La Griglia

Been here many times and have had many enjoyable meals here but our most recent experience was a real disappointment.  If it wasn't for our hardworking server, Kristen, I'd probably be giving this visit one star.  

My favorite appetizer here is the Cajun Calamari and I was looking so forward to having it.  We ordered it and when it came out, it didn't look right. It didn't taste right either. The pieces were glistening.  Turns out it was drenched in oil which made it both look bad and taste bad.  We sent it back and ordered something else.

Next, my wife orders the veal chop for her main course.  She couldn't cut it and that's when we realized it hadn't been cooked at all (read that to mean it was cold and raw)which was kind of strange since the cheese topping had a nice brown to it.  Also my Gangelli past with mushrooms was also way, way too oily.  I didn't send that back but only ate a little of it and trust me, rarely to I ever leave anything over.  

She did give us a complimentary dessert wine at the end of the evening but quite frankly the food was a major disappointment.  I know this is a very good restaurant but they really dropped the ball for us on this particular night.

Where can I start with this place?  
Location: although not in a great area, they offer valet parking, very convenient.  

Ambiance: old style Italian spot, the bar (our favorite) is pretty and fully stocked with your choice of aqua vitae. They also have an enormous (so I hear, I'm waiting for my tour!) wine cellar.  Ask for Miles or Vicenzo (be prepared to be dwarfed, they are both 6'4), best martini shakers!  

Food: Oh my! please, please, please bring your appetite... starve all day if you must! everything on the menu is sinfully delicious, absolutely try the cajun calamari, the lobster risotto, and if in season have the oysters! the tuna tartar is perfection... that's just the appetizer! Dinner, if they offer the osso bucco... take it! this is the kind of place where they make the veggies taste great too... hmmm, wonder what they're sprinkling on stuff! If you prefer fish, the Chilean sea bass, the crusted tuna pan fried, the clams over linguini (this is not on the menu, but if you ask Miles they will make it for you!), the pasta with seafood. Dessert, we ALWAYS allow Miles to order this for us, he seems to sample most of the good stuff and pass the info on to the clientele, way to take one for the team!  

We always have over the top service and incredibly delicious food! This is our absolute, never fail, I'm starving/want good service/great drink kind of place, I hope you can all experience it... at least once!  Happy eating!

this place is amazing!, its expensive but you get what you pay for the portions are big, service is impeccable.  They just get it right every time
