I was ordering some food when three gigantic ants went scurring across the counter. Â Their employee said they were going to fix it. Â Low and behold, one month later, I'm ordering some food and one is crawling on my arm. Â Disgusting! You can only imagine what other problems they are not fixing. Â The food is usually sub par, and I've overheard the owner being extreemly rude to his employees. Â I used to go here for the convienence factor....but giant ants crawling on my arm? No thanks.
Review Source:As a regular Metra commuter I sometimes find myself at the Western Ave station, either coming to it in the morning with express bus 33, or arriving in the afternoon to take bus 65 home. Â The station itself is an empty shell of a building with only a couple of park benches. Â Maybe in the past there was a ticket agent or something but now it appears to be boarded up on the inside so it just looks like the walls continue around the room. Â That's why I'm so glad to have Grand Cafe as an option to keep myself occupied. Â A lot of choices for coffee, orange juice, muffins, croissant, sandwiches, etc. Â I feel safer sitting inside. Â And the owners are excellent company.
Review Source:I had no idea that this coffee shop existed. Â My office is not too far from here and I was cutting down Hubbard to get to Western, when I saw this location. Â I decided that I was tired and could sure use a nice mocha to keep me warm and awake for the rest of the day.
I stopped in and met one of the owners. Â He was a nice guy and we had a great conversation. Â This place is also more then just coffee...they have sandwiches, salads and pastries too. Â It is a great stop for those who are getting on or off the Metra Train Station near here.
The Mocha was really good and I look forward to coming back here and trying a sandwich for lunch. Â The prices are also not that expensive.
