You must come here for happy hour! 5 for $6 until 7pm. The food items are delicious and so are all of their drinks. I have been here before for dinner but it's not as good as happy hour. The mushroom ravioli, calamari, and brie are all on point. Simply delicious. We can't wait to go back for girls night.
Review Source:Fleming's gift cards were available at Costco. $100 worth of gift cards (2-$50 gift cards) sells for $80, score! The filet mignon, lobster tail, truffle mashed potatoes... were all delicious and cooked perfectly as expected. I like the meat texture here vs. Shula's (too soft).
$39.95 Petite Filet
$54.95 Chef's Special (Petite Filet, Lobster Tail, and Truffle Mashed Potatoes)
$9.95 Double Cut French Fries (nothing special, kinda soft)
$12.50 Turtle Pie a la mode
Service was friendly even though we didn't order wine. Parking at the city parking lot one or two blocks east of the restaurant (on Andalusia Ave I think) was just $1/hr.
We also got a $25 off next purchase coupon on our receipt if we fill out a survey online. Â It's kind of cool that if you just follow directions in your email after the survey (and use the reservation link), then the $25 will be taken off your bill automatically. Â No need to present a cheesy coupon at a nice restaurant, sweet!
Have you ever looked for a good, inexpensive happy hour in Coral Gables?
They are not easy to find. Fleming's has amazing $6 happy hour deals for food at the bar.
The $6 menu includes a huge juicy cheeseburger with fries and an onion ring, steak carpaccio (super tasty), BBQ shrimp and calamari. If you want a drink, they also have a selection of wines for $6 and the last time we were there we had two Sam Adams for $6.
Great place to go with your significant other for a fun early dinner.
Awesome Happy Hour!!
never really been there for anything else but the happy hour is GREAT. Their burger which is usually $14 is six during HH and three dollar beers. This being a classy joint and all you know that service is going to be top notch so you don't have to worry about that. All you have to worry about is getting there before 7
If you want to impress your date with a big check and romantic dining, then you should stop in on a Monday night. Â You'll have the entire restaurant to yourself. Â They probably only run with 3-4 servers, so that means you'll be catered to hand and foot.
I recommend the Bone-in Ribeye and the Lamb Chops. Â Both are cooked to order and taste like heaven. Â The ribeye especially is a main draw. Â And who can beat their 100 wines by the glass?
If you're a bit unsure of what to order as far as wine goes, then consult the iPad that's given to you at your table. Â There is a rundown on every wine they have in house and you'll feel like a wine expert in no time.
Servers aren't overly pushy and timing is perfect. Â Moving forward, this will be a destination on every trip to Miami. Â However, flawless execution doesn't come cheap. Â
Dinner for two;
Ravioli Appetizer
Lamb Chops
Ribeye
Bottle of Pinor Noir
Creme Brulee
Cost $177...$220 w/ tip.
You may have to save up a little...
Love this place! I came here once for their regular dinner service (which was awesome, but pricey), and then found out that they have a happy hour menu that's available at the bar. You cannot beat their $6 burger and they have great cocktails and wines by the glass for the same price. Plus, the staff is always attentive.
Review Source:Finally got to venture out to Fleming's after such a long time of having it bookmarked on my yelp. Came with a girlfriend for their happy hour specials and was really pleased. They have a happy hour menu from 5-7pm and each item on the menu is $6. Decided on the tropical martini which was really good, but a little too fruity in my opinion. We also got the calamari which were really good, mushroom ravioli and shrimp. Everything came out very nicely and the service was great as well. Its hard to find places with really good service but they did just that and more. I'll definitely be making my way out here sometime again soon to try more things from the regular menu.
Thank you Flemings for a great mid week pick me up. See you soon!
The first Fleming's I tried was over in San Diego and it was a great experience. I've been to the Coral Gables location two or three times now and I've had a consistent experience here. The bar scene is great, the drinks were very good, especially for the happy hour cocktails.
