Firewood brick oven pizza? No wood, no bricks, at least they used fire and not a microwave like many pizza places in airports. The flavor was good, I liked that they don't have them ready, they won't cook it until you order it. They have thin crust that is actually crunchy!. It is a good pizza place, probably the best... At an airport!!
Review Source:I travel quite a bit for work. I discovered Firewood Cafe in OAK and have always enjoyed the chicken orator pizza. Â The catalyst for this review today was the incredible service I received today. Â Really friendly people. Â Really fast service. Â I will definitely come back whenever I fly international.
Review Source:What the. I was shocked to see this place has low reviews. Considering all the crap pile food options in all the airports I've been in, this is a win. I was lured by the smell of the cooking pizza & open woodfire oven.
They have pre-made sandwhiches and salads, but I opted for a margherita pizza as that tends to be my go to. I also got served up a double Vodka Cran and made my way to sit down while I waited. Less than 10 minutes later my pizza was ready! The crust was crunchy and crisp from the oven & the toppings were to perfection. I ate every little piece possible.
Good pizza, good drinks, good service and not horrifically pricey for the airport by any means.
Having forgot my lunch one day at work I was forced into doing something that I absolutely hate doing and that is spending an absurd amount of money on food!
I went to the food court area in Terminal 3 and wanted food from somewhere I haven't had yet, and also I didn't have a whole lot of time. I showed up wanting to go to Lori's Diner but that line was insane, then I looked at lines at this Chinese restaurant called Fung Lum, line was too long so my next option was Firewood and surprisingly there was no line at all. So that made my decision easier.
I looked at the menu and i saw that the average price for a pizza was $12!! $12??? AHHHH something I did not want to do but deep down inside I really wanted to have it...
I ordered a pepperoni pizza, just kept it simple. I believe they use a wood burning oven which makes the crust nice and toasty which in the end tastes pretty good. I received it about 12 minutes later.
If you are not a fan of greasy food then I advise you go elsewhere because the pizza here is just that. It seemed like a pound of grease came sliding off each slice that I ate.
In the end though, the pizza was alright. I was hungry so I ate it without much complaining.
And I know I have only talked about the pizza here and that's only because that is the only thing I had from here. I believe they had salad and some other things on the menu as well.
Stopped by here with the wife on the way to Hong Kong. Wife had the bacon burger with garlic fries. At first she didn't realize they had garlic fries when we ordered and she asked the waitress if she could get that instead dispite us already ordering and paid for everything. The server didn't hesitate and ordered it for her without charge. I thought that was really cool of her.
The burgers are really just ordinary though. They didn't mess it up by all means. The garlic fries are good and actually worth ordering. It's a nice place at the international terminal outside of the security gate. They have TV's to watch and stuff. More of a cafe than a restaurant. There are other places to eat around the corner, but they were Asian foods, and I was going to eat that most of the three weeks I was there, so no thanks.
Overall it's not bad for a sit down and munch on something before a flight and the occasional drink.
Airport food. Â
Need I say more.  Well, actually this is pretty good considering what you might find in other airports nationwide.  Rather than dining on national chains (Pizza Hut, Panda Express, Burger King, etc.), we are fortunate to have wood burning ovens serving fresh food albeit at a slight premium price wise.  My stomach pointed me here after thinking about the various options in Terminal 3 (Tomakazu, Lori's Diner, Boudin, etc.).  I ordered a mushroom pizza (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=wa979sgDujEBooUUOCXeGw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q">http://www.yelp.com/user…</a>) which was served hot.  Don't expect a Zero Zero or Tony's quality pizza here.
They have a good variety of drink selections and salads are also available for those seeking lighter fare. Â It's probably a notch below those gourmet vendors in Terminal 2, but it did the job for me during a recent voyage to SoCal.
