cheese cheeseburger," which is a burger and instead of buns, they use 2 grilled cheese sandwiches.  I haven't had this concoction yet but I'm told it is just awesome, and I'm sure it is.  Someday!

Their beer mostly sucks.  Look, I pull no punches - I'm a beer geek.  Old Style on tap?  Yeahhhhh... no.   At least they do keep a tap stocked with a People's brew - and that's good.  I know, they're playing to their regulars/target market, and that's cool.  But this is my review, so I've got to comment on what I DON'T like about the place.

I'm not of the Sports Tribe - and this place lives and breathes sports - and I still like going there, so... that has to say something too.

So, anyway, the place's food is good, you can usually get one good beer (whichever People's they have at any given time), and if you like sports, well, hell, you just might move in.

DT Kirby's is a fun place to eat. It's a virtual hole in the wall, but the food is good. They have a large and ever changing menu of extremely creative items. They have cheeseburgers with full grilled cheese sandwiches as buns, deep fried hotdogs with crazy toppings, and more conventional sandwiches like Philly beef.

The owner is very interesting to talk to and is from Chicago which is highly evident from the Bears and Cubs memorabilia that decorates the bar.

My friends have had the truck stop, the grilled cheese cheeseburger, and the pretzel burger. All looked delicious and extremely filling.

On my most recent visit I got one of the trial menu items, the chicken BLT. It was a massive sandwich on delicious crusty bread. It had two full chicken breasts, bacon, tomatoes, and lots of cheese. What made it really good was an enormous helping of seasoned mayo that oozed out of the sandwich like crazy. Healthy-no delicious...YES. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of their home made chips, but there fries are very good and I have yet to try their onion rings.

    Bottom line: Fun, unusual place
                          Relatively cheap
Not for those on a diet!!!!

Oh, DT Kirby's how I love you.

1-2 craft taps, and an absolute ton of just the best tasting, tastiest sounding diner food in the world.

I'm not exaggerating by much.  After you've been there, you'll agree.

A small place, but that's what makes it even better.  6-8 tables, a nice stocked bar, table-rail along the wall.  Get there early, make friends with strangers if you must to get a table.

    We've had their:

    -Fried pickles (excellent)
-Fries (worshipful.  If, like us, you don't attend church on Sunday, get these instead)
-Loaded down nachos with steak and guac (Guh, drool)
-Some burger for breakfast with awesome egg on it
-Some a burger with feta/onions/olives on it on a pita (Oh. My. Goodness)
-Indiana Dog (blue cheese breaded tenderloin on a pretzel bun.  Yes you'll love it)
-Fried mushrooms (just like I used to get as a kid)
-Chicago Dog (even though I can't eat it with a bun, it STILL rocks!)

The bartenders are happy to make me drinks based on very vague descriptions (lemon, top shelf stuff, not too sweet) and for those who have to kick it old school, they have some interesting stuff on tap/in bottles.  Just ask.

On Fridays the place is hoppin' and Don himself is there working the room.  If you have never been in the presence of the Man, you have to go once during prime time to soak in his joking with regulars, his answering our questions and him sinking shots at the bar with his customers.  He is how we found out about the not-on-the-menu-Indiana dog and his personality fills the room. =)

Mr. D isn't just there on Fridays, but really, you just have to go once during 'prime time' to get the feel of the thing.  You're not going to get Hunter S Thompson's stuff by reading the Cliff notes, so don't just go to DT Kirby's when it's slow and there's elbow room.  Get friendly!

It doesn't get better than this for bar/diner food at it's awesomeness

Go when you have a hangover.

Go when you want a hangover. ;P

    Go for the food.

    Just go already!

DT Kirby's has everything I'm looking for in a bar. Great prices, great staff, out of this world food, and oh yeah, It's a Bears bar.

I can't recall how many times I've eaten here. I've tried almost everything. Don & Trish really have a great thing going for them, and DTs is one of the biggest things I miss about living in the Greater Lafayette area.

    So here  are my favorties:
    Buffalo Chicken Sandwich
    Bacon Cheeseburger
    Philly with Cheez-Whiz
Triple Hog- THREE DIFFERENT KINDS OF PIG
Fried Mushrooms/Pickles/Onions/Fries with the secret fry sauce
    Reuben Sandwich
    Reuben Omelette
Every single hot dog on the menu

Also, don't be a wimp, please refrain from asking for a knife to cut your sandwich/burger. Bear down & get a freaking napkin.

If you ask you ketchup, you will be heckled until you leave. And rightfully so, normal people do not put ketchup on a hot dog!

I love you, DT Kirbys, and Bear Down Chicago Bears.

After reading all the wonderful reviews on Yelp and thinking, "why haven't I heard of this place before?" I was really excited to go for lunch.

If you haven't been here before beware that there is no outside sign. I drove right by it once before turning around. It's right across from the theater. It really is a hole-in-the wall kind of place which is different for me.

