WOW. Â That's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Havana Rumba. Â This place is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Louisville. Â Please don't come here thinking that it's comparable to Mexican food because it's not. Â In fact, there's very little in common. Â The tostones are a must-have - fried green plantains with chicken, cheese, and pico de gallo. Â The service is awesome, the atmosphere is inviting, and the food is unbeatable. Â Definitely check this place out!
Review Source:Oh Havana Rumba, I wish you were in California! Â This was our last meal of the trip to Louisville KY and my husband says the best- I say it tied with another restaurant BUT THE OTHER WAS MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE.
I loved my food, I loved his food, the bread was spectacular, the waits weren't long.
Very generous portions, as others have mentioned prices are on the high side.
Thoroughly enjoyed the beef empanadas - they were perfectly cooked and very well seasoned. Â Also had the Fricasee de Pollo - extremely generous portions, I had sizable leftovers for lunch the following day. Â And, the congris is very delicious!
We had very good experiences at both locations and I'll definitely return here!
We took a trip to Louisville to shop at the Zappos outlet, etc. Â While driving around, we found this place here on Yelp and decided to try it out.
It is in a little strip mall in a rather non-descript neighborhood. Â Reasonable parking places outside. Â We sat at the bar (we like to sit at the bar when we can).
I started with an Ultimate Mohito. Â Good rum, but a little too sweet for my tastes. Â Later on, I tried a Cuban Punch. Â That was better but a little too coconut-y.
We had just appetizers including the Chicken Empanadas (they were great), the Papas Rellenas, the Cuban Tamales (a little too sweet again), and the seviche du jour (shrimp).
Looking around at others, the sandwiches looked great. Â We will certainly visit again the next time we're in town.
My wife and I ate at Havana Rumba for the first time last night. Â I had heard of good reviews and they were confirmed. Â The menu offered lot's of choices in beef, pork, chicken, seafood and vegetarian. Â The server wasn't overly friendly but he was prompt and efficient. Â We were both surprised at how fast we got our meals served. Â The food was very good with lot's of flavors. Â While I prefer some spicy heat the food was spicy without the heat. Â Very good restaurant. Â We will return.
Review Source:Havana Rumba is my favorite local restaurant. It is a little pricey so I don't get there very often. I have never had a bad experience. The servers are friendly and attentive and the food and drinks are outstanding.
The margarita swirl (margarita and sangria) is my favorite drink. It's not on the menu anymore but they'll still make it if you ask. I've already decided that it's going to be my first alcoholic beverage after I give birth. I also love the papas rellenas. The Parilla Habanera is a fantastic option to share with someone and you'll definitely still have food left over.
I went last night and I'm already ready to go back, though I think I'll wait a few more weeks until I can enjoy a margarita swirl with my meal.
Torn. First, I felt guilty for spurning Havana Rumba for her hot younger sister Mojito. But after returning to Havana Rumba and being completely "wowed" by my experience, I'm not sure which to choose.
For the last two years, Mojito had been our go-to spot for Cuban food. Then last Saturday we decided to give Havana Rumba another whirl and were absolutely amazed by the food. My wife and I decided to split the Parilla Habanera which comes with their Palomilla Steak, Roasted Chicken (Pollo Asado) and grilled Spanish chorizo. Our sweet waitress let us substitute the Steak Chimichurri for the Palomilla Steak and then because the Roasted Chicken wasn't available, we substituted it for the Pollo a la Milanesa. That made for the perfect trifecta of Cuban deliciousness.
We knew the flank steak with chimichurri sauce was going to be delicious (because my wife gets it every single time we go to Mojito), but the Spanish chorizo and the pollo a la milanesa were unexpectedly incredible. The chorizo is sliced lengthwise and then grilled to perfection. The pollo a la milanesa is a thin chicken cutlet, breaded, fried and then topped with ham and melted provolone cheese. Amazing.
At $30.99 the dish was a bit pricey, but there was enough food for another small lunch for us on Sunday. As always, the service was friendly and efficient. We even had additional waitresses come to our table to fawn over our little girl (now if only that got us a discount...).
So where does that leave us? For two years, Mojito had been consistently good and my wife loved their Steak Chimichurri. Havana Rumba has the same dish and just blew us away with their Parilla Habanera. See what I mean? Torn.
