Beer sampler was great- good beer and a good price. Fish in the fish and chips was tasty but the batter was undercooked. Just peeled the batter off, ate the fish- no big deal. Lamburger was tasty. Waitress super friendly. Atmosphere was casual , place is really clean. A must when in the area !

And just like that, someone gets a 5 star rating! Wow, for beer loves what a treat! The "Beer Sampler" is $12 and comes with over 55 oz of local brewed deliciousness. Prices are more than reasonable and you'll gladly clean your plate.

Lancaster hosts a venue that comparable to other locations in Harrisburg, is fun, inviting, and modern. I enjoyed reading the history of beer moral on the back wall!

All in all this is the best brew spot in Harrisburg and any visiting traveler would be out of their wits not to give it a shot.

Fish tacos were good and had a mild ginger flavor. The fish was mild itself. I thought it could have a little more flavor to it. The chips that came with it were very yummy! I also had the black and tan hummus. First time eating this ever. The tan was spicy and very good. Everyone enjoyed their meals to include the portabello sandwich, fish and chips and pizza! Great food. Would return.

Beers are great!  If it's your firs time there, go for the sampler!  Food and service has always been good too :)

Went for lunch and got horrendous service.  Short-staffed and panicked, the bartender seated us at the bar (no problem).  Unfortunately, our orders were taken after 20 minutes and ultimately botched. The bartender kept making idiotic jokes to make up for it while paying more attention to the scuzzy barfly next to us.  Food was OK.  Next time I'll go after I've already eaten and when they have more people working,  and keep my focus on the beer.

We tried Lancaster Brewing at the very beginning and very end of our trip to Hershey/Gettysburg, being even more pleased the second time.  The locally brewed beers were very good, and I struck gold twice with a delicious sea bass on one trip and a very satisfying lobster mac the other time. On our second visit, our waitress Kathryn was outstanding. She was friendly, efficient and carried out our orders flawlessly by memory and without hesitation. We will certainly return to Lancaster Brewing on any future visits to Harrisburg.

The grey haired gentleman at the bar (sorry - we cannot recall his name) was PHENOMENAL!  He offered us 3 samples of beer prior to us deciding what to order.  He was attentive and on point at all times.  We ordered our food to go.  We would skip the fish tacos next time- they were VERY greasy - to the point that we ended up just eating the fish and leaving the tortilla.  It is possible that the grease was from the vegetables we got on the side (at an extra cost) which had an almost "burnt rubber" flavor.  We give this experience 4 stars, however, because the lamb burger with sweet potato fries was OUTSTANDING.  We ordered the lamb burger medium rare and it was perfectly cooked.  The only complaint we would have is that the feta on the burger could have been more evenly distributed.  All in all, we will continue to return to LBC to fill our growler and eat delicious food!  I wish we could remember the bartender's name!

I figured Lancaster Brewing Company would be the perfect place to stop while passing through Harrisburg during a weekend afternoon. Well, I figured right. This turned out to be a sampling paradise.

Usually most brewpubs have around five or six different local brews to enjoy in a sampler. Not here. At LBC you're getting all 11 of them! That's right, eleven 5 oz samples for $12. I couldn't believe it! Fortunately, I was spending a big chunk of the afternoon here to watch some hockey, so I decided to go for it. The lineup included:

    Lancaster Lager
    Gold Star Pilsner
    Amish 4 Grain Ale
    Hop Hog IPA
    Celtic Rose
    Fest Beer
    Strawberry Wheat
    Rumspringa Golden Bock
    Milk Stout
    Billy's Bock Beer
    Baltic Porter

I never had any of these brews before, so this was the perfect way to sample a wide variety of styles. Of course, I saved the best ones for last. Yum! I also put in an order of buffalo wings, which turned out to be very, very good...crispy, not too spicy and very flavorful. Very different than a typical "buffalo" sauce, but much better, actually.

The only thing holding back a fifth star was the bartender. She was very abrupt and short when I asked her a few questions before ordering and she wasn't very overly efficient, spending a lot of time with a few patrons and little time with the remaining ones. Although disappointing, I didn't let it detract from a very nice afternoon of sampling and sports.

