The music venue is awesome! Great acts and a cool, smallish space. This is a fabulous addition to the Birmingham music scene. I haven't even looked at a menu there, so I can't comment on the food.

Thursday nights are awesome!  They do a live radio broadcast that is free and open to the public followed by a free local show!

Iron City for lunch on a Tuesday--parking is not great if you don't work close by, but we managed!  This is a great place that my grandmother and mom, of all people, introduced me to.  So hip!

I had the buttermilk friend chicken---decadently delicious!!!  I had to try the cheddar beer soup---but in the end, it was honestly much too heavy for me.  And I love cheese!!!  My mom had the ravioli--yum!  She ordered a side salad.  Not worth it...it's a great selection of greens, but there was hardly anything there...
My in laws both had the salmon burger.  I think I'll order that one next time ;). My grandmother had the fried catfish.  Not good, though.  She complained to me a lot about it.  There's too many other good items on the menu, I'd pass on the catfish if I were you.  She did like her gumbo, thankfully :)

I hear they do concerts too!!  I'll have to look into that because Id love to see the event space and take advantage of a new, hot venue on Birmingham.  Did I mention the space if very and open?  That equals loud......not great for groups if you want to try and catch upon conversation.  But really overall, friends, I like it!

Whoa! This place is awesome! I stopped by Iron City last night to hang with the Lochamy brothers during their radio show and left wondering why the heck I haven't been hanging out there regularly. From the street it can be hard to tell what you are getting into, but the inside is amazing.

It is divided up into 3 parts; The "bar area" is spacious and clean with plenty of bar space and a great selection of draft beer, wine and cocktails. It even has a small stage that's perfect for an intimate music(or radio) show.

The "resturaunt/grill area" is Rouge Tavern meets Buffalo Wild Wings with the same great beverage selections as the bar, large TVs, waited tables, a full restaurant menu(I would be remiss if I didn't suggest the salmon burger!) and a small stage for yet again more live music.

The main attraction at this venue though is the "main stage area". It consists of a large stage-front floor bordered by stage-height seating/standing area and then a balcony that borders the perimeter of the room. It is designed for great views of the band from every square foot with traffic flow and bar access in mind. You can see a headlining act on this stage and feel like it's a private show.

If you haven't been to Iron City yet, put it on your short list of Birmingham venues to visit as the summer kicks off!

What a great place to see a show. Sounds great and looks great too. If you have time come early and eat at the restaurant next store and try the Mac and cheese with crab meat

I was finally able to catch a concert here the other night. Not only is the Iron City Grill top notch the concert venue is state of the art. They have a large floor for standing and  two levels of seating above the floor. The stage is massive and can accommodate any type of band. The bar area is great as well and I had no problem at any time of the night in walking straight up to the bar and ordering a drink as there were 3 bartenders most of the night covering everybody.

All in all this is a great addition to the Birmingham concert scene. I look forward to seeing many more shows at this venue.

I had the pleasure of visiting the recently-opened Iron City venue for the first time the other night, and I was extraordinarily impressed with every single thing about it. It's the sort of music venue that Birmingham has needed for a long time, something large and nice enough to bring plenty of notable acts to town and accommodate the size of crowds they'll draw. And the kicker is that in addition to being a top notch music venue, Iron City's also a wonderful restaurant and bar. Do yourself a favor and swing by Iron City for an after-work drink and dinner sometime and check the place out. You won't regret it.

Three stars because this place showed us a mixture of superb architecture and technology, but crappy attention to what new customers might need.  We came to hear Roman Street and Juka Tribe.  We walked in the door on the restaurant side and saw a guy playing guitar on the stage.  We didn't know any better, so we assumed that is where the music was going to be at 8 PM.  So we sat down at a table.  We were about to order, but something kept nagging us that there wouldn't be enough room for the belly dancers, so maybe there was another room.  So we looked around and found the place where the music was going to be.  Again, we had never stepped foot in the place.  So we settled in front of the big stage.  We thought it was pretty dead for a concert that started at 8, but we still had no way to know that the music was going to take place over on the warmup stage.

There weren't any servers that we could see, so we went to the bar to order a beer and something to eat, and were met with the most surly, sarcastic attitude I have seen behind a bar in a long time.  The bartender didn't want to wait on us, and it was quite apparent.

We were struck by how beautiful the place is, by how spacious the restrooms are, and by how perfect the sound is.

I would have had a drink in my hand all night, spending at least thirty more dollars than I did, maybe more, had there been a server to wait on me.  There was no way I was going back up to the bar.  My advice would be to put a couple of servers on the floor, and to hire someone to go around and talk to first-timers about how the place is supposed to work.  We felt pretty disregarded, overall.  Thank God the music was killer and the bellydancers ethereal.  We had a blast, even with all the frustrations.

    I'll definitely go back there.

IN. CREDIBLE. Yes, I'm talking about the venue, but also the salmon burger.  I was expecting amazing, but in all honesty, my expectations were far surpassed.. Very pleasantly surprised over here!

