Recent visit.  We had a really nice appetizer, salad and an order of pasta. When the pasta arrived, I asked for some bread, which to me is pretty standard fare with pasta.  When the bill arrived, I noticed that I was charged $1.00 for bread!  A small saucer with 2 small pieces cut in half.  Come on!  Based on just that little experience, not sure I would return!  Way too many places in the area that don't rake customers across the coals, and know what to include and what to charge for!  Food good but not great for the rather high prices!

My daughter had a play date this Sunday in Oak Park.  Love the area!  Never heard of this place until the other mom suggested it. Kid friendly!  They have a cute kids meal, a coloring page and Cup O Crayons.  Cute.
While the kids dined from the kids menu, we, the fab moms enjoyed flatbread (bacon & eggs (she) and bbq chicken(me) ) AND mimosas.  The mimosas were weak.  Don't worry, we weren't driving anywhere with the shorties but we could've had a little more champagne in the glass for $11 bucks, you know what I mean?
    I will definitely come back.

This is a popular restaurant. However it disappointed me. The menu consists mainly of flatbread pizzas and panini sandwiches. In both cases the toppings (pizza) and fillings (panini) could not be more minimal. Last night I had the beef and cheddar panini and there was literally one thin slice of roast beef and of cheese in the sandwich. For $10 I expected something a bit more substantial and tasty. The pizza ordered by my companion was likewise all bread. It comes on a long board giving the visual impression that it's a banquet, but they manage to put so little meat on the bread that calling it "pizza" is a stretch. More like toast.

I just had a work dinner here with three others and we all had a great experience. Love that it's farm to table. Our server was prompt, friendly, and helpful with menu recommendations. We shared a meat and cheese board as a starter--tried three different cheeses and they were all great. We all ordered flatbread pizzas for our entrees; mine was the grape & gorgonzola, an unusual but very tasty combination. They serve Brown Cow ice cream on the dessert menu (a local favorite), as well as a few other options. I shared the panna cotta and found it a little too sweet, but still good. Prices were very reasonable. Wonderful experience and can't wait to go back!

Like many other reviewers have alluded to, service is fairly slow....but very nice people! The entire restaurant smelled like the kitchen had burned something greasy in their stoves, so once I left, I had to immediately go home and change as the smell had infiltrated every fiber in my clothes.

The food was good, but very small portion size for the price. The cuisine was a fairly comfort-food focused menu, there wasn't not too many crazy surprises on there. Drinks were a bit overpriced as well.

The crowd was a mix of people with children, families, and couples.

Overall, I think this place has a great location (for Oak Park, anyways), great interior, great branding, but the service needs to get better and prices to come down a couple $$.

I most likely will not be going back, and do not recommend it to my friends.

My work friends and I frequent Lake Street a lot both for lunch and after work.  Food is usually pretty good, but the service is pretty spotty.  Everyone on staff is very nice... just not very prompt.  We usually don't mind, but it has gotten rather ridiculous sometimes.

They do have a great cocktail and martini list as well as some tasty beers on tap.

I still adore this place, but I can understand why some people might not be fans.  There are few places that do a meat plate as well as this, and that secures a place in the husband's heart forever.  I am not as big of a carnivore, so I am happy that they have lots of other options for me, and a rotating seasonal soup (it changes far more often than the seasons) that is always creative.  We were in this last weekend and I was trying to eat a bit lighter, so beet salad it was!  Always fresh and full of beets and goat cheese.  The service is spot - on - even at the bar and the place just feels homey and comfortable.

One thing we noticed is that every other time we are in the place, someone seems to have a medical issue.  We are begining to think scammers are trying to skip out on their bill because one time it was a guy feigning light-headedness and when they called an ambulance, he didn't want to go.  This last time, some guy drank a vodka-based beverage and then claimed he was "sick" (this was St. Paddy's Day weekend and he insisted he had not had anything else to drink all day, and he was in his 20's).  Maybe we are bad luck??

