I thought the restaurant looked fine, it wasn't dirty or dim like others have said. Maybe they have cleaned up a bit. My partner is also very nitpicky about cleanliness and didnt hear a peep from him about the place. Was with friends who had been once before and he said the lighting had improved over his last visit.
Tried ordering drinks and gave up, everything we ordered off the menu they didnt have in stock - finally just resorted to ordering based on what we saw on neighboring tables instead of the menu! We got some imported beers and they were good.
They have a selection that varies greatly from what I have seen at many other Indian restaurants in Denver. A good mix of vegetarian and meat options and an extensive list of accompaniments and breads. Their dosa looked particularly impressive and I am sorry I didn't try one after seeing some delivered to neighboring tables.
I enjoyed the food I ordered. We started with Mulligatawny soup and Aappam with both Kuruma and coconut milk. Â Both were just ok. We shared entrees and I really enjoyed the Karaikudi Kabab and the Chettinad Chicken the most.
For what its worth, I was dining with all people born and raised in India, who all still visit yearly and they seemed to enjoy their food.
At the end of the night we asked them to split the bill and they messed up and put it all on one persons card! They seemed hesitant to fix it, luckily we had cash to pay our friend back.
3 Stars because the food and atmosphere were good but not happy about not the bar not being properly stocked and the check thing.
The owners of this restaurant don't care and have lost their way! Â
The place is filthy. RIP, RIP, RIP - the dining room wood floors are so sticky that it actually requires extra effort to walk on them. The men's bathroom was disgusting - ground in dirt on the floors, gross toilets, an unhygienic washbasin and a smell that was not pleasant.
I arrived at 12:45pm looking forward to the buffet. I'd been here before when I lived in Denver and remembered that I liked the buffet (3 1/2 stars). Today, I was one of the three people in the restaurant; the buffet had been mostly consumed, a chicken dish that had no sauce sat looking dry and tired. Â And, even though some of the food looked good I did not have a good feeling about it - Â so I left.
On last Friday we went to jai Ho for dinner. They had a big dining area and full bar. In the dinning are they had a poor floor and seems to be shabby. And also I felt that they should little bright lighting inside the dining area.
Chilli Gobi...perfectly cooked and tastes excellent.
Samosa...had with some tomato sauce
Lollipop chicken...wings cooked superbly and they are yummy and the best dish of the night!!!
Noodles...veggie with no egg.....soft and seems to be oily.
Chicken and Mutton Kothu Parotta...respective meat and chopped Parotta, egg, onions and tomatoes tried first time its tasty and the is filling for individual.
Didn't explore more items...so only less content in the review!!
So I made a reservation for ten for my birthday on a late Saturday night. They gladly took my reservation om Friday afternoon, and called an hour before on Saturday to confirm. They neglected, however, to tell me that their Tandoori oven was out of order for all bread and Tandoori chicken, AND that they were out of many bottled beer and had ZERO beers on tap at their full service bar. Service was very poor with extremely poor english. Food was decent. Good flavor. It wasn't a very good birthday.
Review Source:I quite enjoyed my buffet lunch here. Â The price is reasonable (~$10). Â The selection is pretty good. Â Complimentary dosa appetizer was provided with the lunch. Â My only reservation is how much (or how little) business they seem to get. Â Hopefully they will get enough to maintain the standards at a high level. Â I would definitely come here again but most likely around 11:30-12:00 closer to when they put out the fresh items. Â It seems that they let the chutney stay out from 11 until 3:30, i would probably stay away from that after 2 :D
Review Source:Try the ceylon chicken dosa (or mutton) and the chicken kothru parotta. Sometimes when I think about Jai Ho, i think of unicorns and smushy teddy bears. Its awesome.
Service can be hit or miss. Take your time and be patient; watch the Bollywood movies on the TVs and have a huge Indian beer or two.
I was very pleasantly surprised by this place. I've been to a number if Indian restaurants in the area and only one or two other places are worthy of a revisit. This one moves to the top of the list. They have Northern Indian cuisine, so the menu is different from other places.
The spice mixes are different than the other restaurants, so inherently that makes this place interesting. The chicken tika masala was probably the least spicy thing we tried. The kuruma was excellent but a little too spicy for my wife, and the daal was a tasty yellow daal.
