Wasn't impressed by their sushi at all. Seemed far too overpriced for the quality and quantity of the services rendered. I was in a group of 4 people and we were unsure as to quantity so tried to order more after the first round. The wait staff did not check on the food or return in a timely manner to take the additional order. When we were finally able to order a second time the rolls came out with hair in them. They were kind enough to return and make a new batch, but it took longer than the first time. We left without having an enjoyable experience, having paid too much, and not having had our waters refilled. I would not recommend.
Review Source:I went there on a real cold night (a few nights ago) and the only reason I mention is this is just to share a word of Caution: don't sit by the doors. It's not a big place by any means, only a couple tables in the front area, but it's DRAFTY by those doors. Anyways.
First, I tried the miso-glazed salmon appetizer. I'm not sure what they were going for here, though, because that didn't taste like miso. And I love, love fish (and salmon especially), but I really just didn't care to eat this. Eh.
Then, one of my go-to to-try-out-a-sample-of-a-place's-fish dish, Chirashi-zushi: What happened? Was someone playing Thanksgiving in the kitchen? There were so many extra THINGS piled up on what would be an otherwise normal chirashi, or well, what would Actually be chirashi-zushi. It's a clever way to use all the cucumber rinds (and more! wait....) from the cucumber rolls. Kudos for not wasting, I guess. Also, there was some Costco seaweed salad and squid salad in the bowl. Except the squid salad, though identical in contents to the Costco kind as far as I could tell, was even gooier than the Costco version. And the rice desperately needed more vinegar! So, overwhelmed and confused, I tried to eat everything that Didn't Belong first, but eating half an avocado makes you quite full, quite fast (wait, I didn't mention that that was sitting in there, too?). But then when I did that, and accomplished normal Chirashi-zushi status (just my fish and rice), I was plainly reminded how...plain the rice was. This was a battle I couldn't win.
[i should mention that the escolar was good, and perhaps the best that I've had, but I wouldn't suggest you to go and order ten pieces of it with a drink to comprise your dinner; I didn't and haven't personally experienced any escolar-ic side-effects, but there is apparently a  reason it's banned in Japan and Italy, and others stick it with warning labels...(look it up if need be, eww).  So good job on the escolar, Happy Fish? Maybe? This is a questionable congratulations. Oops, Happy Fish, oops.]
The unagi sushi was alright, but it was cut rather thin and the rice portion was, again, not vinegary enough. Additionally it was a rather large round mound that could eat the fish itself (aka too much).
They're trying to "up" the traditional cuisines, but personally, I enjoy my Japanese food traditional. Plain grilled salmon, chirashi-zushi un-"spiced-up", and well, I guess, just figure out the portioning on the sushi. When I'm old enough to legally drink in  a restaurant, I might come back for that. Those look promising -- green tea and midori liqueur, and ginger vodka. Mmm.