Interesting menu - not what you'd expect from a bar-like place. Found their menu items to be a little more "sophisticated" - though their flatbreads are delicious. They have a very long list of wines and drinks. Service was great and super friendly. They do have some communal tables, so if you're not into that kind of thing then I would suggest you go at a non-busy hour so you don't have to wait for a table.

Stopped in early on a Friday. Price is OK, considering its in downtown O.P., looks to have a great selection of liquor, beer options are a little on the mild side. Salad was good, lamb sliders seemed a little dry. The overall atmosphere was good, music & decor especially. I will come back here and try the brunch.

This is a tough call.  The first few times I tried to go here, I was turned away because the wait was over 40 minutes on off-peak times and then once I finally got a table, it wasn't amazing.  But, I have no big complaints about the food once I finally got a chance to eat it.  So, I have hope for this place.  I will return (for their wine flights!) and hope that their food will live up to my 4 star rating.

The food was pretty good and the service was fast (almost too fast really), but we had a bit of a bad experience with other guests.  While I might not hold this against a restaurant, the guests were all friends of the employees so of course nothing was done about it and actually made it worse.

We had reservations (via OpenTable) for 6.  We arrived a few minutes early and were offered our choice of two tables. Both were near the door (it was winter and very cold) so I chose the one that I thought would be the least breezy. Poor choice. The table was right by a little area with two sofas and a coffee table that I would have assumed was just a waiting area before being seated if tables were not available right away. However, shortly after we were seated a group started streaming in and making themselves at home there. After they filled up the available seating, they started dragging stools over from the bar. This left my husband completely crowded in. One of the women in the group was literally sitting shoulder to shoulder with him and kept bumping into him. At one point someone broke a glass which meant there was extra shuffling around. The staff kept coming by and hanging out and chatting with them. Sometimes with our food or dirty plates. It was really obnoxious. If you want your buddies to come hang out with you at work, at least don't let them disturb actual customers. There was a large table open nearby that they could have used instead of crowding us in. It was open the entire time we were there.

We'd planned on going to a movie and allowed ourselves plenty of time to get a couple of drinks, apps, and dinner. The food came out very quickly that it almost had a wham-bam-thank-you-m'am feel to it. Given our annoyance with the party behind us we opted to leave and grab desert elsewhere before the show.

I'm glad that the food was quick and hot and fresh, but we felt a bit rushed. The food was pretty good and I'd try them again, hopefully with a bit of a better experience.

Nice addition to the downtown scene!  We went for a late lunch, and had a couple of the specials.  The pork belly panini was very nicely done, and the soups were delicious.  The beer list is great, and service excellent. The atmosphere was ok, I really think they tried not to have to many drinkers, they did not make the bar area conducive to hanging around or watching a game.  There is a long area of bar stools that seem like wasted space.  For a quick bite, this place is perfect, to hang out, not so much.  Will stop in again when near.

Yum! I came here for dinner with my boyfriend and his parents after Aripos down the street was closed. What a great alternative.

I loved my buffalo chicken sandwich (recommended by our server), and my boyfriend liked his sausage and pepper flatbread quite a bit.  I was nervous for my boyfriend's very picky, vegetarian, Asian parents because they had never been here before, but they easily found vegetarian-friendly options and enjoyed their food! What a relief (they ordered the eggplant panini and a margharita flatbread).

One thing that was a bit weird was that they don't serve any kind of fries... I feel like any restaurant with the name bar in the title probably should include those on their menu.  But with that said, this food is definitely a step up from any Applebees, TGI Fridays or Bar Louie!

Sooooo...We have now dined here four times over the last several months and twice in the last week.  Love the sandwiches (buffalo chicken), flatbreads (shrimp), and appetizers (sausages and lamb sliders).  We had a group and tried a variety of delicious desserts also!  Yumm.  Plus, they have a wonderful wine and beer selection (featuring many local options)!

The space is warm and cozy.  The wood burning over really adds to the atmosphere.

The service was excellent on all occasions.  On the third visit, the lamb sliders arrived after the entrees, and without asking or complaining, the server advised us that they were complimentary and apologized.