As in all Indian restaurants I have been to, the service was a little slow.
The interior of the restaurant is quite nice, in fact much nicer than I expected from the location. There is a very large bar area, it's kind of hard to imagine they ever fill it.
A little pricier than I expected, though. And the servings are a little on the small side.
Its almost been year and a half since my last review and this establishment have come a long way since then. Most importantly, they sure did turn around their waiting service and eradicate most issues they had in the past. Also, they are able to maintain the taste of their food consistently and thats always a plus for any restaurant.
I did have a recent uncouth experience at Jai Ho that is probably worth mentioning! Considering their good ambiance and great tasting food, I picked this place for 16 of my out of town friends to dine here one night. Food was ordered and drinks were served. Everything moved along smoothly until the food arrived! We had four different dishes ordered and one of them was Hydrabadi Chilli Chicken! The server did warn us that the dish would be "a bit spicier" than usual. But it turns out on a scale of 1-10 it was about 50! I tried this dish before here and it was in no way as spicy as they made it. or else i would never have ordered it again! There were a lot of sweaty heads and red faces among our party and we even had to order some plain yogurt to numb the fire!
Another aspect of Jai Ho that is recently been prevalent is the quantity of meat in their meat dishes! I counted 5 pieces of boneless chicken or goat meat in the dish covered with immense amount of spices and sauce! Is the food cost driving them to take such measures? Because $12-$15 per dish with just 5-6 tiny pieces of meat sure puts a hole in our pockets and dents our taste buds as well!
So the moral of the story is - Beware of Hydrabadi Chilli Chicken or atleast make sure it's within acceptable limits. And count your meat ;)
So after trying this place more then 3 times now i would have to say over all its good. Mango lasso was ok dessert was ok. Their Dosas are delicious and their dishes are all yummy however i find it difficult to say this but they all seem to taste the same to me and this is while having 5 different dishes in the table. have not been back there in sometime now but i might stop by again. I truly dislike the fact that they close after lunch~ from 2pm to 5 pm
Review Source:I really like this place. The spice mixture is almost always right, they have green chile naan bread, biryani and dosas are excellent, the menu has a sense of humor. My only quibbles ... it's a tad bit cold inside in the winter. Nothing a sweater won't cure.
While the food at nearby Masala is excellent, the ambiance is right up there with the Department of Motor Vehicles. Â After two meals, I really think Jai Ho edges them out.
My Ginger friend swears by this place, so of course we had to check it out...she's lead me astray a few times before but I still give it a shot. Well, I can't say I'm about to swear by this place. The food wasn't bad, price was decent and service was next to terrible. We got there at 11:32am, which is a whole 2 mins after they opem. They weren't really ready for their first customers but no big deal. Now the big deal was the 20 mins I had to wait to get the bill. Which when I'm done eating I'm pretty much ready to get up and go...but I guess they thought we needed more time to look at empty plates and talk or something/
I threw some cash down with my quick math and was a $1 short, thankfully for the guy finally dropped of the bill right as I was getting up. So-So food w/ bad service isn't my favorite experience and for that, I only reward them w/ 3 stars.
Jai Ho has more ambiance for a date night or social outing than the other Indian restaurants in the area, with its big boothes, dim lighting, curtains & soft music. Everything our four top table ordered was tasty, from the masala dosa to the tikka masala, the ras malai to the gulab jamun.
However, nothing was out-of-this-world delicious and portions were small. I don't think I've ever been to an Indian restaurant before where there wasn't a scrap of naan, sauce or samosa to take home.
Cups of chai were particularly minuscule and cost $2 a cup, no refills (none of which is mentioned in the menu).
Ok so where shall we go on the day before work starts again? Â Indian sounds good let's try Jai Ho as we have not been and so we walked in and were seated by the Buffett. Â We walked around to see what they were serving. Â The food was sparse but lunch was over in a half hour or so. We decided to order off the menu so they moved us to another section.
