I truly couldn't rate the food here tonight. After being seated we waited 5 minutes until we retrieved our own menus. Then another 5 minutes before we got up and left. Maybe it wasn't enough time to give them a chance but the couple who came in after us were seated had drink orders taken and appetizer order taken and we never even received a glance. Sad but we were on a schedule and couldn't risk a 3 hour dinner.

Mary Jo makes a mean martini....she listened and made it exactly how I wanted it...and that is freakin' service!!!!!  Had the fish and chips and the fish was good the coleslaw was excellent and the tartar sauce was tasty........the fries could have been improved upon nothing special there but not bad......Hubby had some jambalaya and he states it was marvelous....we enjoyed this little hometown bar and I see myself becoming a regular.....

Good place to grab a drink and after work bite to eat! My colleagues and I come here for happy hours sometimes. They have a variety of beers on tap and in bottles, including local brews, which I appreciate. Good prices, especially on the bigger sized beers. They also give good recommendations.

Parking is usually easy after work. They have a small outdoor patio area, which when the weather is nice, is fun to sit at.

I've had snacks here before, which are good. I like their bosco sticks (stuffed breadsticks). The last time I ordered, they only had 2 left (there are 3 in the order), and they gave them to me for free. Score!

If you're in the area, stop by. Service is quick and it's good!

One word...WINGS. This is where I go when I want simply good wings. No frills, no special sauces, but just really great buffalo sauce and crispy wings. Believe it or not, it is possible to get wings that are too big. Here, the wings are perfectly sized and prepared fresh to order. I can always tell when wings have been previously cooked and them dropped in the fryer again to "warm them up". I don't mind to wait the 13-15 min it takes to make great wings.
Also, this place has very friendly waitstaff who are always happy to make a suggestion to accommodate said wings. They are attentive without being annoying and remember your face and sometimes even name. I haven't been enough to expect them remember my name...yet.
If you care, it is also consider a Nebraska bar. I only mention it because I have a couple of friends from Nebraska and it's always fun to pop in for a beer at a "Nebraska bar" when they visit. Personally, I'm an Illini fan, so that should give you something to truly be upset about.

I've never been to the location itself- but recently ordered food from here via a restaurant delivery service.
We ordered the Bison Burger and Shane's burger- both were delicious and were done wonderfully.
I would certainly recommend giving this place a try.

Neighborhood pub fare and everything that comes with it.  Deep but not profound.    Locals/regulars, wierdo's, intellectuals, authors, blue-collars, white-collars, no-collars, cold beer, good liquor, great food.  Any night is a good night to meet here with some friends and enjoy each other's company over what ever it is you enjoy with your friends.  Plus you can't beat the prices... Is it really in Clayton?

A friend and I were attending an event down the street from J McGraugh's and decided it was pretty boring and that we wanted to relocate & watch the baseball game, and we discovered this place using the Yelp app. After a couple glasses of wine we both thought it would be fun to try someplace we've never been, so away we went. I cannot say how pleasantly surprised we were!

When I think of J McGraugh's, I think of one word: regulars. This place was full of 'em, and that's my favorite kind of bar! Clearly the people inside the place spend a lot of time there because they all know each other and looked at us kind of funny when we walked in. Not in a bad way, just as if they were surprised to see new people. We grabbed a table by the bar and liked that they had a good amount of TVs. I will say, however, one of the TVs was eight seconds ahead of the rest which made for some awkward early cheering moments. They should probably just turn that one off.

What surprised me most was that even though this place is a total dive, the service ROCKED. Our waitress was extremely friendly and kept the drinks flowing, and brought us some menus... which actually leads me into the second biggest surprise. The food selection is so impressive for a little bar! The appetizers caught my eye (on the menu they're called 'the starting lineup') but I decided to go with the oriental chicken wrap. This thing was fantastic. White meat chicken, wonton strips, lettuce, tomato, peanuts, and a great dressing. I got a side of broccoli which was perfectly steamed and seasoned.

It was so fun to discover a new spot and I know for sure that we'll be back another time! Go here if you want to watch a game or just hang out at a place that's not overly crowded. I will be back soon to try their burger. Thank you for a great, laid-back Monday, JM's!

Ever since the smoking ban, I have liked visiting McGraugh's. If you get here on a Friday evening, you will run into lots of folks from Brown Shoe. They call this conference room M.