This is a great addition to Oak Park!

The Lake Street Kitchen + Bar is superior to Bar Louie but I've definitely experienced better. The thing is, I don't really have anything BAD to say about the restaurant... Well maybe I do.

Every time I've gone to Lake Street Kitchen + Bar it's been lively. Nearly every table is taken and a party is going on off to the side. Although it's good for business, I'm not a fan of that. I've had to pick up the cushions from the chairs and brush off crumbs before sitting down. After being seated and settled with drinks, the manager has come up to us and asked if we would be willing to move. Oh - and parking can be a bitch since it's not THAT close to any parking garage.

The servers have really been top notch. The food has been okay, but I don't think it was worth the price. The drinks were really where the money was. The mixed drinks were yummy. They were creative and delicious.

I like this place.  More sophisticated than a typical tavern/bar.  Very thoughtful and relatively healthy menu. I really enjoy the barbecue chicken flatbread, which has a nice tangy spicy edge to it.  Dirty Bastard scottish ale on tap is tasty. The staff is very friendly and accommodating . Great addition to the neighborhood!

    Love this place!

I have eaten here 3 times recently and have had great experiences with food and service each visit.
Love the rotating menu and selection of drinks at the bar. Every time I am in Oak Park, I am sure to stop in, you should too, as it appears to me the low earlier reviews stemmed from the early stages of this place opening, which all restaurants experience.

By far one of my favorite hang out spots in Oak Park.
-Great food (the salads and flat breads are my personal favorites)
-Good wine selection and drink menu. Get a wine flight! They have great pairings and give pretty generous portions.
    -Fun/lively atmosphere :)
-Outdoor seating when the weather is nice...

Seriously, I miss this place. Maybe a visit is in order...

    SO
If you have read anything I have wrote on this site before you know that gastropubs are my thing, I love and crave them, and think we need more, and more people should eat at them.
So when I heard they were going to open up this little gem in my hood, I was all smiles and fancy dances. The Misses and I went about a week after they opened on a week night.
The place had nice decor, a major step of from the chain joint there before. The staff was helpful enough, the food was good enough, the vibe was acceptable. There was nothing really wrong with it, but it did not thrill me enough to return, nothing to make me pull away from my regular joints.

About a month ago I had to go get a haircut (Westgate Barbers), I happened to have a good traffic day on the way home from a meeting. I arrived in the area much sooner than I thought I would. I could have just gone home, but I was hungry, and then I would have to come back - seemed stupid to do all that.

I decided to get a late lunch at the Lake Street.

    Well things have changed.

The Bartender greeted me when I walked in, as did the wait person. I sat at the bar. First thing i noticed was the beer menu (taps) had gotten much better. All I needed to do was even give half a inclination that i was interested in beer, and out came the owner. The three of us in a beer nerd frenzy, gushing over magic of beer.

The food got better, the staff was better, the groove was better.

Since then we have been back regularly.

I like going there for lunch, it is quite, and you can chat with the bar keeps about food, beer, or whatever comes up.

The best part is they really make it a family place, my definition of a family place is most likely different than most.

I do not mean there are loud children's music, or games, or crayons on the table (all though I do like that), I mean it is a place where all members of the family can go, sit, eat, and be happy.

I like the flatbreads a great deal.

I like it, I go here, and I think you would like it it you went here.

My wife and I are likewise baffled by the negative reviews. We have been here twice and have been very pleased by the unique menu and bar selections.  The ambience is very comfortable. Salads are generous and fresh. Crazy delicious flatbreads (grape and rosemary; shrimp and corn) and panini (buffalo chicken). Waitstaff were playful with kids in the restaurant and the manager, James, made it a point to personally ensure our satisfaction. Come here and enjoy!

This is a great place to hold a mid-day meeting.

I've been there a couple of times now, both for business meetings.

There is ample space to meet with paperwork or laptops, and the service is great.