I was disappointed with our appetizer at the bar, which was grits with pork belly, because it seems the pork belly needed more pan frying. It was cooked, but it just needed something else.
However, dinner was great -- the steak (filet mignon) was well seasoned. I ordered a glass of wine with dinner and it was fabulous. I love the quality of the wine Fleming's has. The mashed potatoes were also great as was the lava cake dessert (fabulous!).
Aside from the pork belly disappointment, the greens beans were cooked in mushrooms, which wasn't specified on the menu. Sadly, I'm not a big fan of mushrooms.
I would come back because the service is great, the cocktails and wine are fabulous -- just probably not too frequently.
Again always consistent. Â Staff is very knowledgable and make great recommendations. Â Richard and I love coming here for date night. Â We sit at the bar first which is generally very lively and then move to our favorite seat for a little romance! Â Missed Valentine's day due to the snow in New York but we celebrated last weekend and it was just as romantic. Â We love the place!
Review Source:I understand that Flemings is a chain very familiar to those on the east coast? I haven't eaten at one previously and had a chance to visit the one in Coral Gables Florida for a business dinner. I'm generally not a big fan of National chains, so when I helped choose this place I was skeptical. In the end, it's a solid steakhouse and would happily recommend or visit again. I had a bone in cut of meat and it was cooked perfectly. We shared a number of side dishes, but the Fleming Potatoes were a must order. The creamed spinach was just okay. There's probably many better places to dine in the Miami area, but was out of my element and was happy to eat at Flemings.
Review Source:WOW - Excellent dining experience at the Bar!!! Great Service and FAN-tastic food!!! The wine list is an iPad and its full of information- of course the staff can help you through everything but if you want to search around on your own it is BY FAR the easiest and most helpful way for you to figure your own way into a great wine! Â Don't skip on dessert!
Review Source:Yelp's interpretation of a 2 star rating is "Meh. I've experienced better." This is quite generous of the experience my friends and I had last week for a meeting/presentation for a group of  ~50.
Pros: 1) The atmosphere/ambiance is great in this corner location. Probably the best part of our experience.
2) Maitre d' was pretty welcoming so we had a positive feeling about our upcoming meal.
3) The carrot cake was LEGIT!
Cons: 1) The seating was a little tight in the banquet room.
2) The wine was served in decent sized glasses but the pours seemed stingy.
3) The service was not very discrete during the presentation and I felt like they were obtrusive to the presenter.
4) The food. Yep, the main reason most people go to a restaurant. The Caesar salad was whatever. Nothing to write about. One of my friends ordered the fish and twice they tried serving her steak. When she finally got it, the sides were cold. The rest of us ordered the steak and every single steak was served at the incorrect doneness. I ordered rare, got medium. It seemed under seasoned and in no way did I think I was eating a USDA Prime cut of meat. My friend to the left ordered med rare and got well done. My friend to the right ordered medium and when he finally got his steak after all of us had finished ours, it was rare. He also had to ask for new sides since our communal sides had gotten cold and the servers didn't think of bringing them out. Â
5) We were supposed to get creme brulee but weren't informed they were out and were presented with some carrot cake. However, the cake was a pro so not all was lost there.
All in all, probably the least memorable steak house experience I've had. Would definitely not recommend it. Not sure if it was an off night or if this is the norm for Fleming's since it was my first and probably last dining experience with them.
Flemings is always a nice occasion and I am especially impressed with their wine list. We went for the Miami Spice menu. It was a nice touch to have a wine pairing option.
I still prefer the regular menu and look forward to a filet Flemmington on the next visit...
It is nice to note that the restaurant really maintains a very high standard of service. The ambiance is always top notch over the many years that we have visited.
If you go for a special occasion, let them know in advance. The "occasion confetti" is a simple but nice touch they decorate the tables with...
To date...best steak I've ever had was @ Ruth's Chris.