Above average selection of quality dishes for a brewery or pub style restaurant. Ahi tuna app was delicious with citrus and coleslaw. Ribeye was cooked a perfect MR and the accompanying mushrooms and caramelized onions really made the entrée. Service was attentive and professional. Nothing bad yo say, we liked this place and wouldn't hesitate to stop here again.

I went to a casual business lunch at the LBC.  I thought the food was really great.  The salads were surprisingly fresh for a pub-type place.  I also had their house specialty mac and cheese.  It was pretty good if you like it on the dry/baked side as opposed to really saucy.

Our server was super friendly and attentive.

    I will definitely be back.

My husband and I stopped in for a beer the other night.  We have both been to this brewery before but this was the first time we sat at the bar and after this experience I doubt that we will ever make this choice again.  There were two bartenders working, one male and one female and neither were friendly or helpful.  They acted like waiting on customers was an inconvenience.  I feel that these employees are a poor representation of this microbrewery.  We felt like we were at a chain restaurant, not a local business.

LBC is a small chain of  pubs with the beer brewed in Lancaster. There were a choice of 8 different beers but only keg beer, no cask conditioned beer. I had the IPA Hoppy Hog which was fresh with a crisp taste and nice hoppy taste without a lot of bitter.         I had the fish and chips. The fish was haddock and it was beer battered in house. My fish was nice but the batter could have been better if the oil had been hotter which would have made it more crispy. The fries were fresh cut, single cooked I think. They may want to think of double cooking the fries to get them more crispy. There was a small picked vegetable relish with the fish and chips, it was very tasty, I wish there had been more of it. A nice addition to the fish and chips would have been mushy (marrow fat) peas, inexpensive and a good vegetable to go with fish and chips. Over all the meal and service was good. Last Fall they had a Bavarian roasted pork hock that I hope they will have again before October fest.

Had the beer before and  liked it.
Passing through Harrisburg on a Sunday and saw the place - had to try.
It looks cool - industrial / pubby.
Neat menu with good food - The Lamburger rocked as did the meatloaf.
    Hop Hog is my favorite.
The service needs some serious upgrading.

First off, I do really like the Lancaster Brewing Co. for their beers. Every time I see their stuff  I make sure to grab some (especially their delicious Milk  Stout which makes a killer Black & Red when mixed with framboise), so their brews get a 4.5 from me.

But onto this particular restaurant. I like the interior, despite it's somewhat odd location. There's two issues though; the food is only decent, nothing to write home about (but it's a brew pub so what do you expect). Secondly, the service there is very rude and passive aggressive. The bartenders were unnaturally icy cold to the patrons and seemed really pissed off. Maybe it was a bad night or something, but that is the reason I will probably not visit this particular establishment again.

Microbrew? Good food?  I'm on it like a fat kid on a chocolate cake.

I always judge a brewery by its IPA. The Hop Hog IPA is very good. Nice bitter start with hoppy highlights after it goes down.

I ordered the lamb burger for dinner. OMG. Think about it... ground lamb, feta,  and tzatziki sauce.  Yeah, I nearly wet myself on the first bite.

In a boorish town, the LBC is a shining beacon of goodness in Harrisburg. Just go, now.

As always the food and the beers were excellent. Plus, just for checking in I got a free dessert (the pumpkin cheesecake was phenomenal), and when looking up the restaurant, saw an offer for a $20 voucher for $16 and took advantage of that also.
    It was a great visit!!

We love this place. Their food was very good, and the flight of beer we ordered had a good selection from their brewery. The prices were a little high, but the restaurant is very nice and their service was great.

Boyfriend and I stopped here on the way from Harrisburg to Hershey for a quick lunch. The complimentary bread was warm and yummy. The service was good and quick. The walls have tons of facts about the history of beer, which was kind of cool, except we were there in the afternoon, and it was too dark inside to actually read most of these. Also, noise was a huge issue. The room we were in carried voices really loudly, so most of our conversation was...

    "What?"

    "I SAID, "muffle muffle muffle."

    "WHAT?!"

    "MUFFLE MUFFLE MUFFLE"

    "Never mind."

    "WHAT?!?"

This was only exacerbated when a group of about 20 pre-teen soccer players came in SCREAMING. Naturally, the restaurant can't control the type of diners they get, but a separate group room would have worked better.

