Every time I go, my table is treated VERY well. Just last week, I was apart of a seven top who asked many questions and probably came across as annoying to the server who was polite and professional. We ordered a lot of appetizers and pizzas and our server was top notch. The food is so good I enjoyed left overs the next day. I cannot get enough of this place. Bonus if you have the Cornerstone Card!
Review Source:Came here again for restaurant week. Â Was seated on time as my reservations. Â
Had the flight of wine with proceeds going to a local charity. Â Delicious. Â Service was great as always.
I can't say how amazing this place is for a girls night of wine, food, and laughs.
For restaurant week skip the truffle spagetti. Â It was almost tasteless! Â Order the beef and polenta! It's a winner! Â
Of course any pizza there is delicious and quickly served.
Ps they have their own parking lot behind the restaurant!! Don't be a fool and drive around and around...get your space!
Been here twice - once for dinner and the other for brunch. Â Both times, crappy service. Â The first, we waited for 10-15 minutes before our server came to the table. Â I don't know if she wasn't told she had a table or what. Â We had to ask the hostess for our server. Â The second time, service started out better - until our meals arrived separately. Â We had to ask where my plate was after 10 minutes of waiting. Â They also have bottomless mimosa's during brunch. Â I ordered a pomegranate one thinking it was apart of the bottomless, it wasn't. Â I wouldn't have ordered it had I'd known. Â Probably won't be coming back.
Review Source:It's taken me a long time to write this review. Â I've been here for brunch, HH, and dinner so I feel as though I have a very good feel for this place.
Brunch was delicious, bottomless mimosas for $10 is not the best deal in Denver but it a pretty good deal especially if you can drink like me. Â Not saying how much I had but let's just say I took advantage of the "bottomless" portion of brunch. Â I had the opportunity to try quite a few of the brunch options:
Crab BLT (my order) - Not my favorite, just okay
Breakfast Stromboli - The best thing on the menu - can I have 5 to go please?
Frittata - Stuffed full of yummy veggies, this is more on the healthy side
Chicken and Waffles - Some of the best chicken ever, waffles were meh
Mimosa's - You already know how I feel about these
Pancetta strips - A nice change from just straight bacon
Breakfast potato's - Meh, just okay
Happy Hour is one of the best in Denver, 3-7, seven days a week and 10-close. Â Wine $10 and under is $5 and wine over $10 is half price during HH. Â Great deal for the quality of wine on the menu. Â HH menu is simple and more munchies than anything else. Â The Salted Marcona Almonds are served warm and great for a healthy HH option, Fried Olives is a cool take on a bar snack, the Pancetta Dates with Blue Cheese was hands down my favorite, the perfect bite of food. Â I wish they had one or two items a little more substantial for HH like a flat bread or something along the same lines.
Dinner is also another stellar experience. Â The HOUSE MADE BURRATA is a creamy pillow of heaven on my tongue. Â The grape tomato and balsamic jam could be a dish unto itself, instead it compliments the Burrata beautifully. Â Do yourself a favor and order that to start, there's no going wrong with this. Â The Polpette (pork meatballs) is served in a small piping hot skillet with three meatballs with pesto and arugula, seasoned perfectly complimented by the pesto that will have your taste buds dancing. Â Â Have also tried the La Foresta and Nonna's pizza's. Â The Nonna's being my favorite so far with Italian Sausage, peppadew peppers, roasted fennel bulb and cheese. Â The flavors meld together so well.
Did I mention they have Strawberry Beer! Â Who knew that tasted so good - just like strawberry jam!
This is now my number one place, voted by me, as the best place to drink bottomless mimosas on a Sunday morning when you are totally hung-over and couldn't dream of eating. All my friends (co-eaters) were enjoying their wonderfully prepared brunch entrees. I must return to try the food.
