I had dinner at Swirk earlier this week because it is close and the reviews were good. First of all, the reviews are right. I had the chicken kabobs and they were delicious. Tender and tasty and plentiful. They included onion and peppers although these two items were minimal and could be increased some. The rice was delicious and the salad was a nice edition. We were the only people in the resuraunt however there was a fair amount of take out business. The service was slow but I believe this is because everything is cooked fresh. The setting is minimal but quite sufficient. I would definately go back. My second point is that this place is listed as American (New). I do not agree. Although I did see a hamburger on the menu, I would not clasify this as an American resturaunt.

This was very good.  I had the Chicken Masahap, which was delicious and tasted kind of like Indian food.  The flavored yellow rice is similar to east African rice, and also delicious.  The beef sambousa I got on the side was very tasty and seemed fresher and to have more veggies mixed in compared with those from other places in the area.

Differing from some of the east African places around here, the service is good for the average American.  I didn't have to ask for a table, menus, drinks, etc.  It did take a while to get our food, but it seemed the kitchen was just getting started when we arrived, and I got a free desert out of it.  I'll definitely be back.

In the stripmall behind the Walgreens at Peoria and Iliff, Swirk Supreme Food will stun you with its scintillating Sudanese offerings.

Enjoy a thirst-quenching lemonade (subtly flavored with mint), or a nice cool glass of Karkadeh (made with roselle [hibiscus] flowers, this is indeed reminiscent of the Mexican beverage called Jamaica) while you peruse the menu board directly in front of you. Don't those Sambosa sound tasty? And indeed, these enormous triangular pastries (lovingly filled with either ground meat, peas and corn, or potatoes, carrots and peas, then deep-fried and garnished with vividly colorful bell pepper strips) will send you into "oohs" and "aahs" from the first bite. Swirk also offers more pan-Middle Eastern staples like silky-smooth Hummus, smoky Baba Ganoush, and herby Tabouleh if any of those tickle your fancy.

But keep in mind - you have some more courses ahead of you! Up next, why not try the temptingly tangy marinated chicken dish called Masahap, sided with a moist mound of yellow rice and a fresh, crisp salad (bursting with cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and lettuce). Other succulent options include roasted meats like rich goat or tender lamb, and for the fish fiends among you, there's also a great big trout fillet. Each plate comes with little cups of Shatta (zingy green pepper sauce) and ranch dressing. You can also have a packed-to-the-brim Falafel sandwich if you're in a more meatless mood.

Something sweet? Why thanks! Oh, you were asking about desserts. Well, check out the syrup-drenched semolina cake Basbusa, or even the creamy rice pudding called Mhallabia. For those of you who absolutely *must* finish with Baklava, yes, they have that here too. They do sometimes offer other pastries and baked goods as well - let the two lovely, lively sisters who work up front give you some suggestions!

If John Coltrane had been able to visit this place, he might very well have named his groundbreaking album "A Swirk Supreme". So give it a spin, and see what you think!