As for the food, it was pretty average. I had a Brewers Chicken sandwich, with cheddar, aoili, and caramelized onions, which was pretty good, if less flavorful than I expected. The fries were ok but very salty. Boyfriend had filet mignon with asparagus and bleu cheese potato gratin. I was excited to steal the gratin from him, but it tasted just sort of blah. I would have preferred a cheddar or Parmesan or some other type of cheese...the bleu cheese just made it taste like potatoes. I guess they were trying to be artsy. They also didn't bring him a steak knife right away, which is a pet peeve of his.

So, I'd say that if you're in the area, this is a good bet for quick service, if a little pricey for what you're getting. Still, everywhere else in the area is a chain, so this might appeal to some people just by virtue of being a real restaurant.

The more I think bout this place the more I want from it. Really beautiful establishment and nice new deck.   But why do these amazing hometown brew places have such week menus?  Dont get me wrong  I liked the place but why cant their menu match the outstanding beer they produce?  They had bout 6 maybe 8 entrees.  The usual salad n sandwiches and 3 interesting apps.  I ordered the  wasabi pea tuna steak. Gotta say I really liked it but was really bland hardly any spice, good thing  I saved the sauce from my calamari app.  Loved the sides esp.  The sweet rice cake.  The boyfriend ordered the tasty crab cakes, really good chunks of crab, got ur $ worth.  I really love his horseradish mash potato s. Yum yum yumm.
When the hosts  hands u a book menu and there's not a page in it, thats some big  disappoinment to get over right away.  Im thinking if maybe had a happier or friendlier server perhaps woulda pushed this up a star.  In closing, don't not go here, Im only  hoping to give constructive criticism to the  establishment.   Thanks for reading.

    I take it all back.

This probably was a 3 star before, but I liked the beer. I went back for dinner recently and had a less than stellar experience.

The place is cold and weirdly laid out. The bar is preferrable than the restaurant side and I highly suggest sitting at the bar to eat.

Service was fine. Beer was beer - their beer is good, but not amazing. Got the celtic rose and it just tasted like a stronger version of the strawberry wheat, which is weird.

Food was meh. We got the BBQ chicken pizza. The cheese was good, but the barbeque sauce tasted a bit off and the chicken was bad quality and undercooked. We peeled it all off. The crust was wayyy to flour-y.

The hangar steak we got was the weirdest flavor mix I have ever had. The sauce on top of the steak was weirdly sweet and bitter and did not go with the steak at all. There were 4 pieces, and out of those, two were well done, two were medium rare. I guess it averages to the medium well we asked for? The fries were also undercooked - not crispy and some of the potato in the middle wasn't done. And so greasy. The best thing was the side of blue cheese potato au gratin we got - it was cooked well, but the blue cheese was really underwhelming and it wasn't seasoned at all.

Overall : good place to go get a drink and maybe a sandwich, but not a dinner place at all.

This place was typical brewery fare and typical brewery atmosphere. I did really like how you can sit outside on the patio. I actually ordered the steak sandwich with gruyere cheese because at $11, it seemed like the most reasonably priced meal on the menu. It ended up being delicious, and it was actually enough for 2 meals, so it was quite a deal. I paid a dollar extra for the sweet potato fries and it was SO worth it.

Absolutely 5-stars here because this place is consistently awesome.  Keeping in mind what it is, a 'brewpub,' it does not draw a huge young crowd, so if you're looking for a rowdy bar experience, you'll have to go elsewhere.  Typically, we will start here and then move on to a more lively setting.  This is not to say it doesn't get loud and crowded, because it does, but it's a more grown up atmosphere.   Good amount of TVs too to watch the game.  Addition of the deck outside is great too, although view is highway and parking lot...

Beers are awesome, in my opinion they surpass most of ABC's.  Winter Warmer, their (duh) winter seasonal is by far my favorite.  It's strong though and will knock you on your ass if you let it.  Also, try the Hop Hog (or Boss Hog) and Milk Stout mixed, called a Hog's Milk (not sure how comfortable I am with this name, but it's damn good!)  Lots of people love their Strawberry Wheat beer (mixed with the Milk Stout it's a Chocolate Covered Strawberry).  Beer prices are very reasonable for the quality you are getting ($3-4ish)  Bartenders are efficient and very friendly.