Sara, the bartender, is awesome and earns McGraugh's a fourth star. I was shocked that by my third visit she knew my name and my drink preferences.

They also have happy hour drink specials.  The food is pretty good bar food. Ask for the chips buffalo style. Not on the menu, but it is frequently served.

The office ordered in today for a lunch meeting. We used 569.DINE, which we have found to be an exceedingly trusty service: there is a $10 food minimum and a $5.50 delivery charge. If your order is more than $30, they automatically add a 10% gratuity. You order from restaurants offering this service based on the ZIP code of your delivery destination.

569.DINE delivers on time, and the food is packed well.

Five of us today. At least three large house salads ($4.50): mixed greens, mozzarella, cucumber, tomato and seasoned croutons. Highly successful. One asked for no cucumbers, and they were there.

There was a veggie quesadilla ($7.50) that comes with salsa, sour cream and guacamole. This was the thickest quesadilla I've EVER seen, and she ate just half of it.

And a Reuben ($7.95), that was devoured. I missed the other dishes.

I ordered a Big Cade's Burger medium ($8.95) -- topped with mushrooms and Boursin cheese, with cottage cheese as the side. The burger came with pickle slices, a beautiful tomato slice, a slice of Burmuda onion and leafy lettuce. The sesame seed bun looked inviting, but I ditched it.

The burger was cooked nicely, and tasted nice and beefy, the mushrooms were delicious. That was the stingiest amount of Boursin cheese I've ever seen.

The cottage cheese was packed (by the restaurant) in the burger box, so it was semi-warm upon arrival.

I ate the cottage cheese first. It was a healthy portion and tasty. After that, I could eat just half of the burger, so another meal in the offing. The lettuce, onion, pickles and tomato were quite fresh and rounded out the burger well.

We'll probably order from them again, because of the variety of the menu . . . considering the number of folks we have at these meetings (anywhere from 4 to 6).

This place is a casual bar with good beer and good snacks.  The food definitely tastes better than most dive bar food, plus they have Bosco sticks!  We always came here after volleyball games at Clayton Center.  Will be going back!

I went here tonight for dinner with my wife and attempted to use a Groupon (I know, kind of a pain but it shouldn't be this hard.) Nobody waited on us for the first 10 minutes so I finally went to the bar to order - the place was not busy. We waited 30 minutes for an order of toasted ravioli that should have taken no time at all and even longer for our sandwiches. The food was mediocre but that's not the worst part. I'm assuming it was the owner that refused to accept our Groupon and in no way apologized, just said that he wouldn't accept it and blew us off.

So, in short - awful service, mediocre food, unprofessional management, and no atmosphere to speak of. Worst dinner we've been to and will DEFINITELY not return

I'm not quite as nice as Kelly R. and her round 3.5 stars up to 4, so I'll even hers out, round down to 3, and we'll even each other out to the rating we actually want to give.

Kelly hit the high points - nothing really special about this bar, and the service was considerably slow for a night that was not at all crowded.  It's pretty bad that, even with excellent company, you're left wondering after a while "Where are the wings we ordered?"  And that was only an app.  So time to stop beating a dead horse...

I ordered the bison burger (medium with American cheese, please) and opted for a salad with the lo cal vinaigrette instead of fries (I just came from a personal training session and was feeling righteous/guilty enough to do so).  I'm glad I opted for the salad.  It was actually quite delicious, and the dressing was good.  The most important thing - I got to eat a little something before the rest of the table.  I was freaking hungry after eating a little later than I usually do and having to wait so long for the rest of our meal.  Crap, that dead horse again.

The bison burger was good.  I'd order it again, for sure.  It's nice to have such an option at an unsuspecting sports bar.

A note I must mention - hubby got the same bison burger with blue cheese.  It was a pretty pitiful amount of blue cheese.  Seriously, if you're going to charge me extra for cheese, you better give me a fair amount!  It was only 25 cents, but come on, dudes!

I also thought the fries weren't all that great.  Cut and cooked well, but they are in desperate need of some seasoning.  They could invest in some store bottled variety and have pretty awesome fries.  I love me some steak fries!

Our waitress was friendly enough - just slow (for the 15th time).

I wanted to give this place 3 1/2 stars and figured I'd round up as opposed to down as to not pull down this place's overall review too much. It wasn't the bar's fault that it's just a bar.

