If you decide to give Go Comedy! a try, bring your depends or a change of pants. You may or may not pee your pants due to the high levels of funny things being said on and off stage. If you don't pee, you might cry. And if you don't cry, you will laugh. And if you don't laugh... well then what the heck is wrong with you!?!
I've been to Go twice now and only wish it was closer to home so I could go more often. It is a great theater space with a very comfortable vibe. The bar is great, plenty of yummy beer and spirts to choose from (many Michigan brands!!!) and there is not a bad seat in the house.
They offer a lot of variety in their show selection - so you can't go wrong. If you are looking to change up your weekly "night out" or need a little "umph" in your date planning - GO TO GO!!!
Came here to see some bands at the Metro Times Blowout  FERNDALE EDITION. It was a great space to see music in, and everything sounded great.
I kept coming back to this venue, because of the faucets in the bathroom.
I am that weird. The faucets are amazing. The bathroom stalls were clean, and well lit and nice, but those sinks!
I never realized how much faucets made a difference while washing my hands. They made me feel like a superstar.
Alcohol may or may not have helped.
This place has some rather stellar reviews and free parking, so there really is no reason for me to come back for a comedy show.
I've been here multiple times. This is a great way to augment your weekend. The All Star Showdown is a classic and is beyond hilarious. Great service at the bar and table as well. All too often, people have cliche and cheesy stereotypes to attach to improv comedy, which is due to all those tie dye shirt and suspender brigades who are out mucking up the funny business. This is not that kind of improv, this is much funnier, edgier, and just all around better. They offer classes during the day as well, and all the comic's you see came from the classes. The prices are great, it's a nice venue, and I cannot recommend it enough. The interaction the comic's have with the staff is great, and it's just a fun time for everyone.
Review Source:The first time I went here was on the first date with my current boyfriend. Â After the show I knew anyone who takes a girl here on a first date is a keeper. Â Four years later, we've gone quite a few more times.
Go Comedy is FANTASTIC. Â It's near the top of my list of favorite places to be on a weekend night, somewhere between "going to Meijer and buying things that you never even knew you needed" and "forcing my boyfriend to go salsa dancing with me."
It's also a great place for extroverts and word-lovers, of which I am both. Â I get to see a show, and I can also yell words at the performers! Â I always come up with words to yell in advance (i.e. adjectives: iridescent, mountainous; verbs: conjugate, broil; places: Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, Salvation Army). Â Somebody commented that they like to hear how loud people can be when they drink, but I'd like to remind you that many people are perfectly sober, like me (I usually have one drink). Â It's just nice to go somewhere where calling out is encouraged.
Go Comedy has been funny each time we've went or the audience has added humor to the evening (amazing how vocal people get when the drink). I love All Star Showdown because you get to win prizes (free passes, etc.) and it's interactive. You fill out cards when you arrive and they pick people to play for. It's funny because audience members put down crazy answers. The lineup changes monthly and they offer pay what you can on Sundays. Even penny pinching folks like myself can get a laugh. There isn't food, but Ferndale has so many restaurants that you can eat before/after the show. They do have a full bar for libations. The current great part is they offer sliders (from a local spot) and Treat Dream ice cream on Sundays (as of right now)! Go early if you want a spot in the parking lot or expect to pay for metered parking across the street.
This month: comedy on Thursday where you get  a discount with your library card. So for all those who say reading is dead: ha! It pays to to have a library card:-)
Well in my first review of GO I stated "I want to be a regular" and what do ya know it happened :) I gave 5 stars in my first review and wish I could up it to more .. I'm updating because I want to comment on their GO University classes now that i have finished my first one.
When I saw my first show at GO they mentioned they offer a handful of classes  - not JUST if you're trying to get into improv or acting or whatever but its helpful to anyone, in any walk of life  to gain confidence, helps with job interviews, people skills, etc. Sounded fun and it was right around New Years so I figured I'd make that part of my resolution and try it out...
