mgmt sucks, the dude has a chip on his shoulder, hethinks he's gods gift the eb. lossen up &  say hi to your supporters, jus not to me, since u will not see me there anmore, we had a rip off coupon to get us in there. the food is copy cat of asian foods that won't ever come close to autenthic stuff, not insulting latins, but they cook it, but would they even know if they screwed up? any way our main beef is we don't know if the waiter is screwing us or eb corporate, we went in b/c of the 2 fer 20 coupon offered in sunday ads. we get this little portions that the waiter said it's part of the lunch menu, even with coupon, that's misleading cause it's actually a lunch portion & should not be offered unless it states its a lunch portion, because we were there to use the coupon, someone made up the story of they ran out of the desert they were offering which  was apple cobbler w/ nuts & blueberries. so the mgr got involved & offered us the chepo(someone got sick earing it) cream brulee, came out 1/2 torched & 1/2 on the light side, come on these guys flame these things day in day out & apparently, as you can see they screwed it up, on top of that they screwed up the bill, overcharging us & charging us for a cream brulee, which was suppose to be inncluded! warning watch these peeps & check your bill!  one mor thing those page alert coasters are hella dirty, they should wipe them down with something strong once  every 4 hours instead of standing around doing nothing. mgmt fo you, those things are nasty!
Review Source:I used to like this place .. Even though I only checked in once, I have been here over 10 times .. Since the last time (4/16/2013), I haven't been back since ..
That was our son's 9th Birthday and we were not able to make it to our regular celebration spot, The Crab House in the San Francisco Fisherman's wharf.
From the start, things were wrong .. We were assigned a server who went on lunch break right after getting drinks, waited 30 minutes before ordering our food while another server assisted after waiving a server down, then food arrived, needed catch up for kids (waited another 10 minutes), order another lemonade (waited another 20 minutes), asked a server (since we were unable to find server # 1 and server # 2) to see when we are going to get an order of mac and cheese that we ordered an hour ago (another 10 minutes passed, still no news), told another server (still don't know where server # 1, Server # 2, server # 3 are) about the mac and cheese (he actually came back with mac and cheese 5 minutes later), informed her that we were celebrating our son's 9th birthday and to add a cake to our bill and to bring a candle for him to make a wish ... 10 minutes later, she came back with the cake but no candle .. WTF
WTF is wrong with this place .. we were not the only tables that had the same problem .. two other tables were affected as well .. we were all looking at each other and asking each other, did you get your orders? WOW
When I asked for the bill, it was very quick .. I was hoping to wait another 20 minutes or so until they forgot whether we paid or not ..
What did I do? Paid the exact bill with $ 0 tip explaining why to the manager at the back of the receipt.
Will we ever go back? NOT A CHANCE ..
So after breaking my HH (happy hour) virginity with my sweetie Pam, I decided we needed another one!! And behold Pam suggested this spot *I didn't even know they had HH, such a noob!!*
*HH starts at 3pm folks and you must be seated in the bar area*
Upon walking in we were greeted by their hostess and went straight into the bar area. *Thanks again Pammy*
Very cozy, ac on full blast which made it a little chilly but after a drink or two I started seeing why the ac was on full blast!! They had so many items on the menu from drinks, appetizers, entrees and desserts! I decided to have something small since OTG (Off The Grid) was getting ready to start at 5pm and I definitely wanted to save room for some food trucks!!
Elephant Bar also has nice HH deals; a lunch item with a drink for less than $10 which is a win in my books so I decided on the Korean Beef Tacos which came with a House Marguarita.
Upon waiting for our food I decided on having a drink before hand and chose their Raspberry Lemon Drop. When it arrived to my table, I was a little unsatisfied. The drink itself didn't lack any alcoholic taste, I could taste the Vodka, but the drink wasn't even filled to my rim!! *Now I understand this is HH folks, half prices off drinks but does that also mean half a drink as well? I posted my photo for all to gawk at. And YES folks the photo was taken before I even took a sip :(
However the Korean Beef Tacos definitely made up for the missing drink. *Delicious tender pieces of beef, sweet and satisfying. Together with veggies, pieces of mango and a salsa dip, it was undeniably tasty!!*
The House Marguarita that came with my order also help make up for the loss of my Lemon Drop. It was a little sour but definitely filled with alcohol! *I was buzzing after the first couple of sips!*
It was definitely once again another happy hour or hours I should really say. With the BEST waitresses (sweet and attentive), delicious food and fantastic drinks!!