When we got there on a Saturday around 1:30 it was packed. The place isn't that big to begin with and my boyfriend and I walked awkwardly through the place trying to find somewhere to sit. The owner was very nice and told us we could wait in the back. We were seated right away as a group of people were just about to leave anyway.

We were promptly given menus. There is a large selection of sandwiches, burgers, and hot dogs that you'll probably never find anywhere else. I got the deep-cut dog which is a deep fried hot dog with cheese sauce in the middle and jalapeños (I said no to onions). The bun was perfectly toasted and the dog was so juicy. The chips that came on the side were also my favorite. I was filled for the rest of the day and well into the night with this meal for about $4.25.

There were many different tvs displaying different games and sporting events going on at the time. The owner is also a very personable guy making time to stop at each table and saying bye when you leave. I would definitely like to return sometime soon. As we left a local told us that we had to get there earlier next time to get a good table.

I've been back and decided to get the blue cheese burger this time. Best blue cheese burger ever! The sloppy goodness of blue cheese with blue cheese dressing dripping down was so satisfying.

I really like DT Kirbys.  For a great price you can get a filling meal.  On Saturday, I stopped in for lunch starving because I hadn't eaten anything all day.  My friends had been previously and had ordered the grilled cheese cheeseburger and raved about it.  And yes, I typed that correctly...its a quarter pound cheese burger sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwiches.  While it sounds like massive heart failure on a plate, it certainly lived up to my expectations---being that it met my taste requirements, was disgustingly good greasy and not finishable by one person.  One hint...if you're going to order this badboy, be prepared to split it with someone.  As a side note, the burger comes with homemade potato chips which I wasn't crazy about, so maybe substitute with fries.

Other reasons to like DT Kirbys: the owner is very personable and makes it a point to chat with all the customers but not so much that it's overbearing.  He genuienly seems to be interested in if you like your food and being served to your liking.

Evidently they serve breakfast on Saturday morning (not sure about Sundays bit I think so) until noon.  I gotta get in for that.

After eating what I had for lunch, I didn't have to eat the rest of the day....was too full.

    Did I mention it's cheap?

This place was actually a great disappointment. The potato chips were stellar and they serve Peoples' Brewing Company IPA. But other than those two very good assets, the place fell flat in almost every respect.

The pork tenderloin was wooden and tasteless. Nothing moist here. Just a crust of uninteresting, over-fried batter on a cardboard fillet that might just as easily have been reconstituted chicken breast.

The burger was no better -- and had neither the flavor nor the moisture content that its New Orleans spice-smother would suggest. And besides, was that melted cheese on my burger, or was it just something stuck to the top of my bun?

And then there was the server, who, though nice as could be, had considerably less knowledge of the menu than the pork tenderloin sandwich itself. The menu, in its stochastic, grammar-less and almost un-followable format, advertised "Irregular Fries" -- which look fantastic, and which might actually be good, although I have no real guarantee that that's what I got. True, the potato chips a I got were wonderful. But the irregular fries (advertised as long and thin cut fries with a choice of Parmesan, garlic or Cajun seasoning) were what I ordered. The server seemed unaware of the difference.

And then there's the owner, whose loudmouthed, bullish banter is somewhat less irksome in a bartender than in a guy sitting next to you in an airplane. Nonetheless, with sub par food and a server with the mental capacity of the cardboard it tastes like, it was more of an annoyance than anything else.

Keep serving PBC, DT Kirby. Right now, it's just about the only thing you've got going for you.

Someone mentioned that this place had great sandwiches, so I wanted to check it out, but then I figured out that it was a bar, and I really didn't want to go since I figured it was smoky.

I eventually bit the bullet and went for lunch, and it appeared to be non-smoking, so win-win. (although I overheard that they are remodeling the upstairs and hope to make it smoking.. boo)

The menu was larger than I expected with lots of interesting sandwiches. I was tempted by the "Triple Hog" sandwich, but ended up going with a Cuban. Good sandwich. The bun was a one-piece deal, with a slit down the middle to hold all the meat. The sandwich also came with long-cut home style potato chips that were really good too. Total cost for the sandwich, chips and a coke was a little over $9.

I can't really speak to how good of a bar it was, as I personally don't care much - Lafayette has enough places to get beer and watch a bunch of TV's. As a sandwich shop, it seems pretty awesome. I hope to try more sandwiches, and some of their weekend breakfasts in the near future.

Cheers.  Moes.  The Drunkin Clam.  MacLaren's Bar.  All legendary bars in their own right, but fail in that none of them are in the Greater Lafayette Area.  Kirby's is our Cheers or Moes.  The perfect hole in the wall pub, with great drinks, and amazing food.  The portions are large, the fries & chips are homemade and AMAZING.  The best is that D makes it point to talk and get to know each of his customers that come in.

Kirby's is a gem in the area, and my absolute favorite place to go.  Plus, if you are a cubs fan, this is the place to go.