This was my first time @ Fleming's and I am a fan.... NY strip & walnut salad were outstanding!!! Service was great! and Manager was very attentive - even gave me a bday gift card, how tender. Def will return!
Wine: bottle of Pascaul, Argentina - one word, WOW!
I think I'll be having birthdays on a monthly basis now.... Â ;-)
Just a quick disclosure. I am reviewing my last two visits in one. Hence the 4* rating.
The first visit was outstanding! Five star all the way across the board. Food, service the works! My Porcini filet was fantastic! Cooked exactly as ordered it was tender and delicious. The mashed potatoes with fresh roasted garlic and the sautéed mushrooms were a great accompaniment.  Service was attentive and friendly. Water glasses were never empty and plates were cleared promptly.
Now, I just went again a week later for Miami Spice. Â If this had been my first visit, I may have thought twice about returning. It wasn't horrible by no means. But just not what we expected. First of all, our table was by a column near the kitchen. I had about a foot of space between my chair and the person behind me. The problem was that it was a pathway from the kitchen, so my seat was constantly jostled. I was fully expecting to have something dumped on my head.
The Miami Spice menu sounded okay. I ordered the filet skewers, salad, beef tournedos And carrot cake. Again, it wasn't horrible but the "tender filet" in both the skewers and tournedos was pretty chewy and tendon-y. Is that a word??? My husband ordered the Sunday roast and said that it was tasteless. The sauces saved it.
Service was jut okay. Not very attentive and quite hurried. Granted, they appeared pretty busy, but not more than when we were there last.
I LOVE their Chardonnay infused feta spread and the chocolate lava cake! Yum!
We will definitely return, just not for Miami Spice. Next up, Happy Hour!
This place is great! Â Only a few minor tweaks and it would have received a five star review.
Great service, outstanding food and great atmosphere.
I took my girlfriend to dinner here for our aniversary and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and congratulate us on our milestone.
The food was outstanding, one of the best steaks in Miami.
Good food and above all, GOOD SERVICE. Â I am willing to return to a restaurant with ok food that appreaciates my patronage than a highly rated restaurant that acts like they are doing me a favor, but Flemings has booth great food and service.
The only complaint I would have is the hostess should do a better job of welcoming guests and then making them feel welcome.
This place is nice. Be careful.
I ordered the porcini rubbed filet mignon and, so far, it's the best steak I've ever had.
We also ordered the calimari and it was the best I've ever had. It had a weird similarity to sweet and sour chicken. Awesome.
The wine we had was Shiraz, bin 28, by Penfolds. Also the best Shiraz ive ever had.
The service ? Great but not the best. For the price it needs to be perfect. Let's be real. Our water glasses at times stayed dry. Our food took maybe 10 minutes longer than it should have. Those things kept it from a 5 star. The service was nice and polite but still not perfect.
The carrot cake...would be enough to score this place a 4 star. Unfair on how awesome it is. Wow.
Pricey & nice. If I could I'd come back more often.
I had previously been here for a business lunch. You know the type. Where your credit card isn't the one paying.... Yea, the lunch menu was excellent. I didn't think much more of Flemings though, as it's dinner menu was not in my budget range.
Then AMEX sent out a gift card to Miami card holders for $50 in free food i you paid with your AMEX at the end of the meal. Wait, I could buy a $5.00 drink and get a free $50.00 steak? Oh hell yes, I'm there.
My wife and I made a reservation through Opentable/Yelp and arrived on time for our reservation. We where seated with no wait and we where very promptly attended too by our waiter.
We shared a boneless thick cut steak, a bottle of Merlot, and an appetizer of fried calamari with a spicy gumbo topping. The appetizer sounded like it would be good, but we sure where glad we took a chance and ordered it! It's a little soggy but defiantly worth it.
The wine bottle was my wife's choice, and as usual, her instincts where amazing when it came to selecting a bottle.