The food is very good, I highly recommend the Taco Soup. They're very accommodating in regards to modifying the food; I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich, and asked for the blu cheese on the side (let's be honest blu cheese is gross), because my client wanted it with his salad. They were more than happy to do that for us. The prices are not bad, I'd say for the service and the food, right on par.

A visit in Oak Park should definitely include a stop here.

Lake Street Kitchen is a nice addition to the Oak Park dining scene. It isn't fine dining, but the food was good, the service OK and the ambiance comfortable (if a little noisy when the room was full on our arrival).

We started with a beet and goat cheese salad that was nicely dressed with a lemony vinaigrette and featured creamy, tangy goat cheese. Our two flatbreads (arugula/garlic, marherita) were good; the crusts were crisp yet chewy, the flavor pleasant (yet both could have used more flavor, like more garlic on the former, more basil on the latter). For calibration, one flatbread is enough for one hungry person; it could be shared as a snack for two diners. The wine list is well-chosen and the pours by the glass give good value.

LSK will definitely be on my list of possibilities if I'm looking for a convenient casual dinner in Oak Park.

Since its opening, I've been to Lake Street Kitchen + Bar probably two dozen times. I don't come here if I'm short on time or trying to make a showing at the Lake Theatre: They are notoriously slow with service.

However, I've noticed a big change in the last couple months. Service is getting faster, and the servers are getting more competent. The bar selections are fantastic, and the limited menu is really, really good. If you can't decide what to get, I recommend the Arugula and Garlic Flatbread. Delicious!

Although I do not techinically live in Oak Park.. the history of my historical home directly across the street says that I would've once been an Oak Parker (thanks for the cheaper tax! )..  This has got to be a great place to hang out. Love the Young Owner who is EXTREMELY Sweet and hospitable! the perfect way to keep your business afloat.

The Food is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!! It's really inexpensive.. Those pizzas are to DIE For and their foo foo drinks are delicious and classy.

I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews for this place. I've been here a few times (my sister lives in Oak Park), and have never been disappointed. I've tried beers (gluten free!), wine flights and specialities. Also taken part in cheese plates, flatbreads and sandwiches.
Our server on Friday was polite, didn't hover and even swapped out a wine from my flight that was horrible.
She split up our checks with no problems and made sure to check on us regularly. My sister, her friend and I stayed later than most of the others that started dining around the time we did, but the staff didn't seem to mind.
    I'd definitely return again.

After my initial good review, I had number of friends who went and were worried I was losing it as their experiences apparently paled in comparison to mine.

My wife and I have been back twice since and I have to say, I'm still a fan. We went last night, sat outside on a very comfortable evening, and the service was very good.

I had the chorizo and olive flatbread which I really liked and my wife has the chicken tortilla soup which she also really liked. Local beers on tap were excellent as always.

Maybe this is just a case of different expectations. I see here as an upscale pub, not a fine dining establishment, and I also think the prices reflect that. We each had a beer and enough to eat for under $40 including a 20% tip. That's a great deal for a cool pub in my book.

I'll continue to go back and if you haven't tried it in awhile, perhaps go in with a new mindset and see if you change your mind. It's a great addition to DTOP so I hope even if people don't come around on the food, the nice bar scene and location will help it flourish.

Looking forward to seeing what the same owner does with old La Piazza space off of Madison and Circle in Forest Park, which I believe they recently purchased.

The firs time I went here was a rainy Friday afternoon. I sat at the bar and read my book. It was pretty quiet except for the non-pop music (yes!!!) playing. I went today on a Saturday afternoon and boy was it noisy! It was hard to have a conversation across the table. I still like the atmosphere but will not take people again who have hearing difficulties.

I super recommend the lunch special. For 9.50 you get either a half paninni or a half flat bread with with soup or salad and then they throw in either coleslaw or chips and a pickle. So. Many. Decisions!

The pork belly panini was fantastic! Juicy and tender and the half panini was  the perfect size. The tuna panini was excellent too. I am so excited when I can order tuna and it's not a blobby mayo-ladden tuna salad type deal

I like this place because they source their ingredients locally and have beer, wine or whiskey flights mainly locally sourced as well...and decently priced too!