Review Source:A group of us were at Lala's the other day for Brunch. I was kind of shocked that for brunch around 12 o'clock it was kind of dead. Granted the Bronco's may have been playing although who knows. Our group was of approx. 10 people and we did not have any problems with service. Our water glasses were always filled and the bottomless Mimosa's kept coming (well until we were all almost done eating) Their menu was great! Just enough choices where you still cannot decide between two options. My great debate was between the Crab BLT and the Nutella French Toast. The Crab BLT won although, the two others at my table that ordered it, it was not consistent. I mean bread toasting for all three of ours should have been the same. I mean that is really being picky but the dishes should look identical. Everyone else's food just look amazing.
I am excited to get back there an try their Dinner Menu and of course other items for brunch. Side note - Parking is horrible and at noon it still took me 15 minutes to grab a spot and that was still 3 blocks east and off of 6th Ave.
I live about 2 blocks from Lala's and have been a lot of times. It is a good spot for a date, happy hour, or a small meetup.
I regularly visit Lala's for a monthly blogger meetup, so I have tried many wines, appetizers, and a few desserts. The staff is generally knowledgeable about the wine selection, but knowing what you like is helpful to ensure you are happy.
Appetizers are great, and there are many small plates that have exotic inclusions such as duck prosciutto and unique cheeses.
The pizza is good. The wine is good. The place is well decorated and comfortable. I'm a fan.
Lala's has a great atmosphere, it feels like it should be an expensive restaurant but is actually decently priced. The wine selection is vast, I like to get the custom wine flights so I don't have to pick just one! They have delicious pizza, however my favorite thing on the menu is the meat and cheese plate. Unfortunately they usually have very long wait times on peak nights, and strangely there is nowhere to sit and wait! I have only been here for dinner, I would like to see what their brunch is all about.
Review Source:I LOVE Lala's! They have the best pizza and wine selection in town!!! Their dinner, drinks, pizza, apps and such are WONDERFUL! It is my absolute favorite and I always make it a point to bring all of my out-of-town guests there!
However, last week, I went to brunch there and was disappointed! The food, mimosas , service, etc, were mediocre! None of the other 3 people I was with were particularly satisfied with either their food or their drinks. I was especially dissatisfied because our server continuously asked us if we wanted a refill on our mimosas...for me, my thought is that if its bottomless it should be an automatic refill (such as they do at Root Down). Â That said, I will likely not be returning to Lala's for brunch. ONLY FOR DINNER!
I went here for brunch a week back.  It was very enjoyable.  I took full advantage of the bottomless Mimosas.  The service was excellent.  I was fortunate to be able to sample several dishes.  I particularly enjoyed the chicken and waffles (the chicken was moist and flavorful).  I thought the breakfast stromboli (eggs, Italian hash browns, spinach, housemade spicy Italian sausage and fontina cheese served with our housemade sausage gravy and hash browns was good and rather filling.  I can see why this dish is so popular  I was not a big fan of the eggs benedict.  This was two poached eggs on a English muffin, asparagus, sliced tomato, parmesan crisps and hollandaise served with hash browns and crispy pancetta.  The whites on  my eggs were a bit runny for my taste.  I think I would have preferred a more in-your-face salty ham on my benedict, to the subtle pancetta.
This last weekend, I came here with a couple folks for happy hour. Â I did not have a bad bite of food all evening. Â The salted Marcona almonds went well with my Peroni beer. Â The fried olives and bacon wrapped dates were both very quite enjoyable. Â We also had a couple of very affordable gourmet pizzas and some decadently rich Housemade Burrata (fresh mozzarella wrapped around housemade ricotta and mascarpone with grape tomato balsamic jam and arugula). Â The little tomato and arugula salad on the side was the perfect astringent counterpoint to the creamy cheese. Â Both pizzas (the La Foresta with basil pesto base, housemade mozzarella, portobello mushrooms, asparagus and oven dried tomatoes) and (the Nonna's with a red base, housemade spicy Italian sausage, peppadew peppers, roasted fennel bulb and Italian cheeses) were excellent. Â All glasses of wine during happy hour are $5 if normally $10 or less, or 1/2 price if more than $10. The service was, once again, excellent. Â I will definitely be back in the future. We had a ton of food, several drinks per person, and got out of here for around $30 each.