Now the steak, oh the steak. It was at least an 1" thick and big enough for two. It was seared just right with that burned gristle but a smooth, medium rare inside. At Fleming's they know how to cook a steak. We literally spent a 1/2 hour eating the steak bite by bite with sips of wine between each taste. So worth it.
Would we go back? Sure! But beware, this is a case of getting what you pay for. And for the quality they serve, you will pay a high price. Thank god for that coupon...
Been here many times and because we've been here many times I didn't even think to write a review, well cause it's Flemming's. Kinda a chain and pretty fancy stuff here.
My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner here in 2011 - we had about 30 people and Liz - the party coordinator - did a fantastic job!
Little chocolates at everyone's seat, pretty love confetti all over the table. Beautiful.
We had picked out our menu beforehand.
Everyone was getting the Mac and cheese and green beans.
People had a choice between the steak, chicken and fish. Everyone got the steak except for our vegetarian - fish for her!
Wow - for quickly mass producing a steak for so many people it was so delicious! Not chewy, just so amazing... I had so many people praising the dinner that night.
A year later we are going by ourselves - and it's a special treat cause we are not ones to drop $100 on dinner. (We had a gift certificate)
This time we went and got a wedge salad, and instead of using all of our GC on one steak we got the smaller ones.
Filet Mignon skewers - 3 skewers with 4 (maybe 3 i don't remember) pieces of filet on each with a Gorgonzola bacon dipping sauce. Then a tomato mozzarella salad.
I'm so glad I got that! One thing it was half the price of a regular steak number two it came with a TOMATO salad! (I love tomatoes)
Of course we also got the mac and cheese and def wanted the lava cake (which you need to order 30 min in advance, quality takes time!)
Husband got the filet pieces - it was over some kind of truffle risotto. Really really good.
All of those things and we were stuffed! - when we go back I'm getting the skewers again. Half the price, filling and so amazing. Yes please!
This was our second visit to Fleming's. We visited in February to celebrate our anniversary. I reserved through OpenTable and noted the special occasion. Once we arrived to the restaurant, the hostess greeted us and took us right to our table without delay.
They had our table decorated with flowers and a greeting card; a really nice gesture that made our romantic dinner most pleasant. We both had a bottle of Chianti and decided for the Filet Mignon with mashed potatoes as shared side. The Filets were cooked perfectly! One particular observation is that the meat is grilled and not cooked in a pan, which is nice for a change. I really enjoy the grill flavor. There was so much taste to the meat. The season was right on point (salt, pepper, and drizzled melted butter for some moisture).
The mashed potatoes were pure goodness. They were creamy and flavorful also. I don't like stiff mashed potatoes (hard as a rock) so the one here was perfect for my taste. In our April visit, we ordered the Filets again but with creamed spinach. They were cooked nicely and complimented cheese and black pepper. I highly suggest trying them if you love creamed spinach. One of the best I've tried.
The staff at Fleming's unquestionably went above and beyond to make our evening memorable. We will definitely be back. I also have been meaning to try their happy hour. After reading other users' comments, I need to make some time and try it out!
PS: try to seat outside on evenings with good weather. There are a limited number of outside tables. We love outdoor dining and the weather was coolbreezy. A total plus: great food and great ambiance.
Wow!!! First time here and it was amazing! Great ambiance and great service. Â Everything was a GREAT expierence. Arrived earlier then our reservation and still got sat right away. Â We were celebrating a special day and they went beyond to make it special.
The Filet Migon outstanding; perfect tempeture and taste. Â The Flemmings potatoes was a great choice.
Will be back and will bring guest.
This place is amaizing! Â Great decor, great service and great ambiance! Â
The filet mignon is the BEST steak I have EVER had and I challenge anyone to show me the contrary! Â It has such an explosion of flavor in every bite, that I have no better words to describe it with.
We loved everything about this restaurant and look forward to returning soon. Â :)
5 for 6 until 7
That's a happy hour worth mentioning!!