Love it! I think they might have been working out the kinks and that might explain some earlier reviews. However, every time I've been here it's been a great experience and I started the week it opened...

Like the farm fresh idea and it's a welcome restaurant addition by our movie theater. "Field to Fork + Farm to Plate + Harvest to Hold + Bounty to Bowl" - that's kind of cool!

It's kind of a less-expensive version of Marion Street Cheese Market (also love!) I'm so lucky to have these two (and of course Mancini's - can't leave out Al's place) within walking distance of me.

Was confused about the grilled cheese panini also. Though I wasn't offered the chance to get all 4 cheeses in one like another reviewer when she tried to order that way. Maybe they realize that should be an option now.

Salads are delicious and the soups are hearty. Yum. Décor is nice and cozy elegant and you can surely find a romantic corner for a date but you can definitely bring kids which is what I did recently. My son and I had a great date night on Wednesday with live Jazz! What a nice treat!

Charcuterie (fancy word for meat) and Cheese platters, live jazz, and wine, beer, and now whiskey flights - to think this space use to be a bland corporate-chain Cosi's!   Not any more!

Really, I don't get the hate for this place. I've been there twice for meals and once for drinks and had a perfectly lovely time.

Our last visit was at 6:00 ish on a Saturday night. We had tickets to a performance at 7:30, and told our server that we didn't have long. Even though the place was full, we were served quickly and got the bill without having to ask for it. I was impressed at the level of service, because I was sure there was no way we'd get to the concert in time, but we did.

I usually order whatever soup they offer, and it is always quite yummy. The hubby and I split a garlic and arugula flatbread.  I enjoyed the wood-oven crust and the chunks of roasted garlic.

Even though they have the ubiquitous flat-screen TVs around the bar (boo), it's not difficult to sit in such a way that they aren't in your face (yay).  Give it another chance, guys, it's a great neighborhood spot that is a huge improvement over the Cosi chain place that was there before.

I came here with 2 friends on a Sunday afternoon for lunch around 2pm.  No problem getting a table, even one with room for a stroller!  There were more than a few things on the menu I would have tried, but my stomach decided on the grilled cheese.  When it came out though it only had goat cheese on it.  On the menu it was listed with 4 different cheeses but I did not look close enough to realize that they were different cheese options, not all of them were combined which definitely changes things.  I asked our waitress if it was possible to have them remake it with a combination of all four cheeses and she said no problem.  A few minutes later I had a much more delicious grilled cheese sandwich in front of me.

This is a nice alternative to your normal burger/sandwich lunch spot with a farm fresh angle to their menu.  Since we did come at an odd hour we didn't encounter bad service like everyone has complained about so my experience was pretty good.  I'd come back!

I almost avoided this place because of the terrible reviews, but I'm glad I gave it a chance because my husband and I had a good Friday night here.

We ordered a little of everything - their sweet potato and coconut soup was creamy and delicious, the charcuterie plate was accompanied by a nice red mustard, the arugula and roasted garlic flatbread was decent, and my husband's meat & potatoes entree was tender with rich flavors.

Our server, Robert, was attentive and considerate, and the ambiance was a combination of cozy and chic - a suitable place to watch a game with friends or enjoy a third date.

There are a few improvements they can make - the meat & potatoes dish really needed a vegetable side and better visual presentation for the price, and a pasta salad or salad would be a better side for panini than chips.  But whether you like this place will depend on your expectations - if you considerate it as a nice bar with higher end bar food, you'll have a good experience.  Oak Park restaurants are overshadowed by and judged against more polished City joints, which gives them a bad rep at times.

But judged by itself, it's a fun farm-to-table bar where you can either have a $10 or $20 meal.  And unlike the city, there's plenty of parking.

