Uber-expensive sandwiches. Â Hard to justify the price for what you're getting. Â And the sides are so small they are almost a joke. Â They should be free. Â Why would someone pay extra for a bag that has 4 chips in it or a mini-cup of almonds that you can finish in one bite? Ridiculous.
They earned an extra star simply because pretzel bread is always a good thing and you can't get it at Subway or Potbelly or Jimmy Johns (at least, not that I am aware of). Also, I appreciate that they have vegetarian and vegan options and have them separated on the menu for easy identification. Â They also get a thumbs up for being an alternative to fat-Chicago eating. Â We need as much of that as we can get.
$12 dollar lunch?! Â What kind of fool pays that much money for lunch?!
Thankfully, my sandwich was one of the best ones that I have ever eaten and it made my mouth sing with joy and almost made me forget about how much money I spent on it.
I had the Organic Turkey and Farmhouse Cheddar on the infamous pretzel bread. Â It came with apple crisps, field greens and a roasted pepper aioli. Â I loved the combination of all the ingredients and everything was very fresh. Â The aioli gave the sandwich a little kick, which I appreciated, but it did not overpower the sandwich by any means. Â The apple slices brought a nice crisp, sweet and crunchy element to the sandwich. Â
Make sure to check out the wall of chocolate! Â My eyes almost fell out of their sockets and my mouth definitely was salivating! Â I swear, I would try everything if it wouldn't make my waistline expand. Â They carry Vosges, B.T. McElrath, Ritter Sport and lots of other high-end chocolate brands. Â Thankfully they do have some bite sized samples in case you don't want a big bar. Â I mean, c'mon, you and I both know that you do, but getting the smaller one makes you feel a little less guilty, right??
The employees are very friendly and this location offers plenty of seating as opposed to their shop on Washington Street. Â This one is almost steps away from my office, which is a big plus. Â I love that the ingredients are organic and that the shop is environmentally friendly. Â Overall, awesome sandwich shop, but due to the high cost, I will have to limit myself!
My friend and I met up at this Hannah's Bretzel location, near Dearborn but with its entrance on Adams. Since I would be out of the country for the Thanksgiving holiday, I naturally gravitated towards the sandwich called Thanksgiving 365. This baguette sandwich featured turkey, cranberry chutney, and brie cheese. Although I was not bursting at the seams like I would be after a standard Thanksgiving feast, the sandwich and side of house chips was a fine weekday lunch. They also sell gourmet sweets and beverages here.
