This is a great Chicago pizzeria to take out-of-town guests. Â It is away from the "hustle--and bustle" areas of the city (downtown, Near North, Magnificent Mile and Near North) yet not sacrifice the "deep dish pizza experience". Â Yes, the cheese topping the deep dish pizza is delicious with whatever ingredient you choose on the menu. Â I've enjoyed their appetizers and various pizzas (thin crust too). Â The staff is friendly and most of the time attentive. Â The only drawback is finding a place to park, it can be difficult but if you don't mind walking, park in the neighboring streets.
Review Source:Disappointed! After waiting for an hour and 10 minutes when I was told my pizza would be out in 35 minutes I decided to ask the waitress she said there was a problem with the computer. Funny thing is that her friends who she sat next to arrived about 30 minutes after we did and received their pizza before we did. I asked to speak to a manager . I thinks I was complaining to get a free pizza. Boy did she miss the point that we chose her restaurant to celebrate my twin 6 years b-day. Not for free pizza that apparently takes an hour and half to make. She really missed the point that my four kids left that restaurant hungry. Not one did the waitress ever mention they were having a problem. I declined the free pizza not everyone the complaints wants something for free. You staff needs better customer service. Keeping me informed would have made me happy. I promise you this I will never return to your restaurant.
Review Source:So I came to Chicago for work and a little play. Â Of course I had t o have some deep dish pizza. Â I was told to check out this place by family and friends. Â I checked online and there were numerous locations to check out. Â I wanted to see if it made a difference, but the reality was my course was literally down the block from this location. Â We got out of class early on my Sunday evening so I ran over hear and ordered a Medium Stuffed Pizza with Mushrooms, Pepperoni and Sausage. Â It was a 40 minute wait. Â Wow. Â OK, so I sat and waited and watched TV ("Once Upon a Time" was on and I like the show so I was pleasantly occupied). Â The 40 minutes came by fast and my pizza looked GORGEOUS, smelled great and was just to die for! I took off a piece and took a bite. Â Luscious! YUM. E! Perfection squared! It was just that good! And since I was by myself and wisely ordered a medium, I would have plenty to spare. Â It was delicious hot and cold as I could eat it the next day for breakfast before my next class. Â I even had thirds and fourths as it was just SO huge and it resided in my refrigerator in my room. Â The pizza was so good that I even came back for another one during my week stay in Chicago. Â I wisely called ahead this time and just ordered the individual sized. Â Smaller, less sauce, but still good. Â I'm in love! And thankfully they deliver out of state so I'm sure once I get another craving, I'll be making my order...
Review Source:This Giordano's has been revamped and refurbished (the photo given is now outdated) and has become a nice place to dine-in for an evening with friends and family. The staff are very nice.
The pizza does not disappoint, no matter if you get the deep dish or the thin crust.
I personally like their thin crust pineapple and pepperoni. I would eat it everyday if I could...
If you are dining in, try the french fries or the brushetta. Both taste yummy.
The chicken caesar salad is also quite good as well.
after another waitress dropped off our order that was the last we saw of her, until 10minutes of waiting for our bill. Â She was at the liquor store across the street.!! Do wha!! So we have no service while she is partying!!! Ok time to get management involved.... So the manager just boxes up our food and a check. With a half apology. Â Im shocked at the lack of care or concern for customers in such a well established business. Â If it was not for great pizza I would never come back
Review Source:Some of the best Chicago-style pizza I've ever had.
It's one of those two-layered kinds, where they have the cheese sandwiched between the bread, and then they just load it on top with all the meats and spices and whatnot.
It was a while ago so I don't remember what kind we had specifically, but I do remember it was pretty good.
I have been going to this restaurant with a friend since it has been remodeled and have had a nice experience and thought  the food was good...especially the spinach pizza.  Last  Sunday a group of 5 went there.  We ordered 2 pizzas (one was half and half and it seems we were penalized for this as we were charged an extra $5.00), two people ordered  chicken  dishes plus we all had drinks.  I ordered a large salad to share which did not seem that large when we received as one person who had the chicken got almost the same size.  We ordered 3 different salad dressings and when the bill arrived they had charged us $8..14 for the salad and when questioned said it was for the extra dressings we ordered.  I have never in my life had to pay for extra dressings.  The waitress was new and apologized as she did not know about this.  When we asked about it the manager took $3.00 off but the bill was still around $80 which isn't that much for5 people but when you have 2 medium pizzas I think it is high.  The pizzas had tons of cheese on them and it seems like a cover up for the rest of the ingredients and was not that tasty.  I will not return to this restaurant nor will I recommend it to my friends.
