Great place, great prices, and there's nothing else like it in the neighborhood.

AWESOME RAMEN ! Great bi bim bop.  My wife and I go here probably once a week....very good prices, and super nice staff. I'm so glad we have more choices on Morse.  It's a BYOB too...which is nice to have.

Not the best sushi in Chicago, but considering it is only two blocks from my apartment... it'll do.  The fish was fresh, as was the rice.  The rolling was a little shoddy, but I don't care too much about that.  The people who work here are nice, and service was prompt!  I would definitely recommend Hira's to anyone in RP.

I was visiting Chicago this past weekend from Nashville and the weather outside was very cold, so I needed something to warm me up. I stopped by Hira's Cafe and was so glad I did. The service began as soon as I entered the restaurant. The hostess immediately greeted me and was very kind. She actually turned the heating fan by my table on because I mentioned I was freezing. I ordered the Seafood Ramen (spicy), and it was just what I needed. It was loaded with fresh tasting seafood (scallops, muscles, squid, shrimp) and the ramen was cooked perfectly. The menu at Hira's offers a nice selection and the prices cannot be beat would recommend Hira's Cafe.

Well..... I ALWAYS try new restaurants... I don't live far from here and I love sushi so i tried this place.... not good, and would not recommend... I got Chicken Teriyaki and Philadelphia rolls, both were just put together poorly, and pretty tasteless... the Chicken Teriyaki was OK once I took it home and added seasoning, but who wants to pay for food they have to fix??? The cashier was a little rude... overall, not good, won't go back...

Big fan of their ramen - the seafood ramen is the best.  Not sure about the other reviews criticizing the ramen, but I like it better then the ramen you find at Mitsuwa because Hira uses beef base over pork/chicken.

I've only ordered the Brave Man roll, and it's a lot scarier on paper.  It's really not as spicy as it sounds, but it does have a lot of flavor.

I'll definitely be back to try other things.

Dropped by on a Friday night - harder to find neighborhood (non-metered) parking...but metered parking still available right on Morse. Had to bump Hira's up to $$ since we usually order ramen and a bibimbap dish along with some rolls...and we're paying more than we would at Korean establishments in Albany Park (and getting less). Wish there could be more variety in non-sushi options...

But I'd still say, above average for RP and it's here in the neighborhood. Anywhere else I'd be rounding down to 3 stars.

New neighborhood place, just tried it for the first time.

I had the Sushi Deluxe Combo, and it was very affordable for the quantity and quality of sushi that I got. My girlfriend had a Chicken Bento Box, and it was good sized and very good.

The atmosphere is, well, very basic, but I sort of strangely like it. There is also plenty of room, and they don't have the tables jammed on top of each other. The lighting is a bit harsh, but that's kind of my only real complaint. If they installed dimmer bulbs or unscrewed about half of the lights, it'd have a bit more inviting atmosphere.

Service was attentive and friendly. No complaints.

Have I had better sushi? Sure, but if I've had better sushi that was this affordable, it was in San Francisco, where there is GREAT sushi.

All in all, an excellent addition to the neighborhood. I'm sure it'll be a good local option, and make it into the take-away rotation for sure.

Reviewing a new restaurant has a lot of weight. Especially on Yelp since most people will look at star ratings rather than the review usually. This puts me in a position I usually don't like to be in, to lie and help a new restaurant or actually just talk about the overall experience and hope the owners learn from the review.

So to be fair, the service was more than good, it was exceptional. Granted I was one of the only three people eating there but still, the server did her job well.

The two stars unfortunately comes from the food. The items I ate was the spicy tuna maki and the kimchi ramen.

The spicy tuna roll was...ok. Nothing to go home about but nothing that immediately makes me ask to get the check and take it all to-go. As we all know regarding sushi: it is all about how one prepares the rice. In this case, the rice was cooked and chilled, that is it. The fish wasn't too rotten and overall it was not bad for a cheap price in Chicago. The place is BYOB so bring some hot sake and glasses since they don't have any.

I ate the ramen next, just to compare, unlike places in LA the items presented on the menu are fairly generic like "gyoza ramen" and "chicken ramen". I decided on the kimchi ramen and well, it basically tasted like Samyang Ramen powder with veggies and kimchi. For those who never stepped foot in a Korean super market, it just taste like ramen I could make at home and put more flavor and spice in it.

    Where there might be potential:
Bibimbap is a Korean mixed rice and veggies dish. It means literally "mixed rice". It typically  has spicy pickled radish, marinated string beans, cooked spinach in sesame oil and garlic, a specific kind of Korean brown root, chopped red lettuce, sesame seed oil, a fried egg, beef, and go chu jang (red pepper paste). I didn't order this dish because well frankly   Korean food is awful in Chicago BUT watching it be prepared, it seemed pretty true to the recipe. Perhaps if I come by again I will give it a shot. So if you stop by try out the Bibimbap.

The good: service, BYOB (No corkage fee), fairly cheap and reasonable prices
The not so good: The ramen

Great food, very fresh, amazing price. Great service.  We live in Rogers Park, & my roommate is from Japan.

I had the kimchi ramen, and it was unremarkable. Actually, if I wasn't so lazy, I could make a better bowl of ramen at home. Packaged curly noodles, in some broth with kimchi. One notable thing is that they make a beef broth based ramen.

My dinner experience started auspiciously. I ordered egg rolls. I took a bite and they were ice cold. The waitress apologized and took them back to the kitchen, where they proceeded to nuke them. They came back out hot, but also half eaten.  Our half eaten egg rolls were returned to us as is.

Overall, meh really does sum up my review. I won't be back.

I really enjoyed my to-go lunch from Hira's Cafe today. I got the Mexican Roll, the New York Roll, and the Sweet Potato Roll, as well as the cucumber salad. Everything was fresh, tasty, and they have many interesting-looking menu items. The waitress even gave me a free coffee while I waited! I will definitely be back.

Had the gyoza ramen for lunch today, so yummy! The broth was salty and had a nice kick, they offered to make it less spicy. The gyoza were delicious!
The service was very good and fast, the waitress gave us a sample of the kimchee which was also tasty.