Now that was just a mighty fine brunch, if I do say so my mighty fine self!
Having been here a few times in the past for various occasions, when the invite for a brunch popped up I said to myself  "Self, you haven't been here for brunch yet.  Fix it!"  So I did.  (Meaning I accepted the invitation.)
We were given a table in front of the bar, plenty of room and the server was prompt as we all shuffled in. Â They offer $10 bottomless mimosas, very good coffee, and the menu was highly enticing. Â I decided to go with the breakfast Stromboli. Â It was filled with eggs, potatoes, sausage, and for a couple bucks extra, pancetta. Â a side of the house made southern gravy accompanied this, and the majority of us has something with this. Â I was very impressed.
Lala's is a great place for lunch, offers great pizza, is a fantastic date spot, and also one of the best brunches around. Â The staff and management are always friendly and accommodating, and it's in a great location. Â
Cheers!
I like the food and atmosphere at Lala's. They have a great wine list and are starting to add some good beers to their menu. I wish they would change up the food menu more often as it gets a little boring if you go there frequently.
What really sets Lala's apart is the SERVICE! There aren't many places that distinguish themselves on service anymore but this is one of them. The staff is friendly and prompt, and the few times I have had even a small issue a manager comes to the table and makes sure everything gets taken care of. Wow, what a concept! This has happened more than once and guarantees we will be going to Lala's for a long time to come.
Went here on a Sunday afternoon and enjoyed brunch. Dante the bartender is awesome and super knowledgeable. Despite their bottomess mimosas (which we did enjoy) he wipped up some mean cocktails in a thoughful manner and executed them perfectly. I will back just to see what new he has got up his sleve. Also the food seemed to have improved drasticly since my last time and i have been in many times all with great culinary results.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 was an interaction I had with another bartender late in the evening. Â They were still open and had a good crowd for that late but said bartender was very short with me as they took my order and generally unpleasant, I understand her frustration with what was probably an inordinately long, busy, streessful shift but its at these times service professionals earn thier stars by keeping as cool as they would be refreshed at the beginning of the shift. Other than that keep rocking on food and I'll be back for brunch soon.
The French like to call it "coup de foudre," which literally means "struck by lightening." Â But in the common vernacular, it mean "love at first sight." Â Yes, I had my own coup de foudre moment upon visiting Lala's and I'm not ashamed to say I'm in love!
Both visits have been quiet simple: Â an app of calamari and a carafe of sangria. Â I know Lala's offers up much more than this and I can't wait to return to try something proper off of the food menu as well as some of the many wines on hand. Â But what I've had so far has been wonderful. Â The calamari was tasty and the carafe of sangria was super flavorful and perfect to split with a friend. Â
What made me fall in love with Lala's was the ambiance and the decor. Â This place oozes class without being pretentious. Â I also love an opportunity to dress up and enjoy a glass of wine with a good conversation. Â This is the perfect place to relax in style.
Some times things can't be explained. Â But when the lightening strikes, you know you've fallen in love!
KILLER Happy hour. I know I have a lot of reviews about happy hours but don't judge and just love it. But seriously this happy hour is great. The happy hour is very long which is nice for 9-5ers who like to decompress a sec after work. A great place to meet the girls or for a date night. I see lots of bday parties there too.
The food is solid but not remarkably amazing for the neighborhood (there's some amazing fine dining around there though and they are not competing with that) and the wine program is fantastic. Friendly, efficient service!
It would be 5 stars if they still had salmon. Â You used to be able to drop in for a glass of excellent wine and a Salmon Caesar salad..But the new chef----- who doesn't like to make minor changes to dishes, has taken Salmon off the menu. Â Huge scandal! Â
Call me crazy but modifications for dietary preference or just because I want it done differently should be a no brainer for a really good chef. Â That said, you will not find more professional servers. Committing each order to memory and flawlessly! Â To sum it up, Lala's has the beautiful people thing going, ambiance and great service.....but we need to get salmon back on the menu. Â
NUF SAID.....