I showed up to the first day of class with a notebook and pen ready to take notes about improvising or whatever we were going to talk about .... I was delighted to discover this is not a sit down and take notes class- you're on your feet playing games, doing different improv exercises the whole time. The 3 hour class flies by. EVERYONE could use more laughter in their life and class is 3 hours of just that. The teachers are awesome - positive, supportive, knowledgable, dedicated, and fun. My classmates have become great friends-- it is a fantastic place to meet new people. My class had about 14 people in it and everyone agreed that coming to class at GO is the best part of their week. Classes are about 8 weeks long and culminate with a "class show." Improv class isn't just for a certain type of personality "class clown" or "drama club president" ... my class had people from ages 20-43 and included a lawyer, engineers, business owners, sales people -- people from all kinds of jobs, some shy, some outspoken, some people had done improv before, others had not - it is a really safe place and everyones humor was unique and enjoyed.
In all honesty improv seemed perfectly terrifying to me but I have grown to absolutely love it ... my confidence increases every week & I am a much happier person because of taking class here. If you are thinking about trying class let this review be what convinces you to DO IT!! Get out of your comfort zone & I guarantee you'll love it here!
Since my first review I've been at GO between 1 and 3 nights every week & I am thoroughly impressed with this place -- the scripted shows, the showdowns, the community, the drinks, the staff, the classes, the cleanliness, the organization, the service, and now they offer sliders and treat dreams ice cream some nights as well... there are great things happening here!
Their website is well organized and makes it easy to see what classes are being offered and to sign up for them- may seem expensive but without a doubt it is one of the best investments I have made in myself. They also have options where you can earn your class tuition by helping around the theater a little bit ... hey, if you sign up for class because of this review mention me because I think I get a discount haha- am I allowed to say that on Yelp??
In conclusion go to GO.
Went to Go Comedy for the first time after living in the area for 3 years. Loved it! The show was enjoyable and you definitely get your money's worth. They are offering a class today for free, with drop in hours - I'm tempted to go, even though it's way out of my comfort zone! Will definitely be returning!
Review Source:I really enjoy Go Comedy. The performers are consistently funny (I've been 4 or 5 times over the last few years) and the servers are consistently friendly. At $15/ticket plus the cost of drinks it can be pricey for a not-particularly-special date night, but often there are 2/1 deals on the internet. I don't think my man and I have ever paid full price.
Review Source:What a wonderful time. Â Their current production '50 States of Grey' was current, creative, and perfect for this time of the election year. Â I've seen Second City Improv several times, and I have no qualms saying that this was a better show then some of those! Â Very talented cast, creative, tons of fun.
Review Source:We had a fabulous time at Go Improv! Comedy Theatre when we visited for a friend's birthday. I would highly recommend it for a girl's night out or date night, but it's not something the kids need to go unless they're college-aged! Our show had about six or seven players, and the comedy ran between light-hearted and raunchy, but I mean that in the nicest way possible. It was hilarious. Like the other commenters have said, the seating is intimate and the drinks are reasonably priced.
Great place and we can't wait to go back!
Went to the Saturday night show. Â Absolutely hilarious. Â Plus the drinks are amazing, they dont taste much like alcohol which my girlfriend loved.
In terms of the place, its small but spacious in terms of sitting and a waitress will come by and take drink orders during the show. Â The show was definitely R rated comedy at alot of times but overall very funny.
I went here last night and absolutely loved it! Â I wasn't actually expecting much because I've never been a huge fan of improv, but I found that I was wrong. Â I was laughing throughout much of the show. All of the players (2 teams of 3 each) plus the host were funny. Of course, being improv, some of the lines were busts, but overall, the show was great.
Also, from being at other comedy shows, I expected that the drinks were going to pretty expensive. I was surprised to see that the drinks were reasonably priced. Â I will definitely go back!
A lot has been said about the shows, which are just as hilarious as all of the glowing reviews boast. If you haven't seen a show, what are you waiting for, ya dummy? Go to Go Comedy!