You know... when you're in the airport waiting for your flight and it's dinner time... a $12 pizza doesn't sound that bad. For you carb conscious folks, it's thin crust. I had the mushroom pizza with onions and it was pretty good. And that's a lot considering I'm one of those people that hate buying overpriced airport food. But hey... this wasn't such a terrible option. The manager guy there too that took my order was super nice too!
Review Source:People must always be extra grumpy when traveling b/c I usually see nothing but venom for Terminal fare....& the reviews here are no exception
I happen to be a fan of Firewood Cafe
Grabbed a quick Garden Salad was fresh & yummy. Cukes, Â carrots, & tomato w/ Italian vinaigrette....lots & lots of different greens & not a wilty or bitter leaf in the bunch
They were just a bit evil, however, cooking up all those delish-looking pizzas in their open oven. Â There were quite a variety of choices from breakfast pizzas to the "usual suspects"
But alas, the salad was calling my name....and props for offering it!! Â Fantastic choice for those of us who are trying to maintain some sort of nasty diet regimen & let me tell you......when traveling, it's next to impossible to stick to it
But Firewood's big Garden Salad did the trick! Â Much thanks!!
Normally, I consider this place the least of all the evils in terms of food choices at this part of the airport. I got a garden salad with chicken to eat during a flight to Hawaii. It was a small salad, but with the hefty price tag of about $7.50. The salad was packed so tightly, Â the dressing could not disperse and leaves fell out as soon as I opened the box. The leaves were fresh, the chicken was nondescript. But the worst moment was when I saw an enormous, long insect crawl out from the salad. I don't expect excellent food at airports, but the stuff I get should be free of insects! So gross!!!
Review Source:I can't imagine a worse way to spend $21. Â I was very low on time and Firewood had no line and a pleathora of premade meals to grab. Â I should have realized that the lack of line was an ill portent. Â Let's start with my roast beef sandwich. Â Somehow the contents, which weren't bad on their lonesome, only covered 70% of the bread. Â And that bread was either stale or made of the wheat that flunked out of 7th grade. Â The caesar salad with chicken was no better. Â First, there was only enough dressing for about a quarter of the lettuce. Â The lettuce was so plentiful that it was impossible to mix the contents of the salad (chicken, cheese, dressing, croutons, and lettuce) without spilling lettuce everywhere. Â Oh, and the croutons taste like three-day-old garlic bread recently dunked in water. Â Tragic. Â Never spend money here.
Review Source:Stopped here at the airport thinking I would get a pizza...After looking at the menu and going back and forth between pizza and breakfast, the breakfast won out.
I had a breakfast scramble with ham and peppers. I really enjoyed the scramble and the bacon that I wasn't expecting. Â I was not a fan of the biscuit- was very dry and it didn't come with butter or jelly. Â I also was so tired that I didn't even think to ask for any. Â They did give me some ice for my cup so I could have ice water.
The service was nice and the food was filling. It was good but nothing made it super. Â I may consider actually having a pizza the next time, just to check that out.

Meh. The pizza was overpriced for the small size, and it tasted pretty bland. I also ordered their margherita pizza which said "Homemade tomato sauce, fresh Roma tomatoes, and basil leaves" and as someone who avoids gratuitous amounts of dairy, I was not pleased to see cheese smothering the pizza. Â Service was good, though.
Review Source:One important thing to consider: the food court in this part of the airport at SFO is largely disappointing. Â While it might have better quality fare than many other airport food courts, it's way overpriced, and there are few to no takeout options for a flight that's timed perfectly to overlap with any normal lunch or dinner time.
So when I went in search of a salad to bring on the plane with me (after having realized the hope of any other vegetarian cold takeout option was nowhere near), I had an option between an enormous, mega, several-pound container or a small one for around $5. Â It looked pretty good, but trying to eat it on the plane was impossible. Â The dressing wouldn't disperse when I shook it up, and the carrots were really peppery somehow, even though the rest of it was pretty bland. Â I took the smallest bites humanly possible to savor the one large chunk of cucumber they deigned to include.
At least the lettuce was fresh?