My service here was good. My particular server was very attentive. As for the food, it is nothing special. I built my own burger, and it was definitely filling for me. I liked the burger with focaccia bread, but other than that, it wasn't anything special. My sister had the Wooden Tri-Tip, but the string beans were hard, the tri-tip was overcooked (when she ordered medium-rare), and the mash potatoes were nothing special. We only came because our mother likes their salads, but other than that I wouldn't choose to come here if I didn't have to.
Review Source:I'm not sure exactly what kind of food elephant bar specializes in because it's all over the place. Â They have Chinese, Japanese, American and god knows what. Â I swear that you can literally go to trader joes and find something really similar and throw it in the microwave. Â I only come here when it's either happy hours (just the drinks) or when they have the buy one get one free coupon. Â The happy our food is disgusting. Â It's so bad that I swear I had to force myself to swallow some of the appetizers. Â Two disgusting appetizers that come to mine are the sushi (probably not made by a Japanese person) and their lettuce wraps (probably not made from a chinese person). Â I haven't been back to elephant bar in a couple months, and it's been even longer since I've had those disgusting appetizers. Â I think I ordered the appetizers in September of 2011. Â Yep, they were so bad that I still remember them. Two ways to save money at elephant bar are by buying the giftcards at costco (20% off) and by waiting for the special coupons which is usually buy one get one free. Â Try to avoid this place if possible.
Review Source:The hostess and server were so nice and professional. Â Just want to say how wonderful they were, with a smile! Â I usually get my lamb shank, one. Â Comes with mashed potatoes and assorted fresh veggies. Â Really enjoyed the food. Â The background music was a bit loud for me, but my table mates didn't even hear it. Â Just shows, we all don't hear everything.
Review Source:Elephant Bar is always hit or miss i think, some times i go and the foods great other times i go and it's just a huge waste of money. The last time i went the food was great, the calamari with the garnish was delicious. The garnish of marinated veggies really complemented the calamari and tasted very fresh. We also got the Philly cheese steak and The jalapeno burger which were just fine. Service was good and we didn't have to wait long at all. I hear they have a great happy hour, haven't gone but probably will in the near future!
Review Source:So the stars are for the service and the food taste which were both great. Unfortunately, two of us ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna Salad and both of us ended up very ill within the hour. I did call the restaurant to alert them of this and they said they would check their stock (which is why I called). I didn't ask for a refund or anything, I really just wanted them to know what happened because hey, this sh** sucks (There goes your imagination) I won't get into any more personal details , but let's just say 4 hours later and I am still having issues. Ugh...
Review Source:Came in here because my lovely sister gave me a gift card for my birthday last year. Only decided to go 2 days ago. The wait is pretty long but they have tons of seating to wait. However we went to the bathroom and saw tons of tables open. Not sure how restaurants work but there was a lot f people waiting. I was glad that I wasn't starving.
We were seated 30 minutes later. I didn't catch the gals name, but she was blonde, had a pony tail and glasses. It was really busy but SURPRISINGLY she actually found time to consistently check up on us AND we were seated next to a really big party.
I ordered the half rack with sweet potatoes (worth the extra penny), my bf ordered the combo with brown rice and subbed the coleslaw for Mac and had a skewer of 4 shrimp. For apps we had the calamari.
The calamari was sooooo yum!!! It was crispy and juicy. I usually like the marinara sauce but this time the orange sauce won it over. We saved it for our entrees.
The racks were sooooo delicious and melted of the bone. We didn't have to use knives and it wasn't salty!!! The sauce was super good too.
The sweet potatoes were deli too but they are deep fried. If I had a choice id has them baked. What's the point of trying to choose healthy if its drenched in oil? I didn't mind much since its a treat to eat out fancy.
The Mac pasta was really soft and mushy. The only thing that was bad that night.
Cole slaw was okay but I didn't eat and of it. I really should of subbed that too.