But I'd like to do my boasting about another wonderful aspect of the theater - the classes! I'm about to start my 4th Intro class and it has been such a great, fun and rewarding experience. I've had classes with people from all types of backgrounds: old, young, professional, slacker, inherently hilarious, unintentionally funny, business people just looking for a little more confidence in the workplace, students with dreams of making it big...you name it. The best part is, no matter what type of person is taking the class or for what reason, everyone feels comfortable because Go is so welcoming and its instructors are both talented and professional.
If you are even REMOTELY interested in taking a class, I highly suggest you give in to your innermost desires and TAKE A CLASS! Classes cost $200 for 8 weeks and end with a class performance in front of friends and family. They also offer discounts for referrals and for ushering/helping out with the theater.
They also provide another performance opportunity every Sunday night. Fresh Sauce is their "open jam" - it's like improv karaoke. People sign up, they call a few up to the stage, explain an improv game and away they go. Sunday is M.A.R.V.I.N. night - pay what you want. The suggested cost is $5 and you'll get more than your money's worth if you sit back and watch the show or if you perform.
This past weekend I was invited to Go Comedy! for a graduation party and their holiday show. I don't know how I haven't wondered in to Go Comedy! before--it was was a fabulous evening full of laughter. . . and alcohol.
Situated just past the strip of other favorite Ferndale places of mine (Serendipity Yoga, Torino), Go Comedy has its own small parking lot, though there is metered parking surrounding it everywhere. I think my experience was atypical in that my friend John had reserved the space for his graduation party from nursing school (go John!) and that we were in the theatre eating miniature samosas and other Indian delicacies (catered from elsewhere) and drinking Go Comedy's delicious libations before house was anywhere near open.
Go's bar featured several specialty drinks and two house infused flavored vodkas (vanilla bean and an apple one). For my first cocktail of the evening I had a martini that totally had a clever name that completely escapes me now, but it had Rain Cucumber vodka and ginger and magic in it. It was followed by a Nilla Wafer inspired drink featuring the vanilla vodka though there was't a Nilla Wafer rim that I not so secretly wanted.
When it came time for the show, the staff seated the rest of the house at tables and the audience prepared for an evening of holiday hilarity. I haven't been to a comedy show in years. I was really apprehensive at first, thinking it was going to be a long evening of not so funny when in actuality it was quite the opposite. I am still laughing about some of the one liners. I wish the show had a longer run because I totally know some friends that would bust a gut over some of the nonsense. This particular show included sketches of a Mid-Michigan Holiday Parade/Newscast hosted by an androgynous mulleted hick and a smiley, chipper partner, musings on gift giving among families throughout different years, and my personal favorite: a look into the recording session of Vince Guaraldi's "Christime is Here!" where an angry and eccentric Vince wanted pain and despair and instead was met with nothing but cheerful screaming children. "Do you know what sadness sounds like?" "A tuba?" I'm still laughing. And everything was connected with faux ballet dancing to the Nutcracker. What's not to love? If you're still not sold, you might tell yourself it's like SNL but not on television, though without a celebrity host and live music act--okay, so maybe SNL isn't the best comparison. . . though it's what I've come up with.
I have no idea what the pricing was for the show. We were offered a chance to stay for their improv games show that was after for another $5.00 or so. I can't imagine their rates are too crazy. Drinks were also quite reasonable. I would say Go Comedy! would be a great place to take a date, friends, or anyone who enjoys laughing, and what makes it even more fabulous is that it's right here in the heart of Ferndale. The staff was courteous, and the servers were right on top of drinks during the show.
Go to Go Comedy! Laugh. Smile. Repeat.
And if you need a quirky venue for an event, I thought that having a party there was a brilliant idea.
We came here for an improv show and had a most excellent experience!!! We had preordered tickets for most of the people in our party, but had a few friends who did not preorder. Even though they had a full house, they graciously shuffled things around to let our entire party sit together.
