Jason's Deli has a large menu of fresh sandwiches, wraps, soups, and baked potatoes as well as a salad bar and free ice cream! Â I took a gander at the salad bar but didn't deem it worth the $8 - I'm sure it's very nice, but on my first visit I wanted to try something different. Â So I went with a half chicken panini (provolone, pesto, tomatoes, spinach) and a cup of vegetarian vegetable soup. Â Also came with chips, and was about $8 or $9.
You order and pay up front, sit down, then they bring you your food. Â It's a fairly large space so you should be able to find seating even at a busy lunch hour.
Sandwich definitely tasted fresh - crisp bread, lots of healthy spinach - but it was a bit underseasoned. Â Could've used a little more flavor! Â The soup didn't stand out to me - it was nice and hot, but didn't taste homemade. Â Can't say whether it was or not, of course, but the tiny little vegetable pieces reminded me of the canned stuff. Â And it was mostly broth.
Everything tasted healthy and fresh, which was nice. Â I think the sandwiches are a safe bet, but grab the salt and pepper. Â Grab a soft serve cone on the way out - wish they had toppings though! Â I'm greedy, I wanted sprinkles.
I really enjoyed Jason's Deli. The salad bar is worth the $10, for one if you eat there you can go back up. There is also more there than just salad, I saw potato salad, pasta salad as well as some other items that I just can't remember right now. Â The salad is good and there are plenty of items to put on the salad. Oh yeah, there is pudding vanilla and chocolate and ice cream!
The soup was okay, only had Chicken noodle. I've eaten one of the sandwiches, I don't remember what it was and I am too lazy to look it up right now, but it was good. I will continue to go there for lunch because the salad bar is worth it!
This is one of those lunch spots in the loop that I frequently go to for a healthy lunch. They have an all you can eat salad bar that is always packed with a variety of fresh options. I have had some of their sandwiches in the past which were also good. You can do a soup or salad sandwich combo which is always nice. I am a huge fan of their chicken pot pie soup. It is supposed to be seasonal, but I have never seen it disappear from the menu. They also have free soft serve ice cream!
Review Source:All-you-can-eat salad bar for less than $10? YES! (This review is strictly dedicated to that- so skip ahead if you're considering one of the more carbohydrous selections on the menu.)
Not only do you get a standard-sized salad container, you get a small container for your dressing AND a one-cup sized container for an additional side. Not only is it a great deal, but it can legitimately feed you for the entire day if you make your salad bar selections wisely and load everything to the top.
Forgo the offer to add chicken for an extra $2- you will be sorely disappointed with the meager 2-3 oz. portion that you receive!
I've been to suburban Jason's Deli but this is the first time I've tried this loop location.
I thought I would just pick up a quick lunch to go, so I ordered a bowl of chicken noodle soup thinking it would be fast and easy.
I wound up waiting 35 mins....for a bowl of pre-made soup. I let my displeasure known to one of the managers and they offered me a cookie as consolation and reminded me they also offered free soft serve ice cream to everyone.
For a chain that professes their love of fresh healthy food they sure do try to load you with sugar.
I was just at Jason's Deli (receipt stamp time of 11:45am) and ordered a Chicken Club Salad. Â I live about 5 blocks away and was home by noon when I realized they didn't put any chicken in the salad! I called Jason's and to my amazement, Nancy the catering manager said they would deliver a new salad to me in the "next few minutes." By 12:45pm there's nothing. Â I called back to speak to the same woman, Nancy, and she informs me that I live outside the delivery radius?? Now, if she had told me that on the first call I would have walked back to change the order, but no. Â She failed to mention this. Â I'm giving them the "1 star" for poor customer service and I suppose a chicken salad minus the chicken calls for a "1 star" for the food too.
Review Source:I realize it's my own fault for going to a chain deli. I guess I should have stuck with the salad bar.
Me: I'd like a pastrami on Rye
Cashier: Would you like mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato on it?
Me: You're joking right? Just mustard. Yellow.
I should have walked away then but had pastrami blinders on.
Sandwich, Chips(which are included) plus drink set me back $10.27
I wait and get this sad excuse for a sandwich. Not large like a deli pastrami sandwich should be and the fattiest pastrami I've ever eaten.
I knew I should have sucked it up and just waited in the long Potbelly line.
Oh, yeah! Stack that meat up! Â Yeah! Â Stack it up!
I could see the size of my "New Yorker" sandwich--half pastrami, half corned beef on rye with swiss--from across the dining room as our server approached our table.
For a brief, fleeting moment, I was afraid that my sandwich may eat *me*! Â It was an enormous stack of tasty, fresh-sliced meat.
More flavorful than Manny's (Go ahead, old timer, smack my face for saying it!).
There's an impressive salad bar, which I have yet to sample.
And drinks are self-serve and re-fillable.
All that for about $10. Â Niiiiice!