Woah... I was NOT prepared to see an overall rating of 2 stars when I logged on to yelp Lake Street Kitchen and Bar today! My hope was that this place was kicking ass in Oak Park (we could seriously could use a few more NON-chain restaurants downtown OP, especially one that won't give you strange looks if you just want to have beer for dinner).  However, I can see how it would be possible that my super mediocre experience was a result of awesome luck or just good timing.

We happened to stumble in this place for lunch on a weekend afternoon around 2pm--at the tail end of any possible lunch rush. Therefore, our server was perfectly attentive. From my end, I'd say 4 stars for service. But I don't usually review based on service... unless I leave bloody or injured (see Bar Louie). Reviews should be all about the food.

And so we move on to the food. I enjoyed my soup. Sweet Potato Coconut or something like that. But the tuna sandwich was a little dry... had to ask for a side of mayo so I might be able to swallow it. My husband also had good soup, though I do not recall what the name of it was. His sandwich, the pork, was just so-so. Nothing to write home about folks. But I must say, the creativity is there... they just need a little more time to perfect the execution (hopefully they are working on improving their execution?)

I do have to give a special shout out to their tea list, for all you tea snobs out there. They do have loose leaf teas and I can vouch for the pear oolong--which was wonderful.

All and all, this isn't a place I will come running back to, though I have considered heading that way for a beer or bloody mary.... I'll keep you posted... until then...

Today was my second trip to Lake Street Kitchen + Bar.

On my first visit, we stood awkward waiting for the hostess to finish her personal conversation to seat us. Once seated, it took over 5 minutes just to get water, and another 5 to get menus. It seemed like none of the servers (of which there were many) knew who was responsible for our table. When a server finally noticed us, nobody apologized for the lengthy wait.

Between the three of us, we got three flatbreads and the seasonal soup. The flatbreads varied in quality. Mine was the sausage and pepper, which I enjoyed. It was salty, but not overpowering. The chicken and spinach flatbread, on the other hand, was bland with sparse and uneven toppings. The third flatbread was unremarkable. The seasonal soup was butternut squash. It was overly sweet, with too much nutmeg.

Today was my second visit. I had hoped that since my first visit things had improved. They have not. The service was still poor. Despite the fact that the restaurant was not nearly full and our server walked past our table a number of times (I think to check her phone or something else in her purse), water glasses went empty and dirty dishes were not cleared. It took a while to get our food, and then my friend's order was wrong. When it was corrected, the server that brought it apologized. Our own server never acknowledged the error. She also didn't check back to see if we needed anything, and was short with us when we stopped her to ask for the check.

We each got half a panini and a cup of seasonal soup. The soup was sweet potato coconut with lime, and was quite tasty. I ordered the bbq chicken panini. It needed more bbq sauce; it was dull and dry.

After paying the bill, my friend asked the bartender if she could speak to the manager. He said he was the manager. When she commented on the bad service, he said "She's not usually a bad server," and offered us shots. She politely declined, and he offered to adjust the bill. He then offered shots again, and she declined, saying we had to get back to work. He continued suggesting a drink, saying that he wouldn't tell our boss, and asked "What's the worst that could happen?" While it may have been an attempt at humor, it was inappropriate.

I can only hope James the bartender is not actually the manager, but have to wonder where the manager was that the service was so poor. I really want to like this restaurant--it would be a nice addition to downtown Oak Park--but the mediocre food and horrible service are not worth my time or money.

    UPDATE:

Dropped by LSKB again for some drinks after dinner for my girlfriends birthday. We all noticed that there was a couple of specialty drinks on the menu for the holidays. Appearently we were to late to have any as the server told us that it takes to long to make them and they they were "out." I think this will be the last time I spend any money in this place. it is a real shame to. the atmosphere in the place is great! It is just overshadowed by the bland food, and sub par service.

To think that I was going to apply for a line cook position before it opened. Man, am I glad I chose not to!  I believe that the Chef and the manager of the front of the house and the GM and the owner must meet for a serious action plan meeting concerning the whole restaurant and ways to improve their progress. I'm a little concern about it after my experience of eating a "casual" dinner here.

