Laura A. said it best:
"Cabbage Rolls looked beautiful. I soon discovered that they were not only nearly room temperature, but the filling was 99% rice. There was barely any visible meat, and flavorless aside from pepper. As for the sauce, I'm convinced it was Campbell's Tomato Soup. The Potato Pancakes were just ok. They did not include applesauce, and the sour cream was in a little paper cup, which was was inside the food container, soggy, collapsed, and spilled everywhere."
This was exactly how my experience was, especially the sauce for the cabbage rolls, minus the part about the pierogi. I actually really liked those. I'd like to add that my potato pancakes were doused with that red sauce because they were shoved next to the cabbage rolls. It would make more sense to put them in the box with the pierogi I ordered to keep them dry. But then again, my sour cream would most likely smeared all over those too.
I have a polish background and the women in my family make very great polish food. However, I don't live with any of them and today isn't Easter or Christmas, so I had no choice but to order from here in order to satisfy my craving (ok, I had other choices, but I didn't want to drive, reviews said this place was good, and they deliver). Unfortunately, more than half of my cabbage entree was thrown out :(
The food was okay, but cheap. Â We ordered cheese&potato pierogis, which were very cheesy and decent, as well as meat pierogis, which were a bit bland/dry. Â Now, this may have been because they were sitting for a while after they had been cooked.... enter my story
Brief synopsis of my encounter: I wanted an order for delivery to be delivered at 7pm for a Girls' Night In. Â I call at 3pm (when i had a chance) and they refused to take my order and told me to call back at 630pm and place it then, which was fine because I didn't want them to write the order, put it aside, and forget about it.
I call at 630pm and was told that they didn't have someone to deliver my order. Â Would I like to pick it up? Â Sure. Â It will be ready in 15-20minutes. Â I explained that I was sorry, but I physically could not make it there in 15-20minutes (I was in the middle of putting groceries away and I live 20 minutes away). Â I was told 15-20 minutes again and the conversation ended. Â
I leave my apartment at 6:53 (they close at 7) hoping and praying that they would still be open when I get there. Â I arrive, tail between my legs and out of breath at 7:10 to see that the woman (an owner?) was waiting for me! Â YAY! Â I paid for my bajillion pierogis and went on my merry way. Â Was the food bad? Â No, it really was pretty decent. Â There is better in the city, but I don't know whether or not those places would have stayed open just for me.