Prior to the start of the show, they have each audience member fill out a questionnaire. Answers from the questionnaires are used as part of the improv sketch. They also ask on the questionnaires whether you would like to be pulled up on stage or not. This meant the comedians and actresses in our party got their fix, while the rest of us were reassured that we wouldn't be put on the spot to join in on the skit.
The show was hilarious, and we plan to go back again soon!!
Also the drinks were good, and it's just down the street from como's which is a great dinner option if you plan to eat before or after the show.
Go Comedy! is a treasure in Ferndale and one of those gems hidden away unexpectedly in Detroit. While the Big Three -- Chicago, NYC, and LA -- command the lion's share of attention for comedy, improv does extremely well in the second tier market of which Detroit is a shining star. The recent success Go! has seen through an array of shows, like RoboCop, and its outstanding comedy festival modeled after Atlanta's, speaks to the burgeoning audiences and established talent finding a home in this convivial, hilarious community.
Go is special because it really is part of the community. It breathes and eats Ferndale's special vibe, and gives back through a plethora of classes, shout-outs to local businesses, and special events. Look in the windows and posters for upcoming activities allude to how involved the partners and students are in Detroit, and how much energy they contribute.
Improv differs heavily from stand-up and other comedy acts due to audience participation and interaction with other comedians on the stage. Dedicated troupes and newcomers rub shoulders here with implicit ease on any night of the week. Sometimes there may be classes, other times teams square off in the gauntlet to win glory and recognition by besting their peers with the best improv that week. Musical features are also very common as they have some outstandingly talented, hilarious and quicksilver talents who do incredible things with a guitar and a satirical song mash-up. Prepare to laugh and laugh a lot.
The interior of the club is set up a bit black-box style with freestanding tables grouped here and there, giving an intimate and involved feel. Frequently the improvisers will wander through the crowd and work hard to involve them. Suggestions are welcome, the zanier the better sometimes (imagine what happens with an eggbeater, a donkey, the murder of Doctor Dolittle, and drunken cowboys...). It's a superb place to interact even if you're unsure of yourself, and they do imaginative and unexpected things with even basic fodder.
Sauce is one of the great shows that regularly pops up; their specials and rock operas are entirely worth the reasonable price of admission. It's cheaper than the movies, more intellectual and more engrossing than a bar. On the topic of alcohol, the bar stocks a broad variety of local spirits ranging from B. Nektar's mead to Detroit-made vodkas (like Valentine). The bartenders are brilliant at their craft in mixing up hellacious or divine blends; the chai one in particular gets me going every time, but ask them for something spine-tingling or unusual and you'll probably be very impressed with what you get. To wit, their martini combinations have outfoxed The Violet Hour on occasion, and that Chicago mainstay is well-lauded for its unique creations.
Go! may not get enough credit yet for being as outstanding as it is. I hope this changes for them, and in a way doesn't, because I want my weekly seat!
The improvisers here are hot, hot, HOT! Hilarious, funny, quick.
Its a well spent $15 on the weekends for sure. Especially on Saturdays. Go for the 10:00 show and stay for the 11:30 long-form dark matter show for free. I love it when my friends get on stage during the show-down so make sure you check "yes" to getting on stage on yr suggestion sheet!
If its your birthday, you get free admission, so this is a pretty frequent spot for birthday parties (how could it not be?) If yr coming with a big group of people, call ahead to reserve yr seats. I've come on my birthday weekend for the last 3 years and my group keeps growing. We always have a blast!
They have a really interesting dare-shot-list, combining things like mayo with liquor to make yr friends tummies squirm!
BIKES::: lock up against a parking sign outside.
I thought this place was the bomb-diggity. Yes, you heard right. Bomb. Diggity.
I was more than impressed with the two teams we witnessed last Friday night. These people have a true talent - it cannot be easy to get on stage and not know what you are going to be portraying until seconds before.
If you're unfamiliar with how improv works, just think back to Drew Carey's show "Whose Line Is It Anyway." It was a riot! They used audience members suggestions, so that was fun. But note you do not have to go on stage if you don't want to.
