This place was renamed CANTON STAR, its' food is disgusting. I ordered shrimp fried rice well it was more like steamed white rice with soy sauce and shrimp. It was not good, I also ordered Mongolian beef and Orange chicken. Neither were good the mongolian beef tasted ruberry and the onions tasted bad too. The orange chicken sauce was too thick it was sweet and it tasted like burnt sugar. I'm so dissatisfied, save your money and taste buds. The service was fast the cashiers were polite. Still not worth it .
Review Source:Underwhelming chinese takeout. I love me a nasty hole in the wall joint and don't get me wrong, the aesthetics of Goodie Goodie are right up my junkie alley but I also really like tasty food. And sorry to say but that is not what you're gonna get here. Got kung pao chicken and it was incredibly bland. Fried rice wasn't bad, salty enough to counteract the blandness of the chicken so I guess that works out...sorta. I will say that the potstickers were quite tasty though (they're the kinds with real thick doughy wrappers).
Review Source:I've been patronizing this place for years. It seems that many Chinese take out joints have resorted to serving the prepackaged crap produced in some industrial kitchen out of state (a la Panda Express). But these guys still make it from scratch. Stick to the basics: orange/sweet and sour/kung pao chicken and the various fried rices. And order less than you think you want, because the food is VERY filling.
Edit: Here's a good tip. They over stuff the cartons of fried rice and thus they must staple them shut. The staple is made of aluminum. Be very very careful when removing it. More than once have I bit down on an aluminum staple that accidentally found its way into the food as I was removing it. It makes me shutter just to think about it.
The place doesn't look very clean. The cashier isn't the friendliest. The wait can be daunting. But their fried rice is one of a few in Chicago that is edible. Now I'm not saying it's healthy but it sure does hit the spot if you're craving.
As far as their other items, I have tried general tso chicken and it was mostly batter. It was quite disgusting.
I have also tried their beef and broccoli which was not as bad as the chicken but I would Not recommend it.
Stick with rice, I personally like the beef fried rice. I've seen the cooks eating white rice and veggies when on break so that can't be bad either.
Wow. Â Let's just say that from the moment I called to place an order to the moment I hung up was a heated conversation. Â What a rude establishment. Â I had no menu to look over and asked a few basic questions and was treated like an idiot. Â I finally told the woman that she was RUDE, and that I have never been yelled at when placing an order. Â Ever. Â What a bitch.
Review Source:i was a little nervous about ordering takeout from a chinese restaraunt in a mexican neighborhood... but i'm sure glad i did!
just your average chinese takeout. a little greasy. definitely satisfies a craving. AND they deliver! yea!
everytime I've ordered out from here I've ordered kung pao tofu. oh man. it's so good. with the peanuts and the tofu and the spiciness. and my husband gets chicken and broccoli. he's liked it too.
This Chinese restaurant was a favorite when living in Pilsen. They have your typical Chinese fare with great specials that include an egg roll and fried rice. Some favorites were the Schezwan Spicy Chicken and Sesame Chicken. Their egg rolls are really good and always satisfied. They are extremely quick for delivery. It's a good Chinese restaurant in Pilsen.