Then we noticed they were refilling the Buffett and so we decided that was the way to go.  Honestly we had no idea what was what and wished we knew more about this kind of food.  Everything  on our plates were  actually tasty and most items were spicy.  I actually liked the vegie dishes the best.  The chicken was tender but boneThe enjoyed the sauces.  The mint sauce  was good with  had a hint of spice.  The desserts were ok just too sweet or not sweet enough.
They redid the restaurant ant I think it looks very nice. Â Sure a change from the steak house that once was there. Â No more peanut shells on the floor. Â
The price for the Buffett was not cheap at 15.00. Â It usually is 9.00 but they considered the day after New Years part of the holiday. Â They said the serve more food on weekends than weekday. Â Â Next visit will be a weekday and hopefully we will know what to eat.
I have been meaning to try this place for some time and stopped today. Â They had a special Xmas Eve Buffet and it was very tasty! Â This was a great way to sample their menu items without being limited. Â They had a veggie/chili stir fry which was very tasty with the right amount of spice (not bland), The Bergain Bartha was very tasty as well as the tandoori chicken. Â I found the staff to be friendly and they were well staffed (maybe because of the holiday rush). Â I brought a to-go box back for my boyfriend and he loved it as well.
They have a very nice looking bar as well for a night time jaunt.
I will definitely be back and bring my Mom! Â Thank you Jai Ho! Â I love Tandoori Grill in Boulder, but now I have a new local favorite!
I totally dig this place. Our food was excellent. We had a dosa for an appetizer (based on our waiters recommendation) and it was awesome. Then we shared the chicken masala and some vegetarian dish. Once again I was impressed. The naan is homemade and they have lots of variety. I for one had never had green chili naan but I was glad I did.
We left with doggie bags and full bellies. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes.
I have been to this place multiple times. The food can be rated one among the best Indian food available in Denver. Â It is a bit on the expensive side.
On labor day, 11 of us went to the lunch and its a buffet. The buffet is 14$ per person and what really freaks me out is that they charged 18% extra gratuity charge. I do not have an issue with the tip, but 18% for picking the plates. Are you kidding???
11 of us with few drinks (only 7 took cokes/drinks), costed us more than 250$. It came to 26$ per person.
This was me second time going to Jai Ho, the first experience was fine and the food was good. Â I decided to take my fiance and I yesterday for dinner. Â
We asked our waiter a couple of questions about the menu and he was clueless. Â We ordered 3 dishes: Eggplant, Chicken Tikka Masala and a Masala Dosa. Â
The Chicken Tikka and the Masala Dosa came out fairly quickly but the eggplant never arrived. Â Our waiter never checked in on us, finally I waved him down to ask him about our 3rd dish. Â He completely spaced it, but acted like it was on its way out. Â By the time the dish came we were pretty much full. Â No apology was made.
Â
Then we had to ask for our check 3 times. Â At this point I was getting pretty pissed off. Â I asked to speak to a manager and was told that the manager was "too" busy to see me. Â Too busy to talk with a customer! Â I have never had that happen in any restaurant, I take that back maybe in a developing country when I travel, but never in the states. Â I was totally shocked. Â So we left, with a vow to never return. Â Their food was decent, but LIttle India is just as good, and their service is light years beyond Jai Ho.
Found this place completely by accident and thought we'd give it a try.  Located in the defunct Lone Star Cafe site, the beat up wooden floors look lonely without peanut shells.  The food was  surprisingly yummy, but my husband was seriously disappointed that all their mutton dishes, approximately a quarter of the menu, were not available.  We both tried different chicken dishes, which were very flavorful. Â
The downfall of this restaurant is the service. Â We started with the samosas and after finishing, one of the waitresses stopped and stared at our dirty plates and then asked if we--uh--wanted her to take the plates. Â She seemed appalled that we honestly expected her to bus two small plates and the serving plate. Â That level of astonishment that we, like, expected service or something continued throughout the meal. Â Then approximately two seconds after we'd finished our meal we were handed the check. Â I doubt we'll be back.
