Finally! Good...no...fabulous pizza in Wilmette! Thin crust, fresh ingredients, right combo of spices. Not your usual cardboard crust and heavy, gooey cheese. Tastes like pizza from the mom and pop pizzerias from back in the day. Winnetka's loss is Wilmette's gain. Try it...you'll love it!

My wife prefers thin crust pizza (I am a deep dish fan) and we recently discovered this place.  GREAT pizza! The crust is thin and crispy, and happily avoids the biscuity taste so prevalent in Chicago.  We look forward to trying more things on the menu.

JP's is not your average pizza joint. there is much more to look forward to while coming in here. The service is wonderful, the food is great, and the prices are excellent. One thing I can definitely say that I like about this place is getting here. It's right off the purple line Linden stop. I work in the city, so that's very convenient.

The staff are very wonderful as well. Very attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. They make you feel like you've been coming here for years even if it's just your first time.

The bottom line, don't take this establishment just as "some pizza place". It's much more than that. Try every single thing on the menu if you can. It's worth it.

Soup was very good.  For the convenience it was excellent.  And much better than expected.  We thought it was just a generic neighborhood pizza place but they had great pasta selections over the spaghetti and mostaccioli as one would expect.   We ordered pesto cavattapi and gnocchi--both very good.  Plus we had a choice of a number of very drinkable $20 wine bottle specials.... Can't go wrong with that!!

I have came many times the service is terrific and the food is top of the line. I ordered the Wise Guy, one of the best pizzas I ever tasted! The owner is really friendly and waiters are very polite. A very nicely kept place. Also kid friendly. I recommend you try them out.

Wish i knew about this place before. We just wanted some drinks before hoping on the EL. Dropped in for some beers and shots for nice and cheap with a good strong pour.

will definitely be back to try the food and anytime i want a drink before the train

good variety of pizza's.  great thin crust.  The alfredo sauce pizzas are not heavy tasting.  Really good.  Nice people and quick delivery...

This place is a little under-appreciated in my book.  We happened upon this pizzeria and found it to be a nice little diversion from the usual pizza place.  The service was amazing, the food delicious and the beer selection righteous.  They even accommodated us by creating both a custom pasta dish and a custom ice cream  serving that weren't on the menu for our toddler.  I think the only thing this place could possibly use more of is a bit more ambiance and personality to go along with everything else that's working well.  We'll definitely be back and are certain that if more people gave this place a chance, it would probably be packed.

An update:  The manager at JP McCarthy's contacted me and apologized for my unfortunate dining experience.  He also has offered me a restaurant credit.  I appreciate the fact that they took the time to contact me so I wanted to update my negative review.

Love this place! Great little neighborhood pizza place. We have tried many of their pizzas and have never been disappointed. I have enjoyed their salads and potato gnocchi too. I've also been very happy with their service even when packed the food comes out in a timely manner.

    Gluten-free pizza. Hello.

I work nearby. I like that this place is close. I like the gluten-free pizza. I like the restaurant's discount for local businesses. I like their salads. I like that when I dine here with others, everyone can basically find something they enjoy.

The drawbacks are that sometimes food can take a while. But, maybe that's just what happens when you eat at a table where you order a salad and 3 other people order pizza. Whatever. I can usually be patient.

I have heard rumors that they can also serve sandwiches on gluten-free bread, but I've never ordered this. Something to put on the to-do list, perhaps.

Normally I don't write bad reviews because most of the places I go to aren't bad. That being said, I have no intention of ever returning to this place again.

Two stars because the interior of the place is pretty nice, and so is the staff working there; the restaurant itself is clean and tidy, and our waiter was courteous and quick. The food, on the other hand, was overpriced and not well prepared.

I had the McCarthy Burger and my mom had the fish and chips. I ordered my burger medium, but it came to me burnt, and I could taste more of the grill than the meat. Fries were nothing to write home about. My mom described her fish and chips as being "too soggy, too salty, and too little". This was not a burger and fries worth paying $10 for, and the fish and chips were certainly not worth $12.

We gave it a shot, and this will probably be the first and last time we eat here. My suggestion is to take your money elsewhere.

This place is great for kids and parents. We were thrilled when they moved to Wilmette and hope they stay a long time. I love the no frills look with quality food that looks as good as it tastes. We get pizza delivered too and are always happy.

We tend to eat here once a week and always look forward to it.

Wow Lotsa bitchy peeps in Wilmette. You'd think they'd cut this place some slack since it opened  up at a bad time during this abysmal economy and cold weather season. The pizza tastes great in my opinion and the father and son team are as nice as can be. The family that lives 4 blocks and gets it delivered??You have other problems but I digress. Go here and support your local businesses folks! The pizza is good and yes the atmosphere needs a little more TLC but I'm glad to support it!

A little overpriced and average food. We were the only two in the place on a Thursday night, which felt strange and like everyone else was avoiding the place. Santa Fe wrap was good. Fish in fish n chips tasted less than fresh. Service was good.

I'm done with ordering from here. This is the third time we have ordered from them and the third time our food has arrived cold. We were promised 30-35 min for delivery tonight and over an hour later our food arrived. They did not bring utensils or napkins--we had needed both.

My husband's burger was so so and certainly not cooked the way he asked. I got a greek salad with chicken. It was mostly lettuce and kalmata olives (had more veggies the first time) and the chicken was cold and dry. Also, most places bring bread when you order a salad-they did not.

We live 4 blocks from here. Its a shame-we won't bother going there or ordering again.

As local residents, my family and I are always hopeful that good restaurants will open and thrive in the 4th and Linden business district. When JP McCarthy's arrived, we were cautiously optimistic. Every time we drive past, there appears to be a good flow of patrons...so we decided to give a delivery order a try.

We ordered a pizza and some beef barley soup....and everything was delicious! The soup was made with all fresh ingredients...even some fresh dill, which really brought out all of the flavors....the best beef barley soup I've had!

The pizza had equally fresh, delicious ingredients. I was happy to see artichokes on the pizza menu, and they did not disappoint! The crust was a perfect thin crust, with a great brick-oven...almost smoky taste.

Best of all, the order arrived in 35 minutes...much better than the 1-hour-plus we experience with other local pizzerias. We will definitely return, and can't wait to try more menu items!  Welcome to the neighborhood!

Sandwiches and salads are tasty but the pizza was very poor and lacked any flavor. If I don't want to cook this place is convenient.

The place always seems dead except for a couple customers and the atmosphere is very bland. For it's location, I wished this place would have more character.

This place is great for kids, and that's the only reason we ever go.  I don't think I've ever really enjoyed anything I've had there, except maybe the chicken fajitas which were a special.  The kids get paper place-mats to draw on with crayons and can order mac n cheese, chicken fingers, burgers, etc.  I think their pizza is OK, but not great, and I won't order the Margerita pizza again - that wasn't good at all.  In the summer the kids can play outside, but even that isn't as much fun now that they've taken down much of the play equipment that used to be on the patio.  If you sit inside they have a few big TVs and some gumball machines.  Mediocre wines, decent beers, service is hit or miss.

The pizza has wonderful crust, but is a little salty and greasy. Salads are gigantic and mostly standard romaine. Nice atmosphere and good for kids though.

I've been going to this restaurant for 10 years now. As an adolescent and into my adulthood. McCarthy's has it all. Great pizza. Delicious sandwiches (my favorite is the Turkey Sierra) and mondo burgers. Nice choice of sides (noting the slaw and mashed potatoes!). It's a family restaurant. During lunch you'll find business people and Mom's toting young (and often loud) children. That's why more often than not, I opt to pick it up and go.
