Decent breakfast
More like a 3.5.
Great location and they validate for the parking garage.
Servers are really friendly and service is quick and efficient. Food comes out quickly.
I always get the Barn Omelette which comes with broccoli, onion, tomato, spinach, cheddar, and Swiss cheese. So good. Hash browns are extra crispy. My bf's had the Tommy boy skillet and the eggs Benedict, both were delicious. My brother in law liked their corn beef hash. Pancakes are pretty good.
I've always enjoyed everything I've ordered here. Â Portions are pretty huge and decently priced. Â Service is speedy, but servers are pretty nonchalant and slightly distant. Â The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is that utensils are always dirty whenever I come here! Â They need get better dishwashers.
Review Source:Eehhh...this place is average: not bad, not good - just fine I suppose. It is a chain, so..I didn't go in with super high hopes anyways.
It was a pretty pleasant surprise that there was no wait for a party of 5 on a Sunday at 12:30ish.
But, I feel like----YOU'RE IN THE CITY! And there are so many !incredible! options to try that I would have preferred not to settle for subpar, but..whatcha gonna do??---I was with a group that was not exactly of the same opinion. They wanted convenient and I'll give them that--this place was rather conveniently located near the thick of things in the city/where we wanted to be.
Overall, this place is just fine...
Eggsperience sounds touristy to me which is a type of place I typically would not like to go to while visiting a new city, but I'm glad I did! Â My husband and I decided to "eat with no regard to our resolutions" when we arrived in Chicago. Â So, with respect to that, at Eggsperience, I indulged in the Mile High Omlette, a classic ham, green peppers, onions and cheese omlette with a side of hashbrowns and pancakes. Â Wow! Â I couldn't even eat a third of it, but every bite was delicious. Â The service was friendly and attentive. Â What a great way to start our day and our adventure in the Windy City.
Extra: Â They bake their own bread. Â I recommend the 9-grain. Â Yum.
"Eggs" is in the name and so "Eggsperience" is an apt name due to the plethora of egg dishes. Â The pancakes were better than the eggs. The whole experience seemed pretty mechanical, a factory of egg slinging. It was pretty hard to catch the attention of waitstaff. Â That is probably due the large number of customers they serve at one time; there were filled chairs in the hundreds.
Review Source:I Â abhor this place. First time I ate here, the breakfast burrito was soggy and bland. I ended up with an upset stomach as well. Well, that was on an all-nighter so I gave them the benefit of the doubt, maybe their food wasn't responsible.
Then, I came back late night with some friends. Ordered eggs benedict, confirming two-three times that they'd leave out any meat. Deep in conversation, I didn't notice until 2 bites in that there was ham. Not only can I not eat meat for religious reasons, but I've never eaten meat... for all I know it could have provoked an allergic reaction. And they tried to charge for my replacement waffle.
I refused to pay and said my friends won't pay a penny either... the manager said it would come out of my waiter's paycheck. Of course I wasn't going to do that to the poor guy, so I paid for it, then had Amex charge it back.
I will never set foot in this place again, and I will do my best to deter others from going there as well.
Wow, what an amazing place! I am not the biggest person on going out to eat for breakfast at diners, I prefer lunch usually, but ever since my boyfriend and I tried Eggsperience, the experience has definitely been life changing. The place has the cutest coffee and smoothie bar with tons of different varieties, same as their food selection. I ate the spinach and mushroom skillet, and the eggs were perfectly cooked and the combination was perfect. My banana strawberry smoothie was not too sweet or artificial, I could actually taste the fruit. If you are looking for a cute place in the middle of downtown with reasonable prices with amazing food, I would definitely recommend Eggsperience!
Review Source:So let me say I have rarely had such a perfectly cooked egg. Â I like my eggs over hard and very rarely are they cooked truly hard without also being a bit crispy/overdone on the thinner parts.
These eggs were still soft, still white on with nary a crisp mark or burn and yet not a trace of snotty egg goo I so despise was to be found. Â FANTASTIC job egg cooker you get a prize.
But I can't mark this restaurant higher than a 3 because the potato pancakes were super dry and awful. Â
We were seated right away at the bar and service was great especially considering how busy they were.
