A bar is the experience it provides. Johnny J's has a lot going for it as most of  the other reviewers have mentioned before-flat screen TVs with HD turned to sports and tolerable music levels that are not distracting to the max. Sadly, the staff , specifically the bouncers(is that still the term?) are grade A j-a***es (or Major League A****s in Dubya speak).

2:15 am: Step into the bar to catch highlights of the NBA playoffs and the NFL draft. Steph Curry on fire and as a fan I can't get enough. Why did we take McFadden? Trading up for Te'o a smart move? How many QBs do the Jets need? Should there be a mercy rule for the Lakers and Celts this time!

2:17: Order 20 oz of Yuengling Black&Tan. Not told that the establishment is to close in 13 minutes.

2:28 thereabouts: Loud yell that the place is shutting down. Do my best to gulp down the brew. From 1/4 empty to 1/4 full in about a minute. I hate chugging beer.

2:29: Category 5 A-hole Bouncer starts breathing down my neck. This is verbatim: 1. "Chug that beer now or I am taking it from you." 2.  (5 secs later) " You have 15 seconds". 3. "Should have thought about the beer when you ordered it."

All this while there are more than 20 (yes I counted while I was gulping down the Yuengling) people still lazing around that the guy has not said a single word to. He is zoned in on me. I very politely point out that I was not told the place was to close in 12 minutes, when I ordered. Leave about 1/8th of the beer unfinished with my tip(because it wasn't the bartender's fault, I figured) .

Too bad that this would be my last time at a place that could easily have been my go to with my friends for sports. There are a number of options in North-East Ohio for sports lovers. Heck, Scorchers down the street is not half bad. If the staff is rude to the extreme then we just move on to the next place.

Get your house in order JohnnyJ. Its a nice place for sports lovers once you fix your j-a*** bouncer issue.

Large place with lots of seating options perfectly fits the eclectic and fun crowd that varies from the older "locals" to the hipsters. Drinks are well priced, which is good since the service is outstanding and our glasses never hit empty without a refill ready. There are few true bars that I would make a destination for a meal, but the food here is really well prepared and the menu has pub food plus some really great sandwiches and salads. Definitely a NW Akron gem!

My favorite bar in The Valley, period.  Great beer selection, typical bar food (but tastes great!), good music and a lot of TVs.

Great Steaks on Thursday nights~~  Better than most steak houses.  We are back every Thursday.

Yeah... great bar. Outside seating. Good drinks and wide beer selection. Typical bar food. Plenty of TVs. Everything you want in a local chill spot. It is easy to stay here and have way too many. Luckily I walk here. Bartenders are truly lovely.

Johnny J's is definitely the best place to watch the game.  Any game.  They have a million flat screens.  I love Browns Sundays on their patio in Fall and Indians games in the summer. The food is pretty good and they have a huge menu.  Taco Tuesday is the best.  99 cent tacos?  For real?  Count me in!

Their drinks are reasonably priced and well prepared.  Thank goodness, because it's easy to stay there and drink for a long time.  I have proven that a number of times.  I am always so exited to see how small my bar tab is.

Great crowd in the afternoon and evenings.  I usually split around 8pm (unless there's a game on) when the crowd gets a little "youthful" and the backless tops and Uggs start outnumbering the jerseys.  I am sure it's a blast.  Just not my cup of tea.  Probably time to head up the hill in search of jeans, t-shirts and flip flops....

Excellent food. Great service (the servers all share tips, so your glass never goes empty!) and did I mention that all the servers are hot!? 5 star place!
