The seats could use an overhaul.  But besides that this is a spectacular place!  This is about as cavernously close to Radio City Music Hall as you can get in the 'burg!

This is where my high school graduation was...where I played concerts in Youth Symphony...so many great memories!  I've even come back to perform here as an adult!

The acoustics are stunning.  The constellations on the ceiling still enthrall me.  The foyer is beautiful kept.  It's great just to go in to see the space, let alone to see a concert/event.

Make the time to experience The Forum!

Yes, I also was invited by Steve M to visit him at the Forum with the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, we went last saturday night. Originally it was supposed to be me, my wife, her sister and her mother. But a lot of people had the flu and were sick, so we just ended up with me and her sister. We also parked in some state employees parking spots and walked to the Forum, it was very windy.

The performance itself was pretty awesome. The first performance of the night was "The Star-Spangled Banner" then Rimsky Korsakov's "Capriccio Espagnol" , Higdon with the moddern (and fun) "Percussion Concerto", next was Walton "Partita for Orchestra" and lastly Ravel "La Valse" the show was about 2-3 hours long with an intermission.

Overall the music itself was all excellent, and the free seats didnt hurt either! (thanks Steve!) We had a blast, this was the first time i was in the Forum in about 10 years. the seats were nice & compact. We ended up running into my boss, and several friends there also. The ushers and cashiers were very pleasant, and did a great job of sneaking in the tardies. All in all it was a really awesome night, just proof that Harrisburg does have some culture!

Two weeks ago I was invited by Steve M. to come see him play with the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra at The Forum.  My mom and I decided to go for a Sunday afternoon performance, as neither of us was really willing to give up a Saturday night to spend with the other (ok, so that was me).  After driving around the block looking for parking (which was kind of insane for a Sunday afternoon), we parked in some State Employees spot and decided who cares - it's Sunday!

So off we went down Walnut Street to the Forum, which is actually part of the Capital Complex (didn't know that until I tried to Google the address).  We got our tickets and found our seats easily, although the ushers were more than willing to help.

The place looks amazing.  There are constellations on the ceiling, which was especially entertaining during the 2nd, flowery piece that the orchestra played. (ZZZZZZ) The acoustics are fabulous, and every seat feels like you're super-close.

My only pet peeve is that GEEEEZ the seats are small.  I had literally no leg room and I'm only 5'7".  If my butt was any wider I'd need 2 seats!  And I'm a normal sized person, so I guess big people don't go to the symphony :)