My closes friends joined me at dinner on a cozy night before at Lake Street Kitchen + Bar. This place seemed like a total hot spot! With a good crowd and some what good looking food from a distance. So, we decided to hit this spot and have a goop time!

What a disappointment, may I say. Why? You may ask of me....Well friends, stick around and I'll give you the Cintya list of things I saw that night:

    1. Coming inside the restaurant for the first time I saw the hostest chilling/kicking back. I wondered where her podium was so she can write down our names and let us know when my friends and I will be seated. She just eyed me and realized I was a customer and just said, "oh, follow me." I was surprised that we were not greeted or asked how many or wrote down any information down. Not much of a hostess. My friend, who was meeting us a couple of minutes after we sat down, had to scout us out from the masses while the hostess just sat down in her stool, not helping her out. Why? Obviously, because she did not know where she sat us down since she wrote nothing down!

    2. Just as I suspected, the "hostess" did not communicate with the server that we were sat in his section. So, as I predicted, we waited about 15 minutes for us to get some attention and drink orders in and we decided to place our food order at once too. It took another 15 more minutes to get our drink orders plus the waiter did not bother to ask for refills. My friend really wanted another drink refill because she was super thirsty.

3.My food order was simple, a cup of the seasonal pumpkin soup, a grilled cheese panini made with Gouda cheese, which they charge $1.75 more? I thought to myself, "this better be the most awesome Gouda cheese ever"!  What did I end up getting? Hold on to your seats folks! I got:

-COLD under seasoned pumpkin soup with wannnabe fancy cream design

-SUPER flat "grilled cheese panini" with a thinner slice of Gouda cheese than a real slice of cheese with a bunch of packaged potato chips that were stale, and 1/4 of a dill pickle. Oh, by the way, my "grilled cheese panini" was cold, very flat, and extremely chewy!

    4.  My first reaction of the cold pumpkin soup? Well, I sent it back! The girl that we waived to for help seemed annoyed, especially because she wasn't our server. The food runner was even more annoyed. What's with the attitude here? My goodness.

    5. I noticed that no one in the front of the house was wearing nonslip shoes. I would never allow anyone to wear flats in my restaurant! That's just a lawsuit waiting to happen! Plus, where the orders came out for the food runners to take out, there were no heat lamps to keep the food hot. No wonder all of my food along with my friends, was cold. Also, there was no real uniforms, everyone was wearing a different shade of black and different styles that looked off.

    6. I decided to not leave them a tip, but an actual written tip on how to treat customers. Plus  to keep this in mind!

    Oh gosh,
I can't believe we wasted our LAST night in the Chicago area having dinner at this sorry excuse for a restaurant.

Sure, it looks upscale, fancy, hip.
It's always full since it just opened and everyone around Oak Park flocked to check it out.

HOWEVER--- worst food I've had in a LONG time.

    Limited Menu.
    Food took forever.
They forgot my Coke, I had to order again, then it still took forever.

The soups were COLD, when we sent them back, we got ATTITUDE.
The server basically threw the plates at us after re-heating.

The grilled cheese sandwiches looked thinner than ONE slice of bread, with a THIN film of plasticky cheese that they charged 1.75 extra for.

My chicken/spinach/gruyere flatbread was a bunch of bread with no visible cheese (they even charged me like 2 bucks because i switched from goat cheese to gruyere) and thin strands of shredded chicken here and there, garnished with raw spinach.

They left us waiting for periods of over 40 minutes, more than once.

They did NOT refill our waters/drinks.

We left no tip. Service/food like that does not deserve it.

    No drink refills
    Cold soup
    Bland food
Flat grilled cheese PLUS you have to pay more for different cheeses
    Expensive for the quality

It's like someone knew how to execute the concept of the restaurant but they forgot to focus on the food! The place is beautiful, but please re-work the food!!! My friend ordered a chicken flatbread and she requested gruyere instead of goat cheese on it. They charged her $1.75 more just to change it! And she wasn't told there would be an extra charge.