I'd still go back if I were in the area again but I will not be getting the potato pancakes which is sad because I LOVE potato pancakes.
vegetarian: Â Super easy as it is breakfast food. Â I suppose you have to give away your meat or ask to sub it for something on some of teh combos.
GF: Â An omelet? Â Crepes? Â Hash Browns? You'll be fine...
Eggs any way you like them. Organic and served quickly with great service. They also have every breakfast item you can think of.
timing is key here to avoid waits but even at its most crowded the turnover is very quick.
The downside here is, when its crowded the food quality seems to drop precipitously.
The omelets are of ridiculous proportion and come with two side dishes, so come hungry.
They also bake them, so they look extra huge.
I would've given this place a 4 if it were only based on food. The food was good here--my husband had the skillet and I had the original bennie. Their pancakes were fluffy and definitely one of the better ones I've had. What made me took away 1 star was the price. The two breakfasts we had were really not that much when compared to other breakfast places such as Yolk. It was the first time ever we finished all plates, including the pancakes (they only gave you two, and the size was small), at any breakfast place, and no we hadn't been starving ourselves. The tab came at around $35. The quantity/price ratio is just too low for me to return here.
Review Source:If you believe in healthy breakfast, don't read my reviews. Â I may get some healthy things every once in a while, but, let's face it, I will take what tastes good over what is healthy 4 out of 5 times. Â That said, what I had here was not that unhealthy, but it was not something for someone trying to watch their figure.
The fun names for their dishes I cannot remember, but I remembered the pics I took of them and will describe from there. Â I had the french toast with the nutella on it... and I added strawberries and bananas on top! Â So there not completely over the top unhealthy. Â My daughter had the pumpkin pancakes with a sausage link and eggs. Â Again, not bad... except for that whip cream. Â My love had the scramble with spinach, tomatoes, ham and light cheese (for calcium, of course) with some hash browns... and she should have shared it with three people. Â It was ginormous!
Well, again, I don't necessarily order a healthy breakfast because I want to be healthy. Â I just want it to taste good. Â Trust, everything here is good! Â Healthy or otherwise...
PS: Â This also made me a nutella fan!
Cheers!
We came here to try to sober up after drinking way too much. Â Their 3 stars come from the fact that they didn't throw us out for being obnoxious and drunk. Â
Other than that though, the food was very meh. Â I got eggs benedict (because I always do) and it was pretty gross. Â Hubs got pancakes, which was better... but seriously, how do you screw up pancakes?
They didn't eggs-actly wash their dishes how I would have hoped, but once I got some clean utensils Eggsperience was ok.
The menu is pretty large with lots of breakfast and lunch items to choose from and the egg pun in the title is definitely appropriate. There's tons t of omelet, fritatta, benedict and scramble options so if you're worried about a steady diet of protein for your first meal it's a non issue here.
It gets busy during peak hours so if you're on your own or with a friend I'd recommend bypassing the line with counter seating. The service goes quick from there, but all checks are paid for at the front which kind of clogs up the entrance if you're trying to get in and out.
Overall it's a decent option for breakfast, but I wouldn't eggsactly eat here every morning.
Usually great coffee is an afterthought as most breakfast places, but not here. Love the coffee and the breakfast is great too. The pancakes and waffles are perfectly made: not to doughy, dry or over cooked. Decent bacon (not the really thin wimpy kind) and good tasting eggs. Portions are a good size too.
Review Source:I had a late breakfast here while in town for the Ryder Cup. Once I saw the pictures of this place we were both hooked! we are both foodies and loved this place.
The banana chocolate crapes were great. Came out just like the pictures. Very good and will not let you down. One tip it is very large portions and very sweet.
on my next trip i will be ordering the omelets. neither of us ordered them, but we wished we did. they were huge, the staff told us the bake them!
this is a good place and I will be back on my next trip!
Sure it was 3am. And yes I was drunk. But hey, so was my mom so if it's a double negative, according to math it becomes a positive!
This was a very interesting place to be this early and drunk in the morning... Especially because we were the last customers let in. As soon as we put our food order in the waiter came back to tell us that their computers had gone down so he would have to manually take a pressure scan of the credit card in order for us to pay.
Well I don't remember specifically what I got for food... I remember it was an omelet and that it came with salsa and sour cream. But I am positive that I asked for somethings to be substituted. I also remember that my mother had breakfast quesadilla. I much preferred hers if I am honest, but a drunk mans request for food isn't always the best creation.