Have eaten here and their other location a few times now and will continue to do so as we love good Cuban food. Â Having lived in Miami we know what authentic Cuban should taste like and Havana Rumba serves the real deal and at great prices. Â All their pork and steak dishes are excellent, with the same attention given to all their side dishes. Â Desserts are well executed too and we always order their coconut milkshake. Â Service has been friendly and efficient on every visit.
Review Source:I wish this restaurant brought itself and it's magic to NYC.. Last time I had delicious cuban food was in Miami.
I came here for a team dinner after checking out their yelp reviews. The place had a festive caribbean vibe and was filled with energy.. The waiters were friendly and food was great. I didn't have any drinks but my colleagues loved their margaritas and mojitos.
I had their Encilado de Camarones... shrimp cooked in tomato creole sauce.. YUM! I had this in a miami-based cuban restaurant and I craved it ever since.. This place satisfied that craving. There were quite a few chicken, beef, and pork dishes that circulated around the table. All of them were amazing.
Don't miss this restaurant.
Seriously... You see it already has over 100 reviews and nearly 5 stars why are you reading this! Â Go it's great the Mojito is awesome. Â The staff is friendly. Â I had the plantains and guacamole. Â It was probably the greatest chips and dip combo I've ever tasted. Â Never even imagined plantains and guacamole. Â Have you? I order the Ropa Vieja. Â Which is a beef dish that was cooked to perfection. Â It also came with a generous portions of grilled pepper, onions and olives in a delicious wine sauce. Also on my plate where grilled plantains that were tender juicy and fantastic. Â I went with three other people and everyone ordered something different and everyone was more than pleased with the quality and taste of their dish.
Review Source:Over the past couple of years I had several work trips to the Louisville area and would eat at Havana Rumba at least twice a week. Â Wonderful! Â Wonderful! Â Wonderful! Â Reminded me of when I lived in Florida and had authentic Cuban food there. Â If you like Cuban food and you understand Cuban food you will love Havana Rumba. Â I don't need to ramble on because I can't add anything that hasn't already been said. Â Love that restaurant and hope I'm in the area again someday.
Review Source:The mojitos are the draw of this place for me. It's too far away and not in a great location for bar hopping to justify coming here just for drinks, so I like to go out for dinner here when I've eaten a late lunch. Ok, more on the important stuff: mojitos. There is real genuine sugar cane sticks in 'em. Gotta love a functional garnish. Fresh mint sprigs are placed on top too. A 5 star kind of yum. Â
Maybe my taste for Cuban food just hasn't developed enough yet... But while I've found everything here to look and sound great on paper, it never ends up being flavor and juicy enough to make me head over heels for Havana Rumba. The rice, which is impossible to avoid if you want to order an entree is just that: rice. The sides are all different takes on rice, potatoes, beans and plantains. On one visit, my friend and I ordered the dinner for two with steak, chicken and chorizo and the server was exceedingly helpful in letting us know we could replace any of the rice, beans and plantain sides with other sides. We chose the seasoned versions, and that was definitely my favorite full meal at Havana Rumba.
Overall though, I'll stick with the alch and tapas. This restaurant is really best enjoyed with a big group sharing tapas; the croquettes are what I grab for first. Service is really accommodating to large groups and this is a great place to take a lot of people. We had about 10 people one time at a few tables pushed together.
The atmosphere is superb. It's usually busy so there's high energy, but people are spread out enough so that its not an overwhelming environment. They sometimes have a guitar player performing in one of the dining rooms and though the decor is lively and colorful it keeps class intact. The cigar box labels on the tables are a interesting touch.
Happy hour alert! They offer $2 off on original mojitos on Monday and Tuesday from 7-10pm and Wednesday and Thursday from 4-7pm.
Havana Rumba is deceptive.  As we pulled the parking lot for the first time, guided by  GPS (you won't find it without one), I thought "great this place is a hole in the wall what have I gotten myself into?!?!"  However, as we were being immediately taken to our table I felt as thought we had truly been transported to Cuba.  The atmosphere in the restaurant was intimate and exotic.  The restaurant is really amazing once you are inside.  Â
The food was beyond amazing. Â I ordered the Chicken Ropa Vieja and my boyfriend ordered the Havana Rumba sandwich with sweet potato fries. Â My Chicken Ropa Vieja was warm and comforting. Â This winter I think I'll want to eat it every day. Â It has just the right amount of spice and a delicious layering of flavors. Â It paired perfectly with the rice and black beans with which it was served. Â My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed his Havana Rumba sandwich. Â He said that the sweet potato fries were one of the best things he has ever eaten. Â
Between the great atmosphere and the amazing food, we will surely return to Havana Rumba many times again. Â What a wonderful find!