After hearing about a place that had real southern Indian cusine I made it to Jai Ho last Saturday for lunch with a fellow foodie. Â We got there around 12:30 and the buffet was getting a lot of attention, however we wanted to order off the menu so they sat us in a section away from the flow of the buffet crowd's comings and goings. Â It's in a pretty big space with a full bar, which is not something you see all the time in an "ethnic" restaurant. Â
After getting drinks we looked through the menu and tried to come up with a good sampling for us to try.  We started with the app called Chicken 65, it was nicely seasoned with just enough spiciness.  It was an overall good start, maybe a little dry and overcooked but still pretty good. Next up was a dosa, we asked the waiter what his favorite was and he suggested the Jaiho Special.  If you've not had a dosa before it's kinda like a crepe, and with over a dozen to choose from Jai Ho is the spot to give one a try.  Ours had potato, onion, and some kind of chutney.  It came with a side of  "green chilli" and a couple of dipping sauces, a very tasty dish! Â
For the entrees we split a couple things from the mutton section, the Madras Mutton Kuzhambu and the Jaiho Special Karaikudi Mutton. Â Both were very good, but we agreed that the Madras was the better of the two. Â My only complaint about them was that nearly every piece had a bone in it. Â It's not unusual to find bones in lots of ethnic foods, and cooking food with them adds to the overall flavor of a dish, I get all that, just wish there were more bone-free pieces.
On a side note, when we ordered they didn't ask us how spicy we wanted anything. Â Maybe the waiter forgot and they made everything medium? Â Or even mild? Â Personally I think it could've been a bit spicier, and I'm not one that's into really spicy food. Â When they brought the food they said they'd get us more rice when we needed it, which we both did. Â We also got some Kerala Parotta to go with the entrees, it's sort of like naan, except it's layered and a lot better. Â We did get some cheese naan as well, with all the southern Indian we had it was a little out of place on the table, but still pretty good.
I was way too full to even think about dessert myself, but my friend had his heart set on some Ras Malai. Â It's a homemade cottage cheese that is pressed into balls and covered in cream. Â It seemed like a fairly small portion to me, and my friend said it's usually bigger. Â I tried a small bite and wasn't impressed at all but he loved it.
I liked how they give each table a pitcher of water, there's nothing worse than eating something spicy and having to chase down a waiter to get some water. Â Plenty of parking, reasonable prices, and really good food all add up to me going back for more!
Been to the weekend buffet 2 more times since the initial review. My husband is from southern India and they have things that really remind him of home. I enjoy most things as well. We did have some goat briyani that we got as take out that we didn't like as much, it had a lot of clove in it, just not our style. Today was very busy, I like that I was the only person there not of Indian/Asian descent, must mean they are doing something right! This business has been open about a year now, so if you went once before, it may be worth trying again :)
Review Source:Jai Ho please!! Â So, first, the decor. Â They did a very good job making this place look nice. Â It still needs just a little more work...one of the tables had different/cheaper looking chairs than the other tables. Â Second, the staff. Â I noticed all the service staff were men. Â No issue with that or anything, just an observation. Â While our server was very nice, he was agonizingly slow. Â Our appetizer came out quick along with our buttered naan...but, our meal took forever to come out. Â I like that they put a pitcher of water on the table. Â I still feel they should come around and check our glasses though...maybe we would like something else to drink throughout our meal. Â My Masala Dosa was so yummy! Â My husband loved it too. Â Our Tikka Masala didn't disappoint. Â I just wish it came with a little more rice. Â The rice servings were pretty skimpy in my opinion. Â My only other complaint is I wish they were open earlier than 6 PM for dinner on Wednesdays. Â All in all, I'm always in the mood to go to Jai Ho.
Review Source:Jai Ho is one of the newest additions to Indian cuisine in the Denver Metro Area.
We've tried the lunch buffet, and they have a good variety of dishes. Everything is very tasty (but some may find it too spicy for the average palette).
In our experience, the dosa (that comes with the buffet) was not delivered to the table in time for our meal. Service is certainly mediocre. Our water was not refilled for a long time, until we desperately managed to flag down a waiter.
The restaurant is very spacious, but there can be better lighting. I found the Bollywood music videos that was blaring in the background offensively loud and a bit tacky.
If you're in the area, it's a worth a try. But honestly, the signage for Jai Ho is hard to see (red lettering on red bricks).
With these improvements, Jai Ho can certainly rise to be among the best in Indian cuisine in the Denver area.
