I came here for a friend's birthday....got there pretty late around 1am and there was no line and I can see why - cover at that time was $20 and you have to check your coat which was an additional $10!!! Â I wanted to walk out right then and there but it was my friend's bday....that is absolutely ridiculous! Â Then as I was leaving around 230am - cover was upped to $25! Â Who in their right mind ups the cover charge at that time....crazy!
Anyway, once I got inside - the place wasn't packed but ok where you had room to dance. To me, the music was ehhh ok. Â The DJ's for some reason really thought they were mixing it up great but I've definitely heard better.
From the moment I stepped foot into this place....I was not fond of it but made the best of it. Â I'll never go back EVER again....soooo not worth it!
I can see from the other reviews, I'm not the only one that feels this way. Â Stay clear if you can...trust me!
As a former club head, I'm disappointed that this is what I had to endure on a Saturday night.
A friend invited me out to a birthday VIP at this location, we got there at a pretty decent time a few minutes before midnight. Since when do VIPs have to wait on a line while non-VIPs get to go in before us? They have a full big metal detector, which all expensive clubs seem to be importing now. At the booth where you buy your ticket, which was a whooping $20 (unheard of, for VIP guests, horrible), there was also a coat check. The ticket girl dares to tell me that I have to leave my jacket at the coat check, hey ticket girl it's an accessory to my outfit not outerwear. She then said that I wouldn't be able to get past the door with my jacket on, ha little girl, I just kept my head high and chin up and walked right in with no one to dare stop me.
I've never walked into a club at midnight and it looked like it was just opening, DJ seem to still be setting up, the hype wasn't on, the crowd was small. The birthday VIP were told that the VIP booths on the upper floors that they had booked were now reserved for the VIP of the guest DJ, now they would have to settle with the small standing tables by the bar. That was harsh, luckily it wasn't my birthday or I wouldn't have let them take advantage of me like that. This place looks like a large strip club, poles and mirrors all over the place, the only thing missing were the strippers (they did have almost naked ladies dancing on the bar for tips). As we walked to the "VIP table" the DJ's set was having problems and skipping beats so he had to shut down for a few minutes and restart all his programs before hitting up the tracks again.
The bottles were only $100, which is pretty cheap but their hookah was $30. The hookah server seemed pretty friend and got us a pretty good hookah in no time, he told us he would hook us up with the coal. Later in the night when we needed to change, we asked other servers but were given issues. One of the servers wanted us to pay $15 for a whole new head. But to our rescue came our friend's VIP group who got us drinks and more hookahs. If it wasn't for the people we were with, the whole night would have been a bust. Speaking of a bust, within a half an hour of being here, everything was interrupted by a police raid! Never have I been in a police raid, I thought those things were only for movies and sitcoms. The police walked around and asked random groups for ID, surprisingly they didn't ask me, most likely because I had a "I'll give you a piece of my mind" face on. After another half an hour of enduring more for this place they finally finished up their raid and went along their merry way.
Everyone in here seemed to already be in mini groups and were with their own VIPs all over the place, there's no real dance floor so people just danced around their "VIP tables". The DJ's of this club, who were supposed to be the highlight of the night, just plain full out suck. They were repeating tracks about every 10 minutes. Come on guys, get a bit creative.
Things started getting hype with people dancing and the place filling up about 2am. This wannabe spot is the definition of lame.
I won't complain about drink prices because they're as expected! Â Had an appetizer from here once, chicken quesadillas and they were in a word, atrocious, okay maybe I'm being a little harsh, but I really love quesadillas, and the quesadillas here were not enjoyable! The amaretto sours on the other hand, were delicious!
Bartenders are attentive and fast. Â This pretty, petite bartender was very nice to help me decide on a drink (the night was dead so she didn't have any other customers to attend to) that would help me through the quesadillas, lol. The bouncers are cool so they make you feel comfortable. Â Overall, staff is really nice and a nice staff is hard to find at clubs.
When I went a few weeks back there was a dance floor, last night however, the dance floor was crowded with tables that were "VIP sections." My friend spent $300 on a birthday package to stand around a tiny table. I know one place I won't be reserving a package at. Â
The music ranged from old school to contemporary hip hop, house, Latin, it was a mix of everything. The sound system is decent.
HOWEVER, I don't like paying $25 at the door and having the music shut down for what felt like hours because the police and fire department are inspecting, it really put a stop to the night. As much as I tried to get back into it, it wasn't happening.
Had I wrote a review a few weeks ago when I had went I would've given Exotic's 3 stars, after last night's event I'm going to have to bring it down to 2 stars, and the only reason I'm giving it 2 is for staff but let's be honest, people aren't going to clubs to socialize with staff. Â
Maybe in the future if I go back to Exotics I'll have a more pleasant time and be able to change my rating.
I'm not a big fan of paying to get into clubs in queens but will do it if its worth it. This place was clearly not worth it. Waited on line at 11:30 and got in 10 after 12 where they did not honor ladies free before midnight even though we waited for that long to get in. Place was at 1/3 filled up when I got in where the 2nd level was only for bottle service with no dance floors up there. Though not his fault, dj lost power to his equipment for 20 minutes. Bottom line, $30 for me and $25 for wife in a club where dance floor was filled with people just dancing around being over looked by table service people just standing around watch the first level also stand around. Drinks are about $10 each. This place was awful!
Would have given it no stars but the girls we talked to on line were cool so they get the star
