Ok, I will try not to sound to harsh but if this is a creamery...... I hate to see what is said about the place across the street from here. The ice cream is icy not creamy. The " hot fudge" is chocolate syrup and not even warm. I did not try the crepes so I can not give my opinion about them. Â The staff was nice but slow even when there were less than two people ahead of us. I'm sorry I could only give this place 2 stars.
Review Source:I wish I would've tried the crepes because the ice cream was mediocre at best. I ordered the Sugar Free Moose Tracks and it was decent, although nothing to write home about. My aunt ordered a scoop of Yellow Cake Batter and was very disappointed. She doesn't care for chocolate and the name of the ice cream in no way indicated it would include, as we later learned, chocolate icing swirls. In addition, the ice cream itself had a strange lemony flavor, rather than yellow cake flavor. On a positive note, the portions here are huge, with a single scoop filling a large cup.
Review Source:Great location on the Monon Trail. Â Big parking lot. Â Both outdoor tables with umbrellas and indoor seating for any weather. Â Complimentary dog biscuits for canine friends. Â Sidewalk chalk & beanbag toss entertainment for the rest of us.
Cheerful, helpful staff. 23 ice cream flavors (including some Bonnie Doon) plus 4 sugar-free. 23 different toppings can be added at 50cents each. Â Standard shakes, malts, Avalanches, sundaes, banana splits. Â Fountain drinks and 4 Gold Peak bottled tea flavors. 10 Shaved Ice flavors - you can mix up to 3 flavors in one ice.
I specifically come to G&J's for the Crepes. Â I love the Cinnamon Sugar with a "crepe scoop" of vanilla ice cream. Â Great tasting dessert crepes in 6 flavors (Funky Monkey, Pina Colada )and the option to create your own with different combinations. Â
The size of the place, though, makes me feel like it should offer more than these cool desserts. Â It could be a good start/end point for a walk on the Monon with young kids - it's paved here and safe.
I wish that I had a better review to give. Â Overpriced and just OK. Â The customer service was great! Â The strawberry cheesecake ice cream was good. Â The banana was not ripe. Â :-( Â A crunchy banana in a banana split is not tasty. Â The location is key - near to the Monon Trail. Â Kids had buckets of chalk and were writing all over the cement. Â It actually seemed like they were more interested in their chalk drawings then their ice cream. Â Oh to be a kid during the summer time. Â :-)