Food is pretty good. Love the authentic South Indian Flavor of the food. Wait staff could be better as they don't know much about the menu and cannot make any recommendations, if asked.
Also, the restaurant floor is super sticky and you can feel your shoes stick to the wooden floor and make the typical stripping sound when you walk.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please verify your credit card statements as I was charged twice for the dinner and I had to follow-up with the owner a few times to get the duplicate charge canceled.
We ate at Jai Ho on Saturday night -- in fact arriving at 6 p.m. as they were turning the lights on.
The not so great: The service was slow. At first we thought it was because they were just opening ... but it took a loooong time to get menus. Another couple came in as we were eating our food, waited a while, stood up and looked over the half-wall for a waiter, and finally left after getting no service or even acknowledgment. A few Indian families came in and got service right away -- either because it was later at night and the place was ready to go, or because they knew the owners, or because of coincidence -- who knows? It also was difficult to get our check -- took a while.
The great: Food was delicious! We love having the many dosa options, including meat. I had a fantastic chicken curry dish, the garlic naan was delicious, chai was good. Gobi 65 was spicy, without the yogurt-type coating we've had elsewhere. The chicken had no bones in it. The mutton did have some small bones.
The waiter did not knock over any water glasses (and brought water without asking) or neglect to clear our plates. He was also nice with our daughter, confirming if she wanted sweet lassi or mango lassi, and advising on the heat (spice) of the dishes.
In response to comments from other yelpers -- the bathrooms were fine, the place was all right (although it was a little distracting to hear the TV shows very loudly in the dining/buffet area but not be able to see a TV screen).
All in all, it was good - more expensive than Masalaa, maybe not quite as delicious food, slightly different, with meat options. We'll definitely try it again.
I liked the way food tasted. We didn't have stale chicken as some of the other reviewers posted. However, we won't be going back unless we hear a couple of things have changed.
First, the incompetent servers need to be trained or fired. It was almost laughable how awkward they were with a tray full of food. They didn't know where to put the food, and in at least one case, unapologetically tipped over a drink, spilling it on one of our guests. As if that weren't bad enough, it took forever for everyone to get their meals. Spreading this out over 5 minutes is bad - but they took a full 30 minutes before everyone got what they ordered. On top of that, you'd figure that someone waiting for 90 minutes to get fed might be thirsty... and might want that soft drink refilled. No one ever offered to refill our drinks.
So, you think part of that is an inattentive staff? Actually, the owner wouldn't leave us alone. He was a nice enough young guy, and pleasure to talk to. But for Pete's sake, leave us alone for a while so we can talk amongst ourselves a bit! It is very uncomfortable having a helicopter as a host.
Second - regarding the food. It was too spicy for most of my guests. I liked it, however their interpretation of mild is pretty spicy by most American standards. That's their prerogative, but a little more warning up front would have kept my guests happier.
Little tiny chicken bones really make a tasty meal unpleasant. I get it that it's authentic or whatever. Authentic Renaissance food would probably have dirt in it. It doesn't mean you can't adapt the food for the audience - people that have a little money to spend in your restaurant. If we wanted street food, we would have looked for a cart and paid a LOT less. You charge a fair amount for your meals - use decent chicken and prepare it in a manner that is consistent with the prices.
It's a zero star actually and not a One!
Remember how I said I do not dare going to an Indian restaurant? I won't even dream of daring to go an Indian restaurant in Colorado, so I am going to stay happy cooking my own little Indian meals and entertaining my friends and family at home. Never at an Indian restaurant and Never ever again at Jai ho.
Here is why -
The service is non existent. It was so at the buffet too, but I thought of giving them some benefit doubt as they were new. Two more visits and hundreds of dollars later, I can say that I am extremely unhappy with the service.
No one serves you water in this restaurant - EVER!. On my last visit, 2 hours of sitting at the table , I finally had to ask the server where the faucet was so i could drink water.. only then did he get me a glass and some water. I have put on a picture on yelp, that shows how our empty dishes were still on the table when they served dessert. Yikes!!
More on service  - we had 8 people in our group. food for three of us was served half an hour before the rest of the group. No apologies from anyone on that. They just dumped the food down and vanished only to reappear half an hour later with the food for the rest of the group minus one dish, which came in 15 minutes later. And I should mention here that we got the food but no silver ware or plates to eat. so we had to ask for that too.