You could have rolled me out of this place. First off, the mojito I had was amazing. A great start. The guacamole is a must here. The accompanying plantain chips were good by themselves. I had the salad with fruit and avocado, my boyfriend had the pork butt. We mixed all of the condiments with everything-they all complimented each other. I can't wait to give this place a second try.
Review Source:Stopped here in the late afternoon during a short visit to Louisville. The vegetarian empanadas were delicious, and the entrees were pretty good, though my girlfriend's vegetable skewers were fairly bland. If I went again I'd get the Havana Rumba sandwich instead of the chicken/potato entree.
Review Source:A few of my friends and I made reservations for a Saturday night, and we were bad customers and arrived 20 minutes late due to traffic. As a testament to how delicious it is, Havana Rumba was incredibly busy and we were told we would have to wait for about 45 minutes to an hour outside before we could get a table for 8.
Incredibly, service was divine and put together a table for us in under twenty minutes. While waiting, we ordered a pitcher of peach sangria, which was refreshing and delicious but nothing incredible.
I ordered the pollo asado, which was pretty middle of the road, however a few of my friends ordered sandwiches, ceviche, and plantain chips + guac, all of which looked and tasted INCREDIBLE. The sandwich came with delicious sweet potato fries, the ceviche was very fresh, and the plantain chips were so wonderful!
Where Havana Rumba really wins is with their service and staff--all were incredibly friendly and warm, bringing us out some house-made hot sauce (ask for some--it's great!)
So the moral of the story is: make reservations, order a sandwich or plantain chips + guac, and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere!
I would recommend this as a great place for large quantities of good and interesting food. Almost everyone in our group found something they were excited about eating and most went home with a to-go box.
I'm not sure what distinguished this place as Cuban, rather than just Latin American fare, but I've never been to Cuba, so what do I know? I was surprised that we still had a pretty long wait, even though we made a reservations, but we were able to find a nice spot at the bar and once we were seated, the service was very fast.
I was very happy that I got the sampler Tapas platter because I was able to try a range of different foods. I wish I had saved room for dessert; The Havana Banana looked amazing! I recommend reading the menu carefully when you're deciding what to order. My friend ordered a shrimp dish and was disappointed because it wasn't anything particularly impressive since she thought she could have made it herself. On this note, I don't know why she ordered a seafood dish. We were in land-locked Kentucky after-all.
Note that Havana Rumba has two locations. I've heard that the other location has a little more of a "Cuban" feel to it because of the decor. (But again, what do I know?)
When I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by an enthusiastic waitress who seated us in her section. When we ordered, she got excited again because we ordered her favorites. We had the Lechon Asada and Vaca Frita along with a bowl of shrimp soup. The Vaca Frita was AWESOME. The shrimp soup was the sopas del dia but should be a regular. The Lechon Asada was a little on the fatty side but was super tender. I was pleased by the yuca that came on the side - a rare treat outside of Southern Florida or the Caribbean. We also enjoyed the pick-me-up of a Cafe Cubano (Cuban coffee) on a dreary day.
The restaurant decor, by the way, is the opposite of dreary. Lively Cuban art lines the walls and the tables have embedded cigar box lids. The colors are bright and the decor is tasteful tropical.
Prices were just right and the service was good - above average speed for Cuban restaurants. Overall 4.5 stars but I'll round up to 5.
I went to Havana Rumba for lunch on a Sunday with my boyfriend, while we were in town visiting his family. When we arrived we were greeted with cheerful staff and smiling faces. We were seated at one of the high-top tables near the bar (by choice) where my boyfriend immediately ordered a mojito. I decided not to order anything to drink when I saw that there was Tres Leches cake on the menu, that's one of my favorite desserts so I wanted to save room for that!
I ordered the Masas de Puerco which consists of pan fried pieces of pork covered in sauteed onions served with congris (black beans and rice cooked together so the rice picks up a dark, near black color as well) and fried plantains. This meal was fabulous. The pork was so tender that it fell apart with slight pressure from my fork. The flavor combination of the pork and the sauteed onions was incredible. The fried plantains were perfectly cooked, crunchy on the outside, soft and piping hot on the inside, and the congris was delicious and perfectly seasoned. My boyfriend ordered Fricase de Pollo which was served with black beans, white rice, and fried plantains. The black beans were really tasty. Overall the dish was good, but we both agreed that the masas de puerco was better.