I am sure that I will be back here next time I am in Chicago, but I will try to be less inebriated...
Wife and I had breakfast here before flying out. All I can say is WOW.
Good thing everyone on our flight hadn't eaten here, or the plane would never have been able to make it off the runway!!!
The egg white omelet that my wife ordered was huge! At least 8" long and 3" thick and loaded with veggies and cheese. It could easily feed 3 people. I had the corned beef hash scrambler that includes the hash, potatoes and cheese, topped with 2 eggs and it was great. Some of the best hash I have ever had. To top it off, the scrambler came with 2 small pancakes on the side.....just what I needed
Food and service was fabulous and their coffee is also great.!
Place Eggsperience on your "MUST EAT HERE" list while in Chicago
Ate there yesterday for breakfast. Â Place was packed, but we got right in and a table on Labor Day. Â Service was fast. Â Food was great. Â Prices typical River North.
I had some kind of scramble that had chorizo and jalapeños hash browns and some other ingredients I don't remember.  But it was very very good.  And too large--I left a bunch.  But it was so good--and it wasn't too spicy despite the aforementioned ingredients. Â
Definitely this is my breakfast place from now on, since the free breakfasts at the hotels are nothing more than a wade through a bunch of people/families stuffing their faces with free waffles.....place reminds me of my fav breakfast place in downtown Manhattan.
** 3.5 stars **
My friend and I came here for our last breakfast before heading back to Toronto (a few weeks back).
We arrived mid-morning and still got seating fairly quickly.
The place was big, service decent, and there was a decent variety of items on the menu.
Both of us ordered omelettes. Mine was an egg-white Mediterranean with pancakes. It was tasty - but the only thing normal-sized about my meal WERE the pancakes. Are you sure that was a three-egg(white) omelette? Or 13? It was bigger than my head, and I don't think I even ate half of it - I actually felt bad about not finishing it.
Overall, a decent place. I'd just consider splitting meals with friends, if you're going to order.
Decent breakfast place in the downtown area.
We stayed at the Marriott on Grand and walked over.
I think we lucked out when we got there around 9, it started to get pretty busy.
The place has a breakfast diner feel, kinda like a Cora's...very clean looking, big windows making the place quite bright looking out towards the street. Open kitchen area you can see from the dining area.
I had the blueberry pancakes, which were quite big and thick!
Asked for crispy bacon, did not get crispy bacon, ugh.
but a good amount of food for sure!
My Dad had the Eggs Benedict, which he is always afraid of because he got super sick once from the sauce. He enjoyed it though, and they leave the coffee pot at the table, it is nice not to have to ask for refills all the time on those small coffee cups that diners have.
Service was fast though, the moved tables pretty quickly.
Our food came pretty quickly, and we were definitely in and out within an hour.
Seems like a popular spot on the weekend. Would come back for sure when in Chicago!
Holy pancake!
Yes, this is the place for light-as-air, albeit huge, portions of the delictable breakfast treat. Â I really enjoyed my breakfast as a whole, but it can definitely become overwhelming with their titantic-sized portions (I recommend splitting meals, especially the pancakes or waffles). Â The ambiance is consists mostly of tourists, but Eggsperience is definitely not a tourist trap- great quality food at fantastic prices. Â While the dining area is large, expect to wait at least 30 minutes for a table, which can be longer on weekends. Â The service was very prompt and fast, and I'd definitely return.
I heard about this place while taking a tour of the city. The other reviews looked good, so I thought I would check it out.
Our waitress (I wish I could remember her name) was great and attentive. The food came out and everything tasted alright. It was good, but nothing that I would rave about or tell all of my friends that they HAD to go there.
The first bad thing that happened was the noticing of a LARGE bug on the table, crawling around halfway through the meal. It was pretty bad, and my partner and I immediately lost our appetite. We didnt even eat half of our meal. When calling the attention of the bug to the waitress, she was mortified. He had one of the busboys come to get it.
We werent going to make a huge fuss, but the manager came by our table and asked how everything was. We told him about what happened and that we wereny hungry anymore. He didnt seem mortified or apologetic at all. He just asked us if the bug was on the plate or the table. When we said it was on the table, he shrugged it off and thought that it should have been OK. (Note we were sitting inside, not outside).