Great decor, great service, great ambiance!!!
But this review carries on to a spectacular dinner service. Â
After your drink head over to the dining room to indulge in some delightful steak!!!! Now I will admit I am a proud filet mignon snob. I mean really what else could compare?? Well strap on your seat belts fellow snobs. Â I have four words for you, prime bone in ribeye. Â I know, I know, but trust me....there are no words. Just juicy explosions of flavor!!! BONE in RIBEYE!!!!
Other note worthy items, the bread...yumm
The Caesar salad with anchovies
The special house potatoes.
And the Rutherford cab, for $40 it's a steal!
AMAZING 5-6-7 HAPPY HOUR!
There's 5 different appetizer's and drinks that you can have for $6 each until 7pm at the bar area. The Fiance and I shared some sweet and spicy calamari and Carpaccio accompanied by 2 glasses of Pinot Noir.
Everything was so delicious and the service was excellent.
Definitely a happy hour to keep in mind!
HAPPY HR for 6 hungry girls.
they have a great little happy hr menu till 7pm with specialty drinks, beer, wine, and food for $6. We ate every item on the happy hr menu TWICE:
SWEET CHILE CALAMARI -really good and ended up ordering 2 of these after we devoured the 1st plate.
MUSHROOM RAVIOLI - good but only 3 raviolis in the order and that's just silly.
TENDERLOIN CARPACCIO
SEARED AHI TUNA
CAJUN BARBECUE SHRIMP -packs a punch. prolly my fav.
FLEMING'S PRIME BURGER Â with Cheese and Bacon that comes with 2 huge tasty onion rings.
the martini's were strong. friend didn't enjoy the cabernet but the pinot was popular.
dessert: CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE and CRÈME BRÛLÉE and both yummy.
on another occasion, I dined with hubby and he loved his steak meal and server let me order from the happy hr menu so I had the SLICED FILET MIGNON BURGER $18 and it was magnificent and huge! this place does not feel like a chain at all. or at least, it measures up to the fancy chains like Ruth Chris. on hubby trip, we spent about $70 with wine.
was gonna give it a 4 but hubby won't let me b/c he still remembers how good his steak was about a yr ago. needless to say, I recommend for romance and happy hr and not too many places can do both well.
THIS IS ONLY A REVIEW ABOUT THEIR HAPPY HOUR SPECIALS:
Alex L. and I came to have a midweek drink before our significant others got out of work one day last week, and I must say that it is a pretty good deal they've got going on. For $6 a drink or an appetizer, you can sit at the bar area and chit chat about your day and hang out without spending too much money.
Alex had 2 glasses of wine and I had their rum cocktail (which was delicious!). We also shared a huge order of sweet and spicy calamari which was spectacular!
I didn't know about their happy hour specials until the other day, so I will most definitely add this to my list of after-work drinks spots.
Fleming's did not fall short of amazing. Where do I start - the food, the service or the ambiance? We had a reservation at 5:45 and valet did not open until 6 PM. I called ahead and right away, they were sure to accommodate me "park out front in the valet spot, give us yours keys and we will handle the rest". Perfect! We got there and were greeted by two hostesses and immediately sat down. I love the fact that the tables are nicely spaced out and you don't feel as though you've got the person behind you, sitting on the back of your chair.
Our waiter was extremely pleasant and attentive the entire time. Not pushy, not annoyed and not unprofessional...just the way excellent service should be.
We started off with two appetizers - the carpaccio and the mozzarella with sweet tomato & balsamic salad. Fresh & delicious. My husband and I both ordered their new porcini filet entree with asparagus and a light gorgonzola sauce. The meat was tender and perfectly cooked. We also ordered a side of their chipoltle mac n cheese. Delicious!!