For dessert we shared a slice of Tres Leches cake which was served drizzled with raspberry sauce and a few blueberries and raspberries on top of the cake. It was phenomenal.
The overall experience was wonderful. Excellent food, attentive friendly waitstaff, and reasonable prices.
A few days ago, I had a hankering for a good Cuban sandwich so I decided to stop at Havana Rumba for carryout. I ordered the "Havana Rumba" which has Cuban-style roasted pork, Spanish chorizo, Serrano ham, Provolone cheese, mustard, pickles
and aioli on hot pressed Cuban bread, served with sweet potato fries. Excellent food and service! I would like to go back for dinner and try the other dishes. They usually have live music in the restaurant on weekends; being a huge fan of Cuban music, I look forward to it...
My fiance and I made a date night out of this little treasure, and it made our must return list! Let's kick this thing off with an ode to great customer service. If anyone knows another word for 'beyond amazing' insert it here! From the courteous hostess to the server who ran out the door with the takeout box I left on the table, [don't know if that was the mojito or just me being my forgetful self] the staff was quite fab in book. Our waiter made sure we enjoyed every portion of our meal, and offered to replace whatever we didn't like. If I could remember his name, I'd give him a shout out!
And on to the food.I love love love me a tamale, so I couldn't exit this place without trying one. Picture perfect and super tasty. I could have made a meal out of those things! But I didn't :)
The fiance had a tomato based chicken dish that he absolutely loved. I did chicken as well -- half of a baked chicken -- I think. What I remember most are the fried plantains. So good! I've dabbled in cooking up my own plantain creations at home with not so great outcomes, but these little things kept me smiling the rest of the night [and the next day -- thanks to that waiter who came to my rescue].
I mentioned the mojito in passing earlier, but it deserves more credit. It was fresh and authentic, and nothing like the syrupy concoctions some bars come up with.
Give this place a try!
Welcome to the new game show, "Who's Up for Review?" with your host of hosts, ME!
Today's business on the block is none other than Havana Rumba.
ME: "Welcome to the show, Havana, nice to be here."
HAVANA: "Glad to have you here, T"
ME: "Sooo, Havana, you may not realize it but this is actually my 2nd visit and sorry to say, the first was entirely unmemorable."
HAVANA: "Really? Why do you say that, T?"
ME: "Because I don't remember it."
HAVANA: "Fair enough, why do you remember this particular visit?"
ME: "Glad you asked. First, I have to say, the memory is not entirely up to anything specific you did this time versus the other time, your food is fantastic, the atmosphere as lively as ever, the service was A-OK (could be better, but I think there was a language barrier.) Honestly, the memory is entirely due to the company I kept so really it's on me (them) but keep up the good work."
HAVANA: "Oh well, thank you, I think..."
ME: "Hey, no prob, my pleasure, by the way, your steak chimichurri is da bomb!"
HAVANA: "Thanks. Is that what you had?"
ME: "No, I had the Lechon Asado. Wonderful slow-cooked pork but not as good as the steak. Thankfully, my friend shares. She's good like that."
HAVANA: "Sharing is good."
ME: "Yes, it is. Oh, one more thing..."
HAVANA: "Yes?"
ME: "Your younger sister, Mojito Tapas, she is hot!"
HAVANA: "This interview is over..."
Hearing "Havana Rumba" gets me salivating for the Camarones al Ajillo like one of Pavlov's dogs hearing a dinner bell. Â
The atmosphere is festive and energetic, and I've always felt like I could be at a nice restaurant somewhere in the Latin American region when I walk through the doors. Â Service is generally fast when I go there, and I would absolutely recommend putting in an order for a mojito the first time the waiter comes around. Â Served with a fresh mint sprig and a sugar cane, Havana Rumba mixes up some of the best mojitos around. Â I'm only disappointed that they don't serve them in larger glasses :)
Feel free to order from the dinner menu (ropa vieja is one I enjoy here) but I could make a meal out of the Camarones al Ajillo. Â Plump, fresh shrimp sizzling in butter and garlic with dash of spices and lime - they literally pop in your mouth as you take a bite, having been cooked to perfection. Â
Bright, festive, and teeming with delicious food, Havana Rumba is one place not to miss for your own fiesta in the St Matthews area.
