Decent gaming, and atmosphere. Nothing special to talk about. Never saw a jackpot won - no real excitement. VERY, VERY LOUD -
Are the machines rigged?
Do you need to ask?!!!
Lots of suits walking about trying to look important and busy. But try to find someone to fix a machine......seems like that's the problem. Not many hostesses around, and did see one housekeeping staff member.
You get $5.00 to fill out a survey - no wonder they are always "#1" in categories.
Lunch buffet is mediocre, at best.
At least Sunday buffet has crab legs and prime rib - used to have oysters and shrimp, but not lately. Service is good.
I'm really not a casino person but I've been here a few times with my fiance. In the summer it's really nice to go and watch the horse racing. The dining options are good from cheap to expensive. I've never won big here but it's nice that they have free soda on the casino floor. We went here for Halloween and the Monster bash. Very fun and the costumes were incredibly impressive. It was well organized but based on the number of entries, took a long time for the entire contest to run and end. My friends won some casino cash. What sucked though was that my friend had to take her wig off to go through security, then she put it back on. Within the next minute, another guy stopped her and told her to take it off when the other officer let her put it back on. The emcee for the night also said no masks in the casino but never said a word about wigs. She was very ticked off so we left. There are no live dealers here. Everything is done with computers. As far as Indiana casinos go, Blue Chip in Michigan city is my favorite.
Review Source:Its a bit more of a drive to get to this Anderson dive, but more times than not the drive seems to be worth it.
Old, dank and full of smoke this joint has it all! Â Similar to Indiana Live with a couple different/good changes.... Â
There are multiple roulette tables that bring gamblers closer to the physical wheel. Â The touchscreen interface is not quite as smooth as the one in Shelbyville but overall its a better experience.
Hoosier Park also makes available the monthly results of their slot machines. Â So you can see what's "hot". Â Its corny and useless but also interesting.
The High Roller room looks more like a game room at your local bowling alley.....no glitz or special services offered here. Â No big deal I wasn't expecting The Venetian.
Hoosier Park is a must for you degenerate gamblers....check out Colt's Camp during the day then unwind with some Double Diamonds at night.
Nothing like Vegas, but the buffet is cheap (nothing vegan, maybe steamed broccoli) everyone else seemed to be enjoying it, crab legs prime rib lots of dessert and a sweet ice sculpture. The casino is nice they have free soda machines but you have to purchase alcohol, there are friendly waitress who come around or the big bar island in the middle of the casino, I never win anything there but my grandma always does lol.. I enjoy playing the electronic craps table although it's not as exciting as Vegas... But it's fun for something to do.
Review Source:Ok, first let me say that I am extremely pleased that Anderson has a casino. Â When you walk in you forget that you in Anderson. Â The buffet is very good and the price cut in the afternoons makes is just as affordable as any other place. Â Still very pricey on the weekends, though. Â The pasta bar is awesome and the ladies that cook that are too. Â One of my faves. Â Now about the gaming...I'm not a fan of digital cards but that's not the fault of the casino. Â I do, however, think that it is very hard to win on the digital...don't know if computer payout is set too high, or what, but the dealer seems to get some tremendous hands! Â Lastly, they are brining in some great concert acts so I'm loving that!
Review Source:I love the buffet at Hoosier Park. Â I eat there at least once a week. Â Unless you go on a weekend (especially Sunday brunch), the price is very reasonable. Â They have a pasta bar that is amazing. Â You choose from several different types of pasta, choose a meat or vegetable, choose a sauce and they will cook it all up on the spot for you. Â It's delicious.
They also have a great dessert bar, including hand-dipped ice cream.
My wife and I decided to track up there for the 4th and try their buffet. The price was outrageous....but the lady at the cash register was nice enough tell us to register at the customer service window and get some big discounts which brought our meal under $20 for both of us.
That's about where the good stuff ends. They had the buffet set up for a brunch....but there was more breakfast items than lunch -supper items. The whole set up was cheap. Cheap imitation butter for the cold crab legs (funny I thought they were supposed to be warm to hot), no mashed potatoes, even no Equal sweetner on the tables.