On top of all of this, the couple behind us was making a stink because they had food that came out raw (sausage) and one other thing happened that I cant rememebr what. The manager offered to give them more food that they took home, and he comped their meal completely. I thought that was a good thing for a manager to do. Yet, when our bill came, we got a 10% discount. Now the other table that took EXTRA food HOME got a free meal and we had a 10% discount when we didnt even eat half of it? Are you freaking kidding me?
The food here isnt THAT great, and the management is worse. Dont bother with this place.
Massive portions. Â Massive. Â Went for breakfast and was full through dinner. Â The decor is a little too modern for what is essentially a greek diner. Â
The egg scramble with sausage and cheese and the butcher's benedict is what we filled up on. Â The shredded hashbrowns were actually our favorite part of the meal. Â The bacon pork and ham on the butcher's bene was just a little too much of a meatapolooza so early in the morning. Â
The fresh oj is fresh as fresh can be! Â The pitcher of water on the table is great so you can rehydrate after a night out. Â
Worth it if you are in the area
Was out for a walk one afternoon and just happen to find Eggsperience. Â So the next morning my wife, daughter and myself decided to stop in and try it out since our breakfast in the hotel the past couple mornings were dreadful. Â
We were seated very very quickly and the waitress took our drink order. Â They leave the coffee pot at the table which I find brilliant and they also leave a pitcher of water which my wife loved. Â The food portions were huge, the bacon in which I'm very picky about was cooked just how I like it, crispy. Â My daughter got the Mickey Mouse pancakes in which they made Mickey's face out of pancakes and my daughter didn't want to eat them. Â She didn't want to eat Mickey, we had to convince her it wouldn't hurt him to get her to eat them which was hilarious. Â The waitress was great she and my daughter were talking back and fourth and my daughter is usually very shy to people she just meets. Â
Next time I'm in Chicago I will be going back to Eggsperience.
Chicago has its breakfast game down pat. Eggsperience was up the block from my hotel. I was only there once, because I was there for a conference and had to follow my group.
The omelets are monstrous here. Someone else at the table had it, I wish I ordered it. It was the size of an NFL football, no joke. I cant complain about my breakfast eggs -over easy. I feel like im eating an egg ravioli at breakfast. The hash was good as well - and I got a good amount of bacon with my order.
THE GOOD: Â Their fluffy, airy, whipped-into-panty-creaming-submission egg-white omelette---Packed with fresh, whole spinach leaves and a hint of tangy Cheddar (upon my request) I relished every billowy morsel (of 1/3rd of a portion) they laid before me on a galactic plate I'm certain was forged in the fires of Area 51. Â Great cup of organic joe, fresh cream and an icy pitcher of water with a lemon slice set my meal off nicely. Â Lively decor and cleanliness were a bonus in this establishment.
THE BAD: Â Despite it wasn't crowded, food was slow coming out. They don't offer flavored creamers as many of the local Ma and Pa joints in my neighborhood do. On the pricey end with their extras. I noticed a side of bacon was nearly 5 bucks. Hell, I can fry up an entire slab for that!
THE UGLY: Â Obnoxious cretins in the booth next to me. Yes, .please tell me more about how your fried-egg centers look like nipples; Whose nipples, I haven't a clue, but I certainly am delighted they aren't mine. *shudders* The image kinda hideously lingers momentarily, doesn't it? Â My waiter took damn near an eternity to fetch my check, looked horribly depressed and mumbled incessantly.
SUMMATION: I would not TRAVEL to dine here again, but in the future, if I'm ever near another one of their restaurant locations, I'd stop in to get my puffy-egg-white perfection on without hesitation. Additionally, I promise to never again to use a classic, badass Eastwood film as a cliche' Yelp review outline.
Recommended by our hotel for a good breakfast so we went in for brunch on a weekday, around 11 am. There was no wait to be seated and we got served immediately. They leave you with a jug of water and a pot of coffee so you don't have to keep flagging down the waitress for refills.
We ate the eggs Benedict with bacon $10.50 ( replaced Canadian bacon with regular bacon) and the egg white omelette $12. The omelette portion is huge so you could plan to share. The eggs Benedict was just enough with hash browns on the side.