Drink prices were pretty fair. My only complaint (and reason for 4 stars) was it was a touch expensive at $15/ticket. My friend had given me a BOGO coupon, so that helped since spending $30 on top of dinner was going to be too much for this mamma!
If they lowered their prices - to say, even $10, I would go whenever I got the chance.
Thanks for keeping Detroiters laughing!
P.S. This is a fantastic spot for a date - fellas take note :)
Good times. Â Went there last night for The Gauntlet ($7) and we all got to stay for The Proving Grounds after (which, on its own is $5 but since we saw the first show, we didn't have to pay). Â Don't know if I would pay for that one, it wasn't the greatest, but The Gauntlet made up for it.
Interesting drinks too, like the BLT shot (can't say I'd have that one again though) and reasonably priced (as far as drinks go). Â No kitchen that I could see but it looks like they will let you bring your own food in.
It's a nice low key place and not too crowded... I've heard great reviews from this event. Â The price does varies depending what time -- the "Free" events starts at 11am which you are usually coming at the end of the early show.
For my first time going... I was lucky enough to get act with the people on stage. Â (I was asked random questions, then my answer would decide how the act goes).
I was unsure what to expect when I ventured over to Ferndale's Go Comedy to catch a show that my friend had written and directed. But as soon as I walked in the tiny spot, laughter permeating the air and an unpretentious, but hip looking bar to my right, I knew this place was just right for me.
Go offers shows Wednesday through Sunday and always are pee your pants funny. The cast always seems to deliver and never seems to have an off day. Every show I've been to has been well worth the few bucks I've shelled out. Actually, there have been times that I feel guilty for not paying more for such quality entertainment. The cast always seems to be on and well synced with each other.
If you get so inspired by the amazing cast at Go, the theater offers classes for both adults and children. Check the website for the schedule.
And of course, there's the bar. Go's bar offers up a fine selection of libations from beers to pitchers of mixed drinks. Try the Jackie Collins or the cucumber infused gin. You can enjoy cocktails either at the bar or directly in the comfort of your seat while watching a always side splitting funny improv show. Â One of the theaters friendly servers will bring you whatever you need.
Go's a perfect place to take a first date and I bet if you do you'll get a second and a third.
I will start this review by admitting that I don't like traditional stand up comedy unless I am lucky enough to be enjoying a nationally know comedian with some real talent (here's looking at you Daniel Tosh). However, I have found that improv comedy is a different beast altogether and because of its spontaneous nature it is an exception to my rule. It must be the collaborative aspect of improv that gives it that something special. Â Two to five (or more?) comedians, off the cuff, just going with what comes to mind and playing off of one another. Hilarity usually ensues, and usually in a down and dirty unorthodox manner. Exactly my cup of tea!
Go Comedy! is the best place in Metro Detroit to take in a night of improv. The troops they have perform are almost always great, and work well with one another. I experienced the 'Showdown' recently and it was by far the best show I have witnessed at Go!. For $15 you get a good hour and a half of pure riotous laughter. When you arrive for the showdown you fill out a question card and the answers you provide are used in the show to supply direction and theme. Fill this card out as imaginatively as possible as this will no doubt help create a crazy show. I like the interactive element that this adds to the show.
The venue itself is nice. It is small and has a great bar with house infused vodka and bourbon. They have a great tap selection and at one time featured Brooklyn Chocolate Stout! Last time I was there Strongbow flowed from the tap and into my belly keeping me very quenched and sated. The people who work here are fun also.
Go! Comedy is a good laugh, a good time and reasonably priced for a nice night out.
