One of the best cafes. By far. As someone who grew up in a culture where cafes are the place to be- eat, drink, people watch, and of course, be seen, I'm disappointed time after time with some of the cafes in Chicago- it just doesn't have that je ne sais quoi.
Enter Iguana.
The crowd is not pretentious and you definitely won't feel like you're fresh off the boat- there are no hardcore Euro guys & gals, and everyone is pretty laid- back.
The atmosphere is great- and I'm all about the atmosphere. It's a small, intimate, and friendly environment. The staff acknowledges you immediately and the service is attentive.
The food is even better. I've only had the crepes- both savory and dessert (with nutella of course!) and they were perfect! The menu also boasts a pretty nice list of drinks- wine, cocktails, all the good stuff- try the pina colada if you can't get enough of sickly sweet drinks like me. Love 'em!