Overall, good experience, fast service and the restaurant ambiance is fresh, airy and nice to be in.
Excellent breakfast place. Â Went here multiple times during my stay in Chicago and absolutely loved it each time.
I'll confess that I was first taken here by some friends I was traveling with. Â They had been before our collective experience and they loved it. Â So, we all went together and our breakfast was incredible, service excellent and prices extremely reasonable. Â
After my first time here with my friends, I continued to return to this place on my own for breakfast. Â Each time, I had the same experience as my first time - awesome service, delicious food, reasonable prices. Â On the other hand, my friends went back as well (on their own) and their experience (which they revealed to me later) was horrible. Â I am puzzled by that given how outstanding my multiple experiences were. Â Nonetheless, I offer it here for what it's worth.
Again, I love this place and will return each time I am in this area. Â One thing I would recommend is the steak and eggs special. Â The steak is a churrasco steak and is absolutely delicious. Â The eggs were cooked perfectly as I ordered and, as a bodybuilder, I tend to eat a lot of eggs and the kitchen was willing to make as many eggs as I could eat for a nominal charge.
My server was always nearby and continually filling my coffee, water, asking if I needed anything and always on the spot when needed (and not around when not needed). Â She was amazing.
Highly recommend this place, particularly over many of the breakfast places in the area.
My posse of four came here after a strong endorsement from the Marriott valets. I was rather skeptical of a place that was so obviously a Dad pun, but once the meal was complete, I asked forgiveness from the Eggsperience gods for doubting.
Let me just run through everything that made the experience so good: we were seated within 15 minutes despite my Spidey sense telling me that we were in for a 30-minute wait; our waitress was humorous and helpful; organic orange juice tastes like someone is personally squeezing fresh oranges into your mouth; and, omelettes, pancakes, or just plain ol' eggs make for an excellent (and HUGE) breakfast.
You might balk at the prices because they're definitely higher than your everyday diner. Totally worth it. I can't wait to come back to Chicago to have it again.
Protip: Get a carafe of the orange juice. I don't really even like orange juice but this was the stuff of dreams. And, if you are into portion control, I would order on omelette for two people. There is plenty of food to split and you save money.
Stupid name. Eggsperience.
Just imagine Jimi Hendrix, the best guitar player in the world singing have you every been Eggsperienced? That was dumb. My absolute favorite place to eat breakfast in all of Chicago.
1. Unbelievable quick service
2. A kitchen that is so quit and competent you'll be amazed
3. Great coffee (organic be nice to farmer coffee) They leave a pot on your tabel and it isn't the the leftover swill from the last customer.
4. Since when did breakfast start costing $20 in Chicago? Not here.
5. Not cheap, but great value
6. Fresh fruit year 'round
7. Drum roll.........the finest damn pancakes in this history of the world with real softened butter. A nicely done French crepe is trash in comparison.
8. Tell 'em to skip the powder sugar sprinkle on top of the pancakes, it only ruins the full view of the artwork
9. Stop by and thank the kitchen, those cooks remember people and reward gratitude
10. Avoid weekends at 2-5 a.m. packed with drunks and laggards
I don't give 5 stars. It's not good for quality. Like Avis, it keeps them trying harder. However, you CANNOT deny a high 5 when everything is right 9 out of 10 times.
If you hate pancakes, you won't anymore. Oh yeah, available in whole wheat. Never felt the need to try something I knew would come up short in comparison.
Summary:
1. The least inspired name of a restaurant I've ever known.
2. The best breakfast in Chicago.
Over and out.
There are few excellent breakfast/brunch places in the West Ontario area +/- 1.5 miles. But, Eggsperience is truly a hidden gem. A comfortable, well lit and clean environment welcomes you to a restaurant that has a well laid out menu and fair price points. Portions are on the larger side (especially the baked omelette), but easy to finish. I enjoyed the egg scramblers accompanied with fruit, toast and two small whole wheat pancakes. The food was solid. The coffee service was excellent and most of all the waiters were extremely kind and generous.
I recommend you try Eggsperience should you be in the area.
Good luck!
P.S. If I had one recommendation, they should consider providing free WiFi service. It would be great to read the newspaper online while enjoying a delicious breakfast.