This my friends, is how you run a successful business in Cap Hill. Â I lived across the street from Lala's for about 3 years, and just moved back into the 'hood after a year hiatus. Â I forgot how much I missed this place. Â
There were a couple other restaurants in this spot prior to Lala's. Â The fact that I can't recall the names of said restaurants speaks to their fortune. Â So it goes. Â
In my opinion, the number one thing Lala's has going for it would be their approachable and affordable menus. Â When I hear "wine bar," I think pretentious and over-priced. Â Lala's could not be farther away from either of those descriptors. Â The wine menu is easy to read and well thought out, and every server I've had has been more than willing to offer advice. Â I am more of a beer/whiskey guy than a wine drinker but tell the server what you like and he/she can offer some delicious options. Â (They also don't point to the most expensive wine on the menu, always a plus).
The food menu is always a touch different in the times I've been. Â There seem to be a few mainstays, however. Â The pizzas are delicious, and every seasonal entree I've tried has been spot-on. Â PRO TIP: Balsamic vinegar is killer on their pizza crust, or really anything. Â
A major upside to Lala's is you can visit for a variety of occasions. Â I've been here on dates, business mixers (yowza), and for large family gatherings. Â You also won't feel out of place whether you are in jeans or a suit. Â Â Â
I may be in the minority here, but I love the brunch menu they offer. Â I'm a sucker for french press coffee and breakfast pizza, (although the last time I was by there they no longer had the b-fast pizza as an option). Â They don't bog down their light crust with soggy eggs, always a plus. Â Like bacon? Â Ask for pancetta, but request extra napkins because it will melt yo' face!
Before I moved, they did a Sunday night dinner deal that was a great value. Â If they still do this, I highly recommend it for a larger group. Â It limits you in your food options, but as an Italian I like the communal aspect of passing around food and yelling at each other using animated hand gestures.
The 5 star rating stems from the above, and also the fact that one time my reservation had been lost. Â The manager immediately apologized and brought out a complimentary glass of wine for myself and my date. Â We only ended up waiting ten minutes, but the prompt attention was appreciated. Â These things happen, but attitude and booze a long way in my book. Â Tip o' the hat to you Lala's! Â
Bottom Line: Â Look I'm not above blacking out and spooning a stranger in a gutter outside of Lancer, but sometimes it's nice to go somewhere a little more refined.
Lala's came highly recommended by my other gluten-free friends who said it was a good destination for such things. The positives were that the service was responsive, the staff sat us with no wait really and at one point, the GM even came by to make sure everything was good. On the flip side. I'd say that I was surprised (though I was later reminded other Yelp reviews had mentioned it) that the non-pizza portions were sort of small relative to price and while nicely presented, it certainly didn't offer the most filling dining experience unless you intended to consume several courses. (Perhaps then, by design.)
Still I tried some of the pizza and it wasn't bad. All in all, not a bad dining experience. The environment was nice, a good energy about it and a nice place to bring a group especially if some have dietary issues and want a bit of a selection.
This was my second visit to Lala's and it was just as pleasant as the first. Â The atmosphere and ambiance is relaxed but with just a touch of upscale. Â They have a large wine-by-the-glass menu for reds, which are my wheelhouse, so that was nice. Â I had a very good tempranillo along with the agnolotti pasta dish, which are small ravioli in a light cream & tomato sauce.
I would say that the portions (if you don't order one of their pizzas) are small, almost to the point of being a tapas style serving. Â Just a heads up.
The noise level was oddly high for the setting, but it was a Saturday night and very crowded. Â The service was very friendly and attentive which always rounds out a good evening.