The beans were super good. They weren't mushy and it had a bit of cheese on top.
The chicken was dry. Actually that was also and other thing that didn't taste right.
The shrimp was good And used the sauce from the calamari for it. And saved some of the lemon and used it too.
Overall really good dinner. I'd say come once for the experience. I wouldn't go again unless it was a celebration.
I came here for my Brother's birthday a while back and just thought about writing a review now. I ordered the "Chicken Marsala sauce over mashed potatoes with spinach" It was very delicious! The mashed potatoes tasted fresh, the spinach was boiled perfectly, and the chicken was very tender! Do not order the creme brulee for dessert, though. It made me feel sick after a while and I didn't finish it. I think the portion of it was too much.
Review Source:Cool bar but the food here is garbage. This is the type of place where you do not order the seafood. Won't even bother getting into what we ordered, everything was bad. In addition, there were three of us with three different entrees and the server messed up something on every one.
Places that specialize in nothing are usually bad at everything. I am pretty confident that everything we ate here was frozen at one time. Like I said though, the bar area was cool - good place to watch a game
We tried the red and white sangrias, and unfortunately both were extremely watery with barely any taste of alcohol, so I'd recommend trying something other than those two. The sweet potato fries were good, but nothing out of the ordinary. The "E cookie" is a rip off of the Pizookie at BJs and quite frankly, a bad rip off.
Review Source:Ugg I got indigestion from this place. I ordered a half-rack of the baby back ribs. My roommate ordered the Mongolian beef but he seemed to be ok. I will say the calamari appetizer is pretty good. The main dishes came out of the kitchen looking messy and slapped onto the plate. The wait staff are friendly enough. Unfortunately my unsettled stomach means I won't be going back.
Review Source:Really bad service, I called at 6:00pm  for a reservation for 8 people at 7:30pm We arrived there at 7:20pm and when I talked to the guys in there they told me that I wasn't in the reservation list? Really? So I told them that how could that be possible if I called and showed them that I actually called. So they told us to wait 30min to get a table for 8 people than we waited for almost 50min and still without a table for us.. So we decided to leave and I guarantee that will be our last time eating at the Elephant Bar Restaurant..
Review Source:Let's be honest with ourselves here, nobody prefers going to chains; especially in the bay area where we are all so small business friendly with an abundance of great foods.
Ill give elephant bar a pass for a few reasons:
1) Its hard to beat their happy hour prices (HH is from 3-7 daily and reverse HH from 9pm - cl)
2) The service is consistent. Is that bad or good? Depends.
3) The food isn't bad.
I typically swing by this EB to meet friends for happy hour after work as a lot of them work in san mateo and I am coming from SF... it's a safe middle ground.
Although we always sit in the bar area, the hostess' and waitstaff are always pleasant, attentive and accommodating.
The last time I went I had the buffalo tenders on the HH menu (for safe measure, 7-8 chicken pieces with buffalo sauce) and it was huge. For $5. We also shared the lettuce wraps for about the same price. In retrospect, this is fast food prices for a guaranteed good time... even more so with a game on the screen.
HH food is as followed:
$3.50
Bowl of Steamed Edamame
Creamy Macaroni and Cheese
Sweet Potato Fries
$4.50
Hand Breaded Buffalo Chicken Tenders
Warm and Spicy Artichoke Dip
Baja Chicken Quesadilla

$5.50
Wok-Fired Chicken Lettuce Wraps
Classic "Big E" Burger and French Fries
NEW Parmesan Crusted Green Beans
$6.50
Quick-Fried Soy-Ginger Calamari
Tempura Salmon Roll

Happy Hour Drinks:

$4.00

Sangria Rojo or Sangria Blanco
Craft Regular Size Draft Beer
Domestic Tall Size Draft Beer
$5.00
Ivory Coast Margarita with Jose Cuervo Tequila
SKYY Vodka Raspberry Lemon Drop Martini
Craft Tall Size Draft Beer
$6.00
Long Island Iced Tea
WINES
$1 off By The Glass $3 off By The Bottle
All in all, it's a very consistent good time with more than reasonable prices.
Tip:
on game days, GET THERE EARLY!
I normally don't write review for food chains, however I looove the happy hour here. So why only 3 stars?