Our water was never empty and our waiter was constantly hovering around (far away & not noticeable, but as a yelper, I pay attention) to see if we may need something. He suggested we order their chocolate lava cake as dessert and was nice enough to advise us "it will take approx 15 mins but it will be well worth it". Heck yea it was!! Wow. This is not your store bought chocolate lava cake - my husband doesn't even like chocolate all that much and he couldn't stop eating it. (Picture posted) The manager then came over to wish my husband a Happy Birthday and sent us home with a box of truffles. Nice personal touch.
Fleming's is absolutely a MUST when you want elegant, fine Gables dining. If you go around 5:45, it is perfect. Seems as though we finished up right before the rush at 7:15.
Oh & the waiter even took our valet card to valet while we were paying the bill so that as we walked out the door, our car was pulling up.
Note: Valet is a flat $7.
Go...you won't regret it.
I actually worked at this place four years ago, and hadn't been back since. This is the one restaurant I worked where the management was great, but most of the employees were louses. I was happy to see they were all gone, unfortunately along with the management.
I went with a friend to the "5 for $6 till 7" happy hour at the bar. Five appetizers, cocktails, and wines for $6 between 5 and 7pm. As soon as you sit down there's a plate of homemade potato chips with sea salt to keep you company while you wait for your order. We got two.
We split a prime burger with cheddar and peppered bacon, a huge order of sweet chili calamari, a beef carpaccio, and an order of Cajun bbq shrimp. And we each washed it all down with a Blue Moon Belgian White Ale ($3). Everything except for the shrimp was outstanding.
The grand total was $32, which is ironic because that's what the people in the main dining room were paying for just a steak. I'm sure they were wondering why everyone that came in made a b-line for the bar.
Fun fact: when full, the dimly lit dining room is louder than Dolphins stadium at kick-off for game one of the season(before they start sucking). "But how is that good, Digestion?" I'll tell you how, it's so dark and loud nobody's going to notice or hear your friend sobbing loudly because he/she just got dumped. Drama averted!! BOOYAH!
Here's the bottom line. Fleming's has great ambiance, yummy food, and fantastic service. We've been many times to Fleming's in Stanford, CA, once to Fleming's in Naples, and just went to this Fleming's for the first time since moving to South Fl.
We like the place, we go a lot, we take our friends. Why waste words arguing about the pros and cons? No restaurant is perfect but Fleming's is one of our very favorites.
Usually I get stuck in a rut, because I like what I like. Mozzarella & Tomato salad, double-thick pork chop (medium), mac-n-cheese, asparagus, and cheesecake. yum-O. My husband usually orders a filet. Always good. Once his meat was a little too well-done (this was in Naples), but he sent it back and got a fantastic replacement.
Love. The End.
The first time I went to Fleming's was about 3 years ago. I had the Beef Flemington and it changed my life. I never knew something so delicious existed. The concept was simple, really: a perfectly cooked filet topped with mushrooms, wrapped in puff pastry, and placed atop Madeira sauce. The tender beef, delicate pastry, and earthy sauce made for a glorious bite.
Well, maybe that dish really did change my life because shortly afterwards, I left behind everything I knew in search of new horizons. Life never again brought me back to Fleming's...until last night. To my surprise (and horror), Beef Flemington, one of their signature dishes, wasn't even on the menu anymore! I immediately asked our still-wet-behind-the-ears server what happened to it. After checking with more seasoned staff, she returned with the sad news that it had been permanently removed from the menu. ::gasp:: But that, luckily, they had the ingredients on hand and could prepare it for me. ::sigh:: She advised you should call ahead if you wish to order this dish, because they won't always be able to make it for you.
When the steak finally reach my table after all these years, I have to say it wasn't as good as I remembered. The pastry tasted of raw dough and the steak was a little more done than the medium temperature I asked for. Understandably so, though, since it is a very temperamental dish (probably why they slashed it from their menu in the first place). Must be extremely difficult to get the timing right when you're trying to cook two different things with very different cooking temperatures at the same time. Still, a fine, aged steak and worth the price ($34) and the wait. Not to mention the satisfaction of knowing how much my palate has evolved since the last time I had it. That steak used to be my culinary Mt. Everest. Now, in comparison, I know there are foods more interesting and delicious.