I like this place. Â It's a perfect distance from me (not out of the way but not so close I'll be visiting too frequently), delicious food (pumpkin rissoto, anyone?... your answer should be yes!) for fair prices, and spunky bar tenders that are helpful and pretty awesome.
I want to sample all of their food so I plan to return multiple times in the next few months, at least once on a wednesday which is ladies' night and sounds pretty great
My new favorite spot!
My boyfriend and I had date night here. We got all sexified for a night out on the town. The atmosphere here is perfect, romantic but still casual enough to feel comfortable and laugh a bit. We ordered a bottle of Brut that was on special for 20 bucks! and it was really good (although the server didn't know how to present a bottle. Terrible wine service...) They also offer wine flights, 3 different wines for 12 bucks is not too bad. They bring out flatbreat to dip in olive oil and balsamic vin while waiting for the food, and the flat bread was to DIE for! We ordered the Calamari that came with a delish tomato sauce on top an arugual salad. I don't remember what the dressing was but I loved it... Finally, the best thing, PIZZA. The pizza we ordered was different: corn cream sauce, corn, lots of fontina cheese, oregano, and proscuitto. It was a perfect size too. The deserts looked awesome but we decided to fill up on bubbly instead ;)New date night stop.
If you have a gluten allergy, this is the place for you. Â I'm not a glutard, however, I will say that the gluten free crust here is actually better than the regular crust.
The wine selection is HUGE, and this place is ALWAYS hopping. Â Definitely make a reservation before you go in because there's no way you'll get a table at a place this good on the weekends without one.
They do offer happy hour seven days a week which is a great bonus and they have some great deals on wine and appetizers and they offer a Sunday dinner special as well, with spaghetti, salad and a drink that is really inexpensive...however, it is doused with garlic and more garlic. Â And while I love my garlic, it was a little much for me.
If you have a sweet tooth, the dessert is so good. Â Get the flight, it has creme brulee, panna cotta and a pot of chocolate creme mousse that is like heaven on a plate.
I have only ever had Sunday supper, so I can't comment on the regular menu. The Sunday supper brings us back because it is a lot of food for cheap. The pasta is good and garlicky. The salad has a very delicious dressing. But the pizza is kind of lame and the bruschetta is awful.
I wish the wait staff would bring out a reasonable amount of food to start too. We always come with 6-8 people and they bring out the same amount of food as they do for tables of 2-4 people. This isn't my favorite place but I get out voted because it is cheap and within walking distance.
Second time visiting. I really, really want to love this place. While the food and ambiance is good, the service from door to door left so much to be desired. We gave them many opportunities but they failed. Sorry Lala. Won't be back.
Details:
Arrived Saturday late afternoon before dinner rush began. Neither the hostess nor the three other servers who stopped by the hostess stand acknowledged us or seemed to know what was going on despite the near empty restaurant. Â
From there our server gave decent service but lacked any charisma and showed indifference throughout her service. She was one of the staff that stopped by the hostess stand without acknowledging us yet we remained optimistic. Other wait staff dropped off dinner without asking if we needed anything else, which I expect to be the most simple way of making guest satisfied as dinner arrives. Our server scoffed when I requested foil over a bulky to-go container (before she left to get either one)  and  upon returning ran off without the chance to ask for coffee and desert. The hostesses chatted among each other as we left without acknowledgment (Once again.)
On a high note, the food was good. We ate the Peach Bruschetta and their special pizza of the night. Pizza crust is excellent. Happy hour menu is good too. You can get a nice glass of wine at a good price. Â
Also, the music selection and volume was good. Whoever designed the acoustics did a great job in what could easily be a noisy venue. The open air from the operable windows make for al fresca feel which we are lucky to be able to experience so frequently here in Denver.
What I had? Â Stromboli Agnello (Colorado lamb and risotto meatballs, San Marzano tomato sauce, spinach, provolone, mozzarella) and Colorado grown quinoa salad.