We are in town for a day. Â Read reviews and gave it a try. Â We haven't eaten
a lot of Cuban - but will definitely look for more opportunities if this is what we can expect!
Walked in to amazing smells of tasty and spicy vittles cooking. Â Had a perfect mojito and beer for hubby and started with the appetizer sampler - everything was yummy but we used all of the pepper sauce up.
Dinner portions were big - we couldn't finish our entrees after appetizer - if we lived local it would have been a good lunch mañana, but sadly I left some well seasoned chicken and potato stew and my husband left a plateful o' pork!
Bill was 47 bucks for two entrees, two drinks and appetizer. Â We loved it, nothing to complain about. Â I even left my purse (blame it on the mojito) and they brought it to us in parking lot. Â Bonus word score!
Havana Rumba, based in the heart of St. Matthews, is a place for parties, a romantic dinner or a place to hang out with your friends during lunch. The decor is appropriate and right on with the Cuban style my wife experienced during her time in that country. The "bongo-esque" bar stools are a nice touch to keep things unique. The photos from times pass on the walls and under the shellacked table tops are welcoming and enjoyable to read or peruse each time I visit.
The wait staff is very professional and know the menu well. Keeping the wait staff mostly Cuban is also a great way to keep the place authentic. The food is always consistent and have not had a problem yet over the last 6 or so visits over 2 years. The only strange things I find on the menu are the large pieces of fish or chicken that are plainly breaded. I must be missing something but I just don't get it. The empanadas are the restaurant's staple food. Always a delight and always good. The Yucca is also something unique to the Cuban and South American cuisine that is hard to find in the 'Ville.
From what my wife and friends say, since I do not drink, the drinks are very good. Best known for their mojito's, they leave everyone smiling.
My only complaint for Havana Rumba is they don't stay open late enough on Friday or Saturday. It would be the perfect place to go after and evening at the theatre.
If you want something that is not Tex-Mex or Spanish and want something Cuban, go and Rumba away!
Lechon con Asado. Yes please.
I mean there's really not all that much more to say.
Except that their Mojitos are amazing and will git. you. drunk.
Oh and the ropa vieja is far more appetizing than the name "old clothes" might imply.
And the yucca frita is some of the best cooked yucca I've ever had.
So it turns out I could keep going. Â Just go there and experience for yourself.
Loud, Lively, and Lovely.
I debated between a 3 and 4 star because honestly I am not a fan of Cuban food. I have been to Havana about 5 times now and have tried multiple dishes. Unfortunately, I am not a black bean, marinara, and rice kinda gal.
Every time that I go, the drinks are fantastic, the service is prompt, and the atmosphere is lively. There is even live music from time to time in the dining room. I have tried multiple dishes to see if I cannot just find a niche, but to no avail. As you can see from the other Yelp reviews, I keep going back because it does have an incredible taste for those who enjoy Cuban flavor.
Every dish comes with at least a fried plantain, fried rice, or beans. I prefer a little bit more color on my dish, but thank goodness the rest of the place provides this for me.
Another of my local favorites. Introduced to it by one of my local friends, I've like this place since my first visit. The atmosphere is comfortable, the service is great, and the food is fantastic. I don't care much for plantains which come with everything, but that is a personal taste thing.
I LOVE the Vaca Frita. So delicious. And *possibly* just as good the second time around as leftovers. I've tried other dishes, but I keep going back to this one. My mouth waters just thinking about it....
I decided to try this place when I was in Louisville with my mom & brother. I'm pretty much never there so I won't be eating here very often & that makes me really sad! this place was sooooooo..... good! I can only wish that they would open one in the Northern Kentucky/ Cincinnati area someday. Honestly this place is so good though, that I wouldn't mind making a day trip down to Louisville centered around eating at this place.
I had the Ropa Vieja, my brother had the Pollo Empanizado, and I forget what my mom had but I tried all 3 meals & they were all really delicious. We all ordered off of the lunch menu so the meals were only like 7.50 each & it came with a lot of food! We also had an order of the Boniato Frito (sweet potato fries!) which were amazing! I don't like sweet potatoes, & I've tried sweet potato fries before that I didn't like, but these were just amazing! They came with a really tasty sauce to dip it in as well.
Other than that, the service was great, the atmosphere was great, they had a really nice set up outside that would be awesome to eat at in the summer, & everything on the menu looks really good.
