Today, decided for lighter fare. Tried out the Chicken Breast Salad and a bowl of the soup.

Just fantastic! The soup was a homemade vegetable soup, very tasty with broccoli, cauliflower and other vegetables.

The chicken salad was a nice deep bowl of fresh greens, with cucumber, tomato, a whole sliced hard-boiled egg, and I think some green pepper. With a freshly-grilled chicken breast on top, of course. Very tasty, very generous serving size. I had it with pita.

A little different from my usual choice of gyros or fish. Totally pleased with my choice.

This is one of my favorite fast-food places.

Great staff, very friendly. Not sure if family but the employees have been there for years and treat each other and their clients like family. Food is the best in the area. Attention to quality is definitely  shown. Food always tastes great and the fries with a cup of cheese on the side is the best around. Ive been a happy client for over 8 years and always leave happy.

Okay, honestly, I don't typically eat at "burger or hotdog" stands or fast-food joints but whenever I'm home visiting my mom I cannot help but go in here. Their french fries are to die for- they're everything I would ever want in a fried potato. They're crunchy, they're salty, they're savory and most importantly they're made fresh to order so they're hot!

Goody's has a wide selection of Greek food as well as  "American" food and whenever it comes to getting gyro's elsewhere- I always compare them to this place. I don't know what it is but they're meat is delicious : )

Also, I've known the owners since I was about 8 and they still remember me so whenever I do come in now I'm always greeted with a warm welcome.

Get the gyro's plate! You won't regret it!

Its just by my house, great food, even though I realize that it is unhealthy I love the taste in everything I pick to eat. Whenever I feel to go and eat something good and cheap I go to Goodies. And the Dunkin Donuts is right next door, so it is always convenient for me to grab some food and get a coffee. The inside it's nowhere fancy, but the people that work there are fast and polite.

This is our neighborhood "gyros joint". We love it! The food is fresh, delicious, and always hot! The staff / owners are friendly, down-to-earth, learn-your-name sort of people. The steak sandwich is the only one my husband will eat in the entire city. Be sure to get it on the garlic bread with grilled onions. Yum! The gyros is yummy and the burgers are flame-broiled deliciousness. The salads are bountiful and yummy. The Greek salad is spot on. Add the chicken, it's worth it. All in all, we love Goody's and worry about moving someday and not having it so near anymore!

Solid solid solid!  Tried it a couple weeks ago when I was rehabbing the kitchen and got the gyros plate to go.  Have been back twice since - for about $8 you get a TON of not-too-greasy gyros meat with onions and tomatoes, warm pita, fries or rice (haven't tried the rice yet but the fries are basic crinkle-cut) and soup or salad (too hot for soup but the little salad comes in its own container with the usual chopped lettuce, cucumber chunk and tomato but also a couple kalamata olives tossed in and two nice-sized pieces of feta - bonus!)  Enough for more than one meal.  Gyro sandwich also good-sized.  Nothing too fancy bt what they do they do well and the value seems right to me.

We came here on a weeknight for a late dinner following an evening at Brookfield Zoo with some friends. The place is still as clean as I remember it to be when I lived about a mile away, back when it first opened. It even has a sports bar feel to it, minus the beer signs and alcohol, since there are two big TV's on the wall. One was showing the Blackhawks, and the other an NFL game.

Great burgers, hot dogs and Polish. It's also a popular hangout for local police and paramedics from Chicago, River Grove and Elmwood Park, and even my dentist from down the street on Belmont comes here from time to time. For a family of 4, we ate our fill for under $20, so it's still a great bargain.

Goody's in River Grove: I could some it up in one phrase: The best little fast food joint in the 'hood... Probably the best on the NW side of Chicago!

    But I'll go on...

Let's start with the best thing about Goody's -- the PEOPLE behind the food. Warm, friendly, helpful, always willing to serve and make their customers happy... and it shows in their food.

The food -- sometimes you forget you are at at fast food joint! My personal favorite is the pork shish-ka-bob platter. Essentially, for those who know Greek food, it's "souvlaki." Served with a side of rice pilaf or potatoes, and a pita, with onions, tomatoes and tzaziki (gyro) sauce... AND your choice of soup (the creamy chicken rice is incredible) or salad, you have enough food for TWO meals.

Of course, they have all the fast food fare you'd expect: hot dogs, cheeseburgers, gyro... and everything is consistently fresh and tasty.

Lots of room to sit and eat there, or take it to go. If you're on the NW side, near the airport, this is the place to grab lunch or dinner.

I can't believe I almost forgot to review one of my Favorite places.

I have been coming here for about 10 years.  The very first thing I ever ordered was the grilled chicken salad. It was awesome! I know it is just a salad, but... The chicken is always cooked perfectly, the cheese is melted on to it. yum. Oh and i honestly believe they get there lettuce from another planet or have a garden in the back.

Then there is the skirt steak plate for about $9.95. You get a large delicious steak cooked to your liking, topped with perfectly grilled onions. The steak is always tender. you also get a choice of fries, baked potato or rice. I get the rice because it rocks. Also you get a choice of soup or salad and garlic bread.

Most importantly no matter what you like off the menu, each time you go it will be exactly like the first time you ordered it.

And they NEVER forget anything when you carry out!

My boyfriend and I go here about 2-4 times a week.  Neither one of us have ever had anything short of great here.  The soups are worth stopping in alone  The prices are unbeatable.  You can get a half chicken dinner with sides for $5.85 + tax.  Unbeatable.  The place is family owned and run so you get to see the people behind it all.  I'm a sucker for mom and pop run places and great food.  I love it here.