Food review: Â Can't say I've had stromboli for a while so decided to give it a try here. Â The crust was first of all a little finer than what I've had in the past which was a nice change. Â The meatballs on the inside, however, proved to be a little overpowering. Â Pretty salty stuff but still somewhat enjoyable. Â It came with quinoa salad... which in retrospect I now see I could have gone with a better option cuz this stuff tasted like... water? Â :-) Â Yeaahhh..
Service? Â A little slow but to be expected for how crazy busy the place was but friendly
Other thoughts: Â Not the best first time food experience but the special of a course meal for $10 looked very enticing so might have to make it back here sometime.
Yup pretty good here. Open late...Thats why I went...have a patio...thats why I went...have wine...thats why I went...have food...also why I went. Â
Server seemed a little 'bothered'....but who knows with those servers....
anyway had a great beet salmon salad, had some good wine, although the house wine was better than the premium one I tried, which is good for me to remember next time...loved the cork walls...
I'd go back...:)
Meredith G and I headed over before our reservations at Mizuna to grab a drink.
We walked in and headed right to the bar - they must have known we were coming as there were two stools at the end of the bar. Â I can't really judge much more than the staff as I only ordered Club soda - it was nice and refreshing and my glass was never empty. Â Meredith wanted something with Lemoncello. Â The talented bartender whipped up a drink with Lemoncello, Preseco, and St. Germain. Â She said it was very tasty and the cost was an unbelievable $4.50.
My thought is that if you left a good bartender do what they are good at you will received amazing drinks.
We did look at the food menu while we were there and a few things caught my eye so I'll definitely be back to try them.
I've been eyeing this place for a few months, and figured tonight was a good time to try. Â I'm torn about the 2 star review - if possible, I'd give it 2.5. Â The good: Â decent happy hour, as others have written, wines under $10 are $5 during HH, wines over $10 are 1/2 price. Â Pretty good deal if you're looking to try a really great wine. Â The food was also awesome (but see below for the bad part). Â We tried 2 pizzas - both were really tasty - even better than I anticipated.
The bad: The service. Â We got there around 6:30 (30 minutes before the end of happy hour) and in their defense, it was busy. Â We found a seat at the bar, asked about happy hour and were told abou the wine deal, as well as the $3 Peronis. Â At no point did the bartender offer us a Happy Hour menu. Â He seemed annoyed that we even asked. Â So finally, after we ordered our drinks (HH priced) and our food from the regular menu, we got a Happy Hour menu and ordered something from there to try as well. Â We had to stop him to get refills as it appeared he was never going to make eye contact long enough for us to order another round. Â And when we did he was annoyed. Â Maybe it was the fact that it was a busy Monday. Â I'm not sure, but regardless, it was annoying to say the least.
The summary: Yes, I'll give it another chance, but my first impression was not fantastic. Â I'm sorry it was busy on a random Monday night, but if your customers ask about Happy Hour, please, in the interest of full disclosure, fill them in!
I just moved to Denver a week ago, and it is my mission to find gluten free pizza with a great wine deal..... Â This place crosses those both off the list.
GREAT happy hour! Â If you like wine, this is the place to go 7 days a week until 7 or after 10... Â ANY glass over $10 is half off, and anything under is just $5.
They can also make their pizzas and flatbreads gluten free! Â We got one of the flatbreads with the olive tapenade and it was delicious.
This is by far my favorite happy hour find in Denver!
We came here during happy hour and sat at the bar. I'm not even going to pretend like I know a lot about wine except I like Malbec and Tempranillo and they had these.
We ordered some snackies, fried olives, which I was all excited about because I am an olive connoisseur, polenta nacho thingies, & calamari.
The olives, you get roughly 6 olives and they somehow end up tasting bland, blander than just eating an olive on its own. Doesn't frying usually make things 17x more delicious?
The polenta nachos were ok, it is just a piece of polenta with some toppings, not really a chip situation, tasty though.
I didn't really get into the calamari too much but it was good.