I went in a little after 8PM tonight, on a Tuesday night -- which also happened to be Local Musician's Night -- and just set up camp at the bar with my favorite Avondale brew and split the salmon burger with my friend, which, after the first bite, was really hard to share. It was that good. The sweet potato waffle fries that came with it were just an added bonus to the awesomeness. We knew the restaurant side closed at 9, and I felt bad even asking at 8:30 if we could order food, but it was absolutely no problem and the food was sent to the bar and devoured within the next 10-15 minutes.

I want to stress just how accommodating and friendly the staff were while we were there: I really appreciated the awareness of the staff at the bar; they were a stellar balance of attentive and aloof, so whenever I had a question, they were ready to listen, but they were also respectful of my time with my friend and my beer.  The guy heading up the Local Musician's Night was also extremely knowledgeable of the entire facility, and shared a number of facts about how the place is set up for shows. I love that the bar is centrally located in both the main room and the openers' stage for shows.  And the fact that the venue has been set up to avoid audio delays of any kind, so that the sound is "soundly tight" across the vicinity is seriously awesome!  Dude even explained how the rooms went through "sound treatments" and gave examples of how they use a digital access via iPads for sound checking, with the doodads and jibber jabbers that I couldn't keep up with even if I was technologically savvy.  It was all very impressive, to say the least.  I'll be interested to see how everything turns out after they build what he described to be a walk-up ticket booth with street access, and the shows really kick off here -- soon.  But I know I'll be back before then, there were several other items on the menu that I want to try!

If you are looking for a friendly staff that can handle pressure this restaurant is not for you!
It took a very long time for someone to come take our order which was a man with a booger hanging out of his nose who did not tell us his name or expressed any interest in taking time to take our orders. As we were rushed along, I ordered the crab cake sandwich and my friends ordered the Meatloaf special and their burger. After waiting a while, we received our food which was a disappointment. My friend's meatloaf was average with a lot of runny brown sauce, my other friend's burger was supposed to be medium rare but was well done and looked like I had grilled it myself. For $10, a burger should look more appealing and not have condiments that are from a packet. My crab cake sandwich was on a hamburger bun  (which was too much bread) with an interesting mix of cold tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and a watery red pepper sauce on a crab cake that had nice flavor but was very soggy and not very warm.
After having our food for a while, the server never asked how our food was or offered any service. He did not even know how to use the computer and got so frustrated that he took it out on our table.
Needless to say, this was a waste of 1.5 hours for sub-par food with awful service.

I went by for lunch this Friday and I made sure that my party and I got there early. I think the entire experience took 1.5 hrs and it seemed like the failure was across the board.

First the food: It took a long time to get food and the various burger plates we ordered were skimpy, had poor produce selection (e.g. brown and wilted), and they were kind of plain in the flavor department.

Now the service: it was worse. Our server was rarely seen and requests for refills were ignored so our glasses remained empty most of the time. When the food came our server neglected most requests for condiments and two other people that worked there dropped the ball on these requests as well. That situation was only remedied by visiting the bar area and by that point the food was nearly cold. This whole issue seemed silly to me because they could eliminate a major headache for everyone if they just bought bottles of ketchup and put them on the tables. It took an extremely long time to get checks and then almost as long to get my card back. While we sat around and waited up to the 1 1/2 hour mark we decided to advise an inquisitive group again eating there and they dodged the bullet.

Overall experience: I wasn't the only person having a bad time, but I was the quietest about it. I must have seen 5 different parties have fits during lunch and I watched at least 16 different people decide to head back out the door. They need to fix everything about that experience pronto if they want to survive.

Lunch was hopping but we quickly got a table.  The place is stunning and really raises the bar for the area. Servers and the kitchen are still trying to get the flow down so everything was running a little slow.   We chose the wild mushroom raviolis and a crab cake sandwich.  The raviolis were quite good and were up there with my homemade version.  My only suggestion would be a drizzle of truffle oil on top.The crab cake sandwich needs some tweaks.  The thick kaiser roll, overpowered the delicate taste of the crab. The crab cake was nicely seasoned but was really mushy and a bit cool in the center.   A little more cooking and a lighter bun and I'd give the sandwich a A+.

We loved the candied walnuts on the side salad.  It was a really nice touch.

Iron City is poised to be a major player.  Can't wait to give them another go.

This entire facility is about to change the way we see shows in Birmingham.  The people behind this place have taken their time, done their research, and spent a pretty penny to make a beautiful facility that is at the forefront of technology.

The decor is classic and devoid of any current style.  Behind all of the aged wood and iron, you'll find a sound system that rivals that of any facility's in the country.  Even the multiple small stages for acoustic acts are rigged to perfection.

The grill's menu ranges from "bar food" to nice steaks and grilled fish.  I hurried over for lunch on the first day that they were open.  Even though I wanted the buffalo wings and drummies, I opted for the more healthy spinach salad with grilled salmon.  The salad was a smorgasbord of flavor with bits of bacon, dried cherries, apples, and more.  The salmon was a bit on the bland side, but it didn't bother me.  I also got a side fruit bowl that was clearly fresh.

Even if you have no need to, check out the bathrooms.  They spared no expense.
