While I don't love it as much as my beloved Narberth McShea's destination, I do love what the much larger bar space gives them the opportunity to do. And as long as that ranges from ample sized open mic nights, quizzo, movie nights, and then some, I'm proud to be a regular.

Much like the Narberth destination the bar offers a solid menu of gastropub classics and a better than decent beer menu. But the huge horseshoe bar, multiple table areas, and overall space gives them more room to focus on the entertainment aspects that the Narb destination can't deliver pn without things getting crowded. While I easily could, I'd doubt I'd go hear to watch a specific sports event. But if I'm looking to unwind with some friends while catching a good bar movie, seeing a random show that includes a bucket of Rolling Rock special (go Tree Rats), or dominating at a night of Quizzo, I can't think of much better in the Main Line. And for that Jack McShea's is solid!

Limited menu selection- but the salads were huge and crazy good. Wings tasty - crispy. Truffle fries amazing. Cheesesteak yum!  Plenty o TVs.

Neil & Co, have done an amazing job continuing the McShea's name in Ardmore. This is what I want when I think of your neighborhood bar. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. They also have an amazing beer selection, for those beer snobs out there. As far as food is concerned, to say they have bar food would be an understatement. This gastro-pub has some of the best food and some I'd never except to order at a bar. Such as duck confit pot pie, The McShea's corn beef sandwhich (my favorite), and their wonderful and constantly changing daily specials. McShea's also hit home for someone looking to pop in for a drink and burger. You really can't go wrong here! Keep up the great job, I know I'll keep coming back!

The Reverend Dr. Steak and I enjoyed lunch yesterday at Jack McSheas. Both of us had the pub burger with fries.  Delicious. Better than Yeats/Bistro 30 and cheaper too.  Have to give it 5 stars for superb burger and yum fries.

Food was so-so.  Overheard bartender Colleen being surly and rude to customers, which ruined my dining experience.

Had so much fun here! Good bar food, good location, a little loud, but overall a great time was had by the whole party!

Good  value overall. A great improvement from the previous business models...
Staff is friendly , and  the customers' requests are met  in a timely and attentive fashion.

The food preparation could be slightly better but the food was delivered  warm and in a timely fashion. The dishes are good overall.( not poor and not excellent)

The menu is creative and  has many options, drinks are good.

We had one beer one martini and one bottle of Shiraz

We ordered 2 prime ribs with asparagus and fries.
The meat was cooked to the right temperature and was good. The fries were good. The asparagus were cooked properly but lacked intention.
There were no deserts on the menu.

The bill was 72$ for both of us . We  thought the bill was fair  for what we ordered.

Wish they had a better Chardonnay.

Late night dining in Ardmore... didn't think it would be a problem on a Saturday night, but apparently I was wrong.

We were out at 10:30 and really needed something to eat, so we stopped into the one place that was open - Jack McShea's. Unfortunately they only had their late-night dining menu available: all fried food. We got buffalo chicken fingers and sweet potato fries, which were fine, but not really what we had in mind for nourishment. It was disappointing to get a menu with 6 items on it, all of which were fried.

Anyway, we decided to just laugh it off and enjoy each others company, until, 30 seconds after we placed our order... the band started up! There was a live band playing music and people dancing, and it was impossible to hear anything the person across the table was saying. We couldn't even hear what the waiter had to say when he came over again!

So, overall, disappointing... A circumstances thing more than anything else, but definitely not what we had a in mind when we went looking for something to eat and converse over. I'd say, if you are looking to get something to eat at that hour, just keep in mind that the menu is limited and be sure to inquire as to whether they will be starting up the music anytime soon.

stopped in for a late night beer and bite. staff was very nice, good beer selection and late menu, just a little too fried for my liking (stomach still hoping to recover a week later). not bad for a drink or two and looks great for games, though non were on when we were in because it was so late.

Great atmosphere, very busy on a Friday night but the staff was nice and friendly. Foos was great for the price, will definitely return.

My husband and I visited this place when it first opened as JR Monaghan's and hadn't gone back because the food was awful.
A few months ago on a Wednesday I was walking by and saw the sign outside advertising Quizzo at 9:30. We are avid quizzo-goers and decided to walk over later to check it out. We've been going almost every week since then.
All the food we've tried is great--my favorites are the wings and the 3-mushroom quesadilla-- the wait staff is so friendly and always give us a warm welcome, and the equally friendly owner is almost always there.
We're huge Flyers fans and it's the perfect place to watch the games. I swear they just added even MORE tvs to the already crazy amount they already had.
Oh, and the Quizzo is run in an awesome way. Patrons can sign up to host (they're compensated, of course)! We've hosted 2 or 3 times now and it's really fun and always unique to play.
All in all, we think Jack McSheas is a great addition to the neighborhood! See you for Quizzo tonight? ;)

I have been to Jack McShea's a couple of times and really like it. When I learned that McShea's in Narberth had opened a place in Ardmore I decided to give it a try. The menu is small, but everything I tried is very good. The salads are fresh and the portion size is more than generous. The wings are great. My freinds both had cheesesteaks and really like them. Tonight I had the black bean burger, WOW. I ordered, then worried I might get some pre-processed frozen burger thing. I was so wrong. This is a fresh house made whole black bean burger, on a nice bun. It's a little messy, because there is no fillers just beans that tend to mush together, but the spices are just right. It is served with a BBQ sauce, which I didn't think I would like so I asked for it plain and used the spicy ranch my husband got with his salad. It was a perfect match, I would suggest ordering it that way.

The server was very nice and we had a good comfortable evening with freinds at a freindly clean tavern. I will be a regular at this place.

Two experiences here, one outshadowing the other.

First experience was good - nice meal with some friends on a Saturday night.  Good service...decent food (though the menu is a bit sparce).  Had the mushroom quesadilla and was happy.

Second experience: This weekend I popped in with my beau to watch the Flyers battle the Penguins since the game was on cable, which I am without.  The place was empty except for about 10 other folks, who were all clearly there to watch the game.  Why did they have the best of 70's rock on instead of the game commentary?  It is a bit dull to watch a hockey game without the sound.  People kept coming and going and I have a feeling it was because of that.  We finished our food and left to go to one of the many Irish-y bars around the corner that had the game on, but I would have gladly stayed and spent more money if they had the game volume up.

Also the sweet potato fries were way too sweet.  Not sure they need to add sugar to them.

    Wednesday March 14, 2012 - 6:30 PM

I sampled the food of this "new" establishment formerly occupied by J.R. Monaghan's.  The "new" restaurant is titled "Jack McShea's and, of course, Irish-themed .  If the surname sounds familiar you'd be correct.  "McShea's" is the same Narberth taproom that has been serving pub fare since 1996.  In the spirit of transparency, I've never dined at the Narberth location but, have wanted to try it.

I enjoyed the complimentary warm crab and cracker appetizer.  I had to restrain myself from not eating much because I "had" to have the "crab" soup - worth the wait.

The chicken cheese steak with fries was good. The server was friendly and patient with my questions.

I predict this will a very popular choice for casual, relaxed, fun dining.