You have to sit in the bar area to get in on the happy hour food, but I think you can get hh drinks all over.
We also ordered a za, that was good enough, took the rest home but never got around to eating it.
I will come back because it is a block from home, I'm a lush, and some of the other menu items looked enticing.
I can't believe I haven't reviewed LaLa's before now. I guess sometimes you like a place and forget to let them know. We stopped in last night to grab a drink and a little to eat before BF went off to trivia. We quickly found a seat at the bar and ordered up drinks. They have a fantastic happy hour so $10 glasses of wine are $5 and Peroni is only $3.
We decided to try a couple things off their happy hour menu that I hadn't (1) heard of and (2) had yet.
Fried Olives - Yes, you heard me. I didn't ask what kind they were but it was a more mild, meaty green olive stuffed with cheese and fried. They were just fabulous. Seriously, great.
Italian Nachos - What? Yep...3 triangles of polenta topped with cheese, beans, sausage, and peppers with a tomato sauce on the side. Wow was this good and I totally want to steal the ideal for my next party.
This is definitely not our first time at Lala's. I think we've had a little bit of everything here. Their pizzas are yummy. The appetizers are fabulous and their salads are crisp. On Sundays they have a wonderful $10 all-you-can-eat with bruschetta, caesar salad, spaghetti, and pizza. Wow! Â The service is always great and they know how to treat a guest. It a warm neighborhood spot that has great wine and great food. As long as I live downtown I will remain a loyal customer.
I used to live only three blocks from Lala's, but now that I've moved I still find myself turning up here.
Their happy hour is amazing. Before 7pm, any wine on the menu for $10 or under is $5, and anything higher than $10 is half price. Many other drinks (wells, beers etc) are $3.
Their brunch menu is pretty darn good, and so is the dinner menu (never been for lunch). Tonight I had the pollo salad, and they were kind enough to sub goat cheese for the blue (blech). The dressing was so light I couldn't even see any on there, but very good. It was a great, healthy meal, and all for under $10.
Now THIS is how a wine bar should be! Came here with a couple girlfriends last night for happy hour. Parking is rough going- the "seek and ye shall find" method, if you know what I mean. But their wine list is terrific and happy hour is fab. I know people have mentioned it already but it's $5 glasses for wines that are $10 or less and 1/2 off wines more than $10. Other wine bars should take note!
We ordered the italian nachos that were on the bar menu. The portion was pretty small and we got the idea that all of the bar food was individually portioned. So though $4 is not expensive, it actually worked better for the 3 of us to split a pizza. We went with the Foresta Pizza with a pesto base and mushrooms and cheese- it was pretty tasty and all for $10. Lesson: if you're the only one in your group that is hungry, order off the bar menu, otherwise, the regular menu works well!
We walked in a little before 6:00 and had a tough time finding seats so know before you go, this place does some serious biz! But it's great. If I lived in the area, I think I would be there at least once a week!
Lala's has been redeemed!! I went last night with my sister after some post-Christmas shopping and we had the best time. We had a 7:30 reservation and were promptly seated and well-taken care of the entire night.
We each started with a glass of wine - her a cab sav and me the Kesseler Pinot Noir - it was fabulous. Peppery but soft - a very good pinot. After perusing the menu, we decided to start with a small Caesar salad - very garlic-y but extremely yummy - probably the best Caesar dressing I have ever had.
We each ordered off the special menu - my sister got the white pizza with garlic and chicken and I got the peppercorn crusted sirloin with steak fries. My steak was cooked perfectly and the fries with the hollandaise-esque sauce were killer. Sampled my sister's pizza and it didn't disappoint either. Passed on the dessert this time, but will have to give it a shot the next time I'm in. And I'll for sure be back.
It was a leisurely dinner with fabulous service - I'm so glad I gave Lala's another try. P.S. thanks to the staff who happily cleaned up my sister's wine as she spilled almost a full glass with her emphatic hand gestures! I can't take that girl anywhere...
