This place is my favorite sushi resteraunt. And let me tell you, I have been to places where i spent 1000$ on sushi for me and my guests, yet this place impresses me hands down everytime.
There is something about the freshness, simplicity, and ingredients (especially the spicy mayo) that makes this place rise above all the others.
Their tempura is also awesome, and pricing? well lets just say this will be the most economical sushi place you can go have lunch or dinner at.
fillet mignon quality at cheeseburger pricing. And for the lady below me who made a comment about the cleanliness, I always sit at the bar and watch the chef make my food and it is a very clean kitchen.
Try the spyder roll!
Spoiler alert: cranky old granny at the bar, which means everything is Asian, especially customer service lol 2 stars would do
But the food was so cheap: $4.95 for 2 rolls that fills you up with the goodness of healthy food, so 5 stars
I got nice parking spot but the dumpsters next to the restaurant smell bad so, 4 stars, final
(if you're a girl, don't order 2 lunch specials like the previous reviewer did... I was full til 8pm that day :D but do order spicy tuna, it was good, as reviewed
Whoa whoa whoa, where should I start...this place is horrible!!!... Soon as I walked in, I saw an employee or owner ( I didnt bother to find out) practicing his golf swing. Usually when I see something like that in a restaurant establishment, I run out...but I decided to proceed to the next step...The guy just smiled at me...there wasnt a "Welcome...hello, how are you today" ...I shook that off and decided to proceed to the next step...the same guy who was practicing his "Tiger Woods" golf swing, was the same one who decided that he wanted to make my food!!!...To make it worst he didnt even wash his hands and was about to make my "hand" roll....he is out his mind. (usually i run out of a restaurant at this point, i swear...but i wanted to give them a chance) So, I asked him to wash his hands...he said " why, I am about to wear gloves" Forreal! you cant be serious....I know when a customer as you to do something as small as that, it should be done with no argument... After going back and forth he finally washed his hands...(arguing with me as if I needed to eat his "hand" roll, there are many restaurants in the area) to make it worst...everytime i walk passed this restaurant, it is always empty and when they finally get a customer, they want to argue them down about washing their hands... then I told him that i wanted a spicy tuna roll with avacados and cucumber with crispy tempura flake...(not on the menu) he said,," oh no no,,,, that wont be good" I said..." huh, thats how i like it"...he said " no no...wont be good, no good" wow!! thats when I new that this guy was crazy...I said make it..." he said, Â " I cant make anything like that"...then, I walked out...
NEVER AGAIN!!!!
I sort of stumbled across this place a couple of weeks ago. Â It is located in a pretty unassuming strip mall in "downtown" Roseland. Â I was actually eating at another place in the strip mall and when I left I saw this place, so I stopped in to grab a menu. Â I saw their lunch special - 2 regular rolls for $4.95. Â I immediately decided that I would be heading back to give this place a shot.
I recently had my first lunch here. Â When you first walk in, the place isn't anything special but I could care less. Â There are about 6 tables and around 6-7 chairs around the sushi bar. Â I seated myself at the bar and my order was taken almost immediately. Â I was also very curious to see if they would let me order 2 lunch specials (4 rolls for $9.90) and they did, so I was very happy about that. Â I am going to split my review up into 3 parts for this place: food, service, and value.
I ordered quickly and even though the place was very busy, I was served my sushi rather quickly. Â I went with 3 spicy tuna rolls and a yellowtail roll. Â To be quite honest, the yellowtail roll wasn't anything special. Â I probably will not get it again. Â However, the spicy tuna rolls were awesome. Â Plenty of fish and just tasted amazing. Â They were seriously some of the best spicy tuna rolls I have had. Â Spicy tuna is my favorite type of roll so I was pleased that they were very good. Â Let me also say that I am a believer in the saying that you get what you pay for, so I probably didn't go in with the highest expectations. Â But, I was pleasantly surprised. Â Don't get me wrong - this wasn't the best sushi I have ever had but it was very good.
The service was awesome. Â My order was taken quickly, my food was served fast and my bill was handled super easy. Â I think they only had 3 people working and they were beyond efficient.
Obviously, the value was amazing. Â I got 4 rolls for about 10 bucks. Â That is almost unbeatable. Â This is definitely a great place to get a bunch of sushi without spending a ton. Â FYI, the lunch special says 11-3 - I don't know if that includes weekends.
Anyways, I will definitely be heading back to this place. Â Probably again and again...
I personally love this place. Cheapest decent-quality sushi you can get. The place is small and we normally get take out. Their lunch special is phenomenal. 2 rolls for $4.95. You really can't beat that. The quality of sushi is a step up from good supermarket sushi. I have not tried any of the special rolls, mainly cause the regular rolls are so cheap. I highly recommend you go when you need a quick sushi fix and don't want to spend a ton.