I wish I could go back now & that's really saying something since I'm not even hungry. To all of you people who live in Louisville or are visiting there... go there now! You won't be disappointed.
I vote yes, yes and yes! Â First of all when you go to Havana Rumba a mojito is a MUST. Â They have all sorts of flavors and put a stick of pure sugar cane in your glass. Â I personally recommend the raspberry! Â
The food was great, moderately priced and the servings were large. Â Be sure to go to this spot early or do the call ahead seating because a weekend night is packed. Â
The wait staff could be more attentive, but I am forgiving that under the circumstances of a busy evening.
I am going back and forth between 4 and 5 stars.
Food - excellent.
Mojitos - yummy
Service - very good
For me the only downfall of Havana Rumba is that it is packed all the time. Okay, so double edged sword. Of course you want the food to be so memorable that everyone wants to go, but then again, not a big fan of super long waits for a table, etc. We got super lucky, having called in our name on the waiting list and getting there early we managed to get a table. But it was super crowded and the tables are a bit closer than I care for.
That being said, everything I've had here was amazing. I had the fish with an aioli and rice and beans the first time and this last time I had the pork that was listed as a house favorite. It was very tender and flavorful even without any sauce. It had definitely been slow cooked with care. And I had yukon potato stuff that looked weird and then was kinda awesome. Very moist and flavorful. It also came with a nice dark rice with black beans. Mmm. And the fried plantains that come with almost every meal were of course lovely. Perfectly crisp on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. A nice finish to the meal.
We had a nice sampling of Mojitos at our table: Standard, Mango, Raspberry and Strawberry at the table and after tasting them all my verdict is that Raspberry is the winner.)
I went into Havana Rumba with great expectations. As evidenced from the many positive reviews on Yelp, Havana Rumba is well revered. I had already been to Mojito and loved it, even further building my anticipation for Havana Rumba. Finally, my wife and I tried to go here back to back weeks but diverted our plans twice, once due to an unexpected closure due to electrical failure and a second time due to a very long wait. Needless to say, by the time we finally made it to Havana Rumba this weekend, expectations were very high. Even with the high expectations I think Havana Rumba would have been able to deliver a satisfying experience, I certainly wanted it to. Unfortunately, I just couldn't bring myself to be overly impressed.
Much of my reference point for my trip to Havana Rumba is my prior experience at Mojito, as well as the underrated Habana Blues in New Albany. The decor and overall atmosphere of Havana Rumba was nothing special, in my opinion. The service was fine, but again, nothing out of the ordinary. The drinks (original cuban mojito for me) were again serviceable but nothing special (they are better at Mojito in my opinion).
Of course, you really go to a place like this for the food, and while I enjoyed what I had, nothing really stood out. While reviewing the menu and later when eating my main course, I also got the feeling that I just prefer the overall tapas eating environment with Cuban food. Sure, Havana Rumba has a few hot and cold tapas offerings, but it is clearly a more traditional meal set-up when compared with the other cuban offerings in Louisville. I feel that these dishes work better in smaller quantities that allow you to sample the variety of excellent flavors that cuban cuisine can yield.
For those interested, we had the Camarones al Ajillo from the hot tapas menu and I had the Lechon Asado for my entree. To reiterate my previous thoughts, I didn't have any strong complaints in the food served or the preparation style, but the flavors simply did not wow me. As a final hail mary attempt, we decided to order dessert, as many a borderline meal has been made or broken by that final dish. The Havana Bananas definitely were calling our name (and it's their signature dessert!). Really, this dessert amounted to a scoop of vanilla ice cream with flambe bananas hidden underneath. Perhaps this dessert was a fitting end to the meal, as it was definitely par for the previous set course, average; nothing special.
I know that this review probably sounds pretty negative, but I did have an enjoyable enough meal. The combination of high expectations with the knowledge of other, much more appealing Cuban offerings in the Louisville area make it difficult to want to return to Havana Rumba or recommend the joint to my friends or other Yelpers. If you are a regular Louisville Yelper, you've likely already been to this place and have your own opinion of Havana Rumba, making my review moot. Or, you're like me and are probably going to make your way over to Havana Rumba at some point, regardless of one or two tepid reviews. If you do, let me know, I'd love to hear your opinion. I for one, feel that Havana Rumba is one of the few Louisville restaurants on Yelp that may be a bit overrated. Actúe con precaución.