That's kind of why I was hoping for something amazing out of last night's experience. 5 stars for a bar and grill?? They must be doing something spectacular! Turns out, these reviewers must just really love bar and grills in general.

I had the Jack burger which was a burger, chedder cheese, and bacon. Don't get me wrong, it was awesome, but it didn't taste any more awesome than any other bacon cheeseburger I've ever had. I even tried the ranch that everyone was raving about. Turns out, it tastes like ranch. Who knew?!

We also waited a bit long for our meal to come out, and since we were catching up with friends, didn't mind all that much except for the fact that we were all hungry.

I hate to be too cynical with this review, though. Honestly, the place was good....but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. I could've gotten that service and that food at any number of places in St. Louis.

Regardless, it was a nice enough experience, I left satisfied, but I doubt I'd go back unless someone else insisted.

This is my corner bar.  It's a family owned and run bar/grill, and everyone is outgoing and friendly.  And VERY accommodating.  I always have the bison burger (RARE) and a Manhattan, straight up.  It's a great place to take the family or a date for a casual bite to eat.  And now that it's a non-smoking establishment, I couldn't be happier! And laides, check out the enormous Virgin Mary in the restroom - believe it or not, I missed it the first time!!!!

This place was exactly what I wanted it to be.  An unassuming bar with decent cheap beer, a good burger cooked as I asked, and it wasn't loud or crowded.  Full of regulars and the service was great.

I will definitely be going back.  Street parking was easy, there is a patio area, and it is just a super casual cheap hang out spot.

RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like ranch dressing that much, but this place makes their own home made and it's off the charts. By far the best I've ever had in St. Louis probably one of the best I've ever had. I also had the buffalo chicken salad which fantastic, the buffalo sauce was great and just the right mix of veggies to chicken.

That would have been enough to get 4 stars from me, but the atmosphere is great. A little hallway bar with some high tops up front and probably about dozen tables in the back. Quieter, with an Internet juke box and couple TVs. Big on the international sports, but still supportive of everything local. Probably not the best place to watch "the big game," but a fun place to meet with friends to catch whatever is on.

Service was good and there was no "high end" factor like there is in a lot places in clayton. Just a good ol' fashion "what can I get ya" pub, with good food, good beer and good people.

I intend on making this one of my local favorites.

This is the perfect neighborhood, regulars kind of bar and I loved it!

The food was great! I had their burger with blue cheese crumbles and it was awesome! Their seasoned fries were great too. I was impressed by their menu as it was much larger than I expected. It's similar to the usual bar food, but there were many things I hope to come back and try. I had a taste of their house made ranch dressing from my date's plate and it was AMAZING!

The place is very small, but cozy and kept clean. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We will be back!

For yuppy Clayton, this is a great pub!  Troy cooks up mouth-watering finger-lickin food and the staff are as friendly or sarcastic as you choose.  I went in with a friend and they make him feel like he owns the joint.  You feel welcome as working class or suit.  Sports, guiness, good food....And since I am the "Bison" girl, they do a half pounder perfectly prepared.  My friend Sean went back and asked Troy (chef) to do his thing with the Bison and I don't think it get's any better.

And, no more smoking.:)  Sad for my friend Sean, but yay for our lungs!  Well, they still have smoking on the patio.

I love this place for one reason, and it's one of the most important reasons in my life: J. McGraugh's is a Nebraska Cornhusker bar.

Being from Nebraska, it is hard to find bars that will show a Husker football game during the season--especially in the middle of Mizzou country.  However, J. McGraugh's is a haven for Cornhusker fans to come and cheer on their team.  The bar even goes one step further and has the music that is played in our stadium as the team takes the field, as well as the marching band music that is played whenever we score.

The food is also great, and there is plenty of beer to go around.  Football or no, J. McGraugh's is a cozy bar and grill that will make you feel welcome.  And cheers to them for hosting a bunch of rabid Husker fans!

    Go Big Red!

I have spent many an evening at McGraugh's and many lunch hours too.  The food is always great and the staff is always very attentive.

It's just the small, neighborhood bar that everyone wants to have close to them.

Imagine Clayton's version of a dive bar- wait it is a dive bar.

It is definitely a local hang out- the staff seems to know just about every patrons name. They have good bar food and reasonable drink prices. At times it can be extremely smokey though.

And for you ladies there is a 12 foot slightly deformed paper mache Mary or angel in the women's restroom.- If anyone knows the story about this one I would love to hear it!