Food has never disappointed either.  I've had, honestly, most of the menu and I haven't had anything I was disappointed with.  The closest thing was some special ravioli they did once but I haven't seen it since.  Crab cakes, Crab Dip, Ribs, Caesar Salads and Sweet Potato fries are all winners.  Wings are pretty decent as well.  Food can be a bit pricey, but it's definitely worth it, and they have food/drink specials everyday of the week.

Overall a much better pick than Appalachian, IMO.  I will say that Appalachian is a more energetic time and have live bands, so if you're looking for that, go there.  But be warned, their beer isn't as good, and their food is very sub par as well.

A very pleasant surprise. The Greek salad was delicious though not 100% authentic. And the crab cakes were amazing and mostly meat. Definitely the best place for dinner in the area.

Always a great choice! Their burger is pretty reasonably priced and good too (Harrisburg location).  But go for the beer... it rocks!

Always a great stop for a great beer.  Service is always great at both this location & Lancaster. Although, the food variety is better at the Harrisburg location.

My personal beer of choice - "Hop Hog"!

Had a 20% off coupon because I was staying at the hotel next door.

The food was fine, but the service sucked. It was just me, my sister, and her grandbaby during a slow weekday early lunch, so hardly anyone was there. Another 'business' group of 4 men sat down after us, ordered after us and were served way before we were. I had goobers in my tea.

After the initial replacement of the tea, I never did get offered a refill. My sister took the baby out to the car while I waited and waited for the check. During this time the 'business' lunch guys had already paid the bill and were headed out the door. When she finally brought the check, I had to ask for a refill to go; she asked if we need boxes to which I replied, no, they are long gone now.

The food was good, especially their chips, but the prices on the kid's menu were inflated. The kids menu was nothing more than 'kid friendly' foods pulled from the regular menu. The serving sizes and prices were not 'kid sized'.

If I were to go again, I would order out.

I've came here for dinner 5 times ordering something different every time.
Pros: the micro beer, interior, service

    Cons: the food

A steak house should have cooks that know how to cook steak. Every time I've gone there myself and my company's meals have had an issue. I ordered a fillet MR and it was burnt on one side and MW.
French onion soup tasted like I was drinking oil (cheap mozz cheese).

If you come here, eat before you arrive and drink a lot of beer.

Updated:  Second trip - skipped the salad and went with soup.  It was excellent.  All of our entrees were very good - Brats, fish & chips, filet.  Also, the waiter was much, much (did I say much) better than the last time.  Easily enough to bump them up to a four star.

Very good meal.  All the entrees were good including meatloaf and tuna. Things that could be better...no side salad option-so we had to get regular salads with dinner (just way more food & money than necessary) and waiter didn't do a very good at explaining what their brews were like. In the grand scheme of things, these shortcomings are not that big a deal, but I'll still limiting them to 3 stars.

We've been to LBC several times and each visit has been very good! Last night there were 6 of us in our party and the service and food was exceptional. To start we tried the beer/cheese dip along with their calamari. Both dishes were a nice start.
The main courses were very good and portion size was very filling.
We all enjoyed our respective brews with the Milk Stout and the strawberry wheat being two of the top.
    We will return!

Overall, a good experience.  We (family of four) ate here for an early Saturday dinner.  The beer sampler (ten of their current releases for $10) was an excellent way to sample their different brews.  I wasn't impressed with most of the beers, but a few (Amish Four Grain, the seasonal Hefeweizen, and the Pale Ale) were good.

We ordered the Reuben Egg Rolls (very good) as an appetizer.  For dinner, two of us ordered the Lamb Burger (interesting but good), the kids ribs meal (good, although not enough for my daughter) and the LBC Steak Sandwich, which my wife liked.  The homemade potato chips accompanying the sandwiches were very good.

Went here for date night.  We didn't order any entrees as nothing really sparked the hunger fire... but we did get the Black and Tan Hummus.  It was very very good **warning** if you do not like garlic do not order this.

The hubby tried all of the beers, I liked the Milk Stout.  The beer was very good as I had sips of all of his.  For a Saturday night it was not crowded at all and if it had not been for the fact the AC was cranked up to meat locker I would have been much more comfortable.

Overall it was a pretty decent experience and we will probably be going back.

I went here for a small business dinner last night.  The draw was supposed to be the food, but I found it underwhelming.  The beer was good, but I was the only beer drinker in the crowd.  Why drink Crown and Coke at a brewpub?