I saw a few of the wait staff members walking about , but without bothering to see if everything was ok  on our table. I even saw one talking chirpily on his cell phone, inside the restaurant walking about.
We paid $225 for a dinner of 7 adults and one kid - It was not a free meal.
Service = Strike one
Now on the food -
Stale chicken and lamb, when you can actually find some meat in the dishes. Its mostly brittle bones that can be dangerous ( more on that later). Â they tried to camouflage the offensive taste of stale chicken with hot and hotter spices, but it did not help.
Chicken biryani - looked like something leftover from the buffet and was just dumped on our table. it was not even as decent as the one they had in buffet.
I am using the word dumped too many times, but yano, it actually gets dumped with a big bang  on the table by the wait staff.
food quality = strike two
The final nail in the coffin. My family spent 9 hours in urgent care after the dinner. My husband, while eating some of their chicken, choked on it. He was very uncomfortable during the entire otherwise uncomfortable ( read depressing due to the service ) meal. So we got home and he was still feeling something hurting him in his throat. So off we go to the urgent care and after multiple examinations including but not limited to endoscopy, It was confirmed that some sharp thing had hurt him.
We are awaiting more results on this as I am writing this review. I did not want to delay writing this for fear of anyone else getting hurt.
So please do watch out for the bones ( these are very fine and brittle in their dishes of chicken) Â and they are always inside the masala mix.
More strikes : bathrooms are filthy. Seriously filthy.
Music is so loud that you have shout to be heard across the table.
They have an ambitious menu, but they don't have the right staff to execute it.
Final strike : Even though you end up paying around $20 to $25 per person ( sans any alcoholic drink) , the quantity or quality of the food is not worth the price.
So my short lived happiness of finding an Indian restaurant died a very expected but sudden death!
Disappointing. We just dined there for the first time tonight.
What makes a restaurant successful, especially an ethnic one? Location, menu, staying true to the ethinicy of the dishes, ambience, and finally for me, *service*.
What we ordered -
* Jai Ho chicken lollipop to start - perfect spices, heat and portion; stale chicken.
* Kerala parotta - similar to Malabar parathas, but too flakey and crumbly. A tad dry and chewy.
* Malabar chicken - interesting spices; too much mustard seeds and not enough coconut. Could have been perfect if they bothered to use decent chicken pieces/cuts instead of brittle bones and hardly any meat.
* Madurai mutton chukka - oh! How I was looking forward to this! Once again, mostly gristle, bones, and tough chewy pieces of goat when you happened to get a piece of meat.
* Falooda and gulab jamun with ice-cream for dessert - perfect! Â
The pluses -
* Decent location.
* Plenty of parking and free.
* Menu is perfect, mostly a blend of South Indian fare with a light dose of the rest of India thrown in for good measure.
* The interior is still being sorted, one would hope. It's still charming.
The minuses -
* For god's sakes either train your service staff or get rid of them! Awful is too pleasant of a word to describe that set of smiling, awkward young men with nary a clue about service, food, or English, the language. They hovered around a barely full restaurant without bothering to clear our very obviously empty plates.
Our server knocked my drink over, spilling the contents, and did not bother apologising, wiping it or offering to get any soaking implement as I used my napkin to mop the remnants of my drink. Â
* Turn your air-conditioning to normal levels, please. It was frigid.
* We love a good meal, especially one that is prepared well, uses quality ingredients and finally tastes good. Jai Ho has the spices mostly right, so the tastes are pretty authentic, BUT by using inferior quality and cuts of meats, they produced a sub-par fare, not worthy of the moniker 'Jai Ho'.
* One would think that the owner would realise, living in the US, that not everyone can eat with a spoon and fork - provide knives please. Though my previous point makes this moot, since there was a no way we could have cut through the meat in those dishes.
* Uncomfortable booth seating. We think the place could do with newer seating.
* Ambient music should just be that, ambient... not an Indian disco and bhangra mélange loud enough to jar my very senses.
Needless to say, won't be going back till they make a few serious changes.
