Harry Caray's Tavern

PLEASE READ!
My wife and I decided to stop by last night as this was out first experience in Chicago. We both ordered drinks at the bar, followed by the Italian beef sandwich with Mac and cheese. We where not super hungry and had just decided to split the meal. The service was great and the food came out super fast to which I was surprised about because they where somewhat busy being a Sat night. My wife had gotten only about a bite into her sandwich when she noticed that there was mold on her bread. I am partially color blind and couldn't tell so I mentioned to her to ask the bartender. We where discrete about it just in case it was something else we didn't want other patrons to think anything bad. He took one look at the food and immediately took the sandwich away without saying anything and also had a pissed off look on his face. The look was not geared towards us but more so that he couldn't believe his kitchen just put out food like that. He came back with the GM's card and said everything was comped and if we had and issues to give them a call right away. They offered us a gift card but we declined as I don't think we will really be back. It was unfortunate that we will never be back as I really liked this place and the service was great, but we won't be able to eat here again. Went yesterday  with my family for lunch and had an overall great experience  The food was good.  Not great but not bad either.  I thought the prices were a bit high.  I must say our server was great.  I have a mentally disabled child that does not understand volume control and can be very loud and abrasive  Our server, David, was very kind, understand and accommodating,   This was quite refreshing because nine times out of ten our family is constantly ridiculed and looked down upon.

My cousin and I were walking Navy Pier and wanted to stop somewhere "iconic" for lunch in the Chicago Downtown area. I was really excited to try Harry Caray's, not just because of the name but because I wanted to try the food. We were seated right away, there wasn't very many people during the mid-day on New Years Eve. I was surprised to see the lunch menu and how limited it was. I really wanted soup and salad but the only soups available were french onion and chili. My cousin and I decide to order the pretzels and a Margherita pizza to split. The pretzels were really good and so were both the sauces it came with! The pizza was OK, nothing special. Our server also wasn't the greatest, pretty distracted and not friendly. She did let us know she had to work NYE later that night at a club but I was somewhat disappointed with her attitude. After lunch, we decided to walk around the restaurant and notice all the cool pictures and items in the display cases. I loved the ambience of this place but not so much the food or service!