The table split the calamari, wings and crab dip.  The calamari was crisp and nicely fired, but it was lacking flavor.  The sauces that accompanied it were okay.  Wings were average at best, and the crab dip was soupy - pretty gross.

I had the lobster mac and cheese which came highly recommended from folks who had been there before.  I found it to be too rich, almost cloyingly so.  The cheese was very tasty, but the cream base was right over the top.

The "rice pudding brulee" was pretty weak.  It had come right out of the fridge, the rice was hard, and the caramelized top was probably about 15 seconds too short under the torch (or else the fact that it started out at 35 degrees made it mission impossible).

Our service was great - thanks to our server Kate.  Thanks, Kate.

I'd go back for the beer and maybe try a pizza or a burger, but I don't think I'd seek it out.

My boyfriend and I went to the location in Lancaster a few years back and had an "ok" experience.  We decided to give this one a try a few weeks ago--to see if maybe that was just an off day.  No.

Mind you, the food doesn't suck...but it's way over-priced for the quality of what is served.  I got the prosciutto, pineapple and goat cheese pizza which was severely lacking in toppings...and what was there was located only in the center of the pizza (I hate that!)  My boyfriend's fish and chips was good...but not 16 dollars good--especially considering the "chips" were a few undercooked potato quarters.

I will say that their beer is pretty good.  Maybe they should have just stuck to being a brewery, because their food just...lacks.

Oh...and the whole restaurant smelled like a soured dish-rag.

Stopped here the other night on our way to VA via Harrisburg.  Not a bad joint, the beers were good and so was the food, but I knocked them down a star because #1, they were out of a few beers, including the octoberfest, and the service was slightly less than adequate.  It wasn't bad, but the server may or may not have been high or planned on getting high very soon after we left....oh well.

Had the same sausage platter mentioned below which was good but not especially flavorful (where's the horseradish in the mash) but the GF's sandwich was stellar.  A little overpriced, and the atmosphere was a little sterile and a little too spacious, making it echoey and your date a little distant.

There's one reason and one alone that the Lancaster Brewing Company gets five stars in my book - they know their beer.  As this IS a brewery... isn't that what it's all about?

I'm allergic to sulfite preservatives, and they're one of the few restaurants where I've been blessed with an amazing server who not only knew what they were (most servers are like... "you're allergic to wha?"), but could also answer positively that there are NO SULFITES in the beer on tap.  (He also knew that there ARE sulfites in the bottled beer, so kudos on that, too.)   The first time I went to LBC and had the sampler I had more beers in one sitting than I'd ever had in my life.  I can also get a growler filled to take home with me, and be able to safely have beer at home, which is a very rare occurrence.

I'm a fan of both the beer sampler - which I think is a great deal - and the milk stout.

All that said, if this was a straight-out restaurant and not a brewery I would not be giving it five stars.  I've had several of the appetizers which have been pretty good (I like the cheese plate) but the entrees I've had have been kind of "eh" - especially the pasta - with the exception of the lamb burger, which was excellent.

How is this place getting an average of 4 stars?  The beer is terrible.  the consistency is terrible.  I was so excited to see LBC so close to my home, but when I tried the sampler the only good beer was the porter or the stout.  LBC is a good microbrew for people that don't like real beer with substance.

You're better off getting a six pack of that new flavored budweiser stuff, because thats all LBCs beer taste like. "Flavored Beer"

Go to ABC.  Their mountain lager is out of this world and their IPA is comparable to many of the award winning west coast beers.

The place did look like it had potential though.  The staff was extremely nice and the restaurant looked ehhhh well maybe not.  Reminded me of an empty outback steakhouse.

Harrisburg is the capital of PA. Harrisburg is NOT the culinary capital of PA. During my dozen or so business trips here in the last few years, I have been underwhelmed at each meal. However, L BC actually EXCEEDED my expectations (which were low, of course).

A decent pale ale was served, along with a Lamb Burger with feta cheese and tzatziki sauce, and some excellent home made chips. My dining companion got a nice salad with grilled chicken, and fresh tasting veggies.

Now with LBC and Five Guys in the area, I have at least 2 nights worth of dining on each trip that will be good!  No more fuddruckers - woo hooo!