3.6
So I went here some time ago, but I had a weird enough experience that I HAD to review. Â
I went during the lunch craze of downtown, so it was busy and a bit disorganized, but the wait wasn't long enough to be noteworthy. Â I ordered the Poppa Joe (Toasted herb focaccia with turkey breast, asiago, roasted tomatoes, pesto, nuts, and mayo). Â It was yummy!
They had a large sandwich selection, a salad bar and soft serve ice cream. Â All the ingredients to a good deli. Â
Now we get to the reason I give them three stars. Â I went up to pay and I grabbed one of those mini chocolate milks with a straw. Â It was in the open drink bar in front of the cash register, but when I went to pay the woman told me it was for children only. Â I laughed, sure that she was joking, but no. Â She legitimately wouldn't let me purchase it. Â I offered to pay what I would for a soda and she refused. Â I asked her why it was in an open case for anyone to grab and she had no answer. Â Who turns away money??? I can understand if it was some half price specialty item, but I just can't believe that they would say no to money for a prepackaged drinks. JERKS! Â
I have hope that if a different cashier was helping me she would have given me the drink, and the food was good enough that I still recommend eating there, but the staff could use some customer service training.
Maybe next time I'll throw a little kid temper tantrum and they'll give me some damn milk :)
Update: Aaron, the regional manager got in touch with me and apologized for my experience. Â He said that he would talk to the general manager and make sure the employees knew that it's not company policy to discriminate against adults!! ...Okay, maybe he didn't didn't say it quite like that, but you get the idea :) Â Thanks Aaron!
What a great, new, awesome place to eat lunch in the Loop! Â My co-workers and I had lunch there today, and it was my first time, but their third time. Â They talked about Jason's Deli so highly that I had to try it out, and I'm really not into eating out at lunch when I live right across the street where I can make my own lunch, change into my pjs and lounge for 45 minutes before going to work. Â It takes a special place to deter me from going home for lunch.
I had The Great Rueben, and wow, it's an accurate title. Â The corned beef was perfect, the sauer kraut was German goodness reincarnate, and the size made the price worth it. Â I paid $11.38 for the reuben sandwich, chips, a long slice of pickle and a fountain drink plus soft serve ice cream. Â The fountain drinks are $1.99 and all you can drink refills. Â You can keep going back to the fountain and chosing from an assortment of soft drinks, tea, sport drink (pomegranate - not so good) and water. Â The soft serve ice cream is free, and all you can eat. Â There is also an all you can eat salad bar which is a big deal in the Loop, if you've ever been to all the cafeterias that weigh your salad, like Mac Kellie's. Â It gets really expensive really fast, and you find yourself being talked out of getting cherry tomatoes because they weigh too much.
We watched a guy take a salad plate and make himself a sundae from the soft serve ice cream. Â I'm sure that was a no-no since he was dipping into the salad bar for the strawberries and nuts, but the hot chocolate drizzle is free with the soft serve, and I have to admit, it was a brilliant idea. Â But then, you realize idiots like that are the reason free doesn't stay free for long. Â Then, we watched another guy steal rolls from the salad bar. Â I feel really bad for the deli and staff because it's so packed and crazy busy in there at lunch, they probably can't keep track of everybody and everything so they lose a lot of food to people who steal. Â There is a huge "on your honor" system going on in there. Â Hopefully, the honest people outweigh the dishonest people and can keep Jason's profitable.
I've been to Jason's Deli a couple of times. Â They are pretty legit when it comes to lunch. Â Portions are big and prices are pretty comparable to the next guy. Â Both times I've been to Jason's I ate the big chef salad. Â A huge salad loaded with ham, turkey, Swiss, cheddar cheese, tomatoes and black olives. Â The first time I got my salad to go and they gave me the wrong dressing. Â Instead of ranch I was given 1000 Island which is probably one of my least favorite dressing. Â Not sure if I was so hungry or the salad was just that good but I was able to eat it without dressing and was still completely satisfied. Â The second time I went I dined it and the salad seemed twice as big as a to-go salad. Â You get to go up to the salad bar to get your own dressing and I had the lite ranch... amazing. Â I devoured the entire salad without thinking twice. Â Their sandwiches look pretty good and they have a great all-you-can-eat salad bar for like $8. Â Not bad.
Review Source:THEY HAVE THE GOOD RANCH.
You know what I'm talking about. Bad Ranch is sour, runny, and little herb flavor. Good ranch is thick and creamy and full of herbs and spices. And they have it "on tap" at the salad bar!
There are also a slew of menu options from stuffed sandwiches to smashed and stuffed taters and chock-full salads. I'm a sucker for a salad bar myself. The staff is extremely friendly- no small feat to find in the Loop- and will stop what they are doing to assist.
My only caveat with Jason's Deli is the complicated line situation. I didn't realize I needed to go to the counter, pay for a box and then head over to Ranch Land. At least I know next time.
