This place is NOT CLOSED a/o 9/14/12.
Went here on a whim after scoping YELP spots in the area. I'm glad we came.
The service from Corey was amazing as was the food. We had a Chianti bottle for 4 ($34).
Brussels sprouts were decent as was the zuchinni.
All the pastas we ordered were dope. My favorite was mine, the fusili fungi -- if you like mushrooms this is the one. It could have been creamier but it's probably better for my waist line.
The gelato for dessert is a must.
I've been eating Edwardo's since I was in the womb.
No, seriously, Mom's Edwardo's cravings are legendary; but that's beside the point.
Okay, fine. Everyone in Chicago knows that Malnati's is probably the best pizza in Chicago-- BUT, no one ever really hypes Edwardo's, the clear-cut and well-deserved second place pizza.
In a town where pizza is as competitive as hockey is in Canada, that's saying something!
I mean this stuff is seriously delicious, NOT TO MENTION the fact that Edwardo's can give you something that Malnati's simply DOES NOT OFFER: Stuffed Pizza.
Now, the stuffed spinach pizza is legendary, but I'm pretty certain you can get any kind of pizza here stuffed.
What's the difference between stuffed and regular deep dish, you asked?
Stuffed pizza has another quasi-layer of crust covered in sauce OVER the mounds of cheese and toppings. It's awesome.
Ingredients here are always fresh, pizza is never soggy, the sauce is perfection.
I will cop to some bad years for Edwardo's about 5-7 years ago, but for whatever reason those days are looooong gone and now they are most definitely on the upswing.
Eat it, you won't regret it.
I was hoping the chick did the math wrong while on the phone with me. But a delivery order of a small (12 inch) thin crust Edwardo's Special pizza at $13.95 (per the menu online) plus delivery charge should not total $24 and some change. I called twice to verify my order and still came up with $24. As indicated on my receipt, the pizza itself is $20 plus a $2.50 delivery charge and tax totals $24...and change.
Holy shit. It would have been way cheaper (by like $5-ish) to order via Grubhub, which is usually the opposite, at least in my experience. Yeah, yeah, call me cheap, but that's just a little ridiculous. Maybe it's a sign that I get off my lazy ass and not do delivery (or pizza).
By the by, this location is going through new changes, I think. They included new menus from what is now called Edwardo's Enoteco Wine Bar & Pizzeria. Hrrm. Perhaps this change is why my friggin' pizza was more expensive than I was normally used to. Sheesh.