Review Source:Let's face it, Giordano's is NOT anywhere near the best pizza in Chicago. However, in the Jefferson Park area it's about as good as you're going to get. We've had some absolutely filthy tasting hot circles of garbage delivered in this area, trust me. Sarpino's anyone? Vomit in a box.
I've found the secret to ordering from Giordano's though! My biggest complaint with their thin crust is that they always put entirely too much cheese on it. By the time it gets to your door step it's this coagulated weird sheet. HOWEVER, you can avoid this by telling them to go "easy on the cheese." This is a valid order option and they will happily oblige the request.
Always tell them you have the $3 off $20 or more coupon on the phone. The driver never asks for the coupon.
I'd avoid dining in this location. I took some friends from out-of-town over to this location and all we could do was laugh at the experience. It's apparently ran by some pretty hardcore Christians (which should have been obvious by the fact they don't open until something like 4:00PM on Sundays). There is no alcohol served here. I myself don't drink for health reasons, but I was pretty embarrassed I took my buds to a place for pizza that doesn't serve beer. They also BLAST Delilah on the radio at night during dinner service.
Not the best pizza in town but a regular standby, that's for sure. I always enjoy the pizza. I usually get the spinach pizza. I haven't tried any meat pizzas, don't eat it. I have gotten delivery and eaten there a couple times. The service is good.....though apparently waitress don't pre-bus here cause I notice this at many places.....well, the nicer places do of course. We also enjoy the Greek Salad which is good to split between several people (dinner sized). The cheese on it could be better but there are lots of red onions and big carrot slices, couple olives. Once I got the fettechini alfredo and wasn't too impressed. But I never get that dish anywhere and I was getting sick so maybe it was me (though I don't think so). The bread is good too, would be great warmed, and it comes with real, cold butter. When I have visitors and we order pizza i usually get it from here. Definitely not a bad pizza.
Review Source:The pizza is great but they are WAY too expensive. Â
The last time we ordered from there, we ordered two pizzas and we got one wrong pizza. Â It was very obvious, being the wrong size, wrong toppings, and having the wrong order number written right on the box. Â I called there and the guy was a raging asshole, arguing with me that there was no way possible they could have made such a mistake, and basically I was wrong and crazy. Â They finally brought the correct pizza back after a huge fight over the phone. Â I was so pissed off with the service and the way that dickhead treated me... We will never order from there again. Â There are plenty of other places that have just as good pizza and aren't such a ripoff.
OK, Let me start of by saying the 3 stars is based on food and parking. Let me explain:
Parking: 1 star
It is very hard to find parking. It seems they have about 5 spaces in front that say "No Parking - Tow Zone". I don't get this. It should be a 15 minute parking area for carryouts. I really don't understand this no parking area. The rest of the spots on Irving and the nearby streets are the expensive meter parking. They really need to strike a deal with one of the area businesses to use an unused parking lot during the evening hours.
OK, On to the good part.
Pizza: 4 stars
I thought the stuffed pizza was very good. There were just the right amount of toppings and it was very filling. They don't skimp on their stuffed pizza. The sausage had a good flavor and the sauce was just right.
Inside:
I also remember the old place and this is much nicer. The people were so nice and friendly, that I feel bad talking about the parking issue.
I would really like to return here again, but the parking thing needs to be fixed.
Giordano's, please find a parking lot you can share in the area.
I just stopped in this place the other night, and all I can say is WOW. Â Seriously, I didn't even think I was in the same restaurant.
They're completely redone the whole space - they even moved the kitchen! Â It's spotlessly clean and super cheerful and a 1000% improvement over the way it used to look. Â I'm way impressed.
Oh - and the pizza is still amazingly delicious. Â I'll be dining in again for sure.
Wow I am impressed! THis place used to be like the dirtiest dingiest Giordanos in all of CHicago!!! Kinda like the hipster of Giordanos.
BUT now its been redone.................New carpet, new furniture, its bigger, hell even new silverware!!!
Itsgrown from Hipster dive to Yuppie Lounge! I like it!!!!
Pizza is awesome! and for you fellow alkies..........BYOB!!!
YES AND THERES A LIQUOR STORE ACROSS THE STREEET! :)
sHAKE & BAKE SEAL OF APPROVAL.
Pizza makes me happy. Â VERY, very happy. Â So it goes without saying that this place also makes me happy. Â Great pizza, fast delivery, nice dining room, and other tasty items on the menu. Â Usually I have them deliver, but sometimes I like to go eat at the restaurant because I enjoy the nice vibe here.