I have been here a couple of times for lunch and, above all else, what stood out for me was how friendly the staff here is!
It can be a bit daunting to pick the perfect lunch order from a menu so large and I have to admit I did ask for a few substitutions here and a few add-ons there. Â Sue me! Â Anyway- the staff at the counters were super accommodating and more than happy to help me pick the perfect meal.
Food was good too! Â Ordered the turkey sandwich which came with my choice of soup, fruit, chips, and there were more options but I can't think of those right now. Â I chose the French Onion and I was pretty pleased! Â Another time I ordered the fruit and it came with a fruit dipping sauce! (want to win me over-? give me dipping sauces).
A nice atmosphere and good food at reasonable prices. Â Good job Jason's deli.
I was elated to discover a Jason's Deli within walking distance of my new office!
First of all, thechicken salad at Jason's Deli is phenomenal. I don't like mayo so I'm generally not one to order out chicken salad, tuna salad, etc. However the chicken salad here actually tastes like, gasp!, chicken not just mayo.
The all you can eat salad bar is a great deal since a build you own salad at a lot of downtown places can easily run you $10. Â It's got a great selection or veggies and sides.
The space itself is pretty large. We got there right around noon and had no trouble finding a seat. They did mess up my order a bit, but I think that was at least partially my fault and they corrected it right  away.
FREE SOFT SERVE ICE CREAM CONE? Â Sign me up!!!
This is my new favorite lunch spot in the Loop. Â I've been here at least twice a week since they opened (Sorry Potbelly and Halsted Street Deli!) Â The menu is huge...almost overwhelming. Â I've tried the following and loved everything: Â
California Club (toasted croissant with turkey breast, bacon, swiss, tomato, sprouts, mayo, guacamole)
Tuna Melt (tuna salad, swiss, mayo, tomato, grilled on whole grain wheat)
The Plain Jane Baked Potato (natural buttery blend, cheddar, sour cream, bacon, green onions) -- the baked potatoes are HUGE
Chicken Pot Pie Soup
Chicken Club Salad (natural, grilled chicken breast, romaine and iceberg lettuce, grape tomatoes, sliced avocado, cheddar, asiago, bacon.)
All sandwiches come with regular or baked chips and a pickle. Â There's also a huge salad bar that has many organic options.
I'm so happy that Jason's Deli finally opened up here in Chicago! The menu is impressive - boasting everything from salad to pastas to panini's and "wrapini's." I've been here twice and both times found the staff to be incredibly helpful and excited to see you.
I loved the bread they used for my Chicago Club. I refridgerated half of it and ate two days later and the bread was still soft.
I'm too indecisive for my own good - so this will likely be the place I return to over and over again because they literally have something on the menu everybody can enjoy. Oh - and the free ice cream is a nice little perk!
First (and last!) visit to this particular chain. Â For a basic soup-n-sandwich combo it didn't seem like a bargain, but I figured (if it was any good!) it might me worth it! Â
Ordered online for pickup, and that's where stuff started to go wrong.  Got there at the BEGINNING of my half-hour "window", and could not make the gal at the front understand that I wanted to pickup an order already made.... had to go through the roped zigzags to get to the register, where they  DID understand I was just picking up, and told me "Oh, pickup is over there".
Did a snatch-n-run, got back to office to find STONE cold onion soup that was low on onions or onion flavor (but oversalted to make up for it!), a TINY sandwich to go along with it (the folks who write "generous portion" for this place are simply lying) that was (no other word for it) disgustingly greasy.
Definite pass. Â There are enough better sandwich places in the Loop that you needn't try this one!
Came here for the first time for lunch today. Â Its nothing mind blowing, but they executed their business right. Â The workers were friendly, the place was clean, and their service was good.
I had the salad bar and for $7.50 all you can eat, you can't go wrong. They even have sides and pudding/mousse for dessert. Â While I can't vouch for their sandwich/soup selection, I'm def going to add it to my downtown lunch rotation.
Winter's creeping up on us, but that hasn't deterred Jason's Deli from offering free soft-serve ice cream to dine-in guests. This location replaces an old, skanky Arby's and I think a crusty Sbarro Pizza location.
You can tell that they're still working out the kinks as the young, nervous staff works hard to show you where to go and try to explain food options. If you've not experienced the pager system, be prepared to give your order and place a buzzer on your table, where the staff will bring you eats.
Jason's offers an all you can eat salad bar for $7.59 and has a host of healthy options on the menu. Â The manager's special is either half a sandwich and soup or a remix of that. Â They don't use high fructose corn syrup, MSG or artificial dyes, but do use all natural ingredients and sport the motto "Be Real." on staff t-shirts.
The Dearborn location offers a huge dining room and is across from the Goodman Theatre, just west of the State/Lake CTA train station.