**** happy hour
** dinner
My friend and I got mojitios (pretty strong), flat bread, coconut shrimp, and my FAVORITE: lettuce wraps. Omg they are to die for! Â Everything came out to be $22. Seriously, not bad. Watched the game at the same time. Service was prompt. Can't really complain. Would totally come by since I live so close and it's so inexpensive. They have such a wide variety of appetizers that are half off, totally worth it!
I've been to Elephant Bar many times. Â The taste and amount of the foods are inconsistent. Â Someday you see the dish is full and someday even the fries don't taste like fries. Â
I ordered Pacific Cove Tropical Crab and Shrimp Louie on this trip. Â The shrimps looked like from a can. Â The size of the shrimp is as small as a dime and they even sliced it in half. Â I don't know for a salad that is $14.25, I would be expecting it to be better. Â
It is very disappointing that most of the restaurants are inconsistent with the serving size and taste of their foods.
We've been coming here quite often whenever we find a coupon in the mail or we have a GC from Costco (yes we are cheap). Â Food is pretty good and the portions are still big. Â On my birthday, I decided to have a steak and prawn special (you are only old one day a year right? Might as well splurge). Â The steak was amazing. Â Really tender and juicy.
We've had big family dinners here and we've always had a good time. Â Sometimes you do get a scattered server who is intimidated by our sheer numbers but otherwise service is good.
One family member's birthday falls in the end of May. Â Really a bad time considering graduation parties and prom dinners. Â In the past, I tried securing a reservation 2 weeks in advance only to be shot down because they were booked solid (notice if you are a small party it's ok but if you are talking more than 10 there's a chance they will say no). Â One year we took a chance and waited for a table only to wait close to 2 hours!
Anyway, the good thing is that you can book waaay in advance. Â This year I booked the May birthday dinner a month in advance and got a table without any problems! Â So there's a tip for those who have birthdays that fall under major holidays and events.
So close to where I live so I frequent this place a lot. I've enjoyed every single meal I've had here. Service is always good and food is reasonably priced. Love that it's connected to the mall. I always walk around and shop after a full meal here. Totes convenient.
I will always come back.
Ps. I recommend the mud pie for dessert. Bombdotcom
We come to Elephant Bar regularly and we are usually satisfied... The food is always tasty and the drinks are usually good. Last night however, our drinks took a while to arrive and the Margarita was basically a "lime-aid" with mint. We asked for a replacement but eventually had to cancel the drink altogether because we had already finished our dinner. Not the best experience, but like I said usually we are happy to eat here and will most likely come back.
My dish, the Mongolian Beef was really good and fairly spicy, even for my taste buds, and I like the spiciest food on the planet!
Overall Elephant Bar is good because of the Happy Hour and the bar is a pleasant place to unwind with a drink. My only real gripe is that sometimes especially weekends the restaurant section gets very busy. If you come during the week, the service is always very fast and it takes almost no time to get seated and served.
I was impressed with our server, I just wanted to add that she waited at the bar for a while for our drinks, so it wasn't her fault. She was also very friendly and always had a smile despite the place being very busy.
We came here on Easter Sunday in the early afternoon. Probably a 10 minute wait. The greeters were very kind and respectful. The food is decent, nothing that says WOW, but we did leave with a satisfied feeling.
My girlfriend ordered the Louie Salad, which was mediocre at best considering the price of it. I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich, which was just okay and came with too little fries. The kids on the other hand ordered Chicken Teriyaki Bowl from the kid's menu and surprisingly it was quite good! Also, the lemonade was quite generic tasting as well.
Overall, I would come back. but not in a heartbeat! The only thing that really made a difference was the outstanding service!
The food here is so bland, we came in a party of 17 and not one person liked what they ordered. Â The non alcholic drinks were watered down and the cocktails were mediocre at best. Â Ebar needs to learn how to use salt! Â Everytime I go to EBar I am disappointed, so I only go when friends want to and can't be talked out of it. Â The food sucks, and if you are going there to drink, stick to shots.
Review Source:For the restaurant, Â its usually packed on a weekend afternoon, but at nighttime, it gets slightly packed. Service is slow but there trying there best to get the orders.