We did eventually make it to the slot machines and I did win some money. The slots were fairly loose and I went home with about $60 more than I came with, so it covered the gas and food costs.
As with any Casino, I get so depressed at seeing the senior citizens playing their hard earned SS money. They sit there in their horrible makeup or old union ball cap and play with the excitement of a person waiting for death to come and take them.
This place is no different.
The only really positive thing I can report on is the free drinks on that you can get yourself at a self serve island. There are two that I found at opposite locations in the casino.
So go for the gambling....but if you are expecting some really wonderful food experience, forget it!
For someone who enjoys the atmosphere of a casino, I really didn't like this very much. Â I enjoy gambling with real dealers who interact with you, and seeing and sharing the experience with others at the tables. Â Everything is electronic at this casino and while that makes for quick play, the personal touch is taken away. Â What my husband and I love about Craps is rooting on the rollers and seeing what other people bet, so you can bet against them or with them. Â What we enjoy about poker is reading faces and seeing piles of chips in front of us, as well as, our opponents. Â What we enjoy about roulette is talking with our neighbors and betting the same numbers and getting excited when we hit. Â
This is the quietest casino I've ever been to...no one was rowdy or excitable about a win, b/c they didn't have anyone to experience it with, so it definitely made for a subdued feel to the whole place...other than the noise of the slots and the automated "dealer" telling you when you had to stop betting, no one spoke to you. Â In addition, this caused the staff to look bored and uninterested in the people at their tables. Â
Overall, I was genuinely unimpressed with the technology and it seemed that although it was packed, no one was having that much FUN. Â I mean, it most likely advocates excessive gambling b/c it's definitely a good place to hang if you are addicted and don't want anyone to see what you are losing...I mean, there is no limit to the amount of money you can spend in the machines and no one ever knows how much you have.
On a side note, my husband and I ate at the buffet, which was not bad at all, but we would not spend the money again (we were treating ourselves out for a "date night"). Â Holy hella expensive batman! Â I hate buffets....the crab legs were good but the salad options were not so extensive. Â They did have a fresh pasta bar, but I avoided it though it looked delicious! Â They offered a wide array of desserts and I splurged on a chocolate cheesecake and some chocolate covered pretzels...but for $25 per person...um, no. Â They claim to the be voted the "Best Buffet in the State" or something of that nature...not so sure there is a huge amount of competition in the area, but it was definitely not the best food I've ever eaten.
For a date night, it was fun but it is not something that will be high on our list again. Â I would much rather be in Vegas!
I don't know about virtual blackjack or poker - I'd rather have humans deal.  I like to play craps, but I'm glad there's no vitual craps.  No nickel VP unless you want to play 5-30 hands at a time. The food is expensive - $11 for a Johnny Rocket's single combo??? It looked about the size of a Wendy's combo at more than twice the price.  I can't comment on buffett because I didn't go.  When there's live racing prices food & drink prices aren't as obscene. You must pay for drinks while you gamble at casino  unlike Nevada.  I had to wait 20 minutes for drink one time while playing VP.  Live racing is mostly during day now instead of night; I liked night.  Seating for horses and # of tellers aren't as much as before casino; you can find a TV table easily on non-peak times.  It can get really crowded on big race weekends like the Derby.  I used to go a lot before casino and there was plenty of room about any time.  It's only 25 minutes from home, but I only gambled there twice after casino first opened and I'll wait for Vegas later this year.
Review Source:I went to Hoosier Park to check out the video poker tables. Â I must say that I went in expecting to not like them, but came away impressed. Â You get the benefit of sitting across from your opponents and the speed and accuracy of a computer dealer. Â There is no dealer to tip and the rake is very small compared to other poker tables in the state. Â I was able to see a lot more hands due to the electronic dealing. Â I think not having chips makes players play a little looser than normal. Â I could be wrong, but there were a lot of all in bets. Â Unlike Indiana LIVE, there is a whole room of e-poker tables. Â The poker room is smoke free, it is far enough away from the slots so you don't get the barrage of slot sounds. Â I was there for hours and didn't smell like smoke when I left. Â The bad news is I don't have to drive real far to get a live poker game.