The service was shaky but she was new, and probably won't be there for long. People either have it or they don't at these places.
What you MUST come here for, however, is the "5 for $6, til' 7" happy hour!!! Five generous appetizers, cocktails, and wines for $6 each until 7 pm. We had the spicy calamari and beef carpaccio. Both excellent, especially the carpaccio! A very generous portion of paper-thin sliced raw beef, topped with a white sauce, capers, and finely diced red onion, served with sliced fresh baguette which had been lightly toasted and topped w/ parmesan cheese. To die! I couldn't believe we had only paid $6 for that beautiful dish! The special wine selection was also very good. They had 1 white and 4 reds to choose from. We tried all the reds and they were divine, especially the Cab from Argentina. The happy hour is only available at the bar section, every day, between 4 and 7 pm. Go!
I will probably be returning to Fleming's much more frequently now. They offer an obscene selection of wines by the glass or the bottle, all price ranges (from $6/glass to $25). The food is good and the prices are comparable to most places of this caliber (I would even say the prices are lower than most similar places). But the clincher is that spectacular happy hour special you rarely see steakhouses bother with. Fleming's is making their establishment available to a wider base of clientele and I applaud them for that.
Great service and attention to detail...
The moment we sat at our table, we were greeted by our waitor and two glasses of champagne (complimentary) for the celebration of my bf's birthday. Right off the back, I thought that was an excellent touch and set the mood perfectly. Our table was smack in the middle of the dining room, but still managed to have a very private feel. The lighting is dim and amber.
We ordered some Filets and salads. The Fleming salad has walnuts and cranberries. Very good. Our steaks were pretty amazing, as well. We were then surprised with a chocolate souflee to top off the celebration.
I think what really made the night enjoyable was the fact that service was so on point. The magical blend of the restaurant, food, wine, and staff really make the experience a memorable one. I was pleasantly surprised and would not hesitate to return. Thanks for providing us with a great birthday celebration evening!
It was either Halloween or the rain that made me think of Flemings with consternation. As, I arrived, due largely to the fact that it was empty. There's something creepy about eating in an empty restaurant, and to trump that we actually had to wait for a table.
Fleming's which is owned by Outback Steak House, who also owns Carraba's and some fish place, has a great wine list and a interesting menu, but for some reason it just didn't come together. Are waiter, nice guy but, uninspiring. I ordered the Alaskan King Crab Legs, and they were just ok, I liked my 14 Hands wine though. My G/F ordered the Porcine Crusted Filet Mignon with Blue Cheese. that too was ok. It's not that Flemings lacks ambiance, it's a great looking steakhouse with a great bar and great wines to boot. (Oh my wine glass wasn't clean too)
Maybe I just had the Halloween doldrums after losing my reservations to Barton G, and Flemings was empty empty empty!
No reservations, no problem, the very lovely hostess was ready to seat us, then I asked if we could have a booth. She stated it would be about a ten minute wait. Well worth the wait. Grabbed some cocktails and enjoyed a nice conversation as the wait was no longer than ten minutes.
The decor is dark, perfect dim lighting, casual not stuffy at all. Lot's of patrons were in the bar area as Happy Hour was winding down. We sat at a lovely booth, very comfortable. Our waitress (Letizia) greeted us, told us about the specials for the evening and took our wine order. She came over with our bottle and decanted it for us. Delightful!
Started with french onion soup and a Fleming's house salad- hubby had such a hard time eating the french onion soup, as the cheese was so fresh and abundant that it was stuck all over his face with every bite.....
How good was it? The bowl was empty at the end of his fiascal.......Of course I wanted to hide under the table, from embarassment....hee hee
My salad was delish, fresh greens, crisp, walnuts, cranberries, in a light vinaigrette dressing.