You wonder why the generous 3 stars? I am an optimist, and a sucker for Indian cuisine. So, I have faith in Jai Ho improving their game by a couple of notches.
Cheers to hoping!
Sorry Jai Ho, you BROKE my heart into MILLION pieces... You indeed disappoint me this time around... and you know why. Â If you have a HUGE PARTY going on, at least the next time around please do tell me so I wont bring another HUGE PARTY from my group to dine @ your restaurant.
If you know WAY BEFORE HAND, there is a HUGE PARTY have more servers, or waitstaffs, to handle HUGE PARTY... Some of the food that were served were cold especially the RICE. Â Or provide more water, or at least offer appetizers on the house or something... Â Yes, I know you are new in the food scene here in Denver Metro area...
But lesson learn from my part. Â Yes the flavor of the food you served was OK, though I kept requesting my food to be OVER THE TOP SPICY not for the AMERICAN PALATE mind you... make me sweat, oophs I disgress, make me GLOW will you, but you failed to the point of 3 dishes I requested on this faithful evening of SATURDAY July 10th 2010.
These was what I ordered for the evening :
* Â Jai Ho Lollipop Chicken ~ for this dish, it taste more like "sweet and sour" kind of flavor for my taste bud.
* Â Jai Ho Spl Kairakudi Mutton ~ this dish has alot of flavor. Â I like this dish alot but I SO WISH IT could be more spicier for my taste bud.
A to go box for Hubs ~ Mutton Dum Biryani. (another major disappointment with the spicy level).
For this perhaps, if I would return I will return ONE on a weekday. Â TWO perhaps come on a time frame that is not PEAK period or perhaps not to have HIGH HOPES that you have given me on my first visit.
With this review, I feel I want to CRY my lungs out, but I could not.. too tired waiting from the experience I had with my lovely friends that thought and feel to have an Ultimate Northern and Southern Indian Cuisine, but the service is WAY below my expectations...
If you happen to provide this kind of service in Singapore, I am beyond speechless in a VERY BAD WAY.
Lesson learn indeed..
End of my RANT.
I went to Jai-Ho last night on a whim. Â
Mr. Mixer and I were actually driving somewhere else and we saw the sign. Â I suggested that we try, actually kidding because I know Mr. Mixer doesn't like Indian food, when, surprise! Mr. Mixer agrees because he LOVES Indian food. Â Seriously? Â I've been avoiding Indian food for three years of marriage while he holds out on me? Â Here come the 6 most dreaded words for any guy in a relationship: "I think we need to talk".
Anyway, back to the food.
It was wonderful. Â I started with a sweet lhassi, which was delicious. Â Mr. Mixer had a salt-lime soda, which wasn't our cup of tea. Â Or soda. Â Whatever.
We ordered chili paneer and chicken 65 to start. Â The chicken 65 was like spiced chicken nuggets with a mint chutney to dip in. Â We both loved it. Â The chili paneer, however, was my favorite thing all night. Â Paneer mixed with onions, peppers, chilies and cooked in a spicy sauce, oh my goodness! Â I fear this will become an addiction.
We also had garlic naan, which was super garlicy and delicious. Â We ordered a dosa with spiced potatoes in it, served with tomato chutney, coconut chutney and a sauce of spiced lentils. This was my first dosa, and won't be my last! Â And a goat curry. Â My first time with goat meat, too. Â It was good.
Mr. Mixer and I went on an eating adventure last night and came back happy and stuffed.
The staff is nice and very helpful, the decor is lovely, the restaurant is clean, the service was good. Â I can't wait for them to get their bar up and running. Â I think I'm going to be a regular here. And apparently, so will Mr. Mixer, now that he actually likes Indian food. Â Humph.
Not bad! Â Finally found another Indian restaurant that serves Dosas and isn't Masaala. Â I love Masaala's food, but they scare me. Â
This place is spacious, clean-ish, and their bathroom doesn't make me feel like I am in a Quentin Tarantino  movie (still thinking of Masaala here).  The dosas are wonderful and tasty. Â
Not that I have use for them, but there are meat-ful dishes here also.  The  menu is written with humor and the servers are friendly--both of those things are usually absent in Indian restaurants, so it's refreshing.