I've gone back to Go Comedy! a couple times since the Yelp Elite event and each time has been a blast. Â For those who plan on going remember that mentioning Yelp at the ticket booth gets you a $3 discount to the show (which makes it $12 for cover)! Â I wasn't sure if Detroit improvers could compare to the New York improv I enjoyed while living there, but my reticence was unfounded. Â These guys are truly funny, inventive, and entertaining. Â
There are different shows each night. Â The Rock-o-Matic show is hilarious. Â The comedians take suggestions from the audience and form a roughly hour long rock opera with many different scenes and songs. Â The All-Star comedy show, the signature act, is like a game show where two seasoned teams of improvers are pitted against each other and moderated by a host. Â This show involves the audience even more. Â The comedians collect suggestion slips before the show, use audience comments and ask a few people to come on stage and participate, but only if you want to (there's no pressure). Â Finally, the free Dark Matter show is a bit of a free-for-all where the improv actors can pretty much take the show where ever they want. Â Stick around for the free show, by then everyone's pretty drunk and that makes the show more entertaining.
The place is quite small and has minimal furnishings and decorations. Â The walls are painted black, there's a small stage and many tables and chairs. Â But it has a real intimate feel to the place.
I agree with Kristen G. that their shows are a bit pricey, but when you're basically the only game in town you can charge more for that entertainment. Â Plus, they have to pay the rent and they aren't as established as the UCB theatre and probably make more money from cover fees than improv classes. Â I'd like to take an improv class someday but I haven't worked up the courage to give it a go yet.
I can't wait for the next time I make it out for some hilarious improv.
What a great way to spend a Friday night! I took a half star away because the price to get in was a bit steep. It was $15 dollars for an hour and a half show. The bonus is, you can stay for the 11:30 "Dark Matter" Improv Show after that ran for another half hour. During this time, they have their Bizarro Happy Hour of $3 Dos Equis and $3 shots of Jose Cuervo Tequila. Also the drinks during the show weren't too pricey, so that kind of made up for the high price of admission. Call me a cheapskate, but it still felt awful steep for a few hours of entertainment.
As for the performance, they have a really nice variety of different Improv challenges for two teams. You fill out a comment card when you walk in and they use your answers during the show. Â It was so funny, I left with my cheeks aching from laughing so hard. There were a few Improv challenges that kind of just kept going when I felt it should have been interrupted by another challenger. For that I took off another half star. Not good dropping the momentum. The moments of hilarity that came after those stranger moments made up for the occasional humor lull.
The space is great. Not too big where it feels empty when not full but just intimate enough that there really isn't a bad seat in the house!
It was a great time with some really talented comedians, I will be back!
In the '90s, I was doing consulting and teaching gigs that had me on the road so often, the odometer on my frequent flyer card was spinning like a gas meter in winter. I was platinum level on my frequent flyer and two platinum frequent stayer cards. "Why yes, we can upgrade you to first class, sir."
With all that travel came a good opportunity to eat at some of America's finest restaurants and some of our best shitholes. If Yelp had been invented then, I would have told you all about it.
But if you haven't done extensive travel for work, you might not appreciate what a true PITA it becomes. Not only airport hassles, but the amount of shear boredom, that you have to overcome... More than you'd expect.. So I started hitting comedy clubs to fill the time. From the Sunset Strip to the Second City, stand-up or Improv, I always looked for a good laugh to kill the boredom.
I don't miss the burden of travel, but I do miss the comedy of travel. My preference has always been good improv. The cool thing about improv is it doesn't have to be fancy to be good. Take Go Comedy for example. A cozy bare-bones room, Â a make-shift stage, a couple chairs and some sharp minds is all that is needed .
The thrill of good improv is the WTF moment. The point where a cast member tosses out a line that is so off the wall, so unexpected that it blows the mind of the rest of the cast.. That point where they realize that the line they have been working to deliver was just rendered worthless.
Think fast... How do I deal with this? WTF did you just say?
The result is the entire cast has eyes the size of two Golden Eagles and they are all stifling laughs as they try to react to the game changer. It's the best part of the night and the way you can tell it's not scripted... It's Improv...
I enjoyed a good WTF moment at Go Comedy Friday night. And the cool thing was that it didn't require I remove my shoes, Â suffer a pat down, Â or a search of my backpack and no luggage was lost or harmed in the ordeal.