Entree:
Originally I was gonna order a Filet Mignon but Letizia mentioned a special which included a small Filet and Grouper combo. Two of my fav's....so this is what I choose. $40.95 cooked medium rare, juicy, tender, good flavor, good cut of meat with fresh green beans in some kind of a soy sauce. The grouper had a light batter and was deep fried (two pieces). Grouper was good and fresh, not fishy at all, nor dry. Could have done without the batter, and just grilled but it was still good.
Hubby ordered the Prime Ribeye- no bone in medium, very juicy and tender. Surprising to my taste I did like his steak. Minus the fat....It seemed to have alot of natural juices flowing, awesome......
Always enjoy their steaks because they do not over season them. They do not mask the natural flavors of a well cooked steak.
To full for dessert, so we finished our wine and ventured off.
The wine list is excellent. The service was impeccable. We so enjoyed our waitress Letizia. She mentioned it was only her second week and she was professional, friendly, and alot of fun. Always ask for a booth or make reservations, much more intimate and comfy.
Great Happy Hour specials!!
It's been a while since we last visited Flemings, the BF was in the mood for a steak and he wanted to splurge.
Like always, we started with the Seafood Tower.
I ordered the Sunday Prime Rib Dinner, it came with Salad, choice of a said and dessert. I decided on the Wedge Salad w/o Blue Cheese (great citrus vinaigrette dressing), a side of Sauteed Mushrooms and the Tahitian Vanilla Creme Brulee.
I should have stopped at the salad - it was too much food and I couldn't stop...
the BF had the Lamb Chop with a side of Fleming's Potatoes. The lamb chop was an extra large portion than usual and the flavor was just amazing. It was cooked to perfection, the combination of the sauce and the lamb's own gamey flavor was just heaven. The only sad thing was the that the kitchen forgot to put the potatoes in, so we canned the order.
Not only was the food awesome, the wait staff were amazing as well. Of course, not all things can be 100% perfect. The noise was crying babies and children running around in barefoot could totally ruin a nice dinner.
SO, a fair warning, DO NOT go to Flemings on SUNDAYS if you want to enjoy dinner with an adult atmosphere.
Lets start off with the fact I had reservations and they told us that they were waiting for people to get up and leave and it would take 10 minutes, 40 Minutes later is when they finally sat us down. One thing that kept me from staying and not getting up and leaving was the fact that they came around with a free glass of wine for having to wait. The table they sat us at was big so we were across from each other and I felt I had to yell for my bf to hear me. (Not good) & it was very loud inside so as you can imagine that didn't help.
We finally got seated, the service could have been better. Our waiter was nice, but we had been sitting for at least 5 minutes before being asked if we would like something to drink.
I ordered the Prime Rib, side dishes were mash potatoes and mushrooms. The side dishes weren't that big, but it did leave enough room to share for 2. The mash potatoes were good (but how wrong can you go), & the mushrooms weren't that tasty. The Prime Rib was delish though, thankfully, because I was starting to think this place wasn't what people made it out to be. And honestly it wasn't. For the price and the food I prefer to go to Ruth Chris.
After being very frustrated I decided to order a vodka tonic. This was pretty good. Thankfully, because I needed it.
I gave it a 4 star which I would have given it 3 1/2 if I could. I would go back if I had a gift card to go (which is why we went), but other than that I don't think I will be going back any time soon.
The bf and I have been here several times and it's always a great experience. The wait staff is incredible and the food is just as great. Their house salad concoction is a salad lover's dream. Their potatoes au gratin oozes with delicious cheesiness but with a kick of jalapeno. They are a MUST. And of course the steaks are the main stars.
I would give this place 5 stars, but I remember reading about a drink only Fleming's served called a Vinotini. I asked for one during my last time here, only for them to tell me they no longer served them. :(