The food is excellent, the best one they have is the orange chicken. Â Much better than panda express.
Plus happy hour every night after 9pm until closing is much better.
Recommend just go to the bar area, it's much quicker.
This place was packed in the night of a Sunday, so we waited for a while before getting a seat. I have been here couple times before, but this is way more packed than before, so I naturally thought it gained more popularity because the food was getting even better.
Christ, I could not have been more wrong on this. Before the food was good, not particularly good, but decent enough to eat. Last night however, the food was so terrible and salty that I almost felt like I was eating sauce. The food was overcooked and not refresh in my opinion as well. The only good thing about this place was that the customer service was as good as ever.
Now I don't know about you, but there is no way I will ever spend $60 for 2 people on crappy food like this, not to mention how unhealthy it is. If I am going to indulge myself with high-calorie and high-carbohydrate food like this, then I had better choose really tasty food to make it worthwhile, or else I am shortening my life in addition to paying for expensive food.
Came here with some friends about 20 min before happy hour.
We were greeted and allowed to seat ourselves at the bar area in a booth, our server was friendly, forgot her name, but she didn't make us feel rushed even though we explained we were waiting for Happy Hour to start, we got our drink orders in and were checked up on just enough times that we never needed to flag her down for anything.
Food was great, service was excellent.
This place has a fairly nice ambiance for a "chain" restaurant. Service was pretty competent during my visit here this past Saturday evening, albeit the guy was a bit slow in coming back with something you asked for (but at least I'll give him credit for not completely forgetting, especially since it appears he had a trainee following him).
I ordered their French onion soup as an appetizer. Â I enjoyed the cheese layer but otherwise is it my imagination or does the soup taste a lot like that from the Campbell cans that I stocked up and cook at home? Â I need to test it at more places to get a better judgment. Â The steak that I ordered was okay, nothing special. Â I did enjoy the lobster, especially with the butter sauce it came with.
DO NOT COME HERE OVER THE WEEKEND unless you want to wait for 45 mins+ and get crappy service.
We came on a Sunday evening and the place was packed. Â The nice lady gave us a buzzer and 45 mins later we got our table near the side door to the mall. Â It took another 5 mins for our server to show up and drop off some menus. Â Literally dropped it off and went away.
I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and spinach dip chips. Â The food came out and the server did not ask if I would like any else such as condiments and napkins. Â I then requested some ketchup from a server passerby and some napkins. Â I guess there are no utensils and napkin when you order finger foods. Â When she came back it was some napkins that look like it came from the bathroom and 2 empty bottles of ketchup. Â What am I going to do with 2 empty bottles of ketchup? She had the nerve to ask me in a condescending tone "Anything else *rolls eyes*?" Â It is true unfortunately that one server can ruin your meal.
Quick Tip: Get a seat/table by the bar side with better customer service. Â It's first come, first serve. Â Don't expect to have a chair at the bar side when there is a game on since people like to hog the table and watch the entire game. Â Also, although you see customers finishing their meal, expect another 15 mins + for them to leave.
Came here for my mom's birthday dinner. Did not know what to expect from this place because honestly I have never noticed Elephant Bar in Serramonte before.
When we first walked in I was a little intimidated. There were so many people waiting for tables! We found out the wait time for a table for five was 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, we were shown to our table where the hostess gave us  our menus and the specials menu. Five or so minutes later, our server came and asked us if we wanted some drinks and appetizers. My sisters got the strawberry lemonade, my mom got the strawberry something freeze, and I got the raspberry acai collins. I loved my drink! It was so good. Could not taste a lot of alcohol which I like. We got our Global Sampler ($14.25) and our Garlic bread with tomato basil sauce ($3.95). The appetizers were good but because the sampler was full of fried food, I was a little grease heavy heading into the entrees. The garlic bread was good and the tomato basil marinara was alright. I just would have liked the bread to have been more crisp and hard than the soggy state that we got them in.