Bravo Go Comedy!!!
Go! Comedy is an Improv Theater that has shows 5 days a week. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. This place is great. They typically do 3 Improv Acts a show where the crowd gets involved but only if you want to be and run for about an hour and a half. This place reminds me of small DIY Improv theaters in Chicago I've been to. The shows range from $5 - $15 with the Wednesday and Sunday shows being the cheapest. If you go on Friday and Saturday shows they do an extra free show at 11:30 pm.
If you arrive a bit early they do have a bar to get a drinky drink. Oh, and I've never got tickets in advance just get them at the time of the show. This is sorta on the edges of downtown Ferndale but have their own parking lot so no worries on bring quarters to feed the meters.
Go Comedy! is a very cool addition to the Ferndale scene. Â They have shows 5 nights a week - and prices are pretty reasonable. Â
The "lobby" of Go Comedy! has a small bar with a pretty ample selection of liquors and beers. Â The evening we attended they had a hot cider and whisky special that was pretty fantastic. Â The bartender was personable - do a shot of America Honey with him. :) Â The performance space is nice and cozy- tables surround the stage area on 3 sides and it is small enough that there is no such thing as a bad seat. Â There is a server who makes the rounds during the shows - and she was super attentive, super speedy and kept me very refreshed. :)
I can see how Go Comedy! could easily be a 5-star experience. Â We went on a Thursday night for their show The Nights of Things Occurring. Â I think they should warn potential customers that certain shows are "class" shows for the students of their improv academy. Â While a few of these students were spectacular - there were quite a few who still needed some work. Â In addition, as much of the crowd are friends/family of the students - the odds of you sitting near a laughing hyena who cackles at EVERYTHING are greatly increased.
I will definitely come back to check out another show - but not so much on class night...
Went here on a Friday night for our anniversary. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Fridays are their All-Star Showdown, which was like Whose Line is it Anyway?, only funnier. We went to their 10pm show, which evidently is raunchier (they say their 8pm show is PG-13, but not their 10pm). It was hilarious, and a fabulous time. They have a good drink menu, and lots of beers. I wish they had more on tap, but all in all great selection for a comedy club. Even though it's a 45 minute drive away, we'll definitely be going back. Oh, and no smoking = win!
Review Source:We went to the 8pm show on New Year's Eve, and it was wonderful. Â I think I was a bit worried about sitting right in the front row, but it wasn't anything to worry about. Â You fill out cards that the improv group will read through, and you can indicate if you would or wouldn't like to go onstage. It actually turns out that they pick some people to play for, so if "your" comedian wins, you get a prize. Â No one in our party won, but they gave us some free tickets to a future show anyways, so that was really nice.
Our waitress was very attentive, and the theater itself was very clean and comfortable. At your table, they have pretzels, some fun-size candy, and some "go comedy" pins. Â The bar in the lobby was very interesting, too, there were some plastic animal decorations mixed in with the bottles on display. Â We had a great time!
This place is so much fun! Â I love the adrenaline rush I get from watching two improv teams battle it out. Â The improv games are so silly, I found myself cracking up at some things I never would've found funny before. Â I love the fact that this place is smoke-free and that the setting is an intimate one....not so large you feel you are lost in a crowd, but large enough to house several groups. Â A barrel of laughs!
Review Source:As an audience member and a student of their intermediate course, I cannot recommend Go Comedy! enough. It pains me to live in Ferndale and be so close to Go! and not be able to go there every chance I get. Case in point: Wednesday night is their most amazing night, with a crowd that seems to just appear out of thin air to catch the great line-up, which includes the "Launch Box" team and the open jam dubbed "Fresh Sauce."
Come for the improv, stay for the Double Chocolate Stout on tap.
We had an awesome time! Â Went on a Sunday night for Rock-O-Matic, the improv musical. Â It was a great show, intelligent and witty humor, and a talented cast. Â They haven't been open very long, so I think most people in the audience were friends or family. Â I hope more people start going :o)
