I was pleased to see that the closest place to buy booze near the new apartment is a beloved slashie. This one features the scariest name+facade combo I've seen in these parts: drunk guy decal on the sign, horror-novel font "Hangover's", all in a sort of lavender hue. ? The inside is spacious and pretty clean, though also weird. The floors slant a bit, the walls are at angles, and it's mostly lit by neon sign, television, and black light. ?

Beers in the fridge next to the bar are basic (domestics, Zywiec, Modelo, Stella) and reasonably priced, the bar offers the basic, the place is clearly a familiar spot to the local Polish clientele, and the staff is friendly (if not always 100% with the English).

This bar has the coolest owner ever (well, he's the owners son, but he pretty much runs it).

The crowd (regulars) are SO very welcoming and nice.  I used to live a couple blocks away, and this was my regular watering hole while I lived in Chicago.

As others mentioned, it is spacey looking, but that's part of the charm.  It's small, yet comfortable.

I wish they had bars like these in California, great great people and value!

The liquor store is good because they have everything you could need and it has very reasonable prices.  Also if it says $10, you pay $10.  No tax.  Rob the owner/manager is very nice and will buy you a drink even if it's your first time there and your minding your own buisness.  The jukebox is taken over, so don't even attempt it.  I've heard everything on this juke box.  The bartenders are very cute and very nice.  It has a very polish atmosphere.  There is no food, but they have the pizza place (La Villa) from down the street in there all the time making deliveries.  Decor Decor Decor.  Funniest looking bar from the inside you've ever seen.  Like a scene out of the twlight zone.  Clean restrooms though.

the only reason why this place is awesome:
if the band, poison ever mated with the movie, grease. this bar is that child. especially, if that child grew up to be a second-string jock.

when it comes to local watering holes that are one block away from my apartment, my standards are non-existent. that said, i really don't mind this bar/liquor store. the pool table is always open, the drinks are cheap,  the bathroom is clean and the patrons are harmless.

the internet jukebox only plays shitty pop-metal or reggaetone (which clearly reflects the patronage.) to ensure my happiness, i make sure to play the knife and enjoy the horror on everyone's face.

Okay place to go, kind of small but it has 3 major flat screens that can make a game enjoyable. Last time I was there, they only had two beers on tap. Bummer! But at least they have good prices on there drinks and bottles. Make sure you have cash, and dollars to dominate the juke box.

This review is for the liquor store part of the slashie.  I haven't had time to go to the bar yet.

The sign says "Hangovers" painted purple on white with about the character of one of those decals where the cartoon is pissing on the Ford or Chevy symbol.  The inside is even scarier.

Half the room (the bar part): the room is this weird white color, the walls are slanted all crazy, there's black lights shining, and there's TVs everywhere.  It either looks like a futuristic space-station battle from a laser-tag arena, or from some really spaced out 1970s rec room.  The other side of the room is a simple refrigerator with beer and beyond that a room full of shelves housing various liquor bottles.

The bartender who checked us out was pleasant enough (and another one of the good looking Polack girls in the neighborhood) and the beer was nominally priced.

I've got to go back and have a pint here!  Weirdest vibe ever.