Our entrees came around five to 10 minutes after getting our appetizers. I ordered the Santa Barbara burger with cole slaw ($8.95) and was not amazed whatsoever. I chose this solely on the description of avocados because I love avocados but I made the wrong choice. I should've made the better choice and ordered the Market Cobb Salad instead! The cole slaw was heavily dressed with mayonnaise. I enjoyed the slaw but wish it had less mayo in it... The burger was nothing special, it was gobbled up fairly quickly for a half pounder. The only other dish that I tried was my sister's Chicken Marsala ($12.95) and was glad I didn't order something like this. The dish came with mashed potatoes and gravy, but they  were a little salty for my palette (I was a little glad that I went safe with a burger compared to this for $13, still wish I tried the salad though).
At the end of our meal we got our check, and I asked the waiter if they had any birthday specials. He told us that you can get a sundae for your birthday and so we got the sundae for our mom. The sundae...our he should've said a scoop of ice cream on a fried wonton wrapper, came and I laughed on the inside. It was a cute little ice cream dish with some oreos on top with a cherry. Easily eaten up within a minute. Not saying it was bad but what a dinky birthday sundae.
I would say that if you're looking for an expensive place to eat you can come here but I would rather go somewhere more affordable and reasonable. I don't think I will be coming back unless I get a gift card for this place. C+/B in my opinion.
I go there for happy hour with my cousin, food is MEH and could be better but something keeps drawing me back - maybe it's the excellent customer service i receive from Amanda my bartender. I stopped going to elephant for a while because of the bad service and sucky food - but now i just know to order edamame and ask for amanda at the bar and i'll be alright.
My original rating was going to be 3 stars but amanda rocks for 1 star for her!
The bar itself is loaded whether its happy hour or not so happy hour. Â If only they would start carrying some asian labels...not the tsing tao crap. But something like Sake and Soju that would be an appreciated upgrade.
The server for my table for 9 was more than accommodating to us all. Everything came out pretty much on time and the appetizers were very addicting. Especially the chips and dip with the global sampler.
However whoever cooked the half rack ribs did a half ass job. Not to the point of eww, bit enough that you could tell some chunks were either not evenly grilled or he was rushed for some other reason. But it was definitely bearable.
Overall. A total bill of 198 + change from the bar is one way to end on a high note when your around the perfect group of friends. Everything worked out thanks to them and our server Grati!.
I am a gluten-free person, not by choice or because it's the trendy thing to do.
Needless to say it's often difficult to navigate at restaurants to get something tasty and gluten free. However our server was very understanding and was quick to think on his toes.
I ordered the smokehouse sandwich without bread and the presentation was also perfect. Also the server asked me if  would like something other than french fries so that I wouldn't have any cross contamination since they use the same oil to fry gluten items.
Another example was that we ordered the tomato and mozzarella appetizer which normally comes with pita chips, however the server was awesome and brought us lettuce cups instead.
Thanks elephant bar you rock!!!
Food - Average - above average
Service - What ruined my experience.
Upon being seating, our waitress came every minute for three times. I got pretty annoyed. We just sat down and this menu is like 10+ pages. What's more was that it took her 15 minutes to come back after we figured out our meal. While ordering I asked for a medium burger and she repeated, "well done." Â I responded, "no... medium please" and she repeats back, "medium well." Â Okay.. seriously.
To top things off, I also asked for no.onions, when the food came she simply said, "how did that happen." Hmmm, I don't even want to go there. She also took our food, without asking if were finished. Then, we had to flag her for the check. At most restaurants, the wait staff is separated per section, obviously she had too many tables or not enough training. Management needs to step it up here.
Now you may be thinking, do I have an ascent? No, my job is to speak with clients all day, in fact many c-level executives on a daily basis. I hate to give bad reviews, but Elephant Bar was a miss for me on several occasions.
P.S. The salad could not be eaten by a fork, but rather a spoon. Please stop cutting them so thin.
Fused American dishes. Â Not the best modern American entrees I have tried, but it's still good. Â
Their portions are huge. Â Talking about people getting obese in America these days! Â It is because American portions being served can feed 2 people!! Â The calorie intake for each entree averages above 800+...YIKES...
Their chicken was too dry for my liking, but do get their Jambalaya and Lamb Shanks for entrees! Â For opening appetizer, Seared Tuna! Â

Most of the dishes were average to me, but I like how they can accommodate a large party. Â
It's one of those restaurants that are convenient to go to when you want to seat a big group.
